Happy free Heroic Map Pack day everyone! For those with a little patience, you'll be rewarded today with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/22/halo-3s-heroic-map-pack-to-be-free-this-tuesday/"><em>Halo 3</em>'s former $10 set of maps for the cost of air</a> (but not PerriAir; that the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaceballs">Spaceballs</a> still charge for). The pack includes Standoff, Rat's Nest and Foundry. While we'd love to tell you all about these levels, we're getting our first taste of them today.<br /><br />With all that said, there's currently a hiccup in the system and the content - which was <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&amp;cid=13399#">supposed to be free at 2AM pacific last night</a> - is still listed for $10 on Xbox Live Marketplace. Bungie's forum has a nice thread (<a href="http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=18824069&amp;postRepeater1-p=1">about to break 100 pages</a>) on the issue and we're trying to get an answer from Major Nelson for the Microsoft angle. We'll update when the map pack actually becomes, you know ... free.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: It's free now, go get 'em.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/">Halo 3 - Heroic Map Pack</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/#521701"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/h3_dlc_standoff_environment-03-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/#521700"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/h3_dlc_standoff_environment-02-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/#521699"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/h3_dlc_standoff_environment-01-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/#521691"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/h3_dlc_standoff_3rdperson-03-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-heroic-map-pack/#521690"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/h3_dlc_standoff_3rdperson-02-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/halo-3-bought-by-52-of-us-xbox-360-owners/">.</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/friendly-reminder-halo-3-heroic-maps-free-today/">Friendly reminder: Halo 3 Heroic maps free today [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Mar 2008 10:26:00 EST. It's like MySpace for lawyers! Just click the new lawsuit link, titled "Possible False Advertising: Halo 3 Is Not Native High Definition," and reap the rewards of our country's justice system.<br /><br />After we successfully get an 80 pixel refund from Bungie, we'll being going on a suing spree of developers who didn't include things they promised would be in their games. The event will take place at the Vancouver Film School, and will also include talks led by designers, producers, and CEOs from such companies as Activision, BioWare, Eidos, EA, and Stormfront Studios. Tickets for the Game Design Expo 2008, which runs from January 19-20, go on sale November 21.<br /><br />Bungie's speakers, namely audio lead Jay Weinland and director of cinematics CJ Cowan, are expected to talk at length about the tools and techniques used to create <em>Halo 3</em>'s visuals, though we imagine once the microphone is turned over to the audience it won't take long for the topic to turn to what life is like after the dev's much-publicized <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/05/its-official-bungie-branches-off-from-microsoft/">divorce from Microsoft</a>, including how they are holding up and, more importantly, <em>who </em>got to keep the dog. <br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/bungies-weinland-and-cowan-to-keynote-game-design-expo/">Bungie's Weinland and Cowan to keynote Game Design Expo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 10:25:00 EST. That's a <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo3/">Halo 3</a></em> heatmap, an upcoming feature of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Bungie.net">Bungie.net</a>. This technology (which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bungie/">Bungie</a> has actually been using for a while to help balance their levels) allows players to look at a number of statistics for each map, including the locations of kills, and the weapons used most often. It's just one neat addition the Bungie crew announced in their <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&amp;cid=12943">weekly update</a>.<br /><br />Considering <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span>'s <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/09/27/halo-3-breaks-records-170-million-in-24hrs/">ridonkulously successful launch</a>, the guys and gals at Bungie should be sitting on some private beach right now, drinking out of diamond encrusted goblets, smoking tightly-rolled cigars made of money. Instead, they're hard at work, fixing various in-game bugs and updating the Matchmaking playlists (Rocket Race FTW). We've got a complete list of those updates after the jump.<br /><br />No downloadable content was officially dated, but hopefully, we won't be waiting too much longer. According to Bungie, "things are in motion and the DLC bullet train is making a bee line straight for your face."