Fret not, ye who have mastered all of the licks and diddies found in Ubisoft's Rocksmith: DLC is incoming. Today, Ubisoft has announced that select Radiohead, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Keys jams are available for download today.

It's mostly what you'd expect -- well, in the case of Lynyrd Skynyrd, anyway: "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Body Snatchers" by Radiohead and "Tighten Up" by The Black Keys are available for 240 MS Points ($3) or $2.99 on PlayStation Network each. On November 15, the Rock Hits 1970's Pack makes available Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water," Boston's "More Than a Feeling" and The Allman Brothers Band's "Jessica," all of which will follow the same pricing scheme.

Ubisoft promises "new music packs will be released on a regular basis." So, every two weeks then?
Continue reading Rocksmith adds Radiohead, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Black Keys; more DLC coming Nov. 15

Rocksmith adds Radiohead, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Black Keys; more DLC coming Nov. 15 originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 01 Nov 2011 23:30:00 EST. So, next week's Rock Band DLC will include a Lynyrd Skynyrd track pack. Now, fun fact: Every time Lynyrd Skynyrd was typed in this post, I had to look up how it was spelled, out of some paranoid compulsion that I'd spelled it wrong. I wonder if "Lynyrd Skynyrd" is the music writer's version of the game industry's classic spell-anoia name: EA CEO John R-I-C-C-I-T-I-E-L-L-O.

Accompanying the "Sweet Home Alabama" band, who apparently formed in Florida, are singles from .38 Special and Bad Company. The full DLC track details are posted after the break.
Continue reading Rock Band Weekly: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, .38 Special

Rock Band Weekly: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, .38 Special originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 24 Nov 2010 12:25:00 EST. It's the beginning of the month, which means it's time to run down the list of Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero DLC. In May, we're getting three separate track packs -- the last week of the month seems to be void of anything new, for some reason.

Like alternative pop ensembles like Snow Patrol and Alpha Rev? How about classic rock troupes such as Steve Miller Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd? How about Love in an Elevator? No, we mean the Aerosmith song, not that time you were trapped and -- forget we said anything.

Head past the break for the full list of DLC for May.
Continue reading Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero: May DLC

Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero: May DLC originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 04 May 2010 13:00:00 EST. We're sending out an SOS to the world to try and stop us from downloading the tracks in next week's Rock Band update. We fear that $5.50 has already jumped out of our wallets, run over to the console and is attempting to push itself inside as a willing sacrifice for Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Police.

Classic Rock pack (440 Microsoft Points / $5.50)

You gotta pay for old rock! Prices go back to 160 MS points ($2) this week as the rock is aged a little more finely compared to the modern selection from last week. The exploration of the RBDLC (Rock Band downloadable content) void continues as there's still no road map of Rock Band's DLC for the future. This week's tracks give us a little '70s with Lynyrd Skynyrd (Leh-Nerd Skin-nerd) and early '80s with Rush. The most iffy selection for nit-picky music geeks is probably the Black Crowes' version of you-know-it-when-you-hear-it song Hard to Handle. Some people prefer the Grateful Dead version, and for those who like letting their soul out when they sing, there's also the Otis Redding version. Songs below will also be part of a DLC double-dose this Thursday on the PlayStation Network, which includes last week's songs not added due to the holiday.

Individual songs
