Through another partnership with Maxim, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-judgment"><em>Gears of War: Judgment</em></a> will offer a free OverRun-compatible map to all players next week, May 15, called Dreadnought. This new map is set on a derelict ship, used by the COG at the outset of the war to transport captured Berserkers. <br />
<br />
This is the second free piece of DLC sponsored by Maxim. The first free map, Haven, arrived on April 2, when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/gears-of-war-judgment-execution-mode-haven-map-free-after-laun/">Execution mode was introduced</a> to <em>Gears of War: Judgment</em>. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/10/gears-of-war-judgment-gets-free-overrun-map-may-15/">Gears of War: Judgment gets free OverRun map May 15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 May 2013 16:45:00 EST. Lead level designer Jim Brown says "nowhere is really safe" in Haven. "It makes for especially hectic Domination games because the rings are easy to access and difficult to defend."<br /><br />Execution mode has players attempt to kill every member of the opposing team before time runs out, though unless hit with a one-shot-kill weapon (see: Booshka) or a follow-up execution move, enemies will enter a "Down But Not Out" state, where they will revive after a period of time. Gotta get that doubletap.<br /><br />Oh, and both of these pieces of DLC are sponsored by <a href="http://www.maxim.com/gaming/maxim-s-gears-of-war-maps-revealed">Maxim</a>, for some reason.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/gears-of-war-judgment-execution-mode-haven-map-free-after-laun/">Gears of War: Judgment's Execution mode, Haven map free after launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Feb 2013 16:45:00 EST. Today sees the US launch of Maxim and CNET apps, with the latter also coming to Canada, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/20/karaoke-streams-sing-along-songs-on-xbox-live-pay-per-hour/">Karaoke</a> and SkyDrive apps roll out worldwide (excluding Japan and United Arab Emirates for Karaoke).<br /><br />As shown above, SkyDrive lets you view pictures and videos stored on your Microsoft cloud, allowing Jenny to guffaw at memories of her sister's apparently hilarious wedding dress by watching the recording on her TV. Aww.<br /><br />Other Xbox 360 apps cropping up across the globe today include VEVO expanding to Spain, Italy, and France, and CinemaNow hopping over to Canada. Xbox spokesoldier Major Nelson also <a href="http://majornelson.com/2012/12/11/over-40-new-apps-coming-to-xbox-new-apps-launch-on-xbox-live-this-week/">detailed</a> a list of over 40 apps coming to various regions before spring 2013, including MTV, PBS, Flixster, and Vimeo apps for the US.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/11/xbox-live-adding-skydrive-cnet-maxim-karaoke-apps-in-n-ameri/">Xbox Live adding SkyDrive, CNET, Maxim, Karaoke apps in US today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2012 14:00:00 EST. The young lady, Andrea Bonaccorso, walks away (slowly, considering she has guns for shoes) with an Xbox 360, a copy of the game and a 50-inch Panasonic TC-P50X1 HDTV Plasma TV. She'll also appear on Maxim.com, in a sensible, dignified outfit, we're sure.</div>
<br />
So how did she qualify for such an honor? This is really what it says in the press release: "While some entrants perfectly mirrored the outfit of the character and others simply donned librarian glasses, Andrea married both elements to come out on top."<br />
<br />
So, there you have it. We're rewarding this girl for wearing both clothes <em>and</em> glasses. <br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Joystiq and Joystiq.com selected a loser in Sega and Maxim.com's Bayonetta Model Search and it's <em>all of us.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/sega-picks-americas-next-top-bayonetta-model-in-maxim-competiti/">Sega picks America's next top Bayonetta model in Maxim competition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Nov 2009 13:30:00 EST. Had we been consulted, we would have told the parties responsible that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/heres-your-new-issue-of-egm-its-called-maxim/">fulfilling subscriptions</a> of the now-defunct <em>EGM</em> with the dumb man's Playboy (<em>Maxim</em>) was a pretty crummy idea. Now we've got some evidence of that courtesy of Kathleen O'Donnell, who's none too happy that her 12-year-old Jake has received two issues of <em>Maxim</em>, despite her requests that it stop. "When I saw it, I didn't think it was a magazine my son should be looking at," she told CBS affiliate <a href="http://wbztv.com/curious/maxim.magazine.subscription.2.1116836.html">WBZ</a>.<br /><br />It's a cruddy situation all around, but we'd like to give a small protip to young Jake: If someone starts sending you pictures of half-naked ladies, <em>keep that to yourself</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93769-12-Year-Old-Gets-Maxim-Mag-Mom-Not-Happy">The Escapist</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/preteens-mom-ticked-about-maxim-egm-swap/">Preteen's mom ticked about Maxim/EGM swap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Aug 2009 19:00:00 EST. While some folks wait to subscribe to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/egm-sold-to-original-founder-resuming-publication-this-year/">reanimated <em>EGM</em> later this year</a>, those who currently have a subscription to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/official-ugo-buys-1up-egm-dead/">deceased periodical</a> have begun receiving their replacement magazine: <em>Maxim</em>. Yes, the mag that controversially scored <em>50 Cent: Blood on the Sand</em> <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/oh-snap-maxim-scores-50-cent-2-higher-than-killzone-2-sfiv/"><em>higher</em></a> than <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2"><em>Killzone 2</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> is clearly the right replacement for the demographic.