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/11/10/halo-3-bugs-dlc-and-matchmaking-updates/">X3F</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/updates-for-bungie-net-halo-3-matchmaking-dlc-on-their-way/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Updates for Bungie.net, Halo 3 Matchmaking, DLC on their way</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/updates-for-bungie-net-halo-3-matchmaking-dlc-on-their-way/">Updates for Bungie.net, Halo 3 Matchmaking, DLC on their way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Nov 2007 18:15:00 EST. Dean Takahasi of The San Jose Mercury News (and recent panelist on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/07/joystiq-podcast-roundtable-bungie-jumps/">Joystiq Podcast Roundtable</a>) has apparently <a href="http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/2007/10/worlds_oldest_halo_3_player.html">found</a> the world's oldest person playing <em>Halo 3</em>, and it looks like that honor falls to a <a href="http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&amp;VideoID=19456378">95-year-old Japanese grandmother</a>. <br /><br />Sure, her gaming skillz look a bit weak, but we've seen younger players do just as poorly the first few times they played. We wonder if she's gaming online at all, because she dishes out some smack talk to the TV at one point ... at least, we assume it's smack. Plus she might want to sit a bit further back or else she'll need glasses. Oh, wait.<br /><br />If you've got an older<em> Halo 3</em> gamer in your life, let us know about it. Better yet, drop some suggestions in the comments for what this player's gamertag should be.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/worlds-oldest-halo-3-player-found/">World's oldest Halo 3 player found</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Oct 2007 20:00:00 EST. It seems like if you want some guaranteed internet traffic these days, all you have to do is slap <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo3"><em>Halo</em> tags</a> all over the place. In fact, it's probably standard practice by now for sites offering things like FREE VIAGRA and GET RICH NOW NOW NOW to put <em>Halo</em> in the metatags. Darned '<em>Halo</em>' branded little blue pills.<br />
<br />
However, if you actually go out and create something all your own as a fanatical tribute to the <em>Halo</em> universe, then you have our respect. When it involves recreating the Zanzibar map from <em>Halo 2</em> completely to scale in Lego, then you have our allegiance. In fact, we'd love to have something like this gracing the front window of the 'Stiq offices. If you've ever read Douglas Coupland's <em>Microserfs</em>, then hopefully you get the reference. If you haven't read it, then you probably just think we're dorks.<br />
<br />
Anyhow, check out the video of this incredible Lego creation, and then go raid your old toy closet and pull out the bricks. Time to get crackin' on your own Lego version of Lockout. Ping us when you're done.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/05/halo-2s-zanzibar-done-completely-in-lego/">Halo 2's Zanzibar map done completely in Lego</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Oct 2007 21:45:00 EST. Boy, we didn't expect the crowds in line for the <em>Halo 3</em> launch at Universal Citywalk in Los Angeles to start screaming like little girls when <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zac_Efron">Zac Efron</a> appeared, but they certainly did. We'll be hearing those shrill screams in our ears for days to come. Unless we pump up the volume on <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span> while we get into some fragoffs.<br /><br />So, having attended the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo2/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 2</span></a> launch at the same spot, this launch was incredibly lackluster. There was no music, no local radio DJ pumping up the crowd, no bikini-clad babes handing out samples of Mountain Dew, no one hurling t-shirts into the crowd, and no big countdown and fanfare. The most noise made by the crowd was whenever Master Chief would stroll by, and everyone would go nuts trying to take a photo of him. Then there was the guy handing out free swag for ... <span style="font-style: italic;">The Kingdom</span>. Everyone mobbed the poor guy, thinking it was <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo</span> stuff, but they were bummed when it turned out to be notebooks and pins from the upcoming movie.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/">Halo 3 Launch - Los Angeles</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/#412759"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/dsc_0043_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/#412726"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/dsc_0034_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/#412760"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/dsc_0069_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/#412727"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/dsc_0046_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-launch-los-angeles/#412761"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/dsc_0121_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/zac-efron-turns-los-angeles-halo-3-launch-into-teeny-bopperazzi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zac Efron turns Los Angeles Halo 3 launch into teeny bopperazzi fest</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/zac-efron-turns-los-angeles-halo-3-launch-into-teeny-bopperazzi/">Zac Efron turns Los Angeles Halo 3 launch into teeny bopperazzi fest</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Sep 2007 03:45:00 EST. <br />Ladies and gentlemen, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/03/todays-chiefiest-video-master-chief-sucks-at-halo/">Master Chief</a> is back. This time he's in for a double whammy, learning that The Arbiter taped over his movies with episodes of <em>Everybody Loves Raymond</em>, and finding out that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/11/halo-3-multiplayer-beta-event-nyc/"><em>Halo 3</em></a> beta has expired. Poor Master Chief.