This deal took some careful planning, it appears, as Remedy previously extended the Steam collector's edition launch deal for an extra week while North American fans waited for a physical launch announcement.

Similarly to the Steam version, the boxed PC edition of Alan Wake includes two DLC packs, The Writer and The Signal, and supports stereoscopic 3D and multiple screens.
Continue reading Alan Wake busts into box form on April 3 in North America

Alan Wake busts into box form on April 3 in North America originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 11 Mar 2012 13:30:00 EST.
It's all right, you can admit it now. Your favorite game of 2010 wasn't Red Dead Redemption. No, don't cry in shame -- you're not alone. Apparently Murder, She Wrote was a good game. Yes, really. They're even making a sequel. Right, now stop hugging us. Please, this is getting creepy. You still have a pretty strange taste in games; it just turns out you're not (forever) alone.

Murder, She Wrote 2 will be available for download and in retail form in early 2012, Legacy Interactive announced. It also announced that the original Murder, She Wrote was a "best selling game," which, with the omission of a hyphen between "best" and "selling," negates the compound modifier and makes that statement completely defensible in grammar court. Someone, somewhere -- probably a person at Legacy Interactive HQ -- believes Murder, She Wrote was the "best" game that was also sold in 2010. We assume.

Murder, She Wrote 2 will feature more than 80 puzzles, three original cases and at least six hours of gameplay with crime-fiction writer Jessica Fletcher and her classic band of sleuths and sheriffs. Now seriously, stop hugging us, or we're calling the police. No, Mrs. Fletcher won't be one of them.
Murder, She Wrote the game apparently did OK, sequel in 2012 originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 20 Nov 2011 15:30:00 EST. We were going to write a whole post about the DS House M.D. trailer you'll find after the break (courtesy of GoNintendo) and how it kind of looks like a crummy Trauma Team. That said, we felt that the above actual screen capture from the trailer communicates everything you need to know about it perfectly.
Continue reading 'No one is immune from Dr. House's biting zingers!'

'No one is immune from Dr. House's biting zingers!' originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 06 May 2010 21:30:00 EST. CBS announced today that it's bringing a wide array of its TV programming to the video game world, mainly via the PC, Wii and DS. As you can see after the break, the company revealed equally insipid-sounding game versions of Survivor, Hollywood Squares, The Amazing Race, and Criminal Minds, but we don't see how we're supposed to care about any of it when it was also revealed that a Diagnosis Murder game is in the works.

We're assuming it's a Visceral-developed "dark" take on the DM mythos, with a Gothic Dr. Mark Sloan walking a demonic version of Los Angeles, solving murder mysteries with a caduceus-shaped staff dipped in angel blood. We assume this because we laid out the design doc pretty clearly in our letters, and we can't fathom why CBS would want to disappoint us.
Continue reading CBS bringing Diagnosis Murder, some other stuff to gaming platforms

CBS bringing Diagnosis Murder, some other stuff to gaming platforms originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 05:00:00 EST. Ghost Whisperer will be crossing over to video games in early 2010. Legacy Interactive will develop Ghost Whisperer: Shadowlands, a game that combines "light adventure and hidden object-style game play." It will include 30 environments and five "enthralling stories," penned by TV writer Lance Gentile. Apparently, the object of the game will be to fulfill Melinda Gordon's role as the afterlife's turnstile.

There doesn't appear to be any confirmation that Jennifer Love Hewitt will provide her voice to the role. It also seems -- WARNING: Total nerd and spoiler moment incoming -- that the game will take place before last season's events, as Melinda's apparently trying to live a normal life with her "paramedic husband, Jim." Yeah, good luck with that.

[Via Big Download]
Ghost Whisperer game earthbound in early 2010 originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 09:45:00 EST. The hidden-object game will feature five all-new mysteries, and will include both the classic Cabot Cave locale and "well-loved characters from the show" including Dr. Seth Hazlitt, Sheriff Mort Metzger, and, of course, crime-solving novelist and potential distant relative Jessica Fletcher.

Slightly more timely is Legacy's announcement of PC and DS games based on the House M.D. license. In this game, players will control the members of Dr. House's diagnostic team, including House himself, in five different cases. According to Legacy, the game will involve diagnosing and treating patients with rare diseases. It is unknown whether this process will involve breaking into their houses, as it always does on the show.

[Via Big Download]
As Seen on TV: Murder, She Wrote and House M.D. games announced originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 10 Jun 2009 06:00:00 EST. Sure, we could all do with attack lasers, or our own printers (for money), but these are just needless luxuries. DS fans are pretty well set up. But even if there was a long list, the longest of lists, of possible games and ideas for the DS, a game based on the movie Clueless wouldn't be anywhere near the list. They wouldn't even be on the same continent.

But this isn't a question of good ideas and bad ideas. As if. It's a question of <strike>easy money</strike> <strike>shovelware</strike> "expanding the core casual gaming audience," and what better way to do that than to release a game based on a movie that's more than a decade old? It's brilliant, as is the game, which charges players with matching up potential love interests based on totally important factors, like their clothing.

Clueless, from Paramount Digital Entertainment, is slated for the DS -- and the PC -- late this year, along with PC titles based on Pretty in Pink and Mean Girls.
Paramount is completely Clueless originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 11:45:00 EST.
