If you're also one of those people looking forward to grabbing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/zone-of-the-enders-hd-collection"><em>Zone of the Enders HD Collection</em></a>, Konami has some synergy planned.<br /><br />During <a href="http://events.konami.com/">Konami's pre-E3 press briefing</a>, Hideo Kojima revealed an early-access demo for Metal Gear Rising: Reveangence would be included with <em>Zone of the Enders HD Collection</em>. He didn't go into any details about how players will access the demo, but at least we know the important first step: you have to buy <em>Zone of the Enders HD Collection</em>. PSN and Xbox Live users will be able to access the same demo at a later date.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/01/early-access-metal-gear-rising-demo-included-with-zone-of-the-en/">Early access Metal Gear Rising demo included with Zone of the Enders HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Jun 2012 02:03:00 EST. Players will recruit and grow their Royal Guard from their own kingdom, and then basically throw all those people at enemies.<br /><br />We might admit to being a bit ... cautious ... about the new art style and loss of Kimura's guidance, but at least with this announcement, we'll have the opportunity to judge for ourselves.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/">New Little King’s Story (Vita)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/#5054347"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/nlks01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/#5054348"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/nlks02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/#5054349"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/nlks03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/#5054350"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/nlks04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/new-little-king-s-story-vita/#5054351"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/nlks05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/new-little-kings-story-graces-vita-in-north-america-this-summer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Little King's Story graces Vita in North America this summer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/new-little-kings-story-graces-vita-in-north-america-this-summer/">New Little King's Story graces Vita in North America this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 May 2012 17:30:00 EST. Konami has finally officially announced a June 12 North American launch date for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a> on the PlayStation Vita and it's unsurprisingly June 12 in North America. The Vita port includes new control options, utilizing the touch-screen and rear touchpad, allowing players to "zoom in on captivating cut-scenes, peek around corners, interrogate enemies, cycle through weapons, and perform rapid attacks with their knife."<br /><br />In addition to the new control options, the PS Vita version of <em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em> can use <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/transfarring">Transfarring</a> to sync save files with the PS3 game. Of course to use this feature you need to own <em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em> on both the PS3 and PS Vita.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/konami-confirms-june-12-launch-date-for-metal-gear-solid-hd-on-v/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Konami confirms June 12 launch date for Metal Gear Solid HD on Vita</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/konami-confirms-june-12-launch-date-for-metal-gear-solid-hd-on-v/">Konami confirms June 12 launch date for Metal Gear Solid HD on Vita</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 May 2012 18:30:00 EST. Other retailers don't yet agree: <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/ps-vita/games/silent-hill-book-of-memories/99306">GameStop</a> says May 22, and <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/Rent-Silent-Hill-Book-of-Memories/5001620/#.T7EzU59YvMA">GameFly</a> has a terrifying "TBD" date.<br /><br />At least Amazon's $5 credit offer is active, if you pre-order the game in advance of its eventual release. And in other sort of good news, the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hill-Memories-Daniel-Licht/dp/B007AU26DW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1337013096&amp;sr=8-2">soundtrack</a> was released last month, so you can listen to that while you wait. We're checking with Konami for an accurate release window.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/">Silent Hill: Book of Memories (Vita)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/#5022644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/earthworldmultiplayer02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/#5022646"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/fireworldmultiplayer02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/#5022647"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/fireworldmultiplayer03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/#5022648"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/fireworldmultiplayer04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-book-of-memories-vita/#5022651"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/lightworldmultiplayer01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/14/amazon-shelves-silent-hill-book-of-memories-until-october/">Amazon shelves Silent Hill: Book of Memories until October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 May 2012 15:15:00 EST. It's also difficult to tell whether this RAY model is the manned version created by the Marines, or the unmanned mass-produced model designed by the Patriots. Either way, we desperately want these things adorning our various fireplace mantels as soon as humanly possible. Check out