The $40 product will include over 30 tracks from <em>Just Dance</em> and <em>Just Dance 2</em>, with three tracks from <em>Just Dance 3</em>.<br /><br /><em>Just Dance</em> 1 and 2 never launched on Xbox 360, so that makes sense, but for Wii owners it's just selections of two games from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/ubisoft-shipped-13-million-just-dance-games-in-2011-nearly-7-mi/">multi-million selling franchise</a> in a single package. Some Ubisoft games won't be playable <em>at all</em>, but that list is rather short and will only affect Mac and PC gamers.<br /><br />Ubisoft's most recent triple-A titles will thankfully be unaffected: <em>Anno 2070</em>, <em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em>, <em>Driver: San Francisco</em>, and <em>Just Dance 3</em> will all remain playable (both online and offline) during the transition. The OSX version of the original <em>Assassin's Creed</em>, however, will be completely unplayable, as will the OSX version of <em>Splinter Cell: Conviction</em> and the PC versions of <em>Might and Magic: Heroes VI</em> and <em>Tom Clancy's HAWX 2</em>.<br /><br />The online portions of all other Ubisoft games will be disabled during the transition, although offline modes should still function normally. Ubisoft has yet to provide an estimated completion date for the move, recommending instead that people follow its <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ubisoft">official Twitter account</a> for updates.<br /><div style="text-align: right; "> <br /> <small>[<a href="http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-595654p1.html">REDMIRAGE</a> via Shutterstock]</small></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/03/psa-ubisoft-server-migration-means-temporary-offline-time-for-s/">PSA: Ubisoft server migration means temporary offline time for some games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Feb 2012 01:45:00 EST. Snap's "The Power" will be available for the Xbox version of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> tomorrow, Jan. 31, along with Bollywood's "Katti Kalandal", Love Letter's "Why Oh Why" and Sweat Invaders' "Skin to Skin," all of which we're sure are totally energetic. Each track sells for 240 MSP ($3) each.<br /><br />They'll be released for the Wii version the next day, Feb. 1, at a comparatively cheap 250 Wii Points ($2.50).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/just-dance-3-dlc-1-30/">Just Dance 3 (DLC 1/30)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/just-dance-3-dlc-1-30/#4784959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/justdance13001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/just-dance-3-dlc-1-30/#4784960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/justdance13002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/just-dance-3-dlc-1-30/#4784961"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/justdance13003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/just-dance-3-dlc-1-30/#4784962"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/justdance13004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/30/just-dance-3-dlc-gets-the-power/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Just Dance 3 DLC gets the power</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/30/just-dance-3-dlc-gets-the-power/">Just Dance 3 DLC gets the power</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jan 2012 19:30:00 EST. <em>FIFA 12</em> remains at the top of the UK chart for a fourth straight week, despite a 54 percent drop in sales. Nearly all the games on this week's top ten saw double-digit percentage drops in sales, as consumers adjust to the post-holiday rhythm. For example, <em>Just Dance 3</em> had a 21 percent reduction, but moved <em>up</em> two spots into second. <em>Skyrim</em> had similar falling upwards, as it moved up two spots into third, with a 23 percent sales drop. It's currently a race of stamina on the charts.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
	And very few top ten contenders have stamina quite like <em>Zumba Fitness</em>. The continued desire to work off Christmas pounds kept the original game in sixth place, as <em>Zumba Fitness 2</em> moved into seventh.<br />
	<br />
	Other fitness games are also doing well, as <em>Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012</em> for Kinect is up 173 percent, and so is <em>Wii Fit Plus</em>, holding spots at 12 and 27, respectively. Do some step exercises and walk on past the break for the UK top ten.</div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/16/fifa-spends-fourth-week-atop-uk-charts-exercise-games-perform-w/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>FIFA spends fourth week atop UK charts, exercise games perform well</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/16/fifa-spends-fourth-week-atop-uk-charts-exercise-games-perform-w/">FIFA spends fourth week atop UK charts, exercise games perform well</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. Ubisoft announced this morning that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> has surpassed seven million sales, with the Just Dance franchise cha-cha-chinging at cash registers over 25 million times worldwide. <em>Just Dance 3</em>, which launched in October, has been working it on the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/npd">US</a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/chart-track-weekly">UK</a> sales charts -- even offering private dance lessons at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/22/obama-goes-with-just-dance-3-over-dance-central-shames-a-nation/">The White House</a>.<br />
