<em>Altered Beast</em> is about to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOQcnliEjXM">wise fwom its gwave</a> on 3DS. Sega has <a href="http://archives.sega.jp/3d/juouki/index.html">announced</a> that <em>Altered Beast 3D</em> will arrive on the eShop next week in Japan, bringing with it several new features, according to <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/51067526901/altered-beast-welcomed-to-its-doom-the-3ds-hey">Tiny Cartridge</a>. Like the Japanese <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-rolls-onto-3ds-eshop-in-japan-this-week/">eShop re-release of <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em></a>, <em>Altered Beast 3D</em> will include both the Japanese and western versions of the game, button remapping and an optional mode that emulates CRT monitors.<br />
<br />
None of Sega's 3DS re-releases have been confirmed for a North American release, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/21/space-harrier-3d-gliding-onto-eshop/"><em>Space Harrier</em></a>, <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/45777972965/3d-super-hang-on-the-second-3d-updated-sega"><em>Super Hang-On</em></a>, <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> and, now, <em>Altered Beast</em>. Tiny Cartridge does note, however, that <em>Space Harrier</em> was recently confirmed for Europe, so there may be hope the game will be added to North America's growing Sega eShop library.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/altered-beast-3d-coming-to-eshop-in-japan/">Altered Beast 3D coming to eShop in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 20:00:00 EST. Skullgirls, the little fighting game that could, just keeps on chugging. The magazine image above was discovered by <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=560302">NeoGAF</a>, showing Skullgirls listed for release in Japanese arcades (7th from the bottom). That's a very big deal for an independently developed American fighting game. Developer Lab Zero Games acknowledged as much on NeoGAF, with studio head Peter "Ravidrath" Bartholow <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=58296016&amp;postcount=35">confirming the news</a> saying, "We are stupidly excited for this, just because I can't think of a single other non-Japanese dev that can say they have a game out in Japanese arcades."<br />
<br />
He <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=58296194&amp;postcount=38">added</a> that a Japanese company is handling the port. Furthermore, the game will be out "as soon as possible," and the recently crowd-funded <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/skullgirls-fourth-new-character-is-beowolf/">DLC characters</a> will be added in future updates.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/skullgirls-to-beat-down-japanese-arcades/">Skullgirls to beat down Japanese arcades</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 02:00:00 EST. <br />
The PlayStation Japan website just unveiled a trailer for what's apparently a new Japan Studio game, possibly called <em>Panopticon</em> going by the page name. The unveiling followed a week-long countdown, which was more like a count-up since the timer eventually ticked up to "1,000,000 years." It did just that at 6AM ET, with this trailer in its stead.<br />
<br />
The trailer depicts a futuristic, totalitarian world where citizens are seemingly identified by virtually visualized ID numbers. There's no indication of any platforms or release date.<br />
<br />
Earlier this year, <a href="http://gamingeverything.com/38990/scee-trademarks-panopticon-redblack-symbol/">it was spotted</a> SCE Europe <a href="http://esearch.oami.europa.eu/copla/trademark/data/011512407">trademarked</a> <em>Panopticon. </em>The word <a href="http://www.thefreedictionary.com/panoptic">traces it roots</a> to the Greek language, and means to "include everything visible in one view."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/sonys-panopticon-countdown-ends-with-mysterious-trailer/">Sony's Panopticon countdown ends with mysterious trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 06:00:00 EST. In Japan-always-seems-to-have-the-coolest-3DS-skins news, the country's getting a new Metallic Red 3DS as well as - and we admit we're particularly jealous of this one - a very limited edition 3DS XL skin based on Eevee, the adorable critter from the Pok&eacute;mon series.<br />
<br />
The striped 3DS XL, which rather resembles 1960s wallpaper, was spotted by <a href="http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7117840.html">Hachima</a> being advertized in one of Japan's official Pok&eacute;mon Center stores. Like last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/26/charizard-3ds-xl-lights-up-japanese-pokemon-centers/">Charizard 3DS XL</a>, the &yen;18,900 system ($185) is only available via reservations, which then go into a lottery to win the chance to buy the system. In other words, this is one of those times when the words 'limited edition' genuinely apply. The lottery is being held until June 3.<br />
<br />
More freely available is the Metallic Red 3DS below, which will be released for &yen;15,000 ($147) on June 13. Like the Light Blue and Gloss Pink models announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/">earlier this year,</a> it includes a 4GB SD card.<br />

A 3D-enhanced version of <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> spins its way onto Japan's 3DS eShop on May 15. As <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/49932545629/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-coming-to-eshop-segas-3ds">Tiny Cartridge</a> reports, the latest of Sega's 3D portable reworks has some interesting additions, including optional spin dashes, button remapping, and being able to choose either the Japanese or western version of the game.<br />