high-resolution shots of all three statues in the gallery below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/">ReVenture Statue Prototypes</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/#4992776"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/metalgearrayprototypefigure_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/#4992777"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/portal2prototypefigures_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/29/threea-toys-unveils-prototype-portal-2-and-metal-gear-solid-2-st/">ThreeA Toys unveils prototype Portal 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2 statuettes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Apr 2012 22:00:00 EST. Konami has issued a rare Two Patch Announcement for <em>Silent Hill Downpour</em> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/silent-hill-hd-collection"><em>Silent Hill HD Collection</em></a>, planning to fix framerate problems and audio synching in the former, and auto-save issues in the latter.<br /><br />Both updates will be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in "the coming weeks." Still unaddressed, however, is the strange bug that occasionally causes the in-game environment to get all creepy and evil-looking.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/konami-patching-up-both-silent-hill-downpour-and-hd-collection/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Konami patching up both Silent Hill Downpour and HD Collection</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/konami-patching-up-both-silent-hill-downpour-and-hd-collection/">Konami patching up both Silent Hill Downpour and HD Collection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2012 14:45:00 EST. It's fitting that he should be tapped for the soundtrack to Konami's next horror-themed game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/silent-hill-book-of-memories"><em>Silent Hill: Book of Memories</em></a>.<br /><br />Licht is doing a live show in LA this June, where he'll belt out a few samples from the <em>Book of Memories</em> soundtrack. He'll be joined by vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, who also is featured on the <em>Silent Hill: Book of Memories</em> soundtrack. Tickets are on sale now for the June 10 show, which takes place at the Largo at the Coronot Theatre.<br /><br />[Thanks, XLM. The movie will hit your local cineplex on October 26, and when we say "hit," we mean "climb through a moist, fleshy hole, screaming with the voice of an injured fawn trapped at the bottom of a well."<br /><br /><em>Silent Hill: Revelation 3D</em> stars Sean Bean, Carrie-Anne Moss and loosely follows the plot of <em>Silent Hill 3</em>, in that one of the characters is named Heather Mason and there's a lot of gross stuff probably. Silent Hill films that <em>aren't</em> about James Sunderland still don't really sit well with us, but we'll see anything that reportedly has Akira Yamaoka's music in it.<br /><br />Actually, we <em>have</em> to see anything with Akira Yamaoka's music in it. We attended a talk he gave during GDC once, and the music he played for his panel was actually a spiritually binding contract with dark, eldritch terrors. If we don't see this movie, bad things will happen to our organs.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/18/silent-hill-revelation-3d-in-theaters-october-26/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Silent Hill: Revelation 3D in theaters October 26</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/18/silent-hill-revelation-3d-in-theaters-october-26/">Silent Hill: Revelation 3D in theaters October 26</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Apr 2012 19:00:00 EST. What's more, its also an anime-style 2D fighter from an American development studio, which is <em>crazy</em>. I've been following <em>Skullgirls</em>' production since it was announced last year, and as much as I wish it were the paradigm-shifting indie darling the fighting game scene so desperately needs, that is sadly not the case.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/">Skullgirls (XBLA/PSN)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/#4961858"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/skullgirls01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/#4961859"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/skullgirls02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/#4961861"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/skullgirls03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/#4961863"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/skullgirls04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/skullgirls-0/#4961865"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/skullgirls05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/skullgirls-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Skullgirls review: Close, but no cigar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/skullgirls-review/">Skullgirls review: Close, but no cigar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 14:00:00 EST. "Today and tomorrow I am in the land of Dracul... What am I doing there?? You will see...." he <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/CastlevaniaLOS/status/186788518977220608">wrote</a> earlier today. Despite his teasing, Cox wouldn't tell us anything beyond "No comment." <br /><br />This is hardly the first indication of a sequel to 2010's <em>Castlevania: Lords of Shadow,</em> and it seems likely that Konami is once again working with Spanish studio MercurySteam. One employee posted the teaser image seen above to his website back in late January, specifically pointing out the connection to Konami.<br /><br />Another staff member, taking to Spanish radio (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.es/articles/mercury-steam-trabaja-en-un-nuevo-castlevania">Eurogamer ES</a>), mentioned his involvement with a sequel in late 2010 (though it's possible he was just riding high on the first game's then-recent debut). Konami's official line on the matter is ... well, nothing. The publisher hasn't made a peep regarding a new <em>Castlevania</em>.