The company issued a statement (excerpted by VG247) confirming the existence of the game. Of course, it's not final.

The leaked video was "intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features," Ubisoft said, referring to the game as "Rayman Origins' sequel." The video was meant for "internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits." In other words, it was a demonstration for the people working on the game, not a demonstration of the game.

The upside of this leak is that we can now issue feedback to the team working on the actual game, in the form of this open statement: Hey, that footage looked great. Make the game look like that.
Ubisoft: Rayman Legends leak is real, 'purely internal demonstrative video' originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 27 Apr 2012 11:56:00 EST. But don't get too excited - it didn't work. And it was Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. The game could be purchased, but presented errors when users attempted to run it or view the manual, suggesting that PSOne Classics support is not quite ready on the Vita.

However, the "LiveArea" for the game - the screen that pops up when you tap a game's icon, where you can choose to launch the game, view the manual, check the store for DLC, etc. - displayed a custom PSOne-style background, suggesting that, at least, some work has been put in on the Vita's PSOne emulation.
PSOne Classic for Vita released early in Europe, doesn't work yet originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 26 Apr 2012 14:20:00 EST. In the case of Resistance: The Trilogy, well, apparently Amazon France isn't too concerned. A listing - one that's still live as of this writing - for just such a game popped up on Amazon France, spotted by UK site CVG.

The listing puts a May 16 launch date and a €59.99 ($79.99) price tag on the unannounced bundle, which we're guessing means a May 15 launch here in North America (and a likely $59.99 pricing). You've probably already guessed as much, but the product listing confirms the trilogy as a repackaging of the three Resistance titles already available for the PlayStation 3. With such a revealing product page, we expect to hear something more official from Sony as the day goes on. We've reached out regardless in the meantime.
'Resistance: The Trilogy' pops up on Amazon France with May 16 launch originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:15:00 EST. Are you fully braced? You should probably brace yourself for this shocking news: Halo 4 will have Grunts, Elites, and guns. Yes, it's true, Master Chief will once again be blasting through suicidal Grunts and proud Elites in his battle against ... well, we're not really sure.

But these latest shots, freshly leaked on AllGamesBeta, assure us that at least two of Halo's classic foes will be returning in Halo 4. We're holding out hope that the Flood manage to miss this round. Please, 343 Industries? Pretty please?

Regardless, the screen above also indicates it's been over three years since the Chief's last contact with his former UNSC buddies. That's quite a bit of sleep. Enough to call it hibernation, even! And now we're picturing space bears in hibernation. Thanks, Halo.

Gallery: Halo 4 (Concept Art)

New Halo 4 shots reintroduce Grunts, Elites, and ... guns? originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 12:05:00 EST. Sony has yet to formally announce a new God of War game for PlayStation 3, but retailers and composers seem to be doing a fine job of making it known.

Based on cover art pulled from Amazon's servers, it seems the upcoming game has ditched the Roman numerals in favor of a succinct subtitle. Of course, the important number is the Greek one -- as in where will Kratos find the ancient gods to up his already extravagant body count? (Update: It looks like the game is a prequel, so there should be some hitherto unknown bodies to skewer.)

We'll let you know as soon as we learn more about God of War: Ascension.
Continue reading 'God of War: Ascension' art leaks [update: teaser trailer too!]

'God of War: Ascension' art leaks [update: teaser trailer too!] originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 18 Apr 2012 22:42:00 EST. Community manager "Nethaera" said an update on the outages will be issued at approximately 11am PDT (2pm EDT). The beta is currently "unavailable until further notice."

Ars Technica reports that starting around 6am EDT, a glitch inadvertently allowed free access to something called the "Starter Edition" of Diablo 3 to anyone with a Battle.net account, whether or not they had access to the Diablo 3 beta.

Here's where it gets really interesting, as if free Diablo 3 weren't already interesting. The previously unannounced "Starter Edition" that was distributed in this manner had all the features of the beta, Ars reports, but occasionally asked players to buy the complete game. In other words, it was a free-to-play version of Diablo 3, or a feature-rich demo. Those are kind of the same thing.
Diablo 3 beta servers down after accidental 'Starter Edition' release originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 18 Apr 2012 12:15:00 EST. The sequel to 2010's Medal of Honor is also being handled by EA's Danger Close studio, though DICE isn't picking up the multiplayer slack this time around. As October 23 is a Tuesday, it looks like that will also account for a US release date, but we've reached out to EA for clarification all the same.

