It's also difficult to tell whether this RAY model is the manned version created by the Marines, or the unmanned mass-produced model designed by the Patriots. Either way, we desperately want these things adorning our various fireplace mantels as soon as humanly possible. Check out high-resolution shots of all three statues in the gallery below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/">ReVenture Statue Prototypes</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/#4992776"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/metalgearrayprototypefigure_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/reventure-statue-prototypes/#4992777"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/portal2prototypefigures_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/29/threea-toys-unveils-prototype-portal-2-and-metal-gear-solid-2-st/">ThreeA Toys unveils prototype Portal 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2 statuettes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Apr 2012 22:00:00 EST. Including every single Metal Gear release, from the original <em>Metal Gear</em> on the MSX2 through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD</em> <em>Collection</em></a> for the 360 and PS3, Hideo Kojima's groundbreaking masterclass in theatrics and stealth has amassed 31.1 million units sold, as of December 31, 2011.<br /><br />To put that in perspective via a completely arbitrary and meaningless number crunch, that's 3.8 Metal Gear games sold for every person living in New York City. Put another way, if you took every Metal Gear game ever sold and laid them all end to end, the resulting line of cartridges, discs and boxes would stretch all the way from San Francisco to <em>somewhere else</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/17/metal-gear-series-sells-31-1-mill-over-lifetime/">Metal Gear series sells 31.1 mill over lifetime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2012 21:00:00 EST. Having relaunched <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-rising-revengeance"><em>Metal Gear Rising</em></a> as a full-on action game under the supervision of Platinum Games, Konami has taken the opportunity to freshen up its <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> series <a href="http://metalgearsolid.com/">website</a>. In addition to a bunch of media for each game, and, of course, purchase links, the new site offers an <a href="http://www.metalgearsolid.com/app/webroot/timeline/">interactive timeline</a> of highlights from the games, along with real-world events that are referenced in their labyrinthine, impenetrable plots.<br />
<br />
A quick warning: all the old<em> Metal Gear Solid: Rising</em> media is still <a href="http://www.metalgearsolid.com/media">on the site</a>, now labeled with <em>Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance</em>'s title. If you're watching a trailer and there are watermelons or "Zan-Datsu" ... that's the old game.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/metal-gear-solid-website-provides-handy-timeline-of-many-confusi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Metal Gear Solid website provides handy timeline of many confusing events</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/metal-gear-solid-website-provides-handy-timeline-of-many-confusi/">Metal Gear Solid website provides handy timeline of many confusing events</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 19:00:00 EST. Konami's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-rising"><em>Metal Gear Solid: Rising</em></a> is now Platinum Game's <em>Metal Gear Rising: Reveangeance</em>, just as we were lead to believe by the trailer that leaked <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/10/metal-gear-rising-developed-by-platinum-games/">earlier today</a>. Raiden, apparently channeling his unstoppable child soldier roots, has gone fully cyborg ninja in order to hack, slash and grotesquely dismember every single thing that exists.<br />
<br />
We're not going to lie, the idea of taking a RAY model Metal Gear head on with a robotic lightning sword makes us tingle in very specific, covert places.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/10/just-like-we-said-metal-gear-rising-revengeance-developed-by-p/">Just like we said, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance developed by Platinum Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Dec 2011 22:14:00 EST. There's an unusually high concentration of Metal Gear(?!) buzzing around the industry right now: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/15/deja-review-metal-gear-solid-hd-collection/"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a> is upscaling its way through living rooms the world over, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-rising"><em>Metal Gear Solid Rising</em></a>'s production continues, once again under the watchful eye of series progenitor Hideo Kojima. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/kojima-on-mgs5-well-probably-have-to-make-it-at-some-point/"><em>Metal Gear Solid 5</em></a> is even closer to being a thing now, but what about Kojima's other <em>other</em> baby, Project Ogre?<br />
<br />
"I can't really say too much about that project yet, but it's a very subdued experience," Kojima said during an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK. "It's a little bit different to what I've done up until now. On the surface it will look similar, but once you get into it, it will be a different experience."<br />
<br />