<br />
You'd think that last one would indicate an impending western arrival, but we're still waiting on the 3D-enhanced versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/21/space-harrier-3d-gliding-onto-eshop/"><em>Space Harrier</em></a> and <em><a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/45777972965/3d-super-hang-on-the-second-3d-updated-sega">Super Hang-On</a></em>. We've reached out to Sega to find out what, if anything, is on the horizon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-rolls-onto-3ds-eshop-in-japan-this-week/">3D Sonic the Hedgehog rolls onto 3DS eShop in Japan this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 02:00:00 EST. A DLC-stuffed version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii-2"><em>Final Fantasy XIII-2</em></a> is headed for Japanese retail shelves on July 18. Square Enix released a ton of additional content for the JRPG sequel, and the 'Digital Contents Collection,' going for around $50, offers most of it.<br />
<br />
The bundle features the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/lightnings-story-finally-hits-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Snow</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/lightnings-story-finally-hits-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Lightning</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/16/new-dlc-brings-afros-and-bikinis-to-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Sazh</a> episodes, as well as three weapons, seven costumes, and six Coliseum opponents. <a href="http://gematsu.com/2013/05/final-fantasy-xiii-2-dlc-collection-announced-for-japan">Gematsu</a> has the full list. Also, the DLC from the Collection is coming in its own bundle to PSN and XBLM.<br />
<br />
Square Enix is also re-releasing the game in the country under the 'Ultimate Hits' label. That version arrives in stores on the same day, but also on PSN and XBLM two days prior.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/final-fantasy-xiii-2-dlc-collection-announced-for-japan-coming/">Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC Collection announced for Japan, coming in July</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 11:15:00 EST. As approximately projected, Square Enix posted a net loss of &yen;13.7 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31 2013, that converting to around $134 million. Back in March, Square Enix announced it was implementing major restructuring that would produce an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-president-wada-to-step-down-106m-restructuring-l/">"extraordinary loss"</a>. Today the company further detailed its new strategy for the next fiscal year, in which it projects a return to profit.<br />
<br />
"The business environment surrounding the [Square Enix] Group is in the midst of major changes, where smart devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs are spreading rapidly," Square Enix stated in today's results, "while the console game markets in North America and Europe are increasingly competitive and oligopolistic. In light of such environmental changes, the Group is focusing all efforts on a substantial earnings improvement through driving reforms of business structure in order to establish new revenue base."<br />
<br />
Square Enix previously noted<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-weak-sales-tomb-raider-hitman-absolution/"> "weak" sales of "big console titles"</a> in North America and Europe, including <em>Sleeping Dogs</em>, <em>Hitman: Absolution</em>, and even <em>Tomb Raider</em>. Today the company said it will increasingly target smartphones and tablets, citing <em>Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade</em> and <em>Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur </em>as satisfactorily profitable. Square Enix also noted <em>Dragon Quest X </em>as "showing steady performance."<br />
<br />
As such, the restructuring brings overhauls to Square Enix's larger-scale development,with the company looking to improve turnover and produce content better tailored for different regions. Square Enix was clearly dissatisfied with the performance of its western portfolio, and layoffs were incurred in the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/02/layoffs-square-enix-los-angeles/">North American</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/square-enix-lays-off-staff-in-europe/">European</a> divisions.<br />
<br />
Square Enix believes these changes will be the platform for profit in the coming fiscal year, projecting net income of between &yen;3.5 billion and &yen;6 billion, or $34.4 million to $59 million.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/square-enix-posts-134m-fiscal-net-loss-projects-profit-for-com/">Square Enix posts $134M fiscal net loss, projects profit for coming year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. The Japanese release of the CD will come in a special box with art by character designer Yoshitaka Amano.