<br /><br />Regardless, with PAX East just a few days away and the upcoming preview season, we expect it won't be long before Konami's tune changes. We'll keep an eye on <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/CastlevaniaLOS">Cox's Twitter feed</a> as well, just in case.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/02/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-producer-teasing-new-game-namedrop/">Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer teasing new game, namedrops Dracula</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2012 18:00:00 EST. EMI is looking for compensation on 54 songs from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/def-jam-rapstar-tracklist/"><em>Def Jam Rapstar</em>'s total tracklist</a>, and with EMI looking for upwards of $150,000 for each "infringement" that total tab is looking mighty steep. In the worst case, that brings us to total of $8.1 million<em>.</em><br /><br />The karaoke aspect of <em>Def Jam Rapstar</em>, and its online video-sharing capabilities, also make this dispute trickier, since EMI owns the rights to display, publicly perform and distribute these songs. Please excuse us while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/def-jam-rapstar-visited-by-surprise-musical-guest/">we try to get Richard a good lawyer</a> in case EMI targets us next.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/31/emi-sues-def-jam-rapstar-creators/">EMI sues Def Jam Rapstar creators</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 31 Mar 2012 01:30:00 EST. Including every single Metal Gear release, from the original <em>Metal Gear</em> on the MSX2 through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD</em> <em>Collection</em></a> for the 360 and PS3, Hideo Kojima's groundbreaking masterclass in theatrics and stealth has amassed 31.1 million units sold, as of December 31, 2011.<br /><br />To put that in perspective via a completely arbitrary and meaningless number crunch, that's 3.8 Metal Gear games sold for every person living in New York City. Put another way, if you took every Metal Gear game ever sold and laid them all end to end, the resulting line of cartridges, discs and boxes would stretch all the way from San Francisco to <em>somewhere else</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/17/metal-gear-series-sells-31-1-mill-over-lifetime/">Metal Gear series sells 31.1 mill over lifetime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2012 21:00:00 EST. That doesn't mean he isn't working on <em>anything</em>, however: "I'm working on something, and I hope in the near future I'll have something to announce."<br /><br />Well then! Here's hoping for that live-action <em>Snatcher</em> adaptation we've been dreaming of since 1994.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/17/kojima-working-on-something-related-to-film-announcement-comi/">Kojima working on 'something' related to film, announcement coming in the 'near future'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2012 13:30:00 EST. The first <em>Metal Gear Solid</em>'s controller port trick is but one example of his bizarre, outside-the-box thinking when it comes to making games. As it turns out, he was trying to do so as early as 1988, when he first worked on the original <em>Snatcher</em> for Konami.<br /><br />During a roundtable interview session today, just ahead of his appearance at the Smithsonian's "The Art of Videogames" event, Kojima detailed his first forays beyond the game as presented on screen. "Back when I was making <em>Snatcher</em>, which is a PC game - at the time we used floppy disks," he said. "One thing that I wanted to do that I wasn't able to do was that I wanted to have a secret message on the disk -- actually have something written or printed on the disk." Kojima wanted the missive to be heat activated - which is to say "activated by the heat created by the disk drive itself." S ... seriously?<br /><br />"So maybe when you put it in your disk drive and you're playing for about fifteen minutes, the heat from the disk drive interacts with that chemical and creates a certain smell. It smells like blood or something like that," he said through a translator. "And when you pull it out you see like a dying message on the disk. That was actually an idea I had for the original <em>Snatcher</em> but unfortunately I got yelled at for it and they didn't let me do it." Isn't it always "they?" Those guys are <em>the worst!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/16/hideo-kojima-recalls-snatchers-heat-activated-disk-what/">Hideo Kojima recalls Snatcher's heat-activated disk (what?)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Mar 2012 19:30:00 EST. And yet, the human mind quickly adapts, swiftly categorizing and sterilizing even the bizarre world Konami created all those years ago. With seven games to its name, Silent Hill has arguably been gathering rust for quite some time.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/review-silent-hill-shattered-memories/"><em>Silent Hill: Shattered Memories</em></a> did wonders to revitalize the series, though the fresh take on its mythos did little to move copies off of retail shelves. Enter <em>Silent Hill: Downpour</em>, which tries to have it both ways, hewing a bit closer to the series' roots while attempting to offer a new twist on the twisted traditions of Silent Hill.