Announcements like this always get our blood pumping. Metal Gear set in medieval times? <em>Zone of the Ogres</em>? Whatever Project Ogre is, we at least know that it's a long way off: "The Ogre project is going to take a lot of time, so I want to produce some other things on the side, like I'm doing with Rising."<br />
<br />
Oh! Dude. <em>Policenaogres</em>. Think about it, Kojima.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/26/kojimas-project-ogre-will-be-different-but-not-anytime-soon/">Kojima's 'Project Ogre' will be different, but not anytime soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Nov 2011 13:30:00 EST. Konami has announced a European release date for the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a>, an enhanced assembly of Hideo Kojima's playful, odd and utterly Byzantine stealth saga. (Well, <em>most</em> of it.) It'll be in shops for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 3, 2012.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Konami via uncompressed codec to confirm the HD collection's North American release date, which most retailers and rental outlets still list as November 8th, 2011. [<strong>Update:</strong> Konami has confirmed that date.] A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/30/collect-the-metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-limited-edition/">Limited Edition</a> packing a <strike>450-page</strike> 250-page art book will also be available, as will this repeated reminder of what you're getting in the box: <em>Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance</em>, <em>Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence</em> and <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em>. The Subsistence edition of <em>MGS3</em> also includes <em>Metal Gear</em> and <em>Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.</em><br />

The nested novelty of playing an MSX game inside a PS3 port of a PS2 game sounds too good to resist!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/26/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-slithers-into-europe-on-feb-3-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection slithers into Europe on Feb. 3, 2012 [update: US on Nov. 8]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/26/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-slithers-into-europe-on-feb-3-2/">Metal Gear Solid HD Collection slithers into Europe on Feb. 3, 2012 [update: US on Nov. 8]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Oct 2011 12:07:00 EST. During an interview with <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/07/15/hideo-kojima-talks-metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-peace-walker-hd-ps-vita/">PlayStation Blog</a>, <em>Metal Gear</em> mogul and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/transfarring">transfarring</a> technorati <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Hideo-Kojima">Hideo Kojima</a> dropped a crucial truth-bomb about the future of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Snatcher">Snatcher</a></em>, his cyberpunk cult-classic.<br />
<br />
With <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/LA-Noire">L.A. Noire</a></em>'s brain-bustingly successful existence as an adventure game, and with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a> </em>bringing cyberpunk back into the limelight, Kojima was asked whether or not he thinks the world is ready for another <em>Snatcher</em>. "I would love to do something like <em>Snatcher</em>," he said, "but I do not have the time or the means to do so. But if anyone else would like to develop it, I would love it."<br />
<br />
It's sad to hear that the series' progenitor won't be returning to Neo Kobe City anytime soon, but at least die-hard <em>Snatcher</em> fans (<em>Snatchies</em>, we call ourselves) can look forward to a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/08/kojima-announces-snatcher-inspired-radio-drama-for-real-this-ti/">radio drama based on the game</a>. What do <em>you </em>think? Should <em>Snatcher </em>be handed off to another developer, or left as-is?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/16/kojima-on-snatcher-if-anyone-else-would-like-to-develop-it-i/#poll66471">View Poll</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/16/kojima-on-snatcher-if-anyone-else-would-like-to-develop-it-i/">Kojima on Snatcher: 'If anyone else would like to develop it, I would love it.'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 12:00:00 EST. The game designer tweeted some pictures of <em>Metal Gear</em> design documents he happened to find while cleaning his shelves. Above is a hand-drawn level map, featuring tons of notes; he also tweeted Codec conversation <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/Kojima_Hideo/status/27992783872598016">scripts</a>, with each katakana character hand-written into a grid to fit in the screen (and memory) space.<br />
<br />
Kojima also showed off the cover to his <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/Kojima_Hideo/status/27997421585825792">design document</a> for "Metal Gear Intruder," which he submitted to Konami in 1986. The proposal was rejected, an occurrence that Kojima probably finds quaintly nostalgic now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/20/kojima-finds-vintage-metal-gear-design-documents/">Kojima finds vintage Metal Gear design documents</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Jan 2011 19:30:00 EST. <strong>Snake: </strong><em>Metal Gear!</em><br />
<strong>Otacon:</strong> Right, Snake, people to work on the next generation of <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> games.<br />