<br /><br />While the CD soundtrack likely won't see official release in North America, you can purchase it from an importer like <a href="http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SQEX-10373">CDJapan</a>. And Square Enix is <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/square-enix-music/id300171518">surprisingly good</a> about digitally releasing soundtracks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/square-enix-releasing-remaster-soundtracks-for-snes-final-fant/">Square Enix releasing 'Remaster' soundtracks for SNES Final Fantasy games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Apr 2013 19:30:00 EST. The giant machine uses eight side-by-side treadmills to compete in 100 meter dash, long jump, and 110 meter hurdles. You won't have to make yourself ill trying to do spin jumps, as that's handled by a button.<br /><br />The &yen;500 ($5.11) attraction seems a lot more sensible than Sonic's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/04/sonic-free-riders-review/">last attempt</a> at motion controls. Even if playing it results in spending the rest of your day at the Tokyo amusement park covered in sweat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/you-gotta-go-fast-on-the-new-treadmill-based-sonic-arcade-game/">You gotta go fast on the new treadmill-based Sonic arcade game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Apr 2013 10:00:00 EST. Iru and Luka were the stars in the Game Boy Color's <i>Dragon Quest Monsters 2</i>.<br /><br /><i>Dragon Quest Monsters 2</i> was originally released as a set of two cartridges, as was the popular thing to do back when the <i>Pokemon</i> craze was at its peak. Each cart featured a different playable protagonist and its own unique set of collectible monsters, which players could trade with others via the Game Boy's link cable. Both versions were later released in North America as <i>Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Adventure</i> and <i>Cobi's Journey</i>.<br /><br />A remake of 1998's <i>Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland</i> launched for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan last year and met with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/07/square-enix-sees-losses-in-fiscal-q1-but-handheld-and-social-ga/">stellar sales</a>. The remade sequel will likely join its predecessor on the Nintendo 3DS, and the trademarked subtitle indicates that it will consolidate content from the two Game Boy Color releases.<br /><br />A U.S. release for <i>Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D</i> has not been announced.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/26/rumor-japanese-trademark-suggests-dragon-quest-monsters-2-remak/">Rumor: Japanese trademark suggests Dragon Quest Monsters 2 remake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Apr 2013 19:45:00 EST. It's due in Japan on May 9, Konami announced today, which suggests it won't make the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/13/metal-gear-rising-revengeance-gets-jetstream-blade-wolf-dlc-in/">April date</a> originally given for the North American release.<br /><br />The preceding Jetstream Sam DLC was met with complaints that it wasn't actually that different from the base game. We're holding out hope that this new pack will be a more varied experience - after all, Blade Wolf is much less similar to Raiden than Sam was, what with the four legs and all.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/26/metal-gear-risings-blade-wolf-dlc-out-in-japan-may-9/">Metal Gear Rising's Blade Wolf DLC out in Japan May 9</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Apr 2013 11:00:00 EST. While we know the eight games initial confirmed for the Virtual Console launch in North America, we're still waiting on an ETA - we'll update this post as soon as we know.<br /><br />Europe's initial Virtual Console launch largely mirrors <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/23/wii-u-virtual-console-launch-punch-out-excitebike-f-zero-5-m/">North America's</a>: <em>Donkey Kong. Jr</em>, <em>Excitebike</em>, <em>Ice Climbers</em>, <em>Punch Out</em>, <em>F-Zero</em>, and <em>Super Mario World</em> appear in both line-ups. Europe, however, doesn't get <em>Kirby's Adventure</em> and <em>Balloon Fight</em> - that may be to do with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/25/wii-u-virtual-console-drags-50hz-versions-to-europe/">the criticism</a> Nintendo received for releasing the slower 50Hz version of <em>Balloon Fight</em> in the region earlier this year. In the two games' European stead is <em>Mario's Super Picross</em>.<br /><br />In contrast, Japan's starting line-up is beefy. It features <em>Ice Climbers</em>, <em>Spelunker</em>, <em>Excitebike</em>, <em>Xevious</em>, <em>Downtown Nekketsu March: Let's Go to the Great Athletic Meet</em>, <em>Balloon Fight</em>, <em>F-Zero</em>, <em>Super Mario World</em>, <em>Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts</em>, <em>Mother 2</em>,<em> Kirby's Adventure</em>, <em>Mario's Super Picross</em>, <em>Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu</em>, and <em>Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem</em>.<br /><br />Finally, Nintendo also confirmed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/panorama-view">Panorama View</a> app arrives in Europe and Japan tomorrow, with both regions getting four starting videos to enjoy in 360&deg; on the GamePad.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/26/wii-u-virtual-console-panorama-view-launches-in-eu-japan-tomor/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii U Virtual Console, Panorama View launches in EU, Japan tomorrow [update: NA VC live]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/26/wii-u-virtual-console-panorama-view-launches-in-eu-japan-tomor/">Wii U Virtual Console, Panorama View launches in EU, Japan tomorrow [update: NA VC live]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Apr 2013 08:00:00 EST. In a follow-up conference call to last week's financial statement, the company clarified that most of the canceled games were due between April 2014 and March 2015, although a few were scheduled for the current fiscal year ending March 2014.