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/">Silent Hill: Downpour (PS3/Xbox 360)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/#3812357"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/silenthilldownpour12401_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/#3812358"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/silenthilldownpour12402_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/#3812359"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/silenthilldownpour12403_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/#3812361"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/silenthilldownpour12404_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/silent-hill-downpour-ps3-xbox-360/#3812362"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/silenthilldownpour12405_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/13/silent-hill-downpour-review-when-youre-strange/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Silent Hill: Downpour review: When you're strange</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/13/silent-hill-downpour-review-when-youre-strange/">Silent Hill: Downpour review: When you're strange</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Mar 2012 16:00:00 EST. Though it was initially partnered with EA, nothing has come of that deal, and to date no projects have come out that are officially attached to Armature.<br /><br />It's quite a surprise, then, to see the studio's name on this Japanese website for the PlayStation Vita version of <a href="http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/hd/mgs/vita.html"><em>Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection</em></a>. Its name is listed as co-developer along with fellow Austin studio Bluepoint Games, who was responsible for the console versions (and many other HD remakes of this generation).<br /><br />So if you decide to pick up <em>Metal Gear Solid 2</em> and <em>3</em> in handheld form this summer (June in Japan), you'll be playing the first game(s) by Armature Studio!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/">Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/#4888294"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/mgs202_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/#4888295"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/mgs210_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/#4888296"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/mgs211_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/#4888297"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/mgs214_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-vita/#4888298"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/mgs215_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/11/armature-studio-assisting-with-metal-gear-solid-hd-edition-on-v/">Armature Studio assisting with Metal Gear Solid: HD Edition on Vita</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 11 Mar 2012 10:30:00 EST. Sadly, it will be one Snake short, as <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em> is not part of the Vita collection. That leaves only two titles on the tiny Vita card, namely <em>Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty</em> and <em>Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater</em>.<br /><br />The Vita version comes packing new touch screen controls and the ability to "Transfar" Trophy data between the Vita and PS3 versions of each game. Moreover, Dyer teased Konami's game as a "stealth project" that will "debut soon."<br /><br />No word was given on the other projects from Rebellion and Playdemic, but we're following up for more info. Like, <em>right now</em>.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> This piece originally speculated that the title was <em>Metal Gear</em> related, due to its "stealth" wording; however, Zynga PR tells us what the wording really means is that Konami is working on the project "quietly." With the project coming "soon," it shouldn't take too long to find out exactly what Dyer's carefully worded speech was referring to.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/08/zynga-welcoming-konami-rebellion-and-playdemic-to-zynga-com/">Zynga welcoming Konami, Rebellion, and Playdemic to Zynga.com</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Mar 2012 19:47:00 EST. As <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/02/29/silent-hill-hd-collection-delayed-again.aspx">Game Informer</a> notes, the survival horror classics were intended to creep in by March 6, after having already been delayed from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/retailers-silent-hill-hd-collection-delayed-until-march/">January</a>.<br /><br />Despite this delay, March is still set to be a mad month of Silent Hill. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/silent-hill-downpour"><em>Silent Hill: Downpour</em></a> should be out on March 13, and Vita's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/silent-hill-book-of-memories"><em>Book of Memories</em></a> on March 27. Now, the HD collection will be sandwiched inbetween, with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/26/pegi-silent-hill-2-and-3-separated-from-hd-collection-on-xbla-a/">digital launch expected</a> sometime after.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Konami has reconfirmed launch dates for <em>Downpour</em> and <em>Book of Memories</em> as listed above.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/29/silent-hill-hd-collection-delayed-to-march-20/">Silent Hill HD Collection delayed to March 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Feb 2012 17:00:00 EST. What's the point of applying a score to a game that's old enough to be enrolled in the sixth grade? That's why we invented <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deja-review">Deja Review</a>: A quick look at the new features and relative agelessness of remade, revived and re-released games.</small></font><hr /><center> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/deja-review-metal-gear-solid-snake-eater-3d/"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/snakeeater228.png" vspace="4" /></a></center>After a really shaky E3 demo, I was worried about how Konami's 3DS remake of <em>Metal Gear Solid 3 </em>was going to turn out. I'm entirely willing to replay this game -- one of my favorite games ever -- on every platform Konami will sell it to me on, so I was hoping to at least have a good experience when dutifully playing it on the handheld.