<br />
US retail tracking group NPD previously stated dance game sales were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/npd-sales-of-dancing-games-up-326-over-last-year/">up 326 percent</a> in 2011 over the prior year. During Black Friday week, the Just Dance franchise <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">sold over a million units</a>, with Ubisoft stating it held 76 percent market share on dance games.<br />
<br />
Just as a reminder, the Just Dance franchise includes: <em>Just Dance 3, Just Dance 2, Just Dance, Just Dance Summer Party, Just Dance Kids 2, Just Dance Kids, Michael Jackson: The Experience, The Black Eyed Peas Experience </em>and<em> ABBA You Can Dance</em>.<br />
<br />
Don't be surprised if <em>Just Dance 4</em> hits the scene in 2012, along with (at least) two other spin-offs.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/13/just-dance-3-shimmies-into-7-million-households-25-million-fran/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Just Dance 3 shimmies into 7 million households, 25 million franchise sales</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/13/just-dance-3-shimmies-into-7-million-households-25-million-fran/">Just Dance 3 shimmies into 7 million households, 25 million franchise sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jan 2012 08:00:00 EST. 	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/npd-2011-sales/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/mw3random530.jpg" /></a></div>
Assassination and dancing has proven to be a lucrative mix, as <em>Just Dance 2</em> and <em>3 </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-revelations"><em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em></a> helped Ubisoft to lead this year's best seller's list with three entries. That's according to the NPD Group, which also estimates the video game industry's profits, comprising "new physical video and PC games, used games, game rentals, subscriptions, digital full-game downloads, social network games, downloadable content, and mobile games," reached sales of somewhere between $16.3 and $16.6 billion in 2011.<br />
<br />
Activision's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em></a> took top honors (it's kind of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/activision-trumpets-1-billion-for-modern-warfare-3/">big deal</a>), while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skyrim"><em>Skyrim</em></a> occupied the second and third spots, respectively. NPD also says that, despite sales growth in the digital sector yet again, physical copies offered at retail outlets still accounted for the majority of sales coming in at $9.3 billion, "an 8 percent decline over the $10.1 billion in 2010."<br />
<br />
That decline was "partially" offset by increases in digital, mobile, and used game sales, which NPD expects to be a focus moving into 2012. "Our overall estimate of the market continues to point toward the increased imperative for deeper visibility into digital distribution than is available today, not only in the U.S. but globally," said NPD prez David McQuillan. Our waning shelf space agrees.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/npd-2011-sales-across-industry-between-16-3-and-16-6-billion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NPD 2011: Sales across industry between $16.3 and $16.6 billion, Ubi tops software sales list</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/npd-2011-sales-across-industry-between-16-3-and-16-6-billion/">NPD 2011: Sales across industry between $16.3 and $16.6 billion, Ubi tops software sales list</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jan 2012 19:00:00 EST. The industry as a whole still managed to bang out $3.99 billion in combined new sales of hardware, physical software and accessories between November 27 and December 31, 2011. This is, however, a 21 percent drop year-over-year, as the industry pulled down a combined $5.07 billion during the same period in 2010.<br />
<br />
"Overall industry results are not entirely surprising given that we are on the back end of the current console lifecycle, combined with the continued digital evolution of gaming," said Anita Frazier, an analyst with The NPD Group. "Core gamers continue to be engaged and spend on established franchises across both the digital and physical format using multiple devices for different gaming occasions."<br />
<br />
A smooth $2.04 billion of that $3.99 billion total was caused entirely by new physical software sales, a dash for the cash that continues to be lead by <em>Modern Warfare 3</em>. The pseudo-medieval allure of November's second place podium finisher, <em>Skyrim, </em>was not enough to keep its throne for a second term; the Dovahkiin has been usurped by Ubisoft's compulsory neon-dancing simulator, <em>Just Dance 3</em>.<br />
