In a "Scorpion" feature (read: "Ask the Band") on the band's website, a couple of fans posed the "What about a Guitar Hero game?" question, to which the lead singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine replied: "I have recently had two very important high-level meetings with the people from Activision and Neversoft, and we are talking about a lot of things."

He only clarifies a teensy bit, saying a Guitar Hero: Megadeth game "is not attractive" to him and that the Guitar Hero developers have instead offered up a "new idea." Mustaine also laments past legal run-ins, and hopes that no one "stand[s] in the way of this happening." We've contacted Megadeth as well as Activision for more information on the subject, and will be rocking as hard as possible while we wait for a reply. Oh, and yes, we suppose we'll tell you if we hear more.

Anyone see Kanye in the house? Phew. Moving on: This week's -- uninterrupted -- Rock Band Weekly announcement is headlined by Pearl Jam's Backspacer album. The new tracks will appear on Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 on September 20, 22 and 24, respectively. Also, a special edition of the Backspacer album at Target stores, which releases September 20, will have a code to download the album onto Xbox 360 and PS3. (Remember, it's only the "special edition" that'll have the code.)

For all of you Rock Band enthusiasts out there, some news has traveled down the pipe courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, confirming several new albums for download in the game. We're not going to waste any time leading up to the juicy info, so catch it below:

Chris over at Gearheads of War posted a YouTube link of Megadeth's performance of their new Gears of War song from the Six Flags gaming session a few days back. I don't believe this is a video of the entire song and of course it's YouTube quality, but I can't make out a word of it. Actually, it sounds like a lot of electric guitar and screaming... but maybe that kind of music tickles your fancy. Anyway, it's Sunday and you're bored so go check out the vid already.