<strong>Snake:</strong> Next-generation special forces?!<br />
<strong>Otacon: </strong>Well, I guess you could call them that. Konami is hiring designers, programmers and artists.<br />
<strong>Snake: </strong>They're building an army!<br />
<strong>Otacon: </strong>They could just need some additional staff to work on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-rising">Metal Gear Solid: Rising</a></em>, Snake. You remember, the one starring Raiden.<br />
<strong>Snake:</strong> Raiden!<br />
<strong>Otacon:</strong> ... <br />
<strong>Snake:</strong> Otacon?!<br />
<strong>Otacon:</strong> What is it, Snake?<br />
<strong>Snake:</strong> Tell the story again about the time I drove a ... Metal Gear!<br />

Check it out after the break.<br />
<br />
Also after the break: some off-screen gameplay footage from <a href="http://jp.diginfo.tv/2010/02/22/10-0008-r-jp.php">DigInfo</a>, taken early this year at a trade show. It should look pretty familiar to <em>Metal Gear Online</em> players, but with all those crazy gimmicks afforded by the arcade release, like the head-tracking and the gun controller.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/11/see-how-metal-gear-arcade-begins/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See how Metal Gear Arcade begins</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/11/see-how-metal-gear-arcade-begins/">See how Metal Gear Arcade begins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Dec 2010 09:15:00 EST. And then ship yourself to Japan in it. Konami is holding a <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> cosplay contest next month, with the winner to be determined at the Tokyo Game Show.<br />
<br />
Interested Johnny Sasaki lookalikes (and other Metal Gear cosplayers) can submit pictures <a href="https://www.konami.co.jp/gs/mg_cosplay/">here</a> (warning: Japanese-language application!) Konami will select a few of the entries to appear at the publisher's TGS booth on September 18. There, they will be evaluated by a panel of guest judges to be announced later -- as well as the TGS attendees in general, who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/26/tgs-2009-heres-our-obligatory-cosplay-gallery/">know a thing or two about dressing up</a>.<br />
<br />
The most difficult thing about <em>Metal Gear</em> cosplay is that if you're too accurate, you'll be too stealthy for the judges to notice.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/24/cosplayers-will-compete-at-tokyo-game-shows-metal-gear-cosplay/">Cosplayers will compete at Tokyo Game Show's 'Metal Gear Cosplay Camp'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Aug 2010 07:00:00 EST. Of course, those<em> Metal Gear Solid</em> games in which it was possible to do that also had tranquilizer guns. Does Raiden have a tranquilizer ... sword?<br />
<br />
"When you encounter human resistance you can slice their weapons in half, causing them to run away in fear," <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1114418p1.html">IGN</a> explains. "If you accidentally slice off a hand or two, well, that will be forgiven, we are told." So even if you choose to play that way, you still get to slice a lot of things with your sword. That's a relief! The game is also full of mechanical enemies and watermelons, which can all be safely sliced without damaging your no-kill status.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/19/metal-gear-solid-rising-doesnt-cut-out-pacifist-play-style/">Metal Gear Solid Rising doesn't cut out pacifist play style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Aug 2010 13:15:00 EST. Surely there are those within the Joystiq Biomass with the ability, locality or sheer resourcefulness to be in Japan from July 30 through August 1 to play test <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-arcade"><em>Metal Gear Arcade</em></a>. This post is for you. Konami is staging location tests of the 3D, head-tracking, coin-operated <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-online">Metal Gear Online</a> </em>adaptation at two gaming centers for those days only: Adores Shibuya (in, you guessed it, Shibuya) and Round One in Kahoku, Ishikawa Prefecture, about four hours west of Tokyo by train.<br />
<br />
Those who make the trek (or are lucky enough to live nearby) will not only be rewarded with the opportunity to play the game and a newly implemented Mission Mode, but will receive 2,000 Reward Points that can be used towards unlocks in <em>Metal Gear Online</em>. All that and the chance to say you traveled 8,000-odd miles to play an arcade game. Yeah ... best to keep that accomplishment to yourself.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/27/play-metal-gear-arcade-for-three-days-in-japan/">Play Metal Gear Arcade for three days ... in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Jul 2010 23:00:00 EST. You won't exactly be able to make your Wanzer look like a Metal Gear, but you will be able to festoon it with logos from FOXHOUND, Militaires Sans Frontieres, and other in-game factions. Kojima even signed autographs at Square Enix's Comic-Con booth to celebrate the announcement.<br />
<br />
