We've all been there: The animation tells us that the Mega Buster is as charged as charged Mega Busters get, but that robotic abomination needs to die <em>so much</em> that we keep on chargin', sometimes for two or three whole minutes. It never works, mind you, but Dorkly knows what we're hoping for.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/12/this-is-what-happens-when-mega-man-charges-up-forever/">This is what happens when Mega Man charges up forever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Sep 2011 00:15:00 EST. We've got something for everyone, including some piping-hot screens from the screenshot oven (screens are always <em>baked</em><em>, </em>you know), concept art and even a pair of new gameplay trailers. If you've ever wanted to witness a robotic girl pummel someone with a broom, well, head past the break and <em>soak it all in</em>.<br />

In fact, when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/23/wii-fanboy-review-mega-man-9/"><em>Mega Man </em>9</a> was announced, we ran around picking up random telephones looking for a way out of what we thought was surely The Matrix. Seriously, how could something <em>so good</em> happen to us? It seemed like a dream. And now, this trailer for a fan-made <em>Mega Man</em> movie by Eddie Lebron is along those lines. It's like the guy broke into our <strike>office</strike> windowless prison cell and picked the small lock we have on our diary. Then, he <em>read that diary</em>. <br /><br />But, in all seriousness, what is the deal with Dr. Wily's 'stache? That thing looks <em>rabid</em> and might need to be <em>put down</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/you-have-to-watch-the-mega-man-movie-trailer/">Joystiq</a>]<br /><br />

<div align="left">Having trouble with the retro throwback title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a>? The blue-bomber's latest outing has more than a few gamers frustrated with its old-school difficulty. Fortunately, <a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/f/mega-man-9-complete-video-guide/a-2008092394639934042">GamesRadar</a> has you covered. They've created a video walk-through of each stage, beginning with Splash Woman all the way through to the bitter end with Dr. Wily. Some gamers consider the order you fight the Robot Masters to be spoilers, so we took the liberty of blocking out the order in the above picture. The videos, which are after the jump, ask you for your age before you are allowed to view them, but there is no inappropriate content in them.<br /> </div>

With over 40 games in these series alone, one thing is obvious: there's a lot of Mega Man out there. The diminutive blue-clad hero has shown up on an impressive number of platforms in the past two decades, and often one game led to another, and another, and another, eventually spawning a whole bucketload of sequels. However, when Mega Man took a turn into the third dimension, the predictable half-dozen follow-up installments never materialized.<br /><br />In 1997, Capcom took Mega Man in a radically new direction with <em>Mega Man Legends</em>, a 3D action-RPG for the Sony Playstation (and the N64 under the moniker <em>Mega Man 64</em>). It's an all-new Mega Man sporting a familiar look, but the gameplay is significantly different -- dungeon exploration, item creation, and weapon upgrading are just some of the RPG staples present in <em>Mega Man Legends</em>. Despite its differences from classic <em>Mega Man</em>, Legends is a fun game that succeeds in shaking up the formula. And with the last game in the <em>Mega Man Legends</em> spinoff now eight years old, this particular Rockman is destined to be Re<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/born-for-wii/">born for Wii</a>.<br />

Sorry, you're out of luck. Mega Man seems to have lost those abilities in his transition back to the NES era (even though he had those abilities from <em>Mega Man 3</em> onwards, which was a NES title). There may still be a chance, though. GamesRadar is reporting that Proto Man will be a downloadable character and will have both of these abilities. You'd better get your nickels and dimes ready, though, because he's not going to be free.<br /></div>
<br />He should be arriving on the US PSN store during the week of October 6th and will cost you $1.99. Think of him as an "easy mode." From <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/ps3-fanboy-hands-on-mega-man-9/">what we've played</a> of <em>Mega Man 9</em>, by October 6th, you'll be <em>screaming</em> for an easy mode.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/22/proto-man-playable-in-mega-man-9-for-a-price/">Proto Man playable in Mega Man 9 ... for a price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 12:00:00 EST. <li><em>Mega Man 2</em> (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Capcom's diminutive Blue Bomber returns alongside an assortment of vehicles and weapons in order to battle the likes of an anthropomorphic Zippo lighter, no doubt in an effort to get back into shape for his upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9">ninth attempt</a> at putting Dr. Wily in his place.</li>