<br /><br />Capcom revised its financial forecasts <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/capcom-adjusts-forecasts-following-canceled-games-revises-strat/">last week</a> with a "special loss" of around $73 million, due to those cancellations. The company also announced a switch to more internal development following disappointment with projects outsourced overseas.<br /><br />Asked if the company was considering reducing "the number of development lines for home video games," Capcom said developing for that market is still the core element of its strategy. Even if packaged software sales drop, the company said it believes console and online (such as DLC) sales will continue to increase.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/capcom-none-of-the-canceled-games-had-been-announced/">Capcom: None of the canceled games had been announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Apr 2013 18:15:00 EST. The modem was released separately, and allowed web browsing along with online play of games including <em>Duke Nukem 3D</em> and <em>Virtua Racing</em>.<br /><br />Super Magnetic says that this prototype, which runs North American Saturn firmware, is one of only two ever made. The American firmware, and Super Magnetic's having found this at his job at Sega of America in the Dreamcast era, both suggest that this hardware design is from Sega of America, much like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_32X">the 32X</a>.<br /><br />A prototype for another unreleased Sega combination system, the Genesis/32X "Neptune," was on display recently at GDC's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/27/take-a-tour-of-the-videogame-history-museum-at-gdc-2013/">Videogame History Museum</a>. He works with the president and her cabinet of young women, because this is a visual novel and <em>what would it even be about</em> if not choosing who to date?<br /><br />This game involves a large portion of the Japanese game industry in some nominal way. 5pb is publishing a game based on a universe originally published by Level-5; Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture designed the original game, and Suda is writing scenarios for this one; Grasshopper is now part of Gungho Online Entertainment, which is itself now part of telecom company Softbank.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/level-5-and-grasshoppers-liberation-maiden-becomes-an-adventu/">Level-5 and Grasshopper's 'Liberation Maiden' becomes an adventure game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Apr 2013 11:45:00 EST. U</em>. Nintendo is calling 2013 'The Year of Luigi,' and so far the year's brought us a new Luigi's Mansion game and the announcement of the upcoming <em>NSMB U</em> content. We're not sure that constitutes a year's worth of lanky plumberness, so maybe the other Mario brother has some more surprises up his green-clad sleeves in today's Luigi Special direct.<br /><br />One not-so-surprising bit of news is that the Wii U's April system update is coming next week to Japan. Given that there won't be much April left by the end of next week, there are good odds the update is being released worldwide at the same time. Nintendo is billing the update as a big one, with a chunk of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/virtual-console-headed-to-wii-u-launching-after-spring-update/">Virtual Console support</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/27/wii-u-april-update-boosts-returning-to-menu-speed-significantly/">reduced UI loading times</a> both part of the package.<br /><br />We expect more details to be spilled in Japan's Nintendo Direct, which you can watch here on Joystiq when it's broadcast live today at 10AM ET (7AM PT, 3PM UK). We'll also have North America and Europe's 3DS-focused broadcasts at the same time for your perusal.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/17/japans-nintendo-direct-is-a-luigi-special-wii-u-update-next-we/">Japan's Nintendo Direct is a Luigi Special, Wii U update next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Apr 2013 08:15:00 EST. The game has yet to be announced for release worldwide, but it's a Pok&eacute;mon game, so you should expect it.<br /><br />The second series of toys includes Eevee, Mewtwo, Croagunk, Zoroark, Litwick, and Genesect, and one secret unannounced Pok&eacute;mon. The NFC figures add playable characters to the game, much in the style of Skylanders. <br /><br />In the Pok&eacute;mon Rumble/Scramble games, all of the playable Pokemon are actually wind-up toy Pok&eacute;mon - which means these figures are toy versions of toys.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/15/pokemon-scramble-us-second-line-of-nfc-toys-dated/">Pokemon Scramble U's second line of NFC toys dated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Apr 2013 11:45:00 EST. That part is cool and kind of forward-thinking.<br /><br />The part that's less cool: the pack costs $30, on top of the full-price purchase of the game. The massive upcharge brings the US Steam version into price parity with the <a href="http://store.jp.square-enix.com/detail/SE-G0043?sscl=storetop_head_130410_TR2">Japanese retail release</a>, which shares an April 25 release date with the VO pack, and retails for &yen;7,980 ($80). Yes, video games are always too expensive in Japan. And Square Enix is artificially ensuring that's the case for <em>Tomb Raider</em>.