The surprise (!) brought with it another nice bonus: the stylish <em>Front Mission Evolved</em> trailer after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/26/decorate-your-front-mission-evolved-robot-with-logos-from-me/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Decorate your Front Mission Evolved robot with logos from ... Remember when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Hideo-Kojima">Hideo Kojima</a> said that <i><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</a></i> would contain a feature so great that it would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/mgs-peace-walker-to-feature-vocaloid-interactive-scenes/">make people want to buy a PSP</a>? Well, ol' Hideo got one over on us again, because it isn't just one feature: it's the <i>entire game</i>.<br />
<br />
Rather than create a <i>Metal Gear</i> experience that somehow works within the confines of the handheld's capabilities, he and the <i><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Metal-Gear-Solid-4-Guns-Of-The-Patriots">Metal Gear Solid 4</a></i> team at Kojima Productions seem to have been inspired by them. The result is a game that is very much a "true" <i>Metal Gear Solid</i> that fits in your pocket, and much more. It's almost as if Kojima, compelled to make <i>just one more</i> game in the series -- wasn't there <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/kojima-may-have-to-return-for-metal-gear-solid-5/">something about</a> <i>MGS4</i> being his last? -- looked at the PSP and said, "Let's show them everything we've got."<br />

Well, they're helpful if you speak Japanese, that is. The latest round of ads for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</a></em> out of Japan centers on the escapades of Tom and Dick, two cartoon dudes who <em>really</em>, <em>really</em> like living everyday life as if they were Solid Snake. The duo demonstrate everything from the "heart massage" technique (reviving a downed teammate) to<i> </i>the game's four player co-op functionality, with plenty of goofy animation to boot.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/04/30/peace_walker_basics/">Andriasang</a> noticed the ads over at the <a href="http://www.hamaru-gear.com/">"Hamaru Gear Solid" website</a> -- "Hamaru Gear Solid" is the marketing campaign for <em>Peace Walker,</em> based on Hirokazu Hamamura, CEO of Enterbrain (the company that owns and publishes Japanese gaming mag Famitsu), and a pun relating his name to the word "Hamaru" (meaning "to get in"). We've embedded all five for you after the break, should you choose to entertain their <em>sheer madness</em>.<br type="_moz" />

In addition to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/north-america-getting-its-own-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-psp/">previously-announced set</a> containing the "spirited green" PSP, GameStop is also exclusively offering the "<a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77627">Big Boss Bundle</a>," which, for $200, includes the game and the camouflage PSP-3000 found in the Japanese bundle; in addition to a 4GB memory stick and a carrying case (neither of which is included in the <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77469">standard bundle</a>, which is also $200). Both hardware bundles also include a free digital copy of imminent disaster flick <em>2012</em> ... for some reason.<br />
<br />
So, the Big Boss Bundle is more stuff for the same price. You'd have to <em>really</em><u> </u>hate camo to opt for the other <em>Peace Walker</em> bundle. Both are scheduled for release on June 8.<br />

In the latest video, a trio of Snakes, along with some soldiers, team up to take on -- a helicopter. Or, if you prefer <em>Metal Gear Solid 3</em> naming conventions, <em>The Helicopter</em>. One Snake demonstrates how to look tough while wearing pink fatigues -- by CQC-ing and then kidnapping four soldiers in rapid succession. And we witness the splendor of the Ambulance Box. Remember when we thought of Metal Gear games as realistic military simulations? But it <em>does</em> include a <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/26/japan-getting-carnival-color-psp-systems/">"Spirited Green" PSP-3000</a>, a color previously unavailable in America. It <em>doesn't</em> include a PSP Go, so we're guessing the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/01/rumor-psp-go-relaunch-in-the-works/">relaunch</a>" hasn't begun yet.<br />
<br />
Launching alongside the standalone game on <strike>May 25</strike> June 8, the pack includes said green PSP, a copy of the game on UMD, a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and vouchers for both an unidentified movie download (for US residents only) and exclusive in-game items in <em>Peace Walker</em>, for $199.99.<br />
<br />
[Update: the game, and the bundle, are actually coming out on June 8.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/north-america-getting-its-own-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-psp/">North America getting its own Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP bundle [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Mar 2010 13:40:00 EST. Would a totally sweet camouflage bandana push you over the edge? <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=76135">GameStop</a> hopes so: it's offering an exclusive camo bandana, reminiscent of something Snake might adorn his head with, as a pre-order bonus for the game. Wear this, and even if you're not playing on the amazing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/21/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-psp-bundles-revealed/">limited edition system</a>, everyone will know that you're <em>Peace Walking.</em><br />

We have yet to confirm whether or not it grants infinite ammo to the wearer. <br />