<br />
Comparatively,<em> Skyrim</em> got off easy: <em>Uncharted 3</em>, <em>Saints Row: The Third</em> and <em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword</em>, are all absent from December's Top-10 list, just weeks after their respective releases. <em>Skyward Sword</em> wasn't Nintendo's only horse in this race, however, as <em>Mario Kart 7</em> and <em>Super Mario 3D Land</em> closed out December in fourth and ninth place, respectively. Overall, Nintendo, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts claimed more Top-10 real estate than their competitors, each publishing two of the month's best selling titles.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/december-npd-mw3-just-dance-3-and-skyrim-lead-an-overall-down/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>December NPD: MW3, Just Dance 3 and Skyrim lead an overall down month</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/december-npd-mw3-just-dance-3-and-skyrim-lead-an-overall-down/">December NPD: MW3, Just Dance 3 and Skyrim lead an overall down month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jan 2012 18:31:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">
	The first week of 2012 sees massive double-digit percentage drops across Chart-Track's UK sales top ten. <em>FIFA 12</em> remains at the top, with a 63 percent drop, as <em>Battlefield 3</em> takes second, despite it being hit with the exact same decrease in sales. <em>Modern Warfare 3</em> moves into third and <em>Just Dance 3 </em>maintains fourth, with sales slipping 76 and 67 percent, respectively.<br />
	<br />
	With such huge post-holiday sales drops, a stalwart returns to the top ten in fifth: <em>Zumba Fitness</em>. The desire to work off those Christmas pounds sent the exercise game up 11 percent, returning it to the top ten from its exile in 19th place. Several other fitness titles also moved up the charts, despite seeing sales declines, as the chart finds its after the holidays equilibrium. Run past the break for the UK top ten -- we could all use it to work off that fruitcake, phew.</div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/fifa-12-kicks-off-year-atop-uk-charts-zumba-returns/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>FIFA 12 kicks off year atop UK charts, Zumba returns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/fifa-12-kicks-off-year-atop-uk-charts-zumba-returns/">FIFA 12 kicks off year atop UK charts, Zumba returns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 14:30:00 EST. Chart-Track's UK sales chart for the week ending December 31, 2011, is up, showing the family-friendly footie time (don't go to a dark place, <em>don't go to a dark place!</em>) of <em>FIFA</em> closing out the year as champion. Nearly every game in the top eight held its position from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/02/old-republic-debuts-in-10th-fifa-runs-up-uk-charts-before-chris/">Christmas Eve list</a>, except for <em>Battlefield 3</em>, which twirled <em>Just Dance 3</em> around to take its spot in third.<br />
		<br />
		<a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1245&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a> notes this is the second year in a row that the <em>FIFA</em> franchise has held the top spot during the final week. It's also the fourth time <em>FIFA 12</em> has scored a first place finish, tying with <em>FIFA 10</em> and <em>FIFA 11</em>'s glory days.<br />
		<br />
		<em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em> takes one of the largest dips we've seen on the charts, going from tenth place during launch week to 38. This would certainly be a time to call in the Ewoks for reinforcements, if it weren't for <em>Old Republic</em> being a PC game. It's reasonable to guess many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/23/star-wars-the-old-republic-hits-a-million-players-28-million-h/">sales are occurring</a> through EA's Origin digital distribution network.</div>

We don't mean these games will make you start taking hikes or playing bocce ball in the park or something. These are games <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Outlet/b/ref=amb_link_359419182_2?ie=UTF8&amp;node=409566&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=left-1&amp;pf_rd_r=0DE1FWTQHY0254FNPTWJ&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=1341235362&amp;pf_rd_i=468642">Amazon</a> has classified as active -- they require more input from the player than simply mashing a button or d-pad. Sometimes you have to, like, stand up to play these games.<br />
<br />