    <li><em>Mega Man</em> (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): With the Blue Bomber set to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9">don pixelated pajamas next month</a>, his freshman adventure marks this week's most noteworthy addition to the Wii's window into the past. Assuming you haven't bought the original <em>Mega Man</em> in one of Capcom's many other compilations, Guts Man and company are waiting ever so patiently for you to drop by. </li>

Capcom's going out of its way to make sure its deliciously stale <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a> offers a true 8-bit experience, bugs and all. The company's Hironobu Takeshita recently told <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3752/he_is_8bit_capcoms_hironobu_.php">Gamasutra</a> that the download will have the look and feel of a NES-era release, and that things such as sprite flicker have even been included as a -- thankfully optional -- feature. <br /><br />"Yeah, there were some things, like you couldn't have more than three enemies on the screen at once, so we had to make sure that that's how it stayed in our game. In the part with the dragon with the flame, [there should be] flickering, and whatnot," noted the game's producer. "In the options of this game, you can adjust that, unlike the old games. We purposely put some of those old-school bugs into this game, so it does recreate that feel." Now, if only Capcom could emulate blowing into the cartridge we'd be in retro heaven.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/">Mega Man 9 (WiiWare, PSN, XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/#1107769"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/special000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/#1107770"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/special001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/#1107771"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/special003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/#1107772"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/special004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-9-wiiware-psn-xbla/#1107773"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/special002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/05/mega-man-9-getting-intentional-bugs-flicker/">Mega Man 9 getting intentional bugs, flicker</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Aug 2008 00:30:00 EST. Look familiar? Those of who were alive at the time the original Mega Man came out might remember this particular <a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ea/MegamanBox.jpg">cover</a>. See the resemblance? We doubt the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9">Mega Man 9</a></em> artwork above invoke anything but nonchalance from gamers -- you either love it or hate it. <br /><br />In celebration of Mega Man going backwards in time, Capcom got <a href="http://www.iam8bit.net/">I Am 8-bit</a> artist <a href="http://www.geralddejesus.com/home.html">Gerald de Jesus</a> to create a cover for the blue bomber's upcoming outing. Fortunately, the game will be distributed digitally, so the cover will never see the light of day. That is, unless you plan to buy one of the t-shirts Capcom will be releasing shortly for sale. Nothing says "chick magnet" better than this, baby!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/capcom-to-sell-intentionally-awful-mega-man-9-shirts/">Joystiq</a>]<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/mega-man-9-t-shirt-will-elicit-a-reaction/">Mega Man 9 t-shirt will elicit a reaction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 10:30:00 EST. We're trying to think of words to describe how we felt when we saw the<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/mega-man-9-in-japan-this-september/">Mega Man 9</a></em> screens at Games Radar, but there's just <em>too much</em> emotion to articulate. As if <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/rumor-wiiware-gets-equipped-with-mega-man-9/">the scans</a> weren't legendary enough with their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/in-the-year-of-20xx-a-super-gallery-of-mega-man-was-created/">retro</a>, 8-bit goodness, the screens just make us downright <em>giddy</em>. There's not much else to say, except that we're <em>so in love</em> with Capcom right now.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/wii/mega-man-9-wiiware/preview/mega-man-9-exclusive-reveal/a-20080702154756565049/g-20080626165055938021">Games Radar</a> has some delightful details on the game, too, which just add some extra oomph to an already oomph-tastic game. For one, beloved <em>Mega Man</em> designer Keiji Inafune was especially involved in the making of <em>Mega Man 9</em>, even creating the bosses this time around. As for the story, it still revolves around our favorite villain Dr. Wily, but this time he has the public on his side, convincing them that Dr. Light is the bad guy. Silly public.<br /><br />That's not all, though -- according to Games Radar, this game is <em>hard</em>. Not <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/29/the-trials-and-tribulations-of-dr-wily/"><em>this</em></a> hard, but still difficult. We say, <em>bring it</em>. You know what else it has? A lot of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/midi-art-game-songs-3/">music from</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/mega-man-scarf-is-mega-sweet/"><em>Mega Man 2</em></a>, also known as <em>one of the best video game soundtracks of all time</em>.