Hideo Kojima receives lifetime achievement award from MTV

MTV has awarded Hideo Kojima its first-ever lifetime achievement award for games as part of its MTV Game Awards 2008, held Nov. 22 in Germany. The award was presented to Kojima, who appeared in person, by Assassin's Creed producer (and fan of his work) Jade Raymond.

Far from the end of his lifetime in games, the legendary designer commented, "I have to say, even though I received this award, let me state that I will not retire. I will continue to create games as long as I live." You can watch a video of Kojima's acceptance speech after the break.

Ubisoft hopes I Am Alive can be 'another strong franchise'

Well, of course it does. Ubisoft didn't get where it is today by throwing popular franchises like Splinter Cell away after a single use (although our neck-snapping pal Sam seems to have been misplaced recently), and you can be sure that the upcoming disaster survival adventure ... thing, I Am Alive, will be no different. "We hope it can be another strong franchise for our portfolio, alongside Prince Of Persia or Rayman Rabbids," the publisher's executive director, Alain Corre, told MCV. "It's a new baby for us – and we have big hopes."

Provided it's raised properly and doesn't turn into a snot-nosed brat who sticks Legos up his nose and puts his Altair action figures in the microwave, this baby could be the best kind of disaster to befall any company. Of course, we should probably wait until we've played the first one before we sign off on "I Am Still Alive," and "Seriously, Stop Trying to Kill Me You Stupid Planet."

I Am Alive will not make its debut at Leipzig, says Ubisoft

While it was rumored Ubisoft and Jade Raymond would reveal their new title, I Am Alive, at E3, it turned out they did no such thing. Now CVG got word that they have no plans to reveal the title at Leipzig, either. There's no reason behind the decision, so it's most likely too early in development to show anything substantial. If that's true, then we probably won't see it at the Tokyo Game Show, but we ought to hear something before the end of the year. This is shaping up to be a holiday '09 release!

E308: Ubisoft reveals 'I Am Alive'

To close its 2008 E3 Press Conference, Ubisoft unveiled the first trailer for I Am Alive. The adventure title places gamers in the center of a ruined Chicago, fighting for survival and forcing players to "think, react and take risks that will directly affect themselves and those around them."

The disaster game had been in the news prior to E3 as earlier reports suggested Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed, was at the helm of the title. Currently the title is scheduled to release on "current generation video game consoles" in Spring 2009. Nothing specific about the game is known but for a taste of what you could expect check our Disaster Report. Actually. Don't -- that game was the definition of mediocre.

Rumor: Ubisoft and Jade Raymond may reveal I Am Alive at E3

Ubisoft has a new project up their sleeves -- this one's believed to be called I Am Alive and produced by Jade Raymond, of Assassin's Creed fame. The game may come out as soon as Spring of 2009 and has been in work at Ubisoft's Parisian studio for three years.

But what exactly is this game? Why has it been kept secret for so long? I Am Alive is rumored to be a first-person action title set in Chicago after a massive earthquake. Your character survived and it's up to you to make sure he or she continues surviving. An announcement may come at E3 and a playable demo may be available in August at Leipzig, but it's all hearsay at this point. We'll keep you posted.

Gamekyo: Jade Raymond working on surival game 'I Am Alive'

We kind of assumed that after the sales success of Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft would tie Jade Raymond to the property and flog them both until one gave out. But apparently, the company thinks the Jade Raymond Media Bump would be better applied to a new IP: Gamekyo's reporting this morning that she's moved on to I Am Alive, a survival game that's set in a Chicago just rocked by an earthquake.

It seems though that she'll be making the leap in the final act of the game's development: Darkworks of Cold Fear fame has been working on the game, allegedly slated for spring 2009, for three years. We're supposed to hear some more about it at E3, so here's hoping that Jade presents the game and we get to experience that rarest of phenomenons, a mass nerd swoon, firsthand.

Assassin's Creed confirmed for DS, release in February

It's our turn for the big news today, after Nintendo's US press conference, and Assassin's Creed for the DS is leading the pack. Jade Raymond's action-oriented historical quest has been rumored for the handheld for months, but a huge list of upcoming Nintendo releases confirmed the title's existence. In what form, we cannot yet speculate, but suffice to say that we're hoping for the best rendition Ubisoft can squeeze out of a pair of screens, and not some minigame-fueled spin-off.

Lesson: apparently, we should really, really listen to GameStop-fueled rumors, because they are so often true.

Joystiq talks with Jade Raymond of Assassin's Creed

Joystiq recently got a chance to sit down with Jade Raymond, producer of the upcoming super sneaky kill-a-thon Assassin's Creed. Don't let her harsh, unforgiving exterior fool you. She's actually quite personable, apparently. The interview discusses all things Assassiin's Creed, including crowd-based gameplay, personalizing Altair (the game's protagonist), and the whole "games as art" debate. It's a short read, but it is most definitely sweet. Oh, and the interview contains the word "Holodeck." That alone should be enough to get some of our Trekkie readers to click through. Seriously though, hit the "read" link and check it out.

Joystiq interviews Jade Raymond of Assassin's Creed

Oh, Jade. You surely are Ubisoft's finest asset, with your playful and inquisitive eyes inviting us to relive the many adventures we had after our first and far too brief meeting. If only we could be reunited and take some more pictures of our escapades. If only mere images could capture your boldness, allure and glistening green lips! Where is Beyond Good & Evil 2?

Putting our reminiscing aside, we can talk about the other Jade at Ubisoft -- Jade Raymond, producer of big budget bump-off epic, Assassin's Creed. More specifically, we can talk about us talking to her about sandboxes, flower boxes, pushy crowds and Star Trek's Holodeck in a brief Tokyo Game Show chat. Find it after the break.