Amazon's discounting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a>, the <em>LittleBigPlanet 2 </em>Move bundle, <em>Zumba Fitness </em>... and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rocksmith"><em>Rocksmith</em></a>? Rocking out counts as activity, we guess. There are also discounts on Kinect and the Wii Cyberbike. Oh, and PS3 accessories have been incongruously mixed into the list. You can pick up some 3D glasses, in case Santa dropped one of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/sonys-3d-display-available-on-nov-13/">those 3D displays</a> down your chimney this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/02/amazon-discounts-select-ps3-peripherals-active-games/">Amazon discounts select PS3 peripherals, active games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 18:00:00 EST. Chart-Track's UK sales list for the week leading up to Christmas Eve had <em>FIFA 12</em> rallying, with sales up 34 percent, to score a first place finish. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em></a> moved up one spot replacing <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a>, which despite having a seven percent increase in sales, simply couldn't maintain its position and oscar mike'd into third.<br />
		<br />
		The big premiere of the week was EA's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/star-wars-the-old-republic"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>, which debuted in tenth place, having launched on Tuesday the 20th. This is irregular for the UK, since most games launch on Friday. Despite the extra time, the high-profile MMO's launch week didn't beat out <em>Mario &amp; Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. </em>The saving grace of <em>The Old Republic</em>'s lower ranking premiere is Chart-Track doesn't count digitally distributed copies. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/23/star-wars-the-old-republic-hits-a-million-players-28-million-h/">According to EA</a>, things are going well with its new MMO.<br />

Socialist US President Barack Obama was caught purchasing French-developed <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3">Just Dance 3</a></em> for the Japanese-designed Nintendo Wii console this past week. Thankfully, the desperate last-minute shopping trip to a local Best Buy for his daughters, Malia and Sasha, kept him away from putting more Americans out of work.<br />
<br />
"In case you all are wondering, <em>Just Dance</em> for the Wii," Obama said, having a member of the proletariat hold up the game. "The girls beat me every time on these various dance games. And you'll never get a picture of me [playing] because I get graded F every time."<br />
<br />
Clearly an agent of foreign leaders, Mr. Obama could have chosen the Boston-developed <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dance-central-2">Dance Central 2</a></em> for the Seattle-designed Xbox 360. <em>But no</em>. Shame on you, sir. Shame on you! As if we needed our political leaders supporting <em>Just Dance</em>'s continued <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">foreign profits</a>.<br />

				<em>Skyrim</em> rested high atop the UK charts last week, breaking an eight year stint by EA and Activision. Bethesda's massive RPG occupied the top spot during week 51 -- dubbed the "Christmas Chart" by <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1237&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a>. Take-Two's <em>Grand Theft Auto: Vice City</em> owned the chart in 2002, prior to EA's <em>Medal of Honor: Rising Sun</em> and Activision's Call of Duty franchise.<br />
				<br />
				<em>Just Dance 3</em> came in about 15,000 units behind <em>Skyrim. </em>Followers of the charts can probably <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/just-dance-2-passes-a-million-sales-in-uk/">predict what's coming</a> in the new year, as the <em>Just Dance</em> series has been a sleeping giant that rises once the holidays are over for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/25/just-dance-just-keeps-groovin-atop-uk-charts/">past two years</a>.<br />
				<br />
				The rest of the top ten (after the break) consists of the usual suspects. When the UK charts return in the new year we'll find out how <em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em> did during its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/24/star-wars-the-old-republic-launching-dec-20-starts-at-15-per/">Christmas week launch</a>.</div>

Ubiquitous disc kiosk dispensary <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Redbox/">Redbox</a> has shared its top game rentals of 2011, with <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em> for Xbox 360 commanding the top spot. It's no surprise that <em>Modern Warfare 3</em>, which earned <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/activision-modern-warfare-3-sales-reach-775-million-in-five-da/">$775 million at retail in a week</a>, would also find itself again in fifth place with the PS3 version. It was, <em>like</em>, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/11/modern-warfare-3-sells-6-5m-in-biggest-day-one-ever/">biggest game launch ever</a>.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft has two members of its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">successful <em>Just Dance</em> franchise</a> on the Redbox list, with <em>Just Dance 3</em> and <em>Smurfs Dance Party</em> in fifth and seventh spots, respectively.<br />

Surprise summer hit <em>Dead Island</em> rounds out the top three. The game's rocky launch may have scared off some purchases, but that didn't stop Deep Silver (<a href="http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/05/why-deep-silver-needed-square-enix-to-distribute-dead-island.ars">and Square Enix</a>) from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/dead-island-ships-1-million-to-na-retail-in-first-week-2-millio/">shipping millions of copies</a> of the game.<br />