<br /><br />Lastly (but not least), Games Radar has the skinny on <em>Mega Man 9's</em> bosses, including one that's a <em>woman </em>robot named Splash Woman. Others include Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Hornet Man, Tornado Man, Concrete Man, Maga Man, and Plug Man. Man alive, that's a lot of mans.<br /><br />Now you can stop reading and look at the screens (just click on the "Source" link or post image, as per usual). You might want to have some tissues handy, because they may just bring tears of joy to your eyes.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324820">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/mega-man-9-looks-great-sounds-great-did-we-mention-looks-great/">Mega Man 9 looks great, sounds great, did we mention looks great?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 15:30:00 EST. But you can put a date on it -- at least if you happen to live in Japan. Our friends at Nintendo Wii Fanboy send word that according to <em>Famitsu</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Mega-Man-9/"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a> will bound onto the Japanese WiiWare service sometime in September.<br /><br />This gives us hope that the company's irresistibly retro take on the Blue Bomber will soon be released in other regions as well. However, Capcom remains mum regarding its agenda, leaving us to wait until E3 to find out more about its plans for the pixilated hero's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/rumor-mega-man-9-coming-to-xbla-psn-too/">WiiWare-only</a> digital launch outside of Japan. There are so many of them that you can probably just look at the screens in a slideshow and call it a day, saving yourself the $29.99. Of course, that just takes all the fun out of it.<br /><br />As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/mega-man-star-force-2-forces-details-upon-us/">you may recall</a>, there are two different versions of the game: <em>Zerker x Ninja </em>and <em>Zerker x Saurian</em>. We began to lose track of games featuring Capcom's iconic blue bomber when they began adding arbitrary letters and words to each sequel -- that's why we were overjoyed to hear that <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54268">Capcom recently registered <em>Mega Man 9</em></a> with the Office of Film and Literature Classification (Australia's ESRB). That's right, just <em>Mega Man 9</em> -- not <em>Mega Man Zero 9</em>, <em>Mega Man X9</em>, <em>Mega Man 9 ZX</em>, or <em>Mega Man 9 2: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d06xH_DoTpY">Electric Boogaloo</a></em>. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sTitle=mega+man+9&amp;sMediaFilm=1&amp;sMediaPublications=1&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=6&amp;sDateToY=2008&amp;record=228120">The OFLC entry has the game slated</a> for a multiplatform release, though the <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/rumortoid-mega-man-9-in-the-works-spacecat-tells-all-90027.phtml">most insubstantial of rumors</a> hint that Rockman's new adventure will take place on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. We usually scoff at unattributed gossip, but with vivid visions of online multi-man robot slaying dancing through our heads, our powerful scoffin' muscles feel a tad bit atrophied.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/14/capcom-registers-multiplatform-mega-man-9-with-oflc/">Capcom registers 'multiplatform' Mega Man 9 with OFLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 14 Jun 2008 11:30:00 EST. <div align="left">We love playing <em>Mega Man</em> games, especially on our DSes (both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/its-official-mega-man-is-the-most-milked-series-ever/">officially</a> <em>and</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-fanboy-recommends-homebrew-programs/821327/">unofficially</a>). Awesome skits like this just make us yearn even more for a classic Blue Bomber title, though, as the original Rockman is the one we fell in love with.<br /><br />Despite our wishes and wants, we really enjoyed this hilarious take on the <em>Mega Man</em> series by Old Rich People. We couldn't help but laugh at Dr. Wily and all the hoops he has to go through just to kill our favorite robot. Oh, and the ending? Priceless. We expect a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/24/homebrew-week-the-recapping/">DS homebrew</a> version of the game to be made asap. The VC is jam-packed with memories from yesteryear, spilling over with wonderful software that defined our childhoods. But it isn't all lollipops and puppy dogs. Nostalgia can also be very misleading, and some of those packets of data you download from Nintendo's service can end up souring childhood memories.<br />
<br />
Personally speaking -- and this will probably sound like heresy in some quarters, so brace yourselves -- I was left disappointed by <em>Mega Man 2</em>, a game I adored as an eleven-year-old, but one that now seems slightly dated, with its repeated leaps of faith and enemies that like to spawn directly beneath you. On the other hand, a game such as <em>Super Mario Bros. 3</em> <em>still </em>feels like a breath of fresh air, almost two decades after it was released.<br />
<br />