Update: EA released the US trailer as well now, which shows October 23 as the release date too. The one with all the ridiculous existential questions, who had clearly lost his mind many moons before Desmond's arrival? Apparently that dude is the focus of the next DLC pack for AC: R, The Lost Archive, as a retailer-leaked video reveals.

The game's listing on Zavvi reportedly had the above video before it was pulled, though the retail site still lists some details about the third DLC pack's contents. Beyond the campaign stuff you'll be running through as Subject 16, the Lost Archive DLC comes with three character skins, Ezio's Turkish-flavored assassins armor, a fancy robe from Altair, and Brutus' armor.

It looks like the Lost Archive may aim to link Revelations to the barely detailed next Assassin's Creed franchise entry, but we can't be sure just yet. We've asked Ubisoft for more details and will update this post if we hear more. The Lost Archive DLC launches on February 28 for $15 on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.
AC: Revelations' 'Lost Archive' DLC dives into the life of Subject 16 originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 23 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. This is presumably the same DLC as the rumored "From Dust" installment, which at least one GameStop customer may now need to get a refund for. Dust and ashes are two very different things, after all, but we bet any name switching came to avoid possible confusion with 2011's From Dust (if it wasn't a GameStop typo to begin with).

From Ashes will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Mass Effect 2 included the squad member Zaeed as free DLC in new copies, and From Ashes could very well be a new iteration of this format.

For a brief description of the DLC (now with 100 percent more spoilers!) read on:
Continue reading Mass Effect 3 DLC 'From Ashes' drifts down to Xbox Marketplace

Mass Effect 3 DLC 'From Ashes' drifts down to Xbox Marketplace originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 18:18:00 EST. "We want to be clear that is not something we did ourselves," RedLynx managing director Tero Virtala told Develop.

Virtala also challenged pirates who snagged a copy of the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade exclusive. "Trials Evolution is a game that makes full use of being continuously connected," he pointed out; online-based additions like leaderboards and online multiplayer are unavailable in the leaked version due to Microsoft's monitoring of hacked Xbox 360s.

A recent PEGI rating clued us in that Trials Evolution will launch sometime soon, but Virtala also teased a "new trailer coming soon which will give people a much better look into everything the game will hold and when they can expect to see it." We're especially interested in that last part.
Trials: Evolution leaked (but not by RedLynx this time) originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 08:30:00 EST. Someone at British brick-and-mortar franchise Game seems to have confirmed our expectant attitude towards EA's Need for Speed franchise. The British retail outlet's Twitter account documented a trip to EA for a presentation, and casually noted plans for a new Need for Speed ("Need for Speed 13!"), not to mention a word on the as-yet-unseen Medal of Honor sequel. As Eurogamer reports, the tweet is no longer available, though other volleys from the account confirm the retailer's presence at an EA presentation.

EA has spoken about a Medal of Honor sequel in the past, though this is the first we've heard of it in quite some time. It's said to be developed by EA's Danger Close studio, and we're not sure if Battlefield studio EA DICE will be once more tasked with handling the multiplayer component. Meanwhile, following the pattern of annual Need for Speed releases, it's likely that Burnout studio Criterion will be tasked with the thirteenth (!!) entry in the series.

We've reached out to EA for comment, but aren't expecting much more than some light under its breath cursing.

Update: In response to this report, an EA rep told Joystiq, "We do not comment on rumor or speculation."
The Windows Phone is carrying on quietly with its existence, launching update 7.5 and recently letting slip a list of games coming to Xbox Live on Windows Phone, including Age of Zombies, Bullet Asylum, geoDefense Swarm and Tamagotchi. These titles are already available on Android and iOS devices, except for Bullet Asylum, which was announced for Windows Phone, Xbox 360 and PC last last year, and whose trailer you can watch above.

In related Windows Phone news, Ska Studios' Z0MB1ES (on teh ph0ne) dropped for version 7.5 yesterday. For $2.99 it includes I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1, the ENDL3SS Z0MB1ES mode and a new title from Ska, Time Viking. Looks like it's time to change your "number of reasons to buy Windows Phone" to three.
Windows Phone leaks new games, sounds like a personal problem originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 23:15:00 EST. The cross-over character cavalcade of fun that is Street Fighter X Tekken continues to hemorrhage new fighters, albeit this time the announcement is somewhat less flashy (and far more unintentional) than previous roster reveals.