<br /><br />A note on the issue of Maxim arriving in mailboxes states that the balance of customers' paid EGM subscription will be fulfilled by the <strike>engorging</strike> engaging mag. Have fun, boys! And, um, sorry to any of those female subscribers. We're sure you'll love all those <em>articles</em> Maxim is famous for.<br /><br />[Thanks, Dan]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/heres-your-new-issue-of-egm-its-called-maxim/">Here's your new issue of EGM! Read this, know this, feel it in your <em>bones</em>: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/50-cent-blood-on-the-sand"><em>50 Cent: Blood on the Sand</em></a> has been <a href="http://forums.gametrailers.com/?do=show_thread&amp;id=579968">scored higher</a> than both <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2">Killzone 2</a> and</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. This comes as GameTrailers member G00se has posted scans of the latest issue, in which <em>50 Cent</em> is given a 4/5, <em>Killzone 2</em> a 3.5/5 and <em>Street Fighter IV</em> a 3/5. <em>Maxim </em>calls <em>50 Cent</em> "a wanksta proof gem," noting its new Fiddy songs, co-op play and "a story that is <em>Indiana Jones</em> meets <em>Scarface</em>." <em>Killzone 2</em> -- which the magazine refers to as <em>Kill Zone 2</em> -- is labeled "the hottest girl at the ball, if not quite the best dancer." And <em>SFIV</em>? <em>Maxim</em> notes that "it takes the series to 3D" -- even though that actually happened <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_EX">ages ago</a> -- but "loses a fistful of its old-school soul."<br /><br />We can't think of any possible way to expand upon this. No, really, that's all we got.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/50-cent-game-better-than-killzone-2-and-street-fighter-iv-says-ma/">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/oh-snap-maxim-scores-50-cent-2-higher-than-killzone-2-sfiv/">Oh snap: Maxim scores 50 Cent 2 higher than Killzone 2, SFIV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:15:00 EST. In it, the reviews crew reveals that the new <em>50 Cent</em> game barely outdoes <em>Killzone 2</em>. Sony's upcoming FPS is "the hottest girl at the ball," but that can't compare to "a Wanksta-proof gem." <em>Street Fighter IV</em> also falters, lacking "old-school soul."<br />

Epic Games has put together a little video for <a href="http://www.maxim.com/New-Gears-of-War-2-Documentary-Marcus-Fenix-=-Capn-Crunch/BFG/blogs/2479/41040.aspx">Maxim</a> about the audio in <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Gears of War 2</span></a>. Snore-worthy, right? Nope. It's actually a fun little six-minute romp showcasing the work that goes into all the little sounds we'll hear in the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/gears-of-war-2-to-be-released-november-7-2008/">releasing Nov. 7</a>. <br /><br />An interesting factoid is that 85% of the audio in the game is new, according to Audio Director Mike Larson. There's also a brief interview with the game's composer, Steve Jablonsky, who did the music for <span style="font-style: italic;">Command &amp; Conquer 3</span> and the <span style="font-style: italic;">Transformers</span> movie. Check it out after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/video-gears-of-war-2-sound-choices-meaty-vs-crunchy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Gears of War 2 sound choices: Meaty vs. Crunchy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/video-gears-of-war-2-sound-choices-meaty-vs-crunchy/">Video: Gears of War 2 sound choices: Meaty vs. Crunchy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 11:40:00 EST. According to the product pitch (discovered by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2007/11/29/maxim-pinball%e2%80%a6-almost-a-reality-for-the-psp/">Siliconera</a>), "<em>MAXIM PINBALL</em> for the Sony PSP[TM] is a pick-up-and-play pinball title featuring the kind of content expected from any product bearing the Maxim name: babes, sports, gadgets, fantasies ... whatever fits the lifestyle interests of today's young adult male."<br /><br />The studio is currently looking for a publisher and thinks the game will resonate quite well with the PSP audience. "<em>Maxim Pinball</em> provides a compelling experience that is sure to appeal to the PSP's[TM] core demographic: males age 18-34." It's true... they say that sex sells, and the people behind <em>Tekken</em> know it. For a Maxim photo shoot, they had some models dress up (or down) as <em>Tekken</em> models. Taking some inspiration from <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2006/06/22/naughty-faceplates/"><em>Dead or Alive</em></a>, the photographers then placed those models under running water. The following video won't disappoint you... unless you're at work and your boss realizes what kind of pevert you are. So, I'm giving this an <strong style="text-decoration: underline;">EXTREMELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK</strong> notice<strong>.</strong> Enjoy!<br /><br />[<strong>Update 2:</strong> New PSP-compatible video <strike>and newly hosted video</strike> after the cut.