Thinking about this some more, we have three questions for you. One: which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vctuesday/">Virtual Console</a> games don't hold the same magic for you as they once did? Two: have any titles aged better than you suspected they would? And three: have you ever held off from downloading a certain game, concerned that it may ruin one of those precious childhood memories?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/10/wii-warm-up-through-rose-tinted-glasses/">Wii Warm Up: Through rose-tinted glasses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. What <em>is</em> true is that the decision is completely up to Nintendo -- but that goes for all Capcom games, not just the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/virtually-overlooked-bionic-commando/">retrospectively controversial</a> Hitler-killing ones.<br /><br />According to Capcom's Public Relations Director Chris Kramer, the company licensed the rights to their games to Nintendo. It's therefore completely up to Nintendo whether and when Capcom titles get released on the Virtual Console -- Capcom no longer has any input in the decision.<br /><br />That's all fine and good, but at the same time, it makes us a little uneasy. One question we have -- where is the <em>Mega Man</em> series on North American consoles? Why is it taking so long for Nintendo of America to release even one game of the beloved series? Nintendo obviously has plenty of games on their plate that they'd like to release in a timely fashion, but when that stops us from playing some of our favorite Capcom classics, we can't say we're too happy about it.<br /><br />What about you? Are there any Capcom games that you wish Nintendo would just <em>hurry up</em> with?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/05/wherefore-art-thou-mega-man/">Wherefore art thou, Mega Man?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 May 2008 18:00:00 EST. Even though it's been far too long since we've seen the classic Blue Bomber in action, Capcom knows how much gamers love the little fella. That's why they're selling this simple but delightful Mega Man shirt at <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&amp;SiteID=capcomus&amp;Locale=en_US&amp;Env=BASE&amp;productID=103977600">their online store</a>.<br /><br />This fabricized ode to the lovable robot will set you back $18 (not including Capcom's usually exorbitant shipping prices), but can you really put a price on nostalgia? Unfortunately, though, the website won't let you buy the shirt at present. Perhaps it's already sold out?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1176">Capcom's Blog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/capcom-offers-mega-mega-man-shirt/">Capcom offers mega Mega Man shirt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 18:00:00 EST. We have to chuckle when the <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1165">Capcom blog</a> upon recognizing <em>Mega Man</em> holds the <em>Guiness</em> record for "Most Number of Games In a Single Series," admits that the franchise has been "milked like no other milking in the history of video game milkings!"<br /><br />The <a href="http://gamers.guinnessworldrecords.com/"><em>Guinness World Record Gamer's Edition</em></a> recognizes 46 <em>Mega Man</em> games, but the Capcom blog adds several more that were Japan-only or very much off the beaten path (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Soccer"><em>Mega Man Soccer</em></a>?). Capcom is actually asking for help in figuring out all the <em>Mega Man</em> games (not counting appearances in other titles). Whoever lists them all on the <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1165">Capcom site</a> first gets a "semi-official Capcom gold star of complementarianism" and "some kinda random prize." Good luck!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/capcom-embraces-mega-mans-milking-asks-for-full-mega-man-gam/">Capcom embraces Mega Man's 'milking,' asks for full Mega Man games list</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 11:15:00 EST. There may be more Mega Man games than you'll ever get to play (or <em>want</em> to play) in your lifetime, but that hasn't stopped Capcom from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/its-official-mega-man-is-the-most-milked-series-ever/">milking the franchise</a> even more.<br /><br />The next game planned for the Blue Bomber is another title in the <span style="font-style: italic;">Star Force</span> series. Yes, those of us outside of Japan haven't even gotten <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/mega-man-star-force-2-forces-details-upon-us/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man Star Force 2</span></a> yet, but a third game is already on it's way. <br /><br />Capcom has put up a <a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/">teaser website</a> for it, which is actually pretty nice-looking as far as official sites go. Currently, though, you can only download a wallpaper version of the picture shown above.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=41268">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/teaser-site-reveals-mega-man-star-force-3/">Teaser site reveals Mega Man Star Force 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 18:00:00 EST. You probably won't be seeing this beauty in any churches, but this stained-glass Mega Man is all kinds of awesome. Not only is it completely gorgeous, as stained glass usually is, but it's a creative way of pixelating the Blue Bomber. Without much more gushing, we'll just acknowledge that this was a great idea, with great execution.