'Badman' character tweet hints at possible NGP title

We've never admitted to actually understanding anything about the game once known as Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This? (though we do admit to enjoying it), and so it's probably no surprise that we don't understand the Twitter account associated with the game either. Not only is it in Japanese, but it's supposed to be an in-character account created by the Lord of Destruction -- and we have no idea what he's talking about anyway.

But we do recognize the letters "NGP," as seen in this tweet, and a later tweet says that the developers are working on a new game in the "soup shoot zone." Presumably, that means we'll see a Badman interation on the PSP's successor, coming soon. Then again, not only is this Twitter account unverified, but let's not forget this is Satan we're talking about. He's not exactly the type to be trusted anyway.

Third 'Badman' game coming to Europe as 'No Heroes Allowed'

The Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida series has undergone a number of name changes in localization. NIS America originally released the PSP's evil overlord hideout design game under the hilariously unwieldy title "Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This!?" Shortly before the release of the sequel, a trademark complaint forced NIS to change the series title to "What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!?"

Now, a trailer released during Gamescom has revealed Sony Europe's plans to localize the third game, called Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida 3D in Japan, under yet another completely different title, the much pithier "No Heroes Allowed." This third game adds the ability to flood your dungeon with water in order to destroy any invading heroes, and also allows for competitive or cooperative multiplayer. Bad Company 2 in good company on Japanese sales chart

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has cracked the Japanese sales chart in its first week of release -- the only Western title to appear in the top ten -- having amassed 28,353 unit in sales of the PS3 version to reach #7 in the weekly rankings. In addition to being the only Western game in the top ten, it's also the only PS3 game!

The Media Create chart is heavy on new games this week. In addition to Battlefield, the third game in what used to be the Badman series debuted at #4, Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 on PSP entered the chart at #5, and NIS's Absolute Hero Modding Project gave the publisher a much-needed source of income at #6. RPG Maker DS is the other new title on the chart, at #8. See the full top ten after the break.

Holy trademark, NIS! 'Badman' games to be renamed [update]

What did I do to deserve this, my lord!? That is both the question on NIS America's mind and the new title of its series, once known as Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! The publisher announced that it's changing the name of the Acquire-developed action-strategy game in response to "a conflict of interest with an existing IP." We're guessing the trademark issue in question is with a certain comic book franchise owned by Warner Bros. -- Plastic Man, obviously.

This week has not been kind to NIS. Just yesterday, the Japanese parent company reported a 95 percent drop in profits, and now the American branch has to change the name of one of its franchises midstream. May 4 is the new release date for what is now called What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2.

[Update: May is indeed a new release date for the game: it was originally slated for March.]

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman 2! to include prequel! For free!

Did you miss the first release of Holy Invasion of Privay, Badman!? Don't worry if you did, because it appears NIS America is readying a spectacular bonus for the upcoming sequel. According to an Amazon.com listing, the "complete original game [is] included for free." Yep, it's two games for the price of one, and who doesn't like a promo like that?

It's unclear if this bonus will apply only to the UMD version of the game, or if the PSN version will also benefit. Considering how often PSP Go owners have been screwed, we wouldn't be surprised if the digital release arrived late with no discount and no prequel bonus.

NIS America wants to bring Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! to UMD

The historical preservationists at NIS America are attempting to save the increasingly endangered beast known as the "Universal Media Disc." You probably haven't heard of the format -- your parents most assuredly have. Though we currently live in an age of incorporeal digital software, the developer is attempting to re-release its eccentric dungeon dive, Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? in a limited edition UMD format -- provided enough PSP owners show interest in owning a tangible copy of the game.