<br /><br />To my relief, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-3d-snake-eater"><em>Metal Gear Solid 3D</em></a> is a real, playable, enjoyable version of the game, and it's on a handheld. Even without the crutch of a Circle Pad Pro attachment, the controls work fine! There are some compromises thanks to the small format -- but there are also a few things that the 3DS version does <em>better</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/">Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D (TGS 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/#4454301"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/mgsse3dssd02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/#4454302"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/mgsse3dssu02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/#4454303"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/mgsse3d001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/#4454304"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/mgsse3d002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d-tgs-2011/#4454305"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/mgsse3d003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/deja-review-metal-gear-solid-snake-eater-3d/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deja Review: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/deja-review-metal-gear-solid-snake-eater-3d/">Deja Review: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 19:00:00 EST. We already know that Project Ogre will be an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/21/kojimas-project-ogre-takes-place-in-an-open-world/">open world game with 100-plus hours of content</a>, and that it will be a "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/26/kojimas-project-ogre-will-be-different-but-not-anytime-soon/">very subdued experience</a>," but what that experience <em>actually is</em> has remained a mystery.<br /><br />We have learned, however, that Kojima's use of the word "Ogre" in the project's codename is literal, rather than figurative, and that the game will deal with actual ogres in some capacity, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/Kojima_Hideo/status/172836368039415808">a tweet</a> translated by <a href="http://andriasang.com/con039/kojima_project_ogre/">Andriasang</a>. It's also interesting to note that the Japanese word for ogre, "oni," can also be translated to mean "devil" or "demon," so we may end up with one of those rather than an actual ogre. Our prediction is that this whole thing turns out to be a licensed <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urusei_Yatsura">Urusei Yatsura</a> dating game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/24/kojima-clarifies-the-ogre-in-project-ogre/">Kojima clarifies the 'ogre' in 'Project Ogre'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 13:30:00 EST. Discussing a new brand manager position on Twitter, Imaizumi said "Yes, we plan to open a studio in CA. IF we can find the right people."<br /><br />In what we hope is a coincidence, this comes right after our newly California-located editor-in-chief delivered his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/next-metal-gear-solid-targeted-for-high-end-consoles-and-pc/">tongue-in-cheek pitch</a> for a new Metal Gear game, while passing along news of Kojipro's impending development efforts. You can't have him, Imaizumi!<br /><br />If you're Japanese-English bilingual and California-local, however, and you're not my boss, you can swing by booth 1914 at the career pavilion at GDC to get in on this opportunity.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/kojima-productions-planning-new-studio-in-california/">Kojima Productions planning new studio in California</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 11:15:00 EST. This pack also unlocks a new playable character (just like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/08/neverdead-dlc-coming-feb-21-with-new-playable-character-and-mod/">the first download</a>), this time putting you behind the controller as NADA's Chief Sullivan. And while the first pack opened up new modes for the Asylum level, this one focuses on the Sewers, bringing Onslaught, Egg Hunt, and the Fragile Alliance challenges to that area of the game.<br /><br />There are two additional character costumes for the main character, to match the two new ones from the last pack. Expansion Pack Volume 2 will be available next week on February 28.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/">NeverDead Expansion Pack Volume 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/#4834304"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/neverdeaddlc2-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/#4834305"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/neverdeaddlc2-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/#4834306"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/neverdeaddlc2-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/#4834307"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/neverdeaddlc2-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-expansion-pack-2/#4834308"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/neverdeaddlc2-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/neverdead-gets-volume-2-dlc-with-another-character-more-challen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NeverDead gets Volume 2 DLC with another character, more challenges and skins</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/neverdead-gets-volume-2-dlc-with-another-character-more-challen/">NeverDead gets Volume 2 DLC with another character, more challenges and skins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 01:30:00 EST.