<br /><br />If you visit <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/garyandliz/sets/72157603800105693/">Gary in Cleveland's flickr</a> account, you can also get a glimpse into how the stained-glass making process works. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=40717">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/dont-throw-a-rock-at-this-glass-man/">Don't throw a Rock at this glass, Man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 19:30:00 EST. In a promotion for the game, Capcom has allowed Japanese players to download a classic Rockman <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/27/ds-punch-cards-resurface-in-mega-man-star-force-2/">card</a> at DS download stations.<br /><br />It would definitely be cool if Capcom let other regions enjoy this content, too, but we're not getting our hopes up. <br /><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5534595">Beatboxtaun</a>, the same craftster behind the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/crochet-out-with-little-mac-and-mike-tyson/"><em>Punch-Out!</em></a> scarf, has gone and designed some winter gear based on <span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man 2</span> (a game which, incidentally, has one of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/anniversary-cds-rock-man/">our</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/midi-art-game-songs-3/">favorite</a> video game soundtracks). It might be getting a little too warm for scarves, since spring is just around the corner, but we're sure your nostalgia can keep you cold enough to don this beauty.<br /><br />What's nice about this scarf is that it not only features the Blue Bomber himself, but also the villains of the game. Now, all she has to do is make a <em>Mega Man 3</em> scarf that includes Proto Man, and we'd be super happy.<br /><br />This neck mitten certainly isn't cheap, as it will cost you $150 on Etsy -- but until we get a classic <em>Mega Man</em> game on the DS, this is probably the next best thing. For now, though, we guess we'll have to settle for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/mega-man-star-force-2-forces-details-upon-us/"><em>Mega Man Star Force</em></a> and the like.<br /><br />Another picture of the scarf is posted after the break, if you want to see the rest of the villains included.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/mega-man-scarf-is-mega-sweet/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega Man scarf is mega sweet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/mega-man-scarf-is-mega-sweet/">Mega Man scarf is mega sweet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 22:30:00 EST. When we think of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/starforce/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man Star Force</span></a>, we tend to wonder, "Is this really what <span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man</span> has come to?" Since some of you may enjoy the Blue Bomber's battle RPG, though, you might be interested in hearing some details about the sequel.<br /><br />While the last <span style="font-style: italic;">Star Force</span> game came in three different "flavors" (<span style="font-style: italic;">Dragon</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Pegasus</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Leo</span>), <span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man Star Force 2</span> will only have two versions to choose from (<span style="font-style: italic;">Zerker x Ninja</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Zerker x Saurian</span>). Depending on which iteration you choose to buy, Mega Man will have different powers. The Zerker element (which is in both games) will give Mega Man a lightning-powered sword, the Ninja element will increase his speed and let him throw a big Shurikan, and the Saurian element will give him the power of "explosive fiery fists." As for the storyline, the game will take place two months after the ending of its predecessor, and involves a new trouble-making character named "Rogue."<br /><br />Other than that, the characters, graphics, and battle system appear to be the same or similar, meaning that if you enjoyed the first <em>Star Force</em> title, you'll probably like this one too (and vice versa). The online component sounds slightly deeper, though, allowing you to either battle, share cards, share upgrades, or aid in transformation upgrades.<br /><br />The game is scheduled to hit the DS in June, so those of you anticipating it won't have to wait all that long.<br /><br /><br /><br />[Via GamesPress press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/mega-man-star-force-2-forces-details-upon-us/">Mega Man Star Force 2 forces details upon us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Mar 2008 20:00:00 EST. Capcom has announced that <em>Mega Man Star Force 2</em> will be out for the DS in June for $30. This action-RPG follow-up to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/two-new-ds-titles-for-mega-mans-20th-anniversary/">last year's game</a> follows in its <em>Pokemon</em>-like style, releasing in two different editions: <em>Zerker X Saurian</em> and <em>Zerker X Ninja</em>. (Huh. Where's the love for Ninja X Saurian?)