</small> Android may not have the same games catalog as iOS, but it's definitely starting to grow. id -- developers of the <a href="http://www.idsoftware.com/games/mobile/doom-rpg/"><em>DOOM</em> RPG</a> and upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/12/quakecon-rage-coming-to-iphone-running-at-60fps/"><em>Rage</em> for iPhone</a> -- has placed a <a href="http://jobs.gamasutra.com/jobseekerx/viewjobrss.asp?cjid=23463&amp;accountno=73661">job listing</a> for an Android programmer, suggesting the team is looking to expand to Google's mobile platform. According to the listing, "id Software is looking for a talented and experienced programmer to help bring our next big Mobile game to the Android space." Presumably, that big game could be <em>Rage</em>, but there's no confirmation.<br />
<br />
"The Android programmer is responsible for familiarizing themselves with existing id Mobile engines, bringing Mobile development to Android" and should be intelligent enough to understand John Carmack's <a href="http://twitter.com/id_aa_carmack">Twitter feed</a>. Damn, guess that rules us out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/12/id-mobile-hiring-android-programmer/">id Mobile hiring Android programmer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Sep 2010 15:00:00 EST. The studio will be focused on games for cell phones, DS and PSP, with a few titles (like a mobile <em>Wolfenstein</em>) already in the works.<br /><br />id and Fountainhead have been headed this way for a while, after <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Doom%20RPG">Doom RPG</a> </em>and the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Orcs%20and%20Elves">Orcs and Elves</a></em> games. As you've probably seen, most mobile games are pretty awful (something even id's John Carmack admitted to in <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/games/doom-rpg/mobile/game-features/carmack-on-id-mobile-crap-games-and-why-ipod-sucks/4674/71158/">this interview</a> about the new division), but if anyone can turn that around, we have faith that Carmack's the guy. (Especially since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/carmacks-lunar-lander-blows-up-we-feel-guilty/">the rocket thing</a> didn't pan out.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/id-software-and-fountainhead-create-id-mobile/">id Software and Fountainhead create id Mobile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 10:16:00 EST.
