Visceral was said to be seen hunched over its work table, working on its downloadable title <em>The Ripper</em> and laughing manically until some time in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/22/visceral-games-ripper-psn-xbla/">2010</a>, when the project faded away without a trace.<br /><br />Finally, in 2012, we may have cracked <em>The Ripper </em>wide open. Former Visceral concept artist Joey Spiotto has a batch of concept art for an unnamed game on his website, and it leads to one obvious conclusion -- <em>The Ripper</em>. Spiotto lists work on his LinkedIn profile on an unannounced project for Visceral from <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/pub/joey-spiotto/3/b0b/266">2008-2009</a>, and directly after for EA, where he says the project was canceled in 2009.<br /><br />The screens depict shadowy figures, bloody vampire-esque characters, acrobatics, a leading lady and a cane katana of some kind. Check out the full run of screens on <a href="http://jo3bot.com/Concept.html#0">Spiotto's website</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/24/all-clues-point-to-concept-art-for-viscerals-canned-jack-the-ri/">All clues point to concept art for Visceral's canned Jack the Ripper title</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 10:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: right;"><small>[<em>The Illustrated London News;</em> October 13, 1888]</small></div>
Of the many highlights from the Wedbush firm's visit to EA HQ last week, as recorded in analyst Michael Pachter's report on the publisher released to media outlets today, one stuck out like, well, like a <em>19th century serial killer</em>. Pachter has apparently announced <em>Ripper, </em>a "new PSN, Xbox Live game" from Visceral Games. In other words, put <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/06/ea-trademarks-the-ripper-could-be-viscerals-next-game/">two</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/22/visceral-games-working-on-xbla-psn-offerings-says-general-mana/">two</a> together, my dear Watson, and that rumored Jack the Ripper game is actually Visceral Games' <em>reported</em> downloadable project.<br />
<br />
Pachter's notes don't provide additional details on the <em>Ripper</em> game and only reiterate that Visceral also has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-space-2"><em>Dead Space 2</em></a> in development. When questioned, a Visceral Games representative issued a "no comment" to Joystiq. We'll keep sleuthing around for clues, though -- and in the meantime, kindly report any suspicious-looking games to our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/contact/tips/">tips line</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/22/visceral-games-ripper-psn-xbla/">'Ripper' is Visceral Games' PSN &amp; XBLA game, according to Pachter report</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Mar 2010 15:00:00 EST. It's a well-known fact that for the past year or so, Electronic Arts has developed an insatiable addiction for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-space">new intellectual</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dantes-inferno">property</a>. Rather than kick the habit, the company's making moves to further feed its franchise fixation -- EA recently <a href="http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&amp;entry=77838073">filed two</a> <a href="http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&amp;entry=77838069">trademarks</a> reserving the title "The Ripper" for use in a computer game (or other "entertainment service").<br />
<br />
Now, this title could mean one of two things: It may be a Visceral Games-developed action title based on Jack the Ripper, a project which was hinted at by <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2009/07/eas-visceral-studio-losing-leaders-making-jack-the-ripper-game.html">anonymous EA sources to the LA Times</a> back in July. It could also be an interactive biography of the life of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiPWE6LaP7o">Rip Taylor</a>, which has <em>no</em> supporting evidence behind it whatsoever, but would make us happy for the rest of our lives.<br />

Sherlock Holmes is bringing the fight to legendary slasher Jack the Ripper on the Xbox 360. According to <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57766">Shacknews</a>, the upcoming adventure game is currently in development for the console by Spiders Games and will pit the world-famous detective against the heinous serial-killer.<br /><br />A PC version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sherlock-holmes-vs-jack-the-ripper">Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper</a></em> (developed by Frogwares Studio) has already seen a release in Europe and should ship Stateside sometime in the summer. What will happen when Holmes squares off against Jack? We're hoping for the camera to pullout to reveal the entire adventure was a setup for a <em>Mortal Kombat</em> style fighter. Or maybe that's a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr9BPGXjrT0&amp;feature=related">bad idea</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/22/sherlock-holmes-and-jack-the-ripper-bring-the-fight-to-xbox/">Sherlock Holmes &amp; Jack the Ripper bring the fight to Xbox</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Mar 2009 12:00:00 EST.