<br /><br />The local- and WiFi-network-able game relies on collecting new characters and collaborating with friends. With the right connections, players assemble a "portfolio of Battle Cards with distinct attributes," according to a Capcom fact sheet. We've been trying to get the kids -- and our closeted adult gamer friends -- off <em>Pokemon</em> for years. Maybe this is a step in the right direction?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/">Mega Man Star Force 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/#696320"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/star-force-2-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/#696319"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/star-force-2-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/#696318"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/star-force-2-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/#696317"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/star-force-2-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-star-force-2/#696316"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/star-force-2-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/mega-man-star-force-2-coming-in-june/">Mega Man Star Force 2 coming in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. While you already know tons of information about the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/smash-bros-brawl"><span style="font-style: italic;">Smash Bros.</span></a> game, you should probably know what <em>not</em> to expect. Many of your hopes and dreams have given birth to compelling rumors, but it's time to put those rumors to rest (and never wake them again).<br /><br />Masahiro Sakurai managed to clear up some things in a recent interview with IGN -- things we may have already known, but didn't necessarily want to believe -- so check after the break to see what's <span style="font-style: italic;">not</span> in store for you this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/super-smash-bros-brawl-delayed-until-march-9th/">March</a> (or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/rumor-europeans-to-get-in-on-the-brawl-june-6th/">June</a>).<br /><br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/a-few-things-you-wont-find-in-smash-bros-brawl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A few things you won't find in Smash Bros. Then again, you might remember the chorus of angry Nintendo/Disney/Square Enix fanboys screaming when they realized that the announcement was one of EGM's annual April Fools' Day pranks. If you also smacked your head in realization when the initial excitement subsided, we've got great news for you (and this time, it's on the level).<br /><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JudgeSpear2">JudgeSpear</a> has lovingly crafted his take on the game-that-never-was, titling it <em>Super Mario Fusion: Mushroom Kingdom Hearts</em>. Much like the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_Hearts">legit Square Enix franchise</a>, <em>Fusion</em> features a dimension-hopping Mario, and worlds based off of other video game franchises, including <em>Halo</em>, <em>Sonic</em>, <em>Doom</em>, <em>Castlevania</em>, <em>Ghouls and Ghosts</em>, <em>Mega Man</em>, and a handful of other Nintendo titles. Using familiar controls similar to those of <em>Super Mario World</em>, and a new gunplay mechanic using Covenant weaponry, this programmer has created a Frankengame that is definitely worth checking out.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DEKIX31N">A demo for the game</a> is available on his site. Sure, it's still a tad buggy, but it's free, and it's probably the only time you'll see Mario packin' heat. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_the_Hedgehog_(video_game)">We hope</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/20/super-mario-fusion-makes-mushroom-kingdom-hearts-a-reality/">Super Mario Fusion makes Mushroom Kingdom Hearts a reality</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Jan 2008 15:00:00 EST. This piece by <a href="http://www.myspace.com/8bitartist">8-bit Artist</a> made use of 23 pipes, each of which are painted 360-degrees around. On the opposite side is Mega Man in his red and orange Heat Man suit (though we prefer the Blue Bomber suit, ourselves). The pipes are also just shy of two feet, making this a good size for some wall hanging (or not, as it's two-sided). Unfortunately, if any of you collectors out there were hoping to do so, it won't be happening since the piece already sold. <br /><br />While we love the idea of using the pipes as a canvas, a part of us wonders whether this would be an idea better suited for Mario. Mario is, after all, an Italian plumber who often uses pipes to get where he's going. It's still cool, nonetheless, so check after the break to see some more pictures.