<br /><br />It's hard to figure out who this Japanese Language Pack is for, if it comes out the same day as the localized PC release for the same effective price. We suppose it's for people in Japan who want to play <em>Tomb Raider</em> now, but don't mind missing out on all the dialogue for a couple of weeks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/12/japanese-voiceover-pack-coming-to-tomb-raider-pc-for-30/">Japanese voiceover pack coming to Tomb Raider PC ... for $30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Apr 2013 11:00:00 EST. A <a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/game/content/gyakuten/?p=1127">page</a> advertising an upcoming Q&amp;A session originally said the game would be available on that date, before Capcom noticed its mistake and updated, according to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2013/04/11/take-that-ace-attorney-5-coming-out-in-japan-this-july/">Siliconera</a>.<br /><br />Capcom hasn't given a timeframe for a western release, intentionally or unintentionally, but the company is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/05/ace-attorney-5-coming-to-us-and-europe/">planning to localize</a> the 3DS adventure game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/11/report-ace-attorney-5-out-july-25-in-japan/">Report: Ace Attorney 5 out July 25 in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Apr 2013 10:30:00 EST. Granted, that first "week" lasted two days, as Media Create's weekly ranking period ran from March 25-31, and <em>Dragon Quest X</em> was released on the 30th, but that's still low for a Dragon Quest game. The Wii version of the MMO, for comparison, sold <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/dragon-quest-x-sells-more-than-400-000-at-launch/">over 420,000 copies</a> at launch, and <em>Dragon Quest IX</em> sold over 2 million before that.<br /><br />Not only is that low for a Dragon Quest game, it's not exactly the boost the Wii U hardware so desperately needed. The Wii U only sold 22,829 units last week, behind both versions of the ever-popular 3DS (<em>Luigi's Mansion 2</em> was the best selling game, and <em>Animal Crossing: New Leaf</em> is at #3, approaching 3 million copies life-to-date), and behind even the Vita, which is experiencing something of a resurgence.<br /><br />The sales situation for <em>Dragon Quest X</em> is more complicated than it may seem. While the retail sales were disappointing, there's likely a significant number of digital sales, which wouldn't show up on Media Create's charts - and which we'll never know about unless Square Enix or Nintendo decides to tell us. Square Enix offers half-price downloads of the Wii U version to anyone who owns the Wii version, so it's safe to assume at least some of the Wii buyers took advantage of that offer.<br /><br />Of course, that still didn't move many Wii U systems, clearly.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/04/dragon-quest-x-wii-u-has-weak-launch-at-japanese-retail/">Dragon Quest X Wii U has weak launch at Japanese retail</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Apr 2013 16:30:00 EST. It's primarily a 3DS game designed for children, but it'll <em>also</em> be a manga series in Saikyo Jump and V-Jump magazines, an anime produced by Pierrot, music by Avex Entertainment, and "Gaimetal" toys by Bandai.<br /><br />The new game combines Capcom's "expertise in producing content for children," gained through years of Mega Man games, and the "high-grade multiplayer capability that generated a strong response for the Monster Hunter series."<br /><br />Whether this vaguely cynical, corporate-driven approach to creating a hit franchise will work or not remains to be seen, but, uh, the game looks pretty fun. It'll be out in Japan this winter.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/02/capcoms-gaist-crusher-is-a-cross-media-assault-on-japanese-ki/">Capcom's 'Gaist Crusher' is a cross-media assault on Japanese kids' allowances</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Apr 2013 13:30:00 EST. Nintendo is releasing a series of Mario-themed eShop cards, that also work as AR cards with a new Mario photo app made by the <em>Galaxy/Super Mario 3D Land</em> team.<br /><br />Each denomination comes on a card representing one of two characters: &yen;1,000 Goomba or Koopa cards, &yen;2,000 Mario or Luigi, or &yen;3,000 Bowser or Peach. The 3D models generated by the app show up in photos based on where the cards are placed, just like other photos done with AR cards, and can be posed in different positions and with added effects. Like the Kid Icarus AR Cards, two characters will interact with one another when placed together.<br /><br />Nintendo of America has yet to make any announcements, of either the cards or the <em>Photo Together Super Mario</em> app. We recommend waiting - you don't want to buy eShop credit you can't use, just to interact with an app you can't download.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/01/3ds-eshop-cards-become-mario-ar-cards-in-japan/">3DS eShop cards become Mario AR Cards in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Apr 2013 15:00:00 EST. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine reveals <em>New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl</em>, a 3DS reimagining of the original <em>Etrian Odyssey</em>.<br /><br />According to early reports, this game swaps out the light-on-story, character-creation-driven approach of previous Etrians in favor of a story, with defined characters you meet along the way. The Famitsu report says <em>New Etrian Odyssey</em> will be out in Japan on June 27.