Why? Same reason you may be interested in the artbook, or the other action figures: exclusive DLC.

A Kotobukiya rep told Tomopop that the Liara figure would pack some <strike>exclusive</strike> DLC for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Mass Effect 3. There's no word on what that DLC is yet, but if you already know you want it, you can pre-order the toy for $60. It ships in July.

Update: Kotobukiya sent us more information about the DLC. It's not exclusive items, but rather a "Reinforcement Pack" with a selection of random class/race unlocks, weapons, and items.
Mass Effect Liara figurine also includes Mass Effect 3 DLC [update] originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 10:35:00 EST. When verbal communication fails to adequately convey your immense love for Ikaruga, it's time to invest in an intricate, 1/144 scale replica of one of the game's ships. And we do mean invest: the gorgeous "Hitekkai Ikaruga" injection-plastic kit from Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya requires time, art supplies, assembly and painting. Depending on your level of interest, you're either seeing "fun weekend project" or "help help I've glued my blue fingers together again."

According to Tomopop and HobbyLink Japan, the Ikaruga kit will ship in June. Early pre-orders, from now until April 6th, can get it for a discounted price of 3,840 Yen ($46). Motivation: If you've already mastered Treasure's intense test of polarity clarity, what challenge could there be in a pile of fiddly, plastic pieces?
Ikaruga model kits due in Japan this June originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 19 Feb 2011 17:30:00 EST.
Capcom has inked a deal with Japanese <strike>toymaker</strike> collectibles purveyor Kotobukiya that will see the latter producing <strike>toys</strike> action figures based on the Variable Suits (i.e. power armor) featured in Lost Planet 2. Set to mech their debut in May, the two VS reproductions will retail for $39.99 each -- which seems pretty steep, until you consider just how detailed they actually are.

Both figures will stand 6" tall and feature more than 20 points of articulation, plus functioning canopies and -- taking a cue from the game -- removable, interchangeable heavy weapons. It'll be up to you to provide the appropriate sound effects. Check out slightly larger photos of the itty-bitty bots after the break.

Continue reading Lost Planet 2 action figures vs. your wallet

Lost Planet 2 action figures vs. your wallet originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 29 Jan 2010 02:13:00 EST. Available this October for the gotta have it price of $99.99 is a one foot tall Master Chief ARTFX figure featuring energy sword, dual magnums and our Chief in the "let's get the heck out of hear" classic pose. Yup, it's expensive and a little excessive, but how can you pass up something like this? It's not like you actually have something more important to spend $100 on ... really.