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/07/mega-man-rocks-the-pipes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega Man rocks the pipes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/07/mega-man-rocks-the-pipes/">Mega Man rocks the pipes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Jan 2008 15:00:00 EST. Brawl</em>. Unfortunately, it looks like that isn't happening. <br /><br />Bionic Commando recently interviewed Keiji Inafune, the creator of <em>Mega Man</em>, who had this to say regarding<em> Brawl</em>: "Well, I really do love <em>Super Smash Brothers</em>. It's a great series...but, Nintendo hasn't asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I'm still waiting...we have a little bit of time left, it's not coming out for another few months."<br /><br />Somebody, call the man! Which game series that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year has the best music? Sorry, about half of our readers, it's not <em>Final Fantasy.</em> But, like, <em>Final Fantasy</em>, it is a near-infinite vortex of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Powered_Up">remakes</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/22/mega-man-said-punch-card-you-out/">spinoffs</a>: <em>Mega Man</em>. As part of the 20th anniversary festivities for the original Japanese release of <em>Rockman</em>, Capcom is releasing two CDs of new arrangements of classic <em>Rockman </em>music, done by] musicians from the <em>Mega Man Battle Network</em> series, as well as Konami's <em>Beatmania IIDX </em>series.<br /><br />The <em>Rockman 1-6 Rock Arrange Ver. 2007 </em>came out on the 5th, and the <em>Rockman 1-6 Techno Arrange Ver. 2007 </em>CD is out today. Both focus on the 8-bit <em>Mega Man</em> games, which is <em>fine with us</em>. The discs retail for 3,150 yen each ($28), which is <em>somewhat less fine.<br /><br /></em>The original soundtracks for <em>Mega Mans</em> (<em>Mega Men?</em>) 7 and 8 will be reissued as well. Samples of all four of these discs are available at the official site, including, yes, <em>both</em> Rock and Techno arrangements of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdxErDD6NB0">"Dr. Wily's Castle 1"</a> from <em>Mega Man 2</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dengekionline.com/data/news/2007/12/19/8b2e7d499939cd8b2e59b3c698dc2fea.html">Dengeki</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/anniversary-cds-rock-man/">Anniversary CDs rock, man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Dec 2007 18:00:00 EST. Welcome to our weekly feature, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/virtually-overlooked">Virtually Overlooked</a>, wherein we talk about games that aren't on the Virtual Console yet, but should be. Call it a <em>retro-speculative</em>.<br /><br />We were driven into a melancholy by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/australia-to-get-mega-man-2-u-s-to-get-not-mega-man-2/">news</a> that Australia (and probably Europe) was getting a Virtual Console version of <em>Mega Man 2</em> while we have yet to see a download of the first game. Many of you correctly noted that it was stupid to wait for a VC version with the <em>Mega Man Anniversary Collection</em> disc available so cheaply and plentifully. But we actually <em>have</em> the disc and the cartridge. It's a simple matter of wanting <em>every </em>game we like to be available through as many conduits as possible, to get into the most hands as possible. A Virtual Console release, as well, allows a game to come back to the attention of the gaming community, sparking discussion once again. We want that for <em>Mega Man 2</em> forever. Our memories of <em>Mega Man 2</em> are <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzSR_TFMirs">110 million</a>, after all.<br /><br />The existence of the <em>Mega Man Anniversary Collection</em> still makes any included game too easy to play on the Wii to be Virtually Overlooked material, even if, by doing so, it limits discussion. There's no real reason to <em>wish</em> for a game that you can just go buy for less money. That renders <em>Mega Man 1-8</em> off limits (good luck playing <em>8</em> on a Nintendo system any other way!) as well as <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man:_The_Power_Battle">The Power Battle</a> </em>and <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_2:_The_Power_Fighters">The Power Fighters</a>. </em>But we still want to talk <em>Mega Man,</em> so we went scrambling for an appropriate game. <em>Mega Man X</em>? No, it is also available on a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_X_Collection">compilation</a>. <em>Rockman Battle &amp; Chase? </em>No, it's on <em>the same compilation!</em> <em>Rockboard</em> will have to do, then. It's got the benefit of being the weirdest <em>Mega Man </em>game yet, and we can keep <em>Mega Man Soccer</em> saved up for a bit.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/virtually-overlooked-wily-and-right-no-rockboard-thats-paradise/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Virtually Overlooked: Wily &amp; Right no Rockboard: That's Paradise</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/virtually-overlooked-wily-and-right-no-rockboard-thats-paradise/">Virtually Overlooked: Wily &amp; Right no Rockboard: That's Paradise</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Nov 2007 21:00:00 EST. All of you <em>Megamaniacs </em>(we <em>so totally just made that up</em>) out there will likely enjoy the update Dengeki has presented for the sequel to <em>Mega Man Star Force</em>. Not only is Capcom including a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/contest-has-capcom-putting-fan-made-character-into-game/">fan-made character</a> into the title, but they've also acted the part of the little league football coach, playing a bench-riding child in the last seconds of the big game in the form of including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/27/ds-punch-cards-resurface-in-mega-man-star-force-2/">punch cards</a> into the mix. You know, those same things that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/08/first-look-at-a-spectrobes-punch-card/"><em>Spectrobes</em></a> used.