<br /><br />He tries to soothe the pain with some <em>Halo 2</em> action, and also serves up today's video in the process. It's not quite as good as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/03/todays-chiefiest-video-master-chief-sucks-at-halo/">original</a> (not enough Master Chief laughing lolololololololololz), but it'll kill some time between now and the release of the retail version, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/16/halo-3-to-finish-the-fight-on-september-25th/">looms ever closer</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/20/todays-chiefiest-sequel-master-chief-sucks-at-halo-2/">Today's chiefiest sequel: Master Chief Sucks at Halo 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Aug 2007 02:00:00 EST. After digging around some press kits we stumbled upon the images in the gallery below of the<em> Halo 3</em> Xbox 360, pretty green controller and headset and man are we enjoying the design. Go ahead, take a look at the high res photos in our gallery below, you'll be glad you did.<br /><br />Also, we're trying to contact Microsoft to clear up some confusion we have about the included headset. You see, <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/events/e32007/articles/halo3console.htm">Xbox.com</a> and the press materials we received specifically state the bundle will include a wired headset (now confirmed). But we heard from E3 and Bungie stated in their <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&amp;cid=12661">Weekly Update</a> that they were going to include the <em>Halo 3 </em>wireless headset instead. So, we aren't sure which it is, wired or wireless, but we'll be sure to pass along any clarification when we get it. Until then, take a look at the photos below.<br /><br /><font color="#ff0000">Update 1:</font> We just got confirmation from Microsoft that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-xbox-360-1/314081/">pictured</a> <strong>wired</strong> headset will be included in this bundle. The wireless <em>Halo 3</em> headset will be a separate purchase for $59.99. All cleared up.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/up-close-and-personal-with-the-halo-3-xbox-360/">Up close and personal with the Halo 3 Xbox 360 [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jul 2007 11:15:00 EST. Towards the end of the interview, while talking about his gaming habits, Bell said that he loved playing <em>Halo 2 </em>co-op with his son and then said that "<em>we're</em> <em>really looking forward to playing with my three sons, all together on Halo 3</em>"<em>.</em> All together playing <em>Halo 3</em> eh? Sounds a lot like a four player campaign co-op <em>Halo 3</em> experience to us. But, to be fair, he didn't specify how he and his children were going to play <em>Halo 3</em>, although his remarks came right after he was talking about the teamwork he and his one son experienced while playing <em>Halo 2</em> co-op. So, it's not "officially" confirmed, but darned if it doesn't make for some great water cooler material.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.unscleric.com/news/2007/07/12/four-player-co-op-in-halo-3-confirmed-by-microsoft-vp-jeff-bell/">UNSCleric</a>, Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/14/halo-3-four-player-co-op-semi-confirmed/">Halo 3 four player co-op semi confirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 14 Jul 2007 09:15:00 EST. Frankie says so, so it must have been that long. Anyway, after a nine month hiatus lukems forced the Bungie team into the podcast booth as they talk about E3, <em>Halo 3</em>, and all kinds of other topics that reference to the number three. Some coolio new information revealed in the podcast are such things like the rename of multiplayer map Shrine to Sand Trap (which 22 <em>Oblivions</em> will fit in), saved films/screenshots will work in multiplayer AND campaign, and Frankie admits he freezes when on stage. This podcast is overdue and busting out after nine months of hibernation, go download now!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/bungies-podcast-rises-from-the-ashes/">Bungie's podcast rises from the ashes!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2007 16:15:00 EST. It's not called a <em>Halo 2</em> headset guys and mistakes like that could so get a guy's hand chopped off or tongue ripped out. Unless of course the ad isn't a mistake and is really a leaked announcement. Maybe something along the idea that the <em>Halo 3</em> wireless headset will come with a free copy of <em>Halo 2</em> Vista. That's it! We got looks at <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo3/">Halo 3</a></em> (more on that soon) today, and during a walk through of the multiplayer "Save Film" feature a weapon was noted, and Sketch even went so far as to point it out specifically <strong>just</strong> to say that he couldn't comment on it, <em>twice</em>. The first time players saw this weapon was in Halo 2, in the <a href="http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Gravity_Hammer#Fist_of_Rukt">hands</a> of Tartarus. Of course, we're talking about the Gravity Hammer. We only saw it in a character's hands when the camera was panning across the battle field, and again attached to a character's back. We can't wait to see it on hte battlefield.