What if we told you it was <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</a></em> footage? Kojima Productions has uploaded a lengthy gameplay video of the former <em>"Metal Gear Solid 5,"</em> in which our hero Big Boss does a bit of recruiting for his cause -- in this case, that means knocking dudes out and floating them back to his base on a balloon.<br />
<br />
We also get to see the "Sonic Eye" and "Analyzer" tools in action (a radar device and an item used to determine the stats of potential recruits), as well as the ninja-inspired "Stealth Mat," which allows Naked Snake to hide in plain sight while he's holding it up. Check it out after the break!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/11/lengthy-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-gameplay-video-floats-in/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lengthy MGS: Peace Walker gameplay video floats in</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/11/lengthy-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-gameplay-video-floats-in/">Lengthy MGS: Peace Walker gameplay video floats in</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Mar 2010 12:31:00 EST. To mark the occasion, Konami has released a new trailer and two new screenshots of the <em>Metal Gear Online</em>-based arcade cabinet. The trailer is available on the game's <a href="http://www.konami.jp/mg_arcade/?ref=AOU2010">website</a>.<br />
<br />
Konami has also provided a first look at the 3D glasses used to enable the game's "Integral Vision" effect. It's going to be <em>totally worth</em> putting on those goofy glasses, even after some sweaty guy <em>just</em> used them: not only do they create a 3D effect, the glasses also enable head-tracking. Where you look, Snake looks. To further immerse you in the experience, <em>Metal Gear Arcade</em> also has a mic for voice chat and a <em>giant</em> speaker system surrounding your head. !.<br />

<div style="text-align: right;"><small>[<a href="http://www.konami.co.jp/en/ir/ir-data/meeting/2010/0204.pdf?ref=global_home">Q3 2009 Presentation (PDF)</a>]</small></div>
Konami announced its financial results for its Q3 and the nine-month period ending December 31, 2009. The publisher's net revenues for the period were &yen;190.9 billion, down 18.4% from the same period in 2008 -- despite breakout success in Japan with the DS dating sim Love Plus, "strong sales" of <em>Dance Dance Revolution</em> and "game content for overseas consumption, such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Saw/"><em>Saw</em></a>."<br />
<br />
What was missing from 2009 was, of course, the megahit <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a>. "Due to the absence of major titles, such as last year's <em>Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots</em>, however," the publisher said in its <a href="http://www.konami.co.jp/zaimu/0912/english.pdf?ref=global_home">financial results release</a> (PDF), "the overall sales fell this quarter as compared to the same period the previous year." Should Konami succeed in releasing <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Peace Walker</em></a>, 2010 should look a bit happier. We're still shocked to see one of the biggest game companies ever become <em>this</em> reliant on a single franchise.<br />

Most prominent figures in the video game industry usually recoil when they're given all the credit for coming up with the idea for one of their studio's games. The same apparently can't be said for Hideo Kojima -- <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=232453?cid=OTC-RSS&amp;attr=CVG-News-RSS">according to CVG</a>, the mind behind <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> recently explained the origins of some of the concepts in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Peace Walker</em></a> during an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine: "Well it's strange, but not so many ideas come from the other staff," Kojima humbly stated.<br />
<br />
The idiosyncratic developer also pointed out, "Co-op Ring, Love Box - the names and the ideas come from myself," later adding "I am taking charge of the overall game design." We're pretty excited by this fact. It sounds like more than any other <em>Metal Gear</em> game that came before it, <em>Peace Walker</em> will be a direct window into Kojima's convoluted <em>thinkmeat</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/24/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-was-mostly-kojimas-idea/">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was mostly Kojima's idea</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jan 2010 18:00:00 EST. Kojima's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/kojima-finally-explains-his-wacky-countdown-site/">at it</a> again, teasing something very odd: <em>Piece Walker</em>. The teaser image above comes from a page linked on the Japanese <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em></a> <a href="http://www.konami.jp/mgs_pw/jp/index.html">site</a>, which either confirms something entirely new is "coming soon" or one of Kojima's web people is in desperate need of a Webster's. We're leaning towards the former.<br />
<br />
And that's pretty much it. There's really only an image to go on right now, but, personally, we're crossing our fingers for some kind of KFC tie-in. Can you imagine every 10 piece meal coming with a neat little cardboard box with a Snake action figurine hiding inside it? Sure, it could be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-touch">another iPhone game</a> or something, but we think our idea is <em>way</em> better.<br />