<br /><br />So, if you want to catch a glimpse at some of the punch cards, then head on over. <div style="text-align: left;">Some awesome soul has taken it about himself to make visually enhanced game tunes, and the result is nothing short of spectacular. Using a program called <span style="font-style: italic;">Music Animation Machine MIDI Player</span>, which converts the musical notes of MIDI songs into art, the creator of these videos has managed to blow our minds. Sure, we always enjoy it when musical sounds are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/22/wiimote-makes-music-pretty/">synthesized</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Electroplankton/">with visual imagery</a>, but when some of our favorite songs are involved, it just makes it <em>that much better</em>.<br /><br />We decided to put the <span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man 2</span> "Dr. Wily Stage 1" song up top to celebrate <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/celebrating-rock-mans-20th-birthday/">Rock Man's 20th anniversary,</a> and well, because it's <em>our</em> favorite. Siliconera had the opportunity to attend a party celebrating Rock Man's (Mega Man outside of Japan) 20th birthday bash recently. While the little robotic boy isn't quite yet old enough to drink, he comments that he "likes the taste of virgin motor oil." Besides, with his rampant kleptomania, we're sure he'll have to celebrate his 21st behind bars.<br /><br />In attending the party at Sunshine City, Siliconera snapped up a bunch of choice photos, which we've snuggly placed past the break<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/celebrating-rock-mans-20th-birthday/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Celebrating Rock Man's 20th birthday</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/celebrating-rock-mans-20th-birthday/">Celebrating Rock Man's 20th birthday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Nov 2007 12:20:00 EST. We couldn't make this up if we tried. And, believe you me, we try to make up things <em>all the time</em>. Like, having money in our bank account or being respected by <em>anyone</em>. This, however, is reality.<br /><br />During a contest held by Capcom in Japan, one lucky fan could send in their own drawing for a character. The winner would have their character redrawn by the artists at Capcom and included in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/27/ds-punch-cards-resurface-in-mega-man-star-force-2/"><em>Mega Man Star Force 2</em></a>. Word is a winner has been chosen and their character is nothing short of <em>awesome</em>. Dubbed Goat Kung-Fu, the character is unique in the way that it can karate chop boards of wood in half, then clean up its own mess by eating the leftover garbage.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/contest-has-capcom-putting-fan-made-character-into-game/">Contest has Capcom putting fan-made character into game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 18:40:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> is releasing some <em>totally great</em> stuff to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first <em>Rockman </em>game (way back when it had <em>scores</em>). We're happy not just because it's <em>rad</em>, but because it focuses on the for-real Blue Bomber and not on one of the scores of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/16/mega-man-gets-star-force-centric-new-website/">Mega Man-lites</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> has spun off over the years.<br /><br />Unfortunately, we can't tell if the limited-edition items -- including t-shirts, scarves (!) and phone straps -- will be made available online or only at the special <em>Rockman</em> event held in Ikebukuro on the 18th. We would at least like a shot at ordering one of these jackets. So long as we're spending a whole week <em>assailing</em> you with <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/zelda-week">links about Link</a>, we thought we'd share with you one of the best fan-made art pieces we've seen for the green-capped adventurer. Jainai Jeffries created this amazing realistic envisioning of Link last year, posing him on a tree porcupined with red-fletched arrows. Past the post break, you can check out an uncolored version of the above image and several other video game reinterpretations Jainai has illustrated.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/zelda-week-the-art-of-jainai-jeffries/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zelda Week: The art of Jainai Jeffries</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/zelda-week-the-art-of-jainai-jeffries/">Zelda Week: The art of Jainai Jeffries</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Oct 2007 17:50:00 EST.