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/report-japan-embarks-on-new-etrian-odyssey-in-june/">Report: Japan embarks on 'New Etrian Odyssey' in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 14:30:00 EST. Wada, who became the company's president and CEO in December 2000, is to be replaced by former company director and CFO Yosuke Matsuda. According to Square Enix's announcement, the change is "subject to a resolution" at the company's annual shareholders meeting in June, and a board of directors meeting held afterwards.<br /><br />The news coincides with Square Enix announcing further major revisions to its fiscal year forecasts, which the company attributes to its decision to implement major restructuring in the wake of "the rapidly changing environment of the game businesses." Square Enix expects the changes, which it noted as affecting development policy, organizational structure, and business models, to incur a total "extraordinary" loss of &yen;10 billion, or around $106 million.<br /><br />However, Square Enix says the primary reason for the company's lower-than-expected results is the "sluggish" sales performance of its major games in western territories. When Square Enix announced its nine-month fiscal year net loss <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/square-enix-posts-62-million-nine-month-net-loss-net-sales-up/">of just over &yen;5 billion</a>, the company said then it hadn't recovered the losses from earlier in the year because of "the increasingly difficult condition of the worldwide console game market."<br /><br />Today's forecast revisions show a dramatic turnaround for the company's yearly financials. For the fiscal year ending March 31, Square Enix is projecting now a net loss of &yen;13 billion, or around $138 million, compared to initial forecasts of a net profit of &yen;3.5 billion, around $37 million. The previous fiscal year, Square Enix posted a net profit of just over &yen;6 billion.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2013/03/25/square-enix-sells-off-its-free-to-play-titles-sleepy-giant-implements-restructuring/">GamesBeat</a> is reporting Square Enix sold a number of its free-to-play games to privately funded start-up Sleepy Giant, with sources "familiar with the matter" saying four unannounced games were included in the deal. Neither party has announced the deal, with a Square Enix representative telling GamesBeat it doesn't "comment on any details for external development deals." <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-president-wada-to-step-down-106m-restructuring-l/">Square Enix president Wada to step down, $106M 'restructuring' loss [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 07:00:00 EST. Which is why it's here for your viewing enjoyment this morning.<br /><br />Not that you need us to tell you the trailer's for a Vanillaware game. The studio's inimitable, time-intensive style makes its games easily stand out, which is why an art book sounds like a great bonus for a limited number of early adopters in Japan. Publisher Atlus revealed the 64-page hardback includes art by Vanillaware, and tribute work from Kinu Nishimura, Akira Yasuda, and Bengus of Capcom fame.<br /><br />Today's trailer confirms the reported Japanese release date of July 25. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/atlus-picks-up-dragons-crown-publishing-also-assisting-with-de/">Last we heard</a>, Atlus said it's bringing <em>Dragon's Crown</em> to North America sometime this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/21/dragons-crown-reigns-in-new-trailer-bonus-art-book-unveiled/">Dragon's Crown reigns in new trailer, bonus art book unveiled</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Mar 2013 08:00:00 EST. Well, it's not news that should surprise given the previous four main FFs' appearance on smartphones, and especially given <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/21/final-fantasy-iv-ios-trailer-reveals-final-fantasy-v-plan/">this blatant tease</a> late last year, but hey.<br /><br />As <a href="http://app.famitsu.com/20130321_143479/">Famitsu</a> reports, a remake based on the GameBoy Advance version of the 1992 JRPG, with redesigned sprites, comes to iOS by the end of this month, with an Android release around the summertime. It's priced &yen;1,800, which is around $19. There's no word yet regards outside of Japan, but previous entries have had same-day worldwide releases. It's not unlikely we'll see <em>FFV</em> hit the App Store by the end of the month.<br /><br />When approached about a western release, a Square Enix representative told Joystiq, "We don't comment on rumor or speculation."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/20/final-fantasy-v-coming-to-ios-in-japan-this-month/">Final Fantasy V coming to iOS in Japan this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Mar 2013 12:30:00 EST. The sextet comprises Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Torchic, Lucario, Victini, and the oh-so-cute Piplup.<br /><br />As the debut trailer shows, the toys use the Wii U's Near Fields Communication tech to inferface with the game, allowing them, much like in Activision's Skylanders franchise, to appear as in-game characters. <em>Rumble U</em> remains unconfirmed for release outside of Japan, but if the game proves a success - who can see </span>Pok&eacute;mon<span> meets Skylanders being anything but a goldmine? - it would be staggering for it not to make its way west.