The <em>tactical espionage action</em> progenitor has snuck into December's lineup, along with another November refugee, <em>Yie Ar Koutei no Gyakushuu.</em><br /> <br /> December will also see the arrival of <em>Final Fight 3</em> for SNES, which features Guy and Haggar along with two new characters, all doing what they do best: punching people, eating garbage, and destroying <em>lots</em> of barrels. Of course, no Virtual Console schedule is complete without <em>shmups</em>, and December will see two: <em>Ordyne</em>, an adorable side-scroller from Namco, and <em>Zaxxon</em>, a classic Sega shooter with a confusing perspective. <div style="text-align: left;">Created with the capability to launch a nuclear slug, halfway across the world -- <em>undetected</em> -- Metal Gear Rex is anything but cute. That is, until you shrink it down to toy size, at which point it becomes positively <em>adorable</em>. The killer collectible was initially spotted by a <a href="http://www.toyark.com/3a-toys-metal-gear-rex-8822/">Toyark forum</a> member, who noted it was coming from <a href="http://www.threeaonline.com/">threeA</a>. The forum dweller further noted that Rex appears to be 15 to 17 inches tall.<br />
<br />
We're not sure if the railgun is functional but, if push comes to shove, you could definitely launch some rubber bands off of that thing. Pricing and release information have not yet been revealed.<br />

Konami has decided to start releasing its MSX library on Virtual Console, and as a result (should these games actually come out), the MSX selection will more than triple in November. Which just means it'll go from a whole <em>two games</em> to seven.<br />
<br />
One of the MSX classics planned for November? The original <em>Metal Gear!</em> Only available in America as a bonus with <em>Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence</em>, the debut of Hideo Kojima's verbose series will be on Japan's Virtual Console for 800 points sometime next month.<br />
<br />
The full list of planned releases, which <em>doesn't</em> include whatever arcade games Bandai Namco will overcharge for, is after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/30/msx-returns-to-virtual-console-in-japan-with-metal-gear/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>MSX returns to Virtual Console in Japan with ... Sharing a flimsy, cardboard box with another soldier is sure to be an inexhaustible supply of awkward discomfort. Aside from the clear violation of personal space, there are two major concerns for the occupants of Metal Gear Solid's iconic camouflage: (1) Who's driving this thing? And (2) that better be your gun poking me in the back, <em>I swear</em>.<br /><br />Thankfully, <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em> has an elegant solution for the former problem. Holding up on the PSP's d-pad will "sync" you with your sneaking partner(s) and, as long as the button remains held down, you'll stay in automatic lockstep with the leader. Remaining a cohesive group is an essential strategy for a silent approach, though splitting up offers its own advantages as well.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (TGS 2009)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/#2312487"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/mgspw092431_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/#2312486"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/mgspwshinkawa092407_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/#2312485"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/mgspwshinkawa092406_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/#2312484"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/mgspwshinkawa092405_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-tgs-2009/#2312483"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/mgspwcg092404_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/tgs-2009-hands-on-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-co-op/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 2009: Hands-on: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (co-op)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/tgs-2009-hands-on-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-co-op/">TGS 2009: Hands-on: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (co-op)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Sep 2009 08:57:00 EST. If you weren't able to make the trip to Japan for the Tokyo Game Show this year, don't fret -- not only do <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2009">we have you covered</a> on the <em>hot news scoop</em> front, but <a href="http://psp.ign.com/articles/102/1027904p1.html">IGN managed to snag</a> a downloadable copy of the co-op enabled, TGS-exclusive (well, formerly TGS-exclusive, we guess) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em></a> demo for the PSP. Just make sure you've got the latest firmware, download the file from the acronymed gaming news site, unzip it and place it in your PSP's "Game" folder, and enjoy.<br /> <br /> If, while enjoying, you also happen to <em>kick ass</em>, you might even get a high enough ranking to unlock a special wallpaper for your Sony handheld. Finally, we have incentive to do something other than make cardboard box fortresses.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-demo-available-now/">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo available now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 00:15:00 EST. Hideo Kojima has remained tight-lipped about the characters that will appear in Konami's upcoming PSP spy romp, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em></a> -- so far, we only know four: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/snakes-not-alone-in-this-9-minute-metal-gear-peace-walker-trail/">Snake, Snake, Snake and <em>Snaaaake!