A new screenshot uploaded to SFXT's Xbox Live Marketplace page, upon close inspection, shows the portraits of Iron Fist veteran Ling Xiaoyu and Shadowloo head honcho M. Bison, as seen in the zoomed and enhanced image above. This brings the game's character stable to an even 30 fighters, PS3/Vita exclusive peeps not included. We're excited about the prospect of psycho-crushing our foes once again, but we also can't help but be disappointed by SFXT's severe lack of snake-arm minotaurs and farting dinosaurs.
Xiaoyu and M. "We are still investigating, but it appears that some internal story files have been leaked," Mass Effect 3 producer Jesse Houston admitted on the company's forums. Apparently said story files aren't representative of "the final story experience," but Houston's urging fans nonetheless to skip reading them, "if they want to experience the purest form of the story in Mass Effect 3."

Perhaps even crazier in ME3 leak news, the game's private beta became notably public for people participating in the preview for the upcoming Dashboard reboot, with an approximately 13 minute video running through the entire thing. It kinda, sorta contains some light spoilers, but it's nothing you haven't already heard about in preview coverage (the beta is identical content to what we've seen of ME3 in various press events, minus co-op). As previously noted, the leaked beta is missing a variety of major technical aspects (animation issues, missing sound), so it's not the best representative of the game's final product, but it is a chance to see some early Husk murder. And boy do we like Husk murders!

Sure, Gears of War 3 may come out in a couple of days, but that knowledge alone isn't enough to quench the internet's insatiable thirst for juicy details. Information deprivation, when combined with insanely high levels of anticipation, can mutate into a virtually transmitted disease known colloquially as "Release Date Syndrome."

The cure for Gears of War 3's specific strain of RDS is available over the counter and can be found both above and after the break. The treatment is only effective when ingested ocularly, and cannot be swallowed, administered intravenously, or given as a suppository. Please keep in mind that this treatment program has not been approved by the FDA, and as such may be taken down at any time.

May cause increased heart rate, difficulty breathing, incoherent babbling and Release Date Syndrome.
Minecraft's massive Adventure Update 1.8 has been leaked -- by Mojang right-hand man, Jens Bergensten, or Jeb. Minecraft creator Markus Persson is content with the leak, as shown through his subtle use of a winking emoticon in this tweet, and the following message, which says, "(I am fine with you using it. Make sure you get it from the leaked url we are hosting, though)."

Jeb affirmed his part in the leak with yet another emoticon, in the long-eyed equals-sign style, on a Reddit post. Jeb had previously tweeted he would upload the jar file for "expert users," which is exactly what he did nine hours later. If you're an expert Minecrafter, download the file here and get your adventure started.
When a developer leaks its own game a few days early, we think that should just be called a release. But hey, what do we know?
Minecraft 1.8 update leaked by Mojang originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 09 Sep 2011 18:00:00 EST. Ubisoft hasn't killed its action shooter I Am Alive, but it must have the game tied to a chair in a dank basement room with only one way out, through a three-inch-thick steel door surrounded by a moat of hungry alligators with lasers for eyes, because we've not heard anything from it in months. If this scenario is true (and we have no reason to believe it isn't), someone must have forgotten to lock the door and starve the wildlife, because new footage from I Am Alive has leaked, and it's gameplay-licious.

Watch the teaser above (starting at :31), before the game is locked away again, this time behind four inches of steel and alligators with lasers for heads.

Ubisoft's I Am Alive is alive, leaks out a new teaser trailer originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 20 Aug 2011 06:00:00 EST.
Rockstar's PlayStation 3 exclusive, Agent, remains a mystery. The game has yet to be shown off by the GTA developer since its first reveal in 2009, but a concept artist's portfolio, which was recently discovered by GameSpot, seems to show off the game's first visuals.

Former concept artist Leigh Donoghue outed the images on his personal website, which have since been removed. Donoghue is currently employed as an architecture visualization specialist (a concept artist for reality, if you will), though he presumably drew up the concept art for Agent at Rockstar North during his employment there from April 2005 to November 2009 -- an employment which ended just months after Agent's E3 reveal that year. We've reached out to Rockstar and Take-Two for comment, but the fact that the images have been removed, not to mention the fact that Donoghue drew concept art for a variety of other Rockstar projects while employed there, lend plenty of credence to their validity.