<br /><br />[<a href="http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Halo_3_Weapon_%28Jiralhanae_Chieftain_Gravity_Hammer%29.JPG">Image</a> Via <a href="http://halo.wikia.com">Halopedia</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/sighted-in-halo-3-demo-gravity-hammer/">Sighted in Halo 3 demo: Gravity Hammer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2007 04:28:00 EST. One of the rumors comes straight out of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/video-halo-3-and-halo-wars-make-us-salivate/"><em>Halo 3</em> E3 trailer</a> when it was quickly noticed that a few of the trailer's video clips include what looks to be a new grenade type. The grenade type, as seen above, was mentioned in Joystiq's <em>Halo 3 </em>trailer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/joystiqs-video-analysis-of-the-halo-3-e3-trailer/">analysis</a> where they referenced the icon's look to The Art of Halo book, and it looks very similar to what is called the Supa Double Cap Bomb. Though, the art book's description of the Cap Bomb is nothing more than a flash grenade that shoots out sparky sparks, but here's to hoping said flash grenade has a <em>Gears of War</em> "stun" effect.<br /><br />The second rumor comes from <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3161000">1UP</a> and their <em>Halo 3</em> campaign impressions writeup. In their article, they mention that while watching the demo they saw a menu option called "Forge" and when they asked Bungie about it, they received no comment. Well, any good Marathon fanboy would know that Bungie used a program also called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marathon_total_conversions#Forge">Forge</a> to create levels in their Marathon series. So, does this <em>Halo 3</em> Forge menu option confirm some type of multiplayer map customization? Possibly. What we do know is that some of these rumors could be cleared up in the September issue of EGM which will include brand new <em>Halo 3</em> details. Bungie's Frankie took time behind closed doors to show us a new feature in <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span> ... Game Films. What's that, you ask? Since the hearing has started to return to our ears, post the <em>Rock Band</em> party in Hollywood, we'll let you know. We've started forming coherent thoughts again.<br /><br />As you can probably figure out from the title, these are saved films of your played games in <em>Halo 3</em>. The cool thing is, they can be from either multiplayer or campaign games, can be saved, and you can also select your favorite clips from your films and upload them to be shared with others via Xbox Live. Pwn a warthog with a Spartan Laser and make it flip 47 times? Clip it out and save it. Snipe some from across the map? A few button clicks and it's immortalized forever ... or until your console dies.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/joystiq-impressions-halo-3-game-films/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq impressions: Halo 3 Game Films</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/joystiq-impressions-halo-3-game-films/">Joystiq impressions: Halo 3 Game Films</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2007 08:00:00 EST. Bungie's Frankie took us through a tantalizing tidbit of Halo 3's opening single-player campaign level last night, although they wouldn't show us the full opening, since "It gives away a few twists that we want to keep secret until the game launches." Curse you to the ends of the universe, Bungie Boy! We wanted some deets. We were his last walkthrough of the night, and he would've gone over the edge if we'd brought him a cocktail, but we were bone dry. Reminder to pack the Joystiq Official Developer Tongue-Loosening Flask (tm).<br /><br />Thanks the the wonders of developer magic, we skipped those scenes which were denied us, and after seeing the cool new Halo 3 loading screen -- a blizzard of white pixels snowed vertically across the screen to form a computer model of a rotating Halo. It's a much faster loading screen than Halo 2 had ... we remember that thing taking forrrreeeeverrrrrr sometimes.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/">Halo 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/#229212"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/val_ext3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/#229213"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/hg_assault_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/#229214"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/hg_ext2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/#229215"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/hg_ext1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3/#229216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/chiefvisor_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/joystiq-impressions-halo-3-campaign/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq impressions: Halo 3 campaign</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/joystiq-impressions-halo-3-campaign/">Joystiq impressions: Halo 3 campaign</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 22:35:00 EST. Well, we were close as a new Xbox 360 was shown, but it wasn't gray. Microsoft just <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/events/e32007/articles/halo3console.htm">announced</a> that they'll