</span><br /><br /><em>Rumble U</em> is priced &yen;1800 (around $19), and individual figures &yen;200 each (around $2). <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-scramble-u-nfc-figures/">Pokemon Scramble U (NFC Figures)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-scramble-u-nfc-figures/#5737384"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/imgindex01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-scramble-u-nfc-figures/#5737385"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/imgindex03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-scramble-u-nfc-figures/#5737386"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/imgindex04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-scramble-u-nfc-figures/#5737387"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/imgindex06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/15/pokemon-rumble-u-toys-revealed/">Pokémon Rumble U toys revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Mar 2013 13:00:00 EST. Essentially it blocks the console from the eShop, but also prevents affected consoles from updating their firmware. Nintendo is currently working on a fix, the company <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/support/information/2013/0307.html">stated</a>.<br /><br />In the above video, prominent Japanese YouTuber MEGUMIbernadette demonstrates the issue on her Wii U console. As you can see, accessing the eShop is impossible with error code 105-3102. Nintendo is hoping to issue a fix "by the end of this week." As of now, this problem seems to be isolated to Japanese Wii U consoles, but if you've been hit and you're outside of Japan, feel free to <a href="mailto: tips@joystiq.com?subject=Error Code 105-3102">drop us a line</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/07/error-code-105-3102-keeps-wii-us-out-of-eshop-from-updating-fir/">Error code 105-3102 keeps Wii Us out of eShop, from updating firmware in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Mar 2013 18:30:00 EST. It's been released on Super Famicom, PlayStation, DS and PSP in Japan, and nowhere here - though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/02/an-elusive-playstation-classic-is-yours-for-the-grappling/">there are ways</a> to get it. It's the kind of gameplay you know from <em>Bionic Commando</em>, but focused entirely on the grappling.<br /><br />Members of the original team have reunited for a sequel on 3DS, <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/news/201303/07029753.html">Famitsu</a> reports. Called Sayonara Umihara Kawase, the latest release appears to maintain everything that makes the series what it is: insanely complex grappling/line physics, weird fish enemies, and abstract level designs.<br /><br />The new version adds multiple versions of the main character, including a 20-year-old Umihara, and unlockable costume items for completed levels. The 3D character models don't look great, but this game was never much to look at anyway.<br /><br />A new Umihara game is exciting in its own right, but it's also another opportunity for someone to localize it. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/umihara-kawase-becomes-yumis-odd-odyssey/">Natsume tried</a> with the PSP version, but it never happened - and that was probably a wise choice given how that game turned out. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/06/nautical-grappling-platformer-umihara-kawase-returns-on-3ds/">Nautical grappling platformer Umihara Kawase returns on 3DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Mar 2013 21:00:00 EST. Following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/18/sony-agrees-to-sell-us-headquarters-for-1-1-billion/">last month's sale</a> of its US headquarters for $1.1 billion, Sony entered the Osaki building and its premises into a trust, then sold the trust's beneficiary rights to Nippon Building Fund inc. and an unnamed "Japanese institutional investor" in a 60/40 split.<br /><br />Sony stated the sale was part of the company's reorganization of assets to "strengthen its corporate structure." Then again, the &yen;41 billion (around $4.4 billion) raised in operating income by the sale and how it'll help Sony turn an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/sony-expects-operating-profit-this-year/">operating profit this fiscal year</a> helps too. The company wants to bring an end to four successive years of losses, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/sonys-fiscal-2012-results-820-million-loss-due-to-floods-ear/">last fiscal year's loss of around $820 million</a>, not to mention the humiliation of Fitch Ratings cutting the company's credit rating to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/22/sony-credit-rating-downgraded-to-junk-by-fitch/">junk status</a>.<br /><br />While the sale represents another major shift for the company in a year of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/sony-expects-biggest-loss-ever-10k-laid-off-games-a-pillar-for/">nothing</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/19/sony-is-cutting-2000-jobs-in-japan-via-early-retirement-scheme/">but</a>, Sony and other Sony Group businesses are to remain in the City Osaki building for five further years under a separate lease agreement.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/28/sony-sells-tokyo-office-building-for-1-2billion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony sells Tokyo office building for $1.2 billion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/28/sony-sells-tokyo-office-building-for-1-2billion/">Sony sells Tokyo office building for $1.2 billion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Feb 2013 10:15:00 EST. The brightly colored handhelds come with 4GB SD cards rather than the typical 2GB, and will be released on March 20 for &yen;15,000 (around $163). There's no word as yet on the models heading westwards.