There's a jargon to it (littered with player and team names full of weird capitalization and strange spellings) that's about as complicated to understand as the notoriously complex game itself.<br /><br />Riot's Vice President of eSports Dustin Beck even says that a recent tournament he attended was a big mess on its own: "The tournament kept pausing, it never started on time, you didn't have a schedule to know when your favorite teams were playing. It wasn't a fun experience, for me."<br /><br />Still, eSports is one of the biggest factors in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/league-of-legends"><em>League of Legends</em></a>' overwhelming popularity, with thousands of people attending these tournaments, and millions (almost ten million, in fact) watching live online. So how does Riot plan to smooth out those wrinkles that keep an even larger audience out of the game? The company will take the game into Season 3 within the next few weeks, and with it begins Riot's eSports headliner, the <em>League of Legends</em> Championship Series.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/30/riot-games-plan-to-standardize-esports/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Riot Games' plan to standardize eSports</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/30/riot-games-plan-to-standardize-esports/">Riot Games' plan to standardize eSports</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Jan 2013 13:00:00 EST. If you have a question for the team, send an e-mail to <em>andrew @ pspfanboy.com</em> with the subject "<strong>Ask PSP Fanboy</strong>."<br /><br /><strong>Q:</strong> With news of the recent "Hello World" N00bz <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/25/exploit-found-in-all-psps-up-to-3-03-downgrader-coming-soon/">exploit for 2.81-3.03 PSPs</a>, word is that an un-patched version of <em>GTA: Liberty City Stories</em> will be required for the future downgrader. How can I explicitly tell an un-patched <em>GTA:LCS</em> from a patched one?<br /><strong>A:</strong> Hope this image from <a href="http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-31364.html">DCEmu</a> helps:<br /><a href="http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/271/jim420gtaunpatchedqjpreviewthez5.jpg"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/01/patchversus.jpg" /></a><br /><br />The unpatched version seems to feature different pictures. As a general rule of thumb, you'll have to look for the oldest copies you can find, so they'll most likely be used. When you pop in the disc, make sure the game offers a 2.0 firmware upgrade, not anything higher. Good luck.<br /><br />See more questions after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/27/ask-psp-fanboy-volume-4/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ask PSP Fanboy: Volume 4</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/27/ask-psp-fanboy-volume-4/">Ask PSP Fanboy: Volume 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Jan 2007 23:00:00 EST. Unlike many other awards, the Golden Joysticks are voted for by the fans. Nintendo DS fans will be comforted to know their handheld took the "Family Game of the Year" and "Girl's Choice" awards with their pet simulator <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/nintendogs"><em>Nintendogs</em></a>. However, PSP fanboys will be glad to know that we got... well, an award that really matters: the "Handheld Game of the Year." It was awarded to the impressive <em>Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories</em> (whose sequel is coming out in just a few days).<br /><br />The "Game of the Year" award went to a non-PSP game, <em>Oblivion</em>. But wait, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/06/oblivion-first-magazine-scan-found/">we're getting that too</a>. I guess Nintendo fans can just enjoy <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2006/05/22/nintendogs-dalmatian-and-friends-in-time-for-lite-launch/">yet another version</a> of <em>Nintendogs</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2006/10/27/the-ds-brings-home-a-few-golden-joysticks/">DS Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/29/psp-wins-best-handheld-game-award-ds-gets-family-nod/">PSP wins best handheld game award; DS gets family nod</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Oct 2006 07:45:00 EST. A few blocks away Sony has erected one of the world's largest PSP displays (<a href="http://ouziel.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/psp1_3.jpg" target="_blank">seen here</a>), which towers over the intersection of Lafayette and Houston.