be releasing a special edition <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360halo3console/default.htm">Halo 3 Xbox 360</a> sometime this Fall. This army green <em>Halo 3</em> 360 is accented by yellow highlights (think <em>Halo 3</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-accessories/274532/">wireless headset</a> color scheme) and includes a matching green 20GB HDD, wired headset, and wireless controller. The package will also include a play and charge kit and limited edition theme and gamer picture set. But what's most interesting is that the console <em>WILL</em> include an HDMI port on the back. So, it's kind of an Xbox 360 Elite/Premium hybrid where you only get a Premium style 20GB HDD, but you also get Elite style HDMI connectivity with only component cables included. Again, Microsoft did not set a firm release date or pricing for the new console.<br /><br /><em>Halo 3</em> Xbox 360 bundle contents recapped after the break including a bigger photo of this army green wonder. Oh yeah, <em>Halo 3</em> game sold separately.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/special-halo-3-xbox-360-console-announced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Special Halo 3 Xbox 360 console announced</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/special-halo-3-xbox-360-console-announced/">Special Halo 3 Xbox 360 console announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 13:30:00 EST. Fresh from E3 are two <em>Halo</em> videos that made us salivate uncontrollably and just may make some fanboys become giddy little school girls. Yup, they're that good. Embedded above is the trailer everyone and their grandma is talking about and is the the new <em>Halo 3</em> campaign trailer shown at E3. The Arbitor, Cortana and the entire Covenant race make an appearance in the trailer and be sure to watch for the Brute Chopper ... it's teh badness. After watching the trailer we think we can all agree that <em>Halo 3</em> is looking a lot prettier and <em>will</em> feature one epically awesome campaign. Also, be sure to check out Joystiq's <em>Halo 3</em> E3 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/joystiqs-video-analysis-of-the-halo-3-e3-trailer/">trailer analysis</a>.<br />
<br />
The second video is embedded after the break and is <em>Halo Wars'</em> coming out video featuring gameplay footage. Not only does it look graphically impressive, but it looks darn fun to play too. Ensemble Studios has done a fantastic job on this one as we can't wait to get our hands on those little Warthogs and Grunts. Adorable little guys.<em> Halo 3</em> and <em>Halo Wars</em> ... this is gaming my friends.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/video-halo-3-and-halo-wars-make-us-salivate/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Halo 3 and Halo Wars make us salivate</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/video-halo-3-and-halo-wars-make-us-salivate/">Video: Halo 3 and Halo Wars make us salivate</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 10:15:00 EST. If you aren't familiar, mention of the Excavator was discovered while digging through the<em> Halo 3</em> beta code a while back, but Bungie has been quite mum about any details or acknowledgment of its existence. The Excavator render could easily be a fake, but it looks eerily similar to a weapon that was held by a Brute in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/20/bungie-talks-up-the-brute-video/">"Et Tu, Brute?"</a> ViDoc. It's up in the air and for you to decide if this is our Excavator rendered in the flesh or if it's all hogwash. Now we just want to know if we'll be able to wield a Gravity Hammer come September.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/09/is-this-the-rumored-halo-3-excavator/">Is this the rumored Halo 3 Excavator?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Jul 2007 14:45:00 EST. So, here we go. On July 4th <a href="http://args.bungie.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&amp;t=625">args.bungie.org</a> discovered a mysterious glyph symbol on a cardboard <em>Halo 3</em> promo item further linking our <em>Halo 3</em> to the ARG fun. July 5th brought news that the 100 lucky souls who "unlocked" the first server back on June 20th received packages from Microsoft. These packages included a sweet <em>Halo 3</em> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zacwight/730349084/">Iris tshirt</a> (yeah, we're jealous), a gamer picture download code, and some Society of the Ancients materials. On July 6th a member on the args.bungie.org forums used the power of Google to find numerous <a href="http://args.bungie.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&amp;t=655">job listings</a> by a company called Flood Containment Control. The job listings referenced to the glyph and listed cell number (888) 778-5672 which is a voice recording of a conversation. And that's where everything sits right now. The conversation on the voice recording is being analyzed (transcribed <a href="http://halo.wikibruce.com/Flood_containment_control">here</a>) as everyone is trying to put these confusing pieces together.