It might not say a <em>thousand</em> words, but this picture says enough to bring into question statements by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> community manager Sam_Protagonist, who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/dev-no-plans-for-lbp-image-importing/">claimed</a> the development team had "no plans to introduce" image importing into the game. Clearly, this "work in progress" (as it's called), which appeared in Media Molecules <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mediamolecule/3002663511/">Flickr stream</a> yesterday, shows that the team is developing an "Image Import Tool" that pulls images from the PlayStation 3 hard drive and sticks 'em to players' creations. Indeed, in his denial, Sam_Protagonist did admit that importing is "very much technically viable."<br /><br />Still, as Sam implied, there are obvious copyright and balls-on-the-walls issues that complicate the introduction of an image-importing tool. Until those are resolved, consider this update <em>for internal use only.</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tawkn.com/index.php?page=site-newspost&amp;news_id=752">TAWKN</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/media-molecule-teases-lbp-image-import-tool/">Media Molecule teases LBP 'Image Import Tool'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 11:56:00 EST. <div align="left">Who fancies a game of "will they, won't they?" After stating that image importing from your hard drive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/image-importing-coming-to-littlebigplanet-by-xmas/">will be coming</a> to <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> at Game City Media Molecule seemed to change tact and stated yesterday that there were "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/currently-no-plans-for-littlebigplanet-image-importing/">currently no plans</a>" to implement such a feature. Normally that's where the issue would end, but some eagle eyed <em>LBP</em> fans have noticed something fishy on the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mediamolecule/3002663511/sizes/l/in/photostream/">Media Molecule flickr page</a>.<br /><br />The photo above (click it to see the full size version) is captioned "work in progress" and shows a new Popit menu tool. An "image import tool" which allows you to "import images from your PlayStation Hard Drive to use as stickers." The photo was uploaded yesterday, the same day Media Molecule denied having any plans for such a feature. <br /><br />Sure, it could be a Media Molecule exclusive tool and not for external distribution, but then why post a photo of it when they know we're expecting the feature to be patched in? Only time will tell what exactly is going on. Until then, keep your PlayStation Eyes handy, just in case. Also, did you notice that Sackboy in the bottom right hand corner? So did we. We want it.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tawkn.com/index.php?page=site-newspost&amp;news_id=752">Tawkn</a>]</div>

Posting on <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=littlebigplanet&amp;message.id=179461#M179461">PlayStation Forums</a>, a Media Molecule representative has discounted <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/11/03/image-importing-coming-to-littlebigplanet-by-xmas/">recent claims</a> that image importing would be patched into <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> by year's end. "[Image] importing is very much technically viable ... however there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons," explained <em>LBP</em> community manager Sam_Protagonist, adding, "we'll update if that changes." Oh well, guess we'll just have to recreate our Sistine Chapel level by hand, then.<br /><br />It's worth noting that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/">LittleBigPlanet</a></em> allows creators using <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-eye/">PlayStation Eye</a> cameras to snap and import images of, well, <em>anything.</em> Just remember what Uncle Ben said: "With great power, comes great responsibility."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tawkn.com/index.php?page=site-newspost&amp;news_id=746">TAWKN</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/dev-no-plans-for-lbp-image-importing/">Dev: 'no plans' for LBP image importing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 12:17:00 EST.