Otherwise, the most recent news from Take-Two/Rockstar about Agent is that it's "still in development," alongside the rarely seen Max Payne 3. Perhaps the Agent and Mr. Payne are cavorting around South America together?
As you might imagine, Epic Games wasn't exactly thrilled when an unfinished version of Gears of War 3 leaked onto torrent sites early last month. Executive producer Rod Fergusson told Edge in a recent interview that the breach was "saddening" and "frustrating," mostly because some fans were choosing to "ruin their own experience" before the full game's launch.

Fergusson specifically called out folks who shared video of the leaked game online, adding, "I get people going, 'oh no, I just watched this thing on YouTube and it's totally given away something'. And I go, 'well, why did you go looking and why did you watch it?" Probably the same reason why we can't stop going to Nicolas Cage movies: We can't not watch them, despite the fact that they're pretty harmful to the human psyche.
Epic on Gears of War 3 leak: 'saddening' and 'frustrating' originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 03 Aug 2011 00:50:00 EST. Neither has YouTube user FPSMoose, apparently, as he's compiled a more thorough (and likely leaked) assortment of footage. Take a peek before EA takes it out!

An unfinished developer build of Gears of War 3 has been leaked online, according to NeoGAF and supported by YouTube footage, including the above video showing a "Beta" Gears of War 3 loading screen and campaign footage.

The leak is a JTAG version of Gears 3, meaning it will only play on specially modded or dev-kit Xbox 360s. These are commonly difficult to come by, but just because you can't run the leaked code (you can't, right?) doesn't mean other, far less scrupulous people aren't capable. YouTube and video-streaming sites will most likely contain early videos of the game, so shoot your computer screen now if you don't want to see 'em.

We've reached out to Epic Games for comment on if, and how, this will affect Gears of War 3's development and release.

Update: Dana Cowley sent us a joint statement from Epic and Microsoft about the leak:

"We have seen the reports of Gears of War 3 content being propped on the Web and working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation.

Just about one week before Call of Duty: Black Ops' Escalation DLC was announced, the add-on was leaked by a promo flier from European retailer GAME. If the image recently posted to Xbox360Achievements is legit, the game's third map pack has suffered a similar fate. A purported Gamestop flyer shows off five of the next bundle's maps, a list which includes Hangar 18, Silo, Hazard, Drive-In and an unnamed Zombie mode map.

The only familiar name in the lineup is Silo, which was mentioned in a bit of code discovered in the latest Black Ops patch, released last month. If the flyer is real, and in the hands of Gamestop clerks across the country, we're sure to hear more about the pack soon. Until then, won't you join us in getting pumped by listening to "Hangar 18" on repeat?

Update: We've received a number of tips from Gamestop employees and shoppers with more purported details on the map pack. This YouTube video shows off what appears to be a number of in-store ads for the expansion, operating under the title "Annihilation." The flyers also show off a release date of June 28, 2011 -- meaning if they're real, we should know about it very soon. If you work at Gamestop and have seen these promo materials, please send in a tip!
Rumor: Third Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC leaked via flyer originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 15 Jun 2011 12:15:00 EST. Halo 4? Halo: Combat Evolved ... Anniversary? Wait ... Halo 4?! Allegedly, these titles (and more) were revealed by Microsoft itself, hours ahead of its 10AM (PT) press conference, on the company's E3 community site. NowGamer supposedly spotted the posting, which has since been removed by Microsoft, but not before a mess of details were loosed. Among them: news that "Halo 4 is on the way."

A scene from the end of Halo 3 prefaces the news, which also teases "but that's not all." As we reported back in February, a Halo: Combat Evolved "remaster" is also apparently in the pipeline. The image says nothing beyond the game being "remastered for a new generation," and dubs it "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" -- just in time for the ten year anniversary of Halo 1's original launch in November of 2001. We've reached out to Microsoft for comment, but we imagine we won't hear anything back until Microsoft's official presser in a few hours.
Rumor: Halo 4, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary revealed early by Microsoft originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 06 Jun 2011 10:46:00 EST. "Cool" was a word I was not expecting out of the man in charge of shepherding an enormous marketing campaign that had just been knocked off of its horse.