</em></a> However, <em>Famitsu</em> has <a href="http://psp.ign.com/articles/102/1027543p1.html">revealed</a> a few other faces that will make an appearances in the game: Amanda, Huey, Chico, Coldman, Strangelove, Galvez, Cecile, Paz, and, most notably, Master Miller from <em>Metal Gear 2</em>. The magazine also included illustrations of these characters, who look as colorful as their names might suggest.<br /> <br /> <em>Famitsu</em> also provides details about the co-op modes seen in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/snakes-not-alone-in-this-9-minute-metal-gear-peace-walker-trail/">the nine-minute trailer</a> released last month. When two players get close to one another, "Co-op" mode activiates, merging the players' health gauges and allowing them to trade items. When they get <em>really</em> close, they go into "Snake-in" mode, in which one player controls both Snakes' movements so that the other can focus on murdering fools.<br /><br />We wonder if all four players can merge in this manner, forming a growling, bearded <em>train of death?</em><br /> <br /> [Thanks, Ryan]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-characters-revealed-in-famitsu/">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker characters revealed in Famitsu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 11:58:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/15/turkish-inmate-escapes-jail-in-cardboard-box-solid-snake-style/">The first time</a> someone snuck out of a real-life prison by stuffing themselves inside a cardboard box, we found it amusing. The second time, though, we have to wonder how this <em>keeps</em> <em>happening</em>. According to the <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/6163821/Prisoner-escapes-jail-in-cardboard-box.html">Telegraph</a>, French inmate Jean-Pierre Treiber constructed a cardboard box in the prisoner's workshop at the Auxerre, Burgundy "high-security" prison at which he was awaiting trial. When no one was around last Tuesday morning, Treiber himself hopped in the box and awaited loading with "dozens" of other boxes, only hopping out of his concealment well after the truck had left the prison. <br /> <br /> In 2004, Treiber was accused of murdering French actor Roland Giraud's daughter, Geraldine, as well as her friend Katia Lherbier. Giraud calls the escape an "avowal" of Treiber's guilt, while Treiber's lawyer says it may be an indication of his client's absence of faith in the justice system. Either way, one thing's for sure: We either need fewer cardboard boxes in European prisons or more prison guards with suspiciously narrow vision cones.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5356261/metal-gear-style-cardboard-box-prison-escape">Kotaku</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/11/french-prisoner-snakes-past-guards-in-cardboard-box/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>French prisoner snakes past guards in cardboard box</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/11/french-prisoner-snakes-past-guards-in-cardboard-box/">French prisoner snakes past guards in cardboard box</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Sep 2009 02:15:00 EST. <div align="left">If you've been wondering why <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hideo-kojima">Hideo Kojima</a> has been spending nearly all his interview time as of late talking up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker">Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</a> </em>and <em>not</em> the console-bound <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-rising"><em>Metal Gear Solid <strike>Raiden</strike> Rising</em></a>, it's probably because the latter's presently a bit of an experiment-in-progress. "We're at an experiment level right now. We're doing a lot of experiments for <em>Rising,</em>" Kojima told <a href="http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/211903/kojima-peace-walker-and-rising-teams-are-not-good-friends/">GamePro</a> during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2009">GamesCom</a>. It is, after all, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/15/kojima-says-mgs-peace-walker-is-his-mgs5-calls-rising-a-diffe/">promised to deliver</a> a "different kind of action" for the series.<br /><br />From the sound of his subsequent statements, the experimentation goes beyond the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/13/metal-gear-solid-rising-getting-re-done-graphics-engine/">all-new graphics engine</a> planned for the title and into the realm of overall development philosophy for the legend's studio. "Even the management and team formations that we have at Kojima Productions, we are changing this around," he said, adding, "The core of it is, of course, the <em>Rising</em> team. They're doing a lot of high-level stuff with great staffs."<br /><br />And no, that last line isn't Kojima's way of saying <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/metal-gear-solid-rising-confirmed-for-ps3/">the game's "young" team</a> is actually spending all its time playing <em><a href="http://wow.com">World of Warcraft</a>.</em> (We hope.)<br /><br /></div>