<br /><br />This ARG has yet to kick into fourth gear and is still moving at a slow (but steady) pace. But we're watchful and hopeful that the goodness will come together soon and the missing pieces will be put into place. Until then, keep an eye on the <a href="http://halo.wikibruce.com/Outline"><em>Halo 3</em> Iris Wiki</a> for up to date recapped info. And Iris, we love you too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/08/time-for-an-update-iris-arg-is-still-kicking/">Time for an update, Iris ARG is still kicking</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Jul 2007 17:30:00 EST. But yesterday <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news2.aspx?id=13159">McFarlane</a> decided to reveal their work-in-progress models and boy are they beauts! From <em>Gnop</em> to <em>Marathon</em> to <em>Halo</em>, Bungie creates games that are teh roxorz! And this year is something special, not only because it's the year 2007 which makes use of three sevens, but because Bungie is offering up all kinds of goodies today. As we mentioned <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/06/special-bungie-goodies-on-xblm-tomorrow/">yesterday</a>, you can download a free Bungie Day theme and gamer picture set off the XBLM. But hurry, because they are only available for download today and if you miss them they'll be gone forever. You can also head over to Bungie.net and download Quicktime VR's of the <a href="http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/content.aspx?link=chopperfiction">Brute Chopper</a> and <a href="http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/content.aspx?link=cqbfiction">C.Q.B.</a>/<a href="http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/content.aspx?link=evafiction">E.V.A.</a> armor variants and learn some interesting facts about them. Also, they put up a new <em>Halo 3</em> <a href="http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?at=60&amp;cc=21&amp;item=0">wallpaper</a> in their gallery which is the same artwork featured on the Gamepro cover. Finally, Frankie mentioned in yesterday's <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&amp;cid=12625">Bungie Weekly Update</a> that the <em>Halo 2</em> Blastacular maps would be free starting today. <strike>But, after signing into <em>Halo 2</em>, the Blastacular map pack still reads $4.00. Bummer ... but maybe it'll be fixed a little later in the day.</strike> Fixed! The Blastacular maps are now free.<br /><br />Thank you Bungie for creating some amazing games and being one of the most accessible developers out there. We just want to say that we love you too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/07/its-7-7-07-happy-bungie-day/">It's 7/7/07 ... Since it will be 2007 (i.e. 7/7/07, or triple 7s), there is some "extra special content" coming to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XboxLive/">Xbox Live</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm/">Marketplace</a>, according to the <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=news&amp;cid=12623">developer's website</a>, in addition to new content on Bungie.net itself.<br /><br />As to what the goodies will be, exactly, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bungie/">Bungie</a> isn't saying -- "don't get <em>too </em>excited, it's not <em>Halo 3</em>," said the newsbrief. We're predicting gamertag pictures, themes, and the like, of either <em>Halo, Marathon</em> or their long-running joke <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/01/april-fools-alert-7-bungie-announces-pimps-on-film-blizzard/">Pimps at Sea</a>.</em><br /><br />Regardless of what the content is, there's only a small window of opportunity, as the mysterious content will only be available from 5:00 am ET until 3:00 am on Sunday. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/07/06/special-bungie-goodies-on-xblm-tomorrow/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/06/reminder-bungie-day-goodies-on-xblm-tomorrow/">Reminder: Bungie Day goodies on XBLM tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jul 2007 20:57:00 EST. Above (and even bigger <a href="http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?at=59&amp;cc=21&amp;item=0">here</a>) is the campaign screenshot featuring Master Chief in front of a mountainous backdrop standing in his signature heroic pose. Bungie <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&amp;cid=12616">came forward</a> with some more <a href="http://xbox360fanboy.com/tag/halo3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> screens and details on the maps Last Resort and Epitaph. They even briefly acknowledged the leaks that have riddling the interwebz before the Beta became public. They also discuss the two Spartan armor permutations shown thus far, the E.V.A. (Extra Vehicular Activities) and C.Q.B. (Close Quarters Battle), with assurances that they are only of the many available to be unlocked. Finally, they discuss the Brute Chopper, which evidently tops out at 75 mph. The <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo3/">Halo 3</a> </em>hype has hit the Land of the Rising Sun, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bungie/">Bungie's</a> shooter placing second on Amazon Japan's list of <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/">bestselling videogames</a> as of this writing, sandwiched between <em>Dragon Quest Swords </em>at three and Capcom's <em>Gotcha Force </em>for GameCube at number one.<br />
<br />
