PSA: Amazon video game Gold Box Event coming Tuesday

Like a stealthy jungle cat patiently waiting for its tired, limping prey to drop its guard, so too does Amazon's devious sales engine stalk the emaciated husk of our post-December wallet. Its latest attempt at snaring our monetary entrails, an all-games Gold Box Event, will begin at 3 a.m. Eastern time on the morning of Tuesday, February 19.

We won't know exactly what said Gold Box Event's Lightning Deals or Deal of the Day will consist of until Tuesday. In the meantime, Amazon has also marked down a sizable number of games and accessories as part of its Winter Deals sale, which includes Halo 4 and a year of Xbox Live Gold for about $40 each.

Amazon Lightning Deals thunder through Thanksgiving Day

Remember when we said Amazon would have a bunch of awesome lightning deals on Black Friday? Turns out that starts now, making this an action-packed Turkey Day in the states.

Amazon lightning deals include Army Corps of Hell, Old Republic savings

Amazon is once again filling its "Gold Box" with game-themed "Lightning Deals," two things that don't sound like they'd go together at all.

In practice, however, it means you can get The Old Republic for $40 all day, and a series of other deals throughout the day, hints for which can be found after the break. Right now, through 11am EST (or until supply runs out), you can get Army Corps of Hell for $30.

Outside of the Lightning Deals, you can also save on a large assortment of PC download games -- including the new Darkness II for $25.

Deals on fitness, Modern Warfare 3, Dead Island on Amazon today

Amazon has a load of deals on games lined up for today. First up, Dead Island is the deal of the day and will no doubt quickly shamble off the shelves at only $25. Today's Lightning Deals are all game-themed as well, with the current deal being LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean on the DS for $15. As of this writing, the deal has about an hour to go.

If urgency isn't your thing, you can pick up the Deal of the Day any old time today. There is a slight penalty for your choice of lower-stress shopping, and it's that the Deal of the Day is Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

S.A.V.3. on games all day with Amazon Lightning Deals

Amazon has dropped a selection of Lightning Deals on us, and while we can't be 100% sure of the identities of all the mystery deals (and less sure of the prices) it looks like there's enough stuff in there that you'll want to keep an Amazon window open, and an alarm clock set.

Right now, F.E.A.R. 3 is $20 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Upcoming discounts include GTA IV, Mortal Kombat, and what is likely No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise. To round out the deal while flattening your tummy, the ongoing Deal of the Day is Zumba Fitness for Wii or Xbox 360.

Amazon has some some smokin'-hot goodies up for grabs this afternoon, including what appears to be the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Collector's Edition. Left 4 Dead 2 for $35 today, lightning game deals on Amazon

We may not have been huge fans of Left 4 Dead 2 (except for Xav!), but you might be tempted to try it for yourself through Amazon today where you can pick up this Deal of the Day for just $35 on Xbox 360 or $28 on PC.

Additionally, Amazon's Gold Box is featuring video game Lightning Deals throughout the day. Currently, the standard edition of Fallout 3 is going fast (for $18), but seven more deals are queued up. We only have hints as to what they'll be -- the next one sounds a heckuva lot like Assassin's Creed II [update: it is -- for $38.98] -- but if "the original zombie killing hit" teased for 5PM ET today doesn't turn out to be the Amiga/DOS classic Horror Zombies from the Crypt, somebody's getting sued for false advertising.

Everyone's favorite Amazonian retailer (after leafcladmailorderbrides.com, of course) has revealed a handful of hints for its pre-Black Friday selection of "Lightning Deals." Starting today at 9AM PST, Amazon will be offering games ranging from ... well, we don't really know, now do we? CheapAssGamer believes the first hint to indicate New Play Control Pikmin.