<br /><br />The new color choices do seem a bit gendered, but, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QI_(G_series)#Episode_7_.22Girls_and_Boys.22">as British quiz show <em>QI</em> revealed</a>, up until the 20th century pink was the traditional color for boys, and blue for girls. So if they do come here and you're a boy who fancies the Gloss Pink model or a girl the Light blue, just remember that in the 19th century you'd have been in concurring company - but since the consoles are only confirmed for Japan, this is all hypothetical babble anyway. Oh well.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>3DS Light Blue, Gloss Pink models announced for Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/">3DS Light Blue, Gloss Pink models announced for Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Feb 2013 08:00:00 EST. And, like Capcom tends to do for Mega Man projects, it's polling fans to find the best design. As this inscrutable practice takes off, we feel the need to document it.<br /><br />A <a href="http://rockman-ultrabook.com/">poll</a> is up for the Ultrabook, with users allowed to vote once per day to select whether a generic "Rockman" design, tiled Dr. Wily and Robot Masters (the correct choice), overwrought NES box art-style Mega Man, or a pile of various Rolls will emblazon the laptop.<br /><br />So if you want to spend a few minutes voting on the look of a computer you very likely won't be able to buy, and probably shouldn't - sweet Mega Man art is not the recommended metric for choosing a computer - you're free to do so.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/26/mega-man-gets-equipped-with-japanese-laptop/">Mega Man gets equipped with Japanese laptop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2013 16:30:00 EST. Posting on the Zelda Miiverse page, Anouma writes, "<em>The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons</em>/<em>Oracle of Ages</em> will be released for Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS in Japan, but it'll be a little while longer till the're out in other territories. We''d like to ask for your patience until they're ready for release. Thank you!" <br /><br />So it was foretold: <em>The Legend of Zelda:</em> <em>Oracle of Ages</em> and <em>Oracle of Seasons </em>will come to the 3DS eShop in Japan. The Capcom-developed Game Boy Color games, hits with fans and critics alike in 2001, arrive individually on the Virtual Console February 27, priced &yen;600 each (around $6.50), and then in a combined pack next month at &yen;1000 (around $10.50)<br /><br />As the reveal came in this morning's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/watch-japans-nintendo-direct-for-third-party-3ds-games-right-he/">3DS-focused Direct broadcast for Japan</a>, there's no news as yet on the re-releases heading westwards.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/zelda-oracle-of-ages-oracle-of-seasons-to-hit-3ds-eshop-in-jap/">Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons to hit 3DS eShop in Japan [update: Western release confirmed!]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Feb 2013 07:00:00 EST. That's <em>sooo</em> yesterday, friend. This is today, and today sees Nintendo pump out another one of its Direct broadcasts, this one intended for screens in Japan - of course, that doesn't mean we can't tune in. Following on from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/14/watch-the-valentines-day-nintendo-direct-right-here/">last week's 3DS-o-rama</a>, this Direct is focused on third-party games for the handheld.<br /><br />The livestream kicks into gear at 6AM ET (3AM PT, 11AM Brit-time), and you can watch it here on Joystiq. And, as always, we'll keep you informed of all of the major goings-on.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> It's all over, and from a Western standpoint it was fairly quiet, although there were further looks at <em>Monster Hunter 4</em> and <em>Shin Megami Tensei 4</em> to enjoy. One thing that caught our eye was the Game Boy Color Zelda games, <em>Oracle of Seasons</em> and <em>Oracle of Ages</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/zelda-oracle-of-ages-oracle-of-seasons-to-hit-3ds-eshop-in-jap/">coming to Japan's 3DS Virtual Console</a> - here's hoping they make their way here too.<br /><br />In case you missed it, the replay is above your viewerizing pleasure.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/watch-japans-nintendo-direct-for-third-party-3ds-games-right-he/">Watch Japan's Nintendo Direct for third-party 3DS games right here [update: it's sooo over]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Feb 2013 05:30:00 EST. Along with the announcement, Namco sent out the dynamic, exciting, and surprisingly <em>long</em> trailer above.<br /><br />There's no news on a release date for North America, as the game has not yet been announced for release outside of Japan. A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/15/namco-trademark-points-to-us-release-for-jojos-bizarre-adventur/">trademark</a> found in September for "All Star Battle" suggests that Namco may be planning a localization, however.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/18/jojos-bizarre-adventure-all-star-battle-breaks-out-in-japan-au/">Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle breaks out in Japan August 29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Feb 2013 15:00:00 EST.