This was Redbox's first "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/28/redbox-officially-launching-game-rentals-june-17/">official</a>" year of game rentals, expanding its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/12/redbox-expanding-game-rentals-to-thousands-of-its-kiosks/">test market of 5,000</a> last year to nearly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/28/redbox-stuffing-more-kiosks-with-games/">27,000 kiosks nationwide</a> over the summer. The Japanese version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> shipped with the above track featuring Nintendo's mascot and now it's coming to the UK as DLC. Players will be able to download the track for 250 Wii Points tomorrow through the in-game store.<br />
<br />
There's currently no word on when the track will be available in the US version of <em>Just Dance 3</em>, but Ubisoft has at least confirmed to Joystiq that it's coming.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/mario-busts-a-move-in-just-dance-3-in-the-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mario busts a move in Just Dance 3 in the UK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/mario-busts-a-move-in-just-dance-3-in-the-uk/">Mario busts a move in Just Dance 3 in the UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Dec 2011 17:30:00 EST. It took some time for the Dovahkiin to level up, but <em>Skyrim</em> has slain a fearsome beast and taken the top spot of <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1232&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track's UK sales chart</a>. Five weeks after its debut, <em>Skyrim</em> has grabbed first place from <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em>, thanks to the game's continued buzz and an average price reduction of &pound;13 last week.<br />
				<br />
				But an evil still lingers, growing in strength. <em>Just Dance 3</em>, the latest lieutenant in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">army of dance darkness</a>, has entered third place. The launch of the PS3 version of <em>Just Dance 3</em> helped the game on the all formats chart, but the Wii edition still makes up 89 percent of sales.<br />

	<em><small>Oh, it's the dancing neon people. Which one is this again?</small></em></div>
<br />
Ubisoft's lawyers have learned -- and a judge has confirmed -- that you just can't stop the beat. "Get Up and Dance," a rhythm game and euphoric command from OG International, can sway American customers unimpeded after a Californian court hip-bumped Ubisoft's request for a temporary restraining order. It's published in North America on PS3 and Wii by O-Games.<br />
<br />
Legal action sprang from Ubisoft's belief that OG's dance game uses on-screen avatars that are a mite too similar to the ones in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/just-dance">Just Dance</a> </em>(pictured), the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">wildly popular</a> franchise that we only write about because of how wildly popular it is. According to <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/og-wins-court-battle">MCV</a>, the court was not satisfied with demonstrations that the games are "substantially" similar.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft is said to be appealing the decision in the hopes of telling OG to <em>Sit Down and Cease Your Gyration</em>.<br />
<br />
[Update: Crave Entertianment was erroneously listed as the publisher of <em>Get Up and Dance</em>. Holy fu-nky chicken, Ubisoft announced this morning that <em>Just Dance 3</em> sold 700,000 copies on the Wii and Xbox 360 over six days, between November 20 and 26 of the Black Friday shopathon. The company also stated that <em>Just Dance 3</em> sales are up 48 percent from those of <em>Just Dance 2</em>, which launched in mid-October of 2010, when compared "year over year to date in the US."<br />
<br />
Ubisoft also claimed it has 76 percent market share among dance games in 2011. That statistic could be a little messy, since unlike <em>Zumba Fitness</em> and <em>Dance Central</em>, which has one sequel, the <em>Just Dance</em> franchise follows Activision's <em>Guitar Hero</em> model of suffocating saturation.<br />
<br />
The <em>Just Dance</em> franchise currently includes: <em>Just Dance 3, Just Dance 2, Just Dance, Just Dance Summer Party, Just Dance Kids 2, Just Dance Kids, Michael Jackson: The Experience, The Black Eyed Peas Experience </em>and<em> ABBA You Can Dance</em>. All these titles combined sold over one million copies in the US during Black Friday week. The NPD previously stated that dance game sales are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/npd-sales-of-dancing-games-up-326-over-last-year/">up 326 percent</a> over last year.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Just Dance franchise sold a million units during Black Friday week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/just-dance-franchise-sold-a-million-units-during-black-friday-we/">Just Dance franchise sold a million units during Black Friday week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Dec 2011 10:35:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/npd-sales-of-dancing-games-up-326-over-last-year/"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/jd31129.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></center>