"No one wakes up and thinks, 'I hope there's been a leak and our timing gets all messed up,'" Hirshberg mused as he and I discussed the incident this week at a meeting at Activision HQ, but "if members of the government and the military aren't safe from this stuff, it's a part of our world now."

"And while it's definitely not cool to steal other people's intellectual property, and while it's definitely not cool to leak stuff that's not yours, there are ways that you can respond that actually turn the lemons into lemonade," he added. There's a slight possibility that yesterday, somewhere in Los Angeles, a very nervous person was holding a shaky camera in a dark room, where details on the upcoming Nintendo console were discussed. Though it's a fact that Nintendo held an event for developers in Los Angeles yesterday (as reported by Tiny Cartridge) we're highly suspicious of the YouTube video surfacing with supposed "Project Cafe" information.

A black splash screen opens the video with the dubious statement, "Private presentation of 'Project Cafe' by a video games editor," before approximately 40 seconds of similarly dubious slides are shown just feet above what is alleged to be a running "Project Cafe" unit. The slides depict some things you might expect, as well as some things that we very much doubt would leak. Seeing the rumored giant screen-equipped controller in action with an unidentifiable game, for instance, is especially hard to believe. More believable is the bland presentation of the console's dimensions, as well as specs for the aforementioned controller, though the clip taken in entirety is very hard to trust.

Take a look after the break and decide for yourself, then vote in our poll!
Continue reading Probably Not the Wii 2, Part IV: Liiked footage

Probably Not the Wii 2, Part IV: Liiked footage originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 18 May 2011 15:00:00 EST. Whoops! It seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops will get a second DLC pack on May 3, according to a flyer that allegedly popped up on GAME's Australian retail site (since pulled, but captured by VG247). The flyer advertises five seemingly distinct maps -- a zoo, a hotel, a convoy, a stockpile, and a new locale for the co-op Zombie Mode -- but doesn't list a price.

As per Activision and Microsoft's timed exclusivity agreement, the date only applies to Xbox Live for now. Activision couldn't be reached for comment as of publishing, but we'll update this story as soon as we get more information.
Continue reading Report: Black Ops 'Escalation' DLC outed by retail flyer, coming this May

Report: Black Ops 'Escalation' DLC outed by retail flyer, coming this May originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 11:00:00 EST. If you must suffer an unforeseen failure in confidentiality on any day of the year, what better day than April 1st? It's the one time when the internet can muster some skepticism, even while presented with purportedly leaked footage of a high-profile sequel. Doubt over the authenticity of an "internal" pitch video of Forza Motorsport 4 might have obscured the news, had Microsoft not pulled it from Youtube.

According to a Microsoft statement received and published by several gaming news sites, the video "was not intended for public distribution and may not accurately reflect features and functionality that ship in Forza Motorsport 4." The company's concern may lie in promising features that have yet to be finalized, such as 16-player online races, the contribution of over 80 automobile manufacturers and the introduction of social car clubs.

(One promoted feature we can rule out with ease, however, is the career mode that has you "literally" traveling the globe. Forza 4 isn't likely to include a bundle of plane tickets -- if it did, you'd have a cheap opportunity to swing by this year's semantics nazi convention.)

Considering the glossy, flattering nature of the video, and the presence of already-announced additions like Kinect head tracking, it's possible that April Fools' Day marked the start of a viral marketing campaign for Forza 4. Let's see how long this version of the video stays up, and whether Microsoft comes knocking on our door. A leaked internal Microsoft video allegedly provides some hints as to what the company's Windows Gaming eXperience (WGX) team is attempting to do. The video, dug up by ZDnet, showcases what appears to be several concepts that could cross between Windows, Xbox and mobile platforms. The video is PC-focused, but features Microsoft's Avatars moving around screens using Kinect functionality, while interacting with social games and media, along with the Avatar Marketplace.

A now-removed LinkedIn job posting reportedly described the function of the WGX Team as creating a "new world-class gaming platform" to define "the next generation of Windows and Web gaming to 300 million potential customers."