The only other Xbox 360 title to place in the top 25 is <em>Oblivion </em>at number seven, which is likely bolstered by 2,300 yen (US $18.75) discount if you buy the American RPG <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9E%E3%82%A4%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%82%BD%E3%83%95%E3%83%88-15783421-Halo-%E3%83%AA%E3%83%9F%E3%83%86%E3%83%83%E3%83%89-%E3%82%A8%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3/dp/B000FSEM4C/ref=pd_ts_vg_2/503-4340640-8769509?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames">with <em>Halo 3</em></a><em> </em>or <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%8A%E3%83%A0%E3%82%B3-15783661-%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B9%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3%E3%83%99%E3%83%AB-~%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%91%E3%83%B3%E3%81%AE%E5%A4%A2~/dp/B000GJ5FHI/ref=pd_bxgy_vg_img_b/503-4340640-8769509">with <em>Trusty Bell</em></a><em> </em>(known elsewhere as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/05/360s-eternal-sonata-briefly-tops-amazon-japan-charts/"><em>Eternal Sonata</em></a>)<em>.</em> <br />
<br />
Savings aside, <em>Halo 3</em> has a lot going against it in the Japanese market -- an American-made first-person shooter for Microsoft's unpopular Xbox 360 -- and it still managed to be popular. Master Chief invades Japan September 27, and we'll be interested to see how the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Japanesehardwaresales/">Japanese hardware sales</a> are affected by the release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/03/halo-3-almost-tops-amazon-japan/">Halo 3 almost tops Amazon Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jul 2007 17:15:00 EST. Available this October for the gotta have it price of $99.99 is a one foot tall Master Chief ARTFX figure featuring energy sword, dual magnums and our Chief in the "let's get the heck out of hear" classic pose. Yup, it's expensive and a little excessive, but how can you pass up something like this? It's not like you actually have something more important to spend $100 on ... really. No, not apple pie or our love of gas guzzling vehicles, instead they are willing to experience a little game called <em>Halo 3</em>. Currently sitting at the number two spot on the Japanese <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/">Amazon.com</a> video game best seller list is <em>Halo 3</em>. Number two! Even more interesting is that yesterday <em>Halo 3</em> was sitting on top of the rankings listed in the number one position. Master Chief's Spartan charm must be wearing down the Japanese culture's wall they've put up against Western games. Good job <em>Halo 3</em>, you may have finally cracked the code and could be the key to getting Japanese gamers to experience the 360. Though, we doubt it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/03/halo-3-climbs-japans-amazon-list/">Halo 3 climbs Japan's Amazon list</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jul 2007 10:45:00 EST. A recent visit to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bungie/">Bungie</a> has <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/800/800896p1.html">left IGN</a> with some new details and an ample number of screenshots from a post-beta <em>Halo 3</em>. In addition to new images and impressions of maps Epitaph, Shrine and <strike>Zanzibar 2</strike> Last Resort and new vehicle the Brute Chopper, Bungie also gave some new information on the Armor Permutations, which are implied as being unlockable in single-player campaigns for use in customizing your multiplayer character.<br />
<br />
The previously-announced replay videos aren't "videos," per se, but stored data of every action in a match, which therefore creates a smaller file that can be replayed in high-quality (and hopefully allow for a free-roaming camera). Replays can be cut down to specific moments, exchanged with friends, and watched as a group. You can also capture your own screenshots and trade those as well.<br />
<br />
Replays, screenshots and even custom game preferences can be transferred between players via a file share option that comes up by clicking on a player's gamertag. As IGN put it, "easy." Judging by the images, <em>Halo 3</em>'s graphics are looking better than the beta. The game is due out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/16/halo-3-to-finish-the-fight-on-september-25th/">September 25</a>.<br />

The guys at <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/800/800896p1.html">IGN</a> secretly made their way over to Bungie Studios to learn more, see more, and get a feel for what we'll be playing in September. Among the things they got to experience were the three recently announced multiplayer maps Epitaph, Last Resort and Shrine, which was shown in video form. Epitaph sounds claustrophobic, intense, and should allow for great close quarters combat with a dash of vertigo. Last Resort is Zanzibar on crack (the good kind of crack) coming back bigger, more wide open, and wearing a prettier dress. We love you Zanz ... erm, Last Resort! And then there is Shrine which is being called the desert map that is big, really big. It involves a lot of vehicle combat and should make for some intense Brute Chopper battles. Overall, those maps sound and look Splenda sweet.<br /><br />Also, IGN got to see a glimpse of the new armor permutations that will supposedly be unlocked during campaign for use in multiplayer. Though, details are still very vague. Most intriguing is that the saved film option will allow for sharing more than films. Not only will you be able to save and upload video, but Bungie will allow players to upload and share custom settings or gametypes so others can download and try out your latest custom gametype. If taking screenshots is more your thing, Bungie has you covered by allowing you to take shots and upload them to Bungie.net for all to view.