In the US, dancing game sales are up 326% percent year over year, the NPD told the LA Times. That's for the 12-month period ending October 31. Compare that with overall game sales, which rose 3%.<br />
<br />
Of course, at the end of October last year, <em>Just Dance 2</em> had only <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/17/october-npd-nba-2k11-tops-charts-xbox-360-best-selling-consol/">started selling</a>. Since then, it's been doing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/11/just-dance-2-just-broke-5-million-copies-sold-in-the-us/">very well</a> for itself, and has been followed by several spinoffs, including <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-kids"><em>Just Dance Kids</em></a> (and its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/just-dance-kids-2-shakes-it-all-about-this-october/">sequel</a>!), <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/michael-jackson-the-experience"><em>Michael Jackson: The Experience</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/26/finally-ubisoft-announces-the-black-eyed-peas-experience-for-ki/"><em>The Black Eyed Peas Experience</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/just-dance-2-throwing-a-summer-party-on-july-21/"><em>Just Dance 2 Summer Party</em></a>, and, of course, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Too damn many <em>Just Dance</em> games can't claim all the credit for the growth in dancing-machine sales. <em>Dance Central</em> is at somewhere <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/dance-central-sales-step-up-to-2-5m-kinect-sports-kickin-it-wi/">over 2.5 million units</a>, and it's been followed by a <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dance-central-2">sequel</a>; <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/zumba-fitness"><em>Zumba Fitness</em></a> has been a phenomenon, and Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/11/sony-launching-new-move-bundle-ps3-with-everybody-dance/"><em>Everybody Dance</em></a> is also available.<br />

<em>Battlefield 3</em>, despite experiencing a 54 percent drop in sales, maintained the top spot on Chart-Track's UK All Formats chart for another week. PS3 exclusive <em>Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception</em> debuted in second, with sales that were up 37 percent from the previous sequel, <em>Among Thieves</em>. The rest of the top ten features the usual suspects playing musical chairs, except for <em>Just Dance 3</em>, which refuses to give up its fifth-place chair.<br />
<br />
Other premieres last week included <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-generations">Sonic Generations</a></em> and <em>Goldeneye: Reloaded</em>, entering at the tenth and 16th spots, respectively. The strong debut of the spikey blue mammal on meth means one should expect another 4+ Sonic games from Sega in 2012 (not that it wasn't going to happen anyway).<br />
<br />
This week will see the launch of <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em>. Expect the top title next week to sell more than that top 10 combined times two. Speaking of top ten, check last week's after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/07/battlefield-3-holds-the-line-uncharted-3-debuts-in-second-on-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlefield 3 holds the line, Uncharted 3 debuts in second on UK charts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/07/battlefield-3-holds-the-line-uncharted-3-debuts-in-second-on-uk/">Battlefield 3 holds the line, Uncharted 3 debuts in second on UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Nov 2011 09:44:00 EST. As expected, Electronic Arts and DICE's<em> Battlefield 3</em> got the drop on its competitors and came out victorious atop the UK Charts, becoming the tenth biggest (by units) UK All Formats week one seller ever. <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1207&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a> notes that the game did double the sales of EA's <em>Medal of Honor</em> last year (which DICE also had a hand in), but here's the crazy stat: <em><a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1207&amp;s=1111">Battlefield 3</a></em>'s first week sales were greater than those of the last 17 <em>Battlefield</em> (retail) game debuts combined since 2002.<br />
<br />
The rest of the top five is a case of making room for <em>Battlefield 3</em>, with <em>Batman: Arkham City </em>justifiably moving down one spot, then <em>FIFA 12</em> doing the same, and so on. Well, except for <em>Just Dance 3</em>, which maintains its spot in fifth, because it's protected by dark dance magic, provided by the power of the babe.<br />
<br />