According to ZDnet, the video was dated May 2010 -- in this world of corporate ADD and division restructuring, take nothing of what you see in the clip as the gospel of Windows future according to Microsoft. Just remember how that whole Kinect object scanning video turned out, or didn't turn out ...
Continue reading Leaked 'Windows Gaming eXperience' vid shows cross-platform plans

Leaked 'Windows Gaming eXperience' vid shows cross-platform plans originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 21 Mar 2011 11:25:00 EST. You hate to see it happen: a game is on the verge of launching and those scurvy pirates manage to get their hands on an illegal copy or some leaked code. The latest affected is Crysis 2 -- a near-final build including multiplayer is currently floating around the most unsavory areas of the internet. There's a pretty heated discussion (and plenty of screenshots of evidence) over on Facepunch right now.

This latest problem couldn't have come at a worse time for Crysis 2. It's little over a month out and with all of the technical difficulties surrounding its multiplayer demo on Xbox 360 added into the mix, purchase intent and confidence in the upcoming shooter is likely on the decline.
Crysis 2 build including multiplayer reportedly leaked originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 12 Feb 2011 01:00:00 EST. Two full months before Nintendo officially releases its eye melting new handheld in Japan, reports of a Chinese factory worker stealing a unit from the production line have already begun to surface. 3DS Buzz spotted images allegedly snapped by one such factory worker showing off what appears to be a near-final 3DS from many, many angles.

Though an accompanying video shows Super Mario 64 DS being added to the cartridge slot, it seems that the unit is unable to run any retail games, only booting a black screen with the SDK version and memory information (96 steaming hot megabytes of RAM, for those wondering). That said, if you desperately needed to know how the 3DS will stack up next to your GameBoy Micro, visual comparisons to past Nintendo handhelds aren't in short supply here.
Neither Capcom nor Marvel has yet to announce an official comic tie-in for forthcoming fighting game collaboration Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but a posting on ComicArtFans.com indicates that just such a product is on the way. The images seemingly reveal both Galactus and Taskmaster (aka "that guy who looks like Skeletor") as appearing in the game -- we already had Taskmaster on our leaked list last month, and it's possible that Galactus (the planet eater) is a boss character.

The image gallery has since been removed, but Shoryuken has all the pertinent images hosted on its website.

Also, we know we're supposed to suspend disbelief with the whole superhero thing, but the idea of Chris Redfield challenging the Hulk with a shotgun seems even more comical than his tree-trunk biceps.

Update: The post above has been altered to reflect the anonymity of the images origins. Though it has been reported that comic artist Kevin Sharpe created the images, it is not clear that he did any of the work referred to above.
Over the weekend, a handful of tipsters sent Gran Turismo fansite GT Planet photos of what appeared to be retail versions of Gran Turismo 5. The photographic evidence began to pile up, and it seems that some gamer slash gearheads in Europe are already playing the game -- this is, of course, after the game was delayed to an unknown release date. Additionally, the game's entire Trophy list has been revealed, adding fuel to the fire.

At the very least, this confirms GT5 director Kazunori Yamauchi's statement about discs for the game already being in production, though it doesn't put us any closer to knowing when exactly the game will finally arrive at retail. Will GT5 follow the path of the Sega Saturn and simply become available "right now," whenever the publisher deems it so? It certainly seems possible as of this report. But then, we all know how well that went for Sega's game console.
Gran Turismo 5 retail discs spotted in Europe originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 15:40:00 EST. Joystiq reader Rob kindly forwarded us an email from Microsoft Game Studios about a private beta for a game called Full House Poker, described as a way to "bet your way to fame as you compete against your friends and thousands of other players around the world in live Texas Heat poker game shows." The concept sounds extremely like 1 vs. 100 with a coating of poker paint, allowing players to pick up XP and other rewards (including "unique tells and avatar accessories") by playing poker in "regularly scheduled episodes."

Sounds fun! The email also stresses that the beta is "highly confidential" (whoops), and that it requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription in the US, Canada, or Mexico. Note that those restrictions are only on the beta, and might not be on the full game. But the email says the game will be rated T for teen, thanks to "simulated gambling." 1 vs. 100 is unfortunately gone forever, but it looks like Full House Poker might be Microsoft's second foray into episode-based massively multiplayer gaming.
Microsoft sends out secret invites to 1 vs. 100-style 'Full House Poker' game originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 04 Nov 2010 20:15:00 EST.