If over 1,000 supervillains-in-training pre-order the UMD version of Badman by November 13, NIS will go through with actually producing them, shipping out to their respective buyers in mid-December. Seems like it'll be a tough putt -- but we're sure there's 1,000 fans of both obscure strategy games and tiny, plastic-armored discs tucked away in some pocket in the internet.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman 2! Time to Tighten Up Security! -- the trailer

At Tokyo Game Show 2009, NIS America took the time to announce a few new games for Western release. Amongst them was the sequel to Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!. The retro-themed anti-hero game comes equipped with 4 times more stages, 3.3 times more monsters and 2.3 times more heroes than the first game. The hilarious sort-of-localized trailer makes note that creatures at your disposal can also mutate through deformity, obesity and gigantism.

Most likely, the Badman sequel will skip UMD and head straight to PSN release. Makes sense, considering the bite-sized nature of the game. But if for some reason you insist on having plastic packaging, go to the PlayStation.Blog to tell NIS that you really want a UMD version of the first game.

PSA: NIS America's PSP re-releases half price on PSN

As we reported earlier this month, NIS America is making several of its previously UMD-only PSP games available for download from the US PlayStation Store late tonight / early tomorrow morning to coincide with the launch of PSP Go.

For a period of one week, Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Dragoneer's Aria, Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman!, Mana Khemia: Student Alliance and Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? will be available at 50% off their normal cost -- a welcome offer, given that many digital titles on the store are keeping pricing parity with their retail UMD equivalents.

NIS is also asking visitors to the PlayStation Blog whether they want to see a UMD release of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! by means of a poll that currently has the "ayes" and "nays" running nearly neck-and-neck.

TGS 2009: NIS America announces Badman 2, Atelier Rorona

During a lunch event conveniently located both near TGS proper and extremely near our hotel (so near, in fact, that it was in it), NIS America announced two new games for PlayStation systems. Atelier Rorona, the latest in Gust's Atelier RPG series (and recently confirmed for Europe), will be released in North America in summer of 2010, and the sequel to the improbably-titled Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? will be released for PSP in North America in early 2010. We guess the title didn't hurt sales too much!

NIS didn't have assets at the moment, but we were able to find screenshots through the magic of remembering that the game came out in Japan last year.

Holy do-over, Badman! New Euro demo coming along with updated PSP firmware

Last week, a European demo of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? was released on PSN, requiring PSP firmware 5.55 to run. One minor issue: firmware 5.55 isn't available for download. That means that the Badman demo is effectively exclusive to people who bought Dissidia Final Fantasy or Soulcalibur Broken Destiny, two games that have the new firmware on the disc. What did Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! do to deserve this?

NIS's Allison Walter outlined the company's plan to correct this unfortunate situation on the PlayStation Blog, inadvertently announcing the release of an upcoming firmware in the process. "We're going to re-release it next Thursday, 10 Sept," she said in response to user Killzone_Kid, "by which time Firmware 6.0 should have been released. Sorry for the wait!" You'll be repelling heroes from your subterranean lair in no time!

NIS reveals Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! for PSP

Oh, so this is what that bizarre trademark was about. NIS has just revealed a new PSP game called Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? via the PlayStation.Blog. This is a heavily localized version of Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida, a mix between Dig Dug and Dungeon Keeper. You must protect the villain, Badman, from the approaching do-gooders who want him dead. In order to do this you'll need to dig around, create monsters and keep balanced the delicate Demon Ecosystem. Sounds intriguing to us!

We're not sure we're going to truly understand the game until we see it in action, but until then you can check out a bunch of confusingly mysterious screenshots in our gallery. It sounds like it won't be too long before the game is out, with a demo being made available on the PSN Store "soon." Check out the PlayStation.Blog for more information, as well as instructions on how to enter the Holy Hidden Codes, Badman online contest.

Sony registers trademark: 'Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!'

Would you buy a game called Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!? We would. This trademark, discovered by superannuation, was filed by SCEI less than a week ago. Unfortunately, the additional information section of the listing features the rather unhelpful "NOT AVAILABLE." We don't think we'll see anything come from this trademark soon, but it will be hilarious when it eventually comes to fruition.