Premieres this week include Namco Bandai's <em>Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi</em> at 23, also <em>Kinect Sports: Season Two</em> at 18. The original <em>Kinect Sports</em> was "by far the best-selling Kinect game in the UK," according to Chart-Track. <em>Dance Central 2</em> does a little better in its second week, electric sliding from 40 to 34. Check out the UK top ten after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/battlefield-3-secures-top-of-uk-charts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlefield 3 secures top of UK charts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/battlefield-3-secures-top-of-uk-charts/">Battlefield 3 secures top of UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Oct 2011 21:32:00 EST. <em>Batman: Arkham City</em> knocked out the competition last week on the UK charts. <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1203&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a> notes the caped crusader's time in ol' Gotham town is the fourth largest launch of the year, behind <em>FIFA 12</em>, <em>Gears of War 3</em> and <em>L.A Noire</em>.<br />
<br />
<em>Football Manager 2012</em> debuted in third, only 1,800 unit sales behind <em>FIFA 12,</em> which holds on to second place despite a 35 percent drop in sales. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/17/forza-4-finishes-first-on-uk-charts-just-dance-3-takes-third/">Last week</a>'s checkered flag winner, <em>Forza Motorsport 4</em>, slipped into fourth, with <em>Just Dance 3</em> feelin' the groove in fifth.<br />
<br />
Two other premieres in the top 40 last week were <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank: All 4 One</em> and <em>Dance Central 2</em>, in spots 24 and 40, respectively. It's an odd start for the sequel to Harmonix's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/14/dance-central-and-kinect-sports-sell-1-million-each-in-us/">hit dance game</a>, so we'll see where it lands next week. It'sa <em>Forza</em>, woo-hoo! Yes, the land of <em>Top Gear</em> saw <em>Forza Motorsport 4</em> race to the top of the charts in its debut week. According to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1197&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a>, the racing game claimed the "biggest launch week ever" for an "Xbox 360 racing game" ... considering most high-profile racers are multi-platform (with the exception of <em>Gran Turismo</em>) we take this to mean the latest sequel maneuvered past <em>Forza 3'</em>s premiere<em>.</em><br />
<br />
With <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">seven new entries in the UK Top 20</a> this week, there are plenty of places to look, but let's start with <em>Just Dance 3</em> premiering in third. Ubisoft's dance series has consistently entered the top 10 and hung out there for months while others come and go. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/14/dance-central-2-review/#review"><em>Dance Central 2</em> ready to step it up</a> this year, it'll be interesting to see if <em>Just Dance 3</em> has the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/11/just-dance-2-just-broke-5-million-copies-sold-in-the-us/">staying power</a> of its predecessors.<br />
<br />
The other two newbies in the top ten are sports titles <em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2012</em> and <em>Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge</em> at fifth and tenth place, respectively. Rush past the break for the full UK top ten.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/17/forza-4-finishes-first-on-uk-charts-just-dance-3-takes-third/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Forza 4 finishes first on UK charts, Just Dance 3 takes third</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/17/forza-4-finishes-first-on-uk-charts-just-dance-3-takes-third/">Forza 4 finishes first on UK charts, Just Dance 3 takes third</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Oct 2011 09:31:00 EST. Ubisoft's <em>Just Dance 3</em> promotional app for iOS (and, later, Android) isn't exactly the same as <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> -- but it does encourage you to <em>do the thing in the title of the game</em>. In fact, rather than a graded dance simulator, the app is sort of a <em>VidRhythm</em> thing, speeding up and recutting your video footage into an automatically generated music video to one of three songs from the game.<br />
<br />
You can see some examples, uploaded from the app, at the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/jd3autodance">Autodance YouTube page</a>. Snicker all you want at this footage we captured of Penny Arcade godfather Jerry Holkins playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> on stage at PAX, the fact of the matter is this: The guy's got moves. Also, is that Quail Man at his side? Trick question, we were there: It's <em>totally</em> Quail Man.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/28/seen-pax-jerry-holkins-just-dances/">Seen@PAX: Jerry Holkins just dances</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 28 Aug 2011 02:00:00 EST. Ubisoft released an updated track list for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a>, and ... guys, it's the weirdest thing. Every time we read about <em>Just Dance</em> (and its insane popularity) we feel like we've jumped into an alternate universe, and this one seems even more alternate than usual.<br />
