"I can't comment on our project, but all I can say is that the projects we've been working on for the last two years and the one we recently started up in NY are sailing along like never before," said Avalanche Studios founder Christofer Sundberg in <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-02-ex-god-of-war-director-joins-tomb-raider-developer">a statement to Eurogamer</a>.<br /><br />This either means that <em>Mad Max</em> is continuing without Barlog at Avalanche Studios, or that it was never there to begin with. Mad Max's George Miller is playing host to the artists behind <em>L.A. Noire</em>, Team Bondi, as the developer faces a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/former-team-bondi-employees-dish-on-l-a-noires-troubled-develo/">tortured reputation</a>, burned bridges with Rockstar and is in need of fresh studio support, according to sources at <a href="http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/08/rumour-team-bondi-to-be-absorbed-into-george-millers-kmm-studio-in-sydney/">Kotaku</a>. Team Bondi bossman Brendan McNamara has been spotted touring Miller's KMM Studio in Sydney, including a stop at Dr. D, the animation shop currently finishing <em>Happy Feet 2</em>, one person said.<br />
<br />
A few former Team Bondi employees -- the same ones who reported terrible work conditions under McNamara -- work at Dr. D and found it unsettling that McNamara was touring the offices, the source said. Apparently Miller is a fan of Team Bondi's work and is sympathetic to McNamara's reputation as a strict taskmaster, according to one employee at Dr. D: "The word is going 'round that Team Bondi is being folded into KMM studios; Team Bondi is pretty much doomed after the scandal and can't find any new supporters, so by doing this they can hide their name."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/06/rumor-team-bondi-to-be-acquired-by-mad-max-studio-kmm/">Rumor: Team Bondi to be acquired by Mad Max studio, KMM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Aug 2011 13:00:00 EST. <em>God of War 2</em> director Cory Barlog is likely working on the <em>Mad Max</em> game (a supposed tie-in with the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392190/">2012 movie sequel</a>) at <em>Just Cause</em> developer Avalanche Studios. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-23-gowii-dev-working-with-just-cause-dev">Eurogamer</a> reports Avalanche Studios' founder Christofer Sundberg told the site, "I can't comment on the projects we are working on, but Cory is working here with us in Stockholm."<br />
<br />
We've known Barlog had been working on a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/cory-barlog-working-on-mad-max-game-with-george-miller/"><em>Mad Max</em> game since 2008</a>, with production reportedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/08/mad-max-game-adaptation-still-a-couple-of-years-away/">still going on last year</a> -- we just never knew exactly <em>where</em> he was making the game.<br />
<br />
The studio's Avalanche Engine would actually be fantastic for driving an enormous, lush <em>Mad Max</em> game -- well, if "lush" existed in the <em>Mad Max</em> vocabulary. The engine certainly proved its graphical power in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/just-cause-2"><em>Just Cause 2</em></a>. Now, if Barlog could only help deliver a cohesive concept, instead of just an <em>empty</em> sandbox, that could be a truly beautiful thing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/23/report-mad-max-game-at-avalanche-studios/">Report: Mad Max game at Avalanche Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Sep 2010 16:00:00 EST. If you've long harbored dreams of motoring monstrous automobiles down long stretches of highway in post-apocalyptic Australia, they probably won't be coming to fruition any time soon. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/cory-barlog-working-on-mad-max-game-with-george-miller/"><em>Mad Max</em></a> director George Miller, in an interview with MTV Multiplayer, confirmed that while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/work-on-mad-max-continues-game-still-a-ways-off/">preliminary work</a> on a video game adaptation of his Gibson-infused vehicular thriller has begun, the finished title <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/03/06/mad-max-director-games-surpassing-films-in-storytelling-potential/1">is still "a couple of years away."</a><br />
<br />
Miller, a self-professed unskilled gamer, says he sees real potential in making such an adaptation, and in the gaming medium as a whole. He sees the <em>Mad Max </em>game, which he's working on in collaboration with <em>God of War II</em> director Cory Barlog, as "an opportunity to make a novel," noting the evolution of storytelling in games in recent years. We appreciate rich stories in games as much as the next guy, but we hope Miller realizes he also has the "opportunity" to make a <em>badass </em>action game as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/08/mad-max-game-adaptation-still-a-couple-of-years-away/">Mad Max game adaptation still 'a couple of years' away</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Mar 2009 12:01:00 EST. It's been seven long months since we last <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/cory-barlog-working-on-mad-max-game-with-george-miller/">heard an update</a> on Cory Barlog's video game adaptation of <em>Mad Max</em>. Now Barlog, best known for his work on a little thing we like to call <em>God of War II</em>, has posted an update on the project to his blog, though whether or not he had to saw through his own foot to get to the keyboard remains something of a mystery.<br />
<br />
Barlog's work on the game's story with <em>Mad Max</em> film producer, George Miller, appears nearly done, the pair having "put the final touches on the <em>Mad Max</em> story and game design structure and mechanics." However, Barlog adds that they're "working with some publishers to get a deal locked down so we can start making this bad boy," so don't go expecting to hunt gangs across the dystopian Australian highways anytime soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/work-on-mad-max-continues-game-still-a-ways-off/">Work on Mad Max continues, game still a ways off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Oct 2008 20:00:00 EST. But even in our nerdiest fantasies we hadn't let our hearts dream of something this sweet: Barlog and Miller are toiling on a <em>Mad Max </em>action-adventure game, based on <em>Mad Max: Fury Road, </em>an entry in the film series put on hold in 2003 by the Iraq war.<br />
<br />
It's in the early stages right now, but expect "melee weapons, projectile weapons and vehicles." Oh, and no Mel Gibson, surprising no one. Even though we don't know much, what more do you need to know? Mad Max. George Miller. Cory Barlog. Two men enter! One game leaves!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/cory-barlog-working-on-mad-max-game-with-george-miller/">Cory Barlog working on 'Mad Max' game with George Miller</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 07:30:00 EST. (As N'Gai Croal notes, the "Justice League" headline is a just a cute pun and not some project hint.) <br />
<br />
The collaboration is said to be for multiple projects, although no specifics have been revealed -- our hopes are for a <em>Happy Feet </em>MMO. Croal said more details will be coming tomorrow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/god-of-war-iis-cory-barlog-teams-with-mad-max-filmmaker-georg/">God of War II's Cory Barlog teams with 'Mad Max' filmmaker George Miller</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 14:00:00 EST.