Mr. Hideo Kojima, you've been hanging out with too many countdown websites. Speaking to <a href="http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1016056p1.html">IGN</a> at GamesCom, the <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> maestro had little to say about his numerous unannounced projects, but managed to impart just the right amount of ambiguity to leave us checking our watches for the impending announcement of ... well, what is it, exactly? <br /><br />"The one that I said that I've been wanting to make - this is a new franchise and a new title," he said, confirming at least one fresh property under development alongside <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em> and <em>Metal Gear Solid: Rising. </em>"For the other couple of titles, it could be something that you always wanted to have. It could be, or it could be something else. It's a matter of the timing of when we can get it out."<br /><br />Is it a new <em>Snatcher</em>? <em>Zone of the Enders 3</em>?<em> Lunar Knights 2</em>? That does it! Something that we've always wanted to have is ... the ability to read this man's mind. What do you think is tumbling around in there?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/kojimas-next-could-be-something-you-always-wanted-to-have/">Kojima's next could be something 'you always wanted to have'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Aug 2009 17:00:00 EST. Were it up to Hideo Kojima, we'd all be deciphering runes on a countdown site right now, and everyone would be <em>crushed</em> when it turned out <em>not</em> to be <em>Metal Gear Solid 5</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/">Metal Gear Solid: Touch</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/#1425139"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/mgs-touch-031109-012_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/#1425138"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/mgs-touch-031109-015_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/#1425137"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/mgs-touch-031109-011_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/#1425136"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/mgs-touch-031109-010_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-touch/#1425135"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/mgs-touch-031109-008_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/solid-savings-on-metal-gear-solid-touch/">Solid savings on Metal Gear Solid Touch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. The machine uses a 3D display combined with 3D glasses for what the trailer calls "Integral Vision." <br /><br />See the trailer after the break. And to see Integral Vision for yourself -- kinda -- check our gallery for a few 3D stereograms of the game. It's a little known fact that here at Joystiq we have a pretty extensive collection of coins, both big and small. It's a source of pride, but even so we're just as eager as you are to empty our piggy banks in the name of Hideo Kojima and his mysterious <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/kojima-productions-announces-metal-gear-arcade/">Metal Gear Arcade</a></em>. The project was one of <a href="http://e3.joystiq.com">E3's</a> most enigmatic announcements, with few details offered to accompany our baffled looks and gaping maws. <br /><br />Now some news about the game comes from Famitsu's latest issue -- but you might want to sit down for this. No really, as the mag reports that <em>Metal Gear Arcade</em> will be played sitting down while wearing 3D glasses and using a "special controller that allows for separate movement and viewpoint controls." The game will also support both solo and 16-player co-op matches. It sounds like we'll be trading these quarters for yen when <em>Metal Gear Arcade</em> targets Japanese arcades later this year. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/">Metal Gear Arcade</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/#2079605"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/metalgeararcade061206_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/#2079604"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/metalgeararcade061205_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/#2079603"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/metalgeararcade061204_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/#2079602"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/metalgeararcade061201_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-arcade/#2079601"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/metalgeararcade061203_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/11/famitsu-lifts-camouflage-off-metal-gear-arcade/">Famitsu lifts camouflage off Metal Gear Arcade</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Jun 2009 08:30:00 EST. Konami has announced that the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid"><em>Metal Gear Solid</em></a> will finally be heading to the PlayStation Store in America -- and pretty soon, too. You'll be able to replay Solid Snake's original adventure on June 18 and, similar to previous high-profile PS1 releases, will cost $9.99.<br /><br />As for Europe? No word, yet. Normally, we'd say there's no chance of both the US and Europe getting the same PS1 titles around the same time, but we <em>just</em> heard that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-vii"><em>Final Fantasy VII</em></a> is coming to <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/final-fantasy-vii-available-to-download-in-europe-today/">Europe too</a>, so you never know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/metal-gear-solid-coming-to-psn-june-18/">Metal Gear Solid coming to PSN June 18</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 13:45:00 EST.