<br />
You and your friends will be able to dance to Kiss's post-makeup hit "I Was Made for Lovin' You," and the "Just Dance Classical Orchestra's" performance of Brahms' <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X9LvC9WkkQ">Hungarian Dance No. 5</a>. Not random enough? How about "What's This" from <em>The Nightmare Before Christmas</em>? Disney must not be doing any music games for a while, to license out one of its songs to a competitor.<br />
<br />
Stylistically, the track list is all over the place; functionally, it's right past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/19/whats-this-its-just-dance-3s-latest-track-list/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What's this? Sure, said assassins, rabbids, and future soldiers will arrive in video game form, but there's at least an air of danger in Ubisoft's Gamescom lineup. The French publisher revealed its German cavalry this week, saying that all titles will be available either in hands-on versions or hands-off presentations.<br />
<br />
<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/from-dust">From Dust</a> </em>(released on consoles thus far), <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/far-cry-3"><em>Far Cry 3</em></a>, <em>Might &amp; Magic Heroes VI</em>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a> will be on site. Ubi will also hold a roundtable discussion titled, "Is Online Gaming Changing How We Create?" and featuring "creative leaders from Ubisoft's online teams. It'll be open to press, Ubisoft partners and the show's trade visitors.<br />
<br />
It's not necessarily bad news for you, Joe Public. While we're busy watching the roundtable, you could be jamming on some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/anno-2070"><em>Anno 2070</em></a>!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/04/ubisoft-bringing-assassins-rabbids-and-future-soldiers-to-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ubisoft bringing Assassins, Rabbids, and Future Soldiers to Gamescom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/04/ubisoft-bringing-assassins-rabbids-and-future-soldiers-to-game/">Ubisoft bringing Assassins, Rabbids, and Future Soldiers to Gamescom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Aug 2011 10:30:00 EST. This <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a> trailer supposedly shows off the "Just Create" mode, which allows players to record custom choreography and challenge offline and online players to match it -- but, in practice, it just turns into more footage of people dancing like idiots.<br />
<br />
The rest of the trailer is, essentially, the same thing, but still manages to be more impressive: it shows the four-player mode, which puts four dancers on the screen (and in front of the camera) at the same time. Is <em>Just Dance</em> really this groundbreaking? We would not have guessed that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/see-just-dance-3s-just-create-and-four-player-mode/">See Just Dance 3's 'Just Create' and four-player mode</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 16:30:00 EST. Ubisoft has announced its totally non-comic-related (but perhaps comic<em>al</em>) contributions to the July 21-24 <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/index.php">Comic-Con</a> event, including opportunities to play its new games. Booth 4245 in the Exhibit Hall will host playable demos of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/raving-rabbids-alive-and-kicking-for-kinect-on-november-8/">Rabbids: Alive &amp; Kicking</a></em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-dance-3"><em>Just Dance 3</em></a>, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a>. On July 23, Ubisoft will hold an "Assassin's Creed: The Creation of a Universe" panel, featuring a preview of the <em>Assassin's Creed Embers</em> animated short.<br />
<br />
Outside of the Comic-Con venue itself, Ubisoft and "The Nerd Machine" are setting up a "Nerd HQ" in downtown San Francisco, where players will find demos of <em>Rayman Origins</em>. Yes, "Nerd HQ" is somehow not inside Comic-Con.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/13/play-new-rabbids-rayman-and-just-dance-games-at-comic-con/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Play new Rabbids, Rayman and Just Dance games at Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/13/play-new-rabbids-rayman-and-just-dance-games-at-comic-con/">Play new Rabbids, Rayman and Just Dance games at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 22:00:00 EST. Ubisoft <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/just-dance-3-coming-to-all-motion-platforms-this-october/">announced</a> <em>Just Dance 3</em> during its press conference yesterday, with the dance simulator coming to "all motion platforms." That means the series, which has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/14/dance-games-made-it-rain-on-ubisofts-holiday-quarter/">sold over 10 million units</a> between the main series and its spin-offs, no longer exists primarily in the Wii's domain.<br />