<br /><br />Need more <em>Halo 3</em> goodness? Well, IGN posted <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/imgs_1.html">a bunch</a> of new <em>Halo 3</em> renders, screenshots, and aerial views of the new maps. We recommend the graphical comparison of <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/imgs_1.html">Zanzibar</a> and <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/imgs_1.html">Last Resort</a>, this <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/img_4670053.html">shot</a>, <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/img_4670054.html">this</a>, <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/img_4670179.html">this</a> and <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/img_4670244.html">this</a>. Yeah, it's like we died and went to<em> Halo 3 </em>media heaven! Apparently it had everyone suited up with Rockets, a bunch of vehicles, and the "greatest Halo experience ever experienced." Frankie went on to say that <em>Halo 1</em> fans would really have a bunch of fun with it. To us, this means one of two things: They're either bringing back Rally and Racing gametypes, or they're making an official version of "Warthog Jousting". Rockets, infinite Ammo, Indestructible vehicles, and increased health would definitely do the trick, based on the options seen in the Beta's custom matches. The update also touches on them knuckling down for the retail build, and polishing and tweaking the game. A good read, and that gametype sounds like it could make Randy Glass proud.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/30/bungie-update-hints-at-vehicular-gametype/">Bungie Update hints at vehicular gametype</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Jun 2007 22:45:00 EST. It's what ARG members refer to as an in-game lull. No, it doesn't mean Iris has been mysteriously canceled or that it sucks, because this is quite the normal occurrence in most ARGs. You see, these games go in cycles, sometimes there's a huge amount of info and work to be done while other times there's really nothing happening ... right now we're experiencing the latter. If you remember,<em> Halo 2</em>'s ilovebees extravaganza started off rather slow with only an update once every week or so until things really got juicy and payphones started ringing. So, we just wanted to tell you that Iris is not dead, we just have to be patient, and hopefully more fun will be had when new servers are unlocked. But we agree with you, waiting stinks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/28/halo-3-iris-arg-is-experiencing-some-downtime/">Halo 3 Iris ARG is experiencing some downtime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Jun 2007 13:45:00 EST. Seller kira_sendo supposedly purchased the helmet from a Microsoft employee who received the helmet via his connections within' the company. And we believe the story, because the listing looks legit enough. But look at that pricetag! Currently, the bidding is up to $166 which doesn't include the game, just the plastic Spartan helmet. We've heard plenty of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/19/bungie-comments-on-legendary-price-point/">grumblings</a> about the Legendary Edition's pricetag before, but this takes the whole expensive helmet argument to a new level. He feels that the beta was both a fun and entertaining experience, but his hands on time with the game released much of the built up <em>Halo 3</em> excitement within' him. His personal stash of <em>Halo 3</em> hype is gone.<br /><br />And we can agree with David to some extent, because Bungie is treating the <em>Halo 3</em> release differently than its we're tight lipped, no one can touch our game, <em>Halo 2</em> launch. So, we're sure some fans' hypometer may be running lower since they got hands on time and know what to expect, even if it was only a little taste of what's to come. But on the other side of the coin is that the beta has actually increased the hype in other fans' eyes, because they loved their time playing the beta and want to see, learn, and play more. But we can all agree that the <em>Halo 3</em> beta has had some effect on those who played it, good or bad.<br /><br />But what about you. Did playing the beta increase or decrease your excitement (and overall hype) for <em>Halo 3</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/25/halo-3-beta-did-it-kill-the-hype/">Halo 3 beta: Did it kill the hype?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Jun 2007 11:15:00 EST. So the previous week has come to a close and I'm back with another glorious edition of <a href="http://xbox360fanboy.com/tag/achievements101">X3F Achievements 101</a>. The past seven days had some serious grinding behind it as I finished off the amazingly tedious <em>Eragon.</em> Hopefully <em>Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End</em> be a third time's charm for film-to-game adaptations. I'll also give my interpretation of the release of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/halo-3-achievements-nuff-said/">Achievements</a>, which took the interwebs by surprise this week. Either way, there's a lot to cover from the past week, so let's get started.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/24/x3f-achievements-101-dragonriding-swashbucklers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>X3F Achievements 101: Dragonriding Swashbucklers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/24/x3f-achievements-101-dragonriding-swashbucklers/">X3F Achievements 101: Dragonriding Swashbucklers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jun 2007 20:45:00 EST.
