Director Austin Ivansmith told host Jonathan Holmes that <em>Mighty Switch Force 2</em> will be released on 3DS "in the next few months." Officer Patricia Wagon is returning, but leaving her policework behind for "a surprise career change."<br /><br />Ivansmith also revealed that Mighty Switch Force was originally conceived as a sequel to the DS/PSP's <em>Mighty Flip Champs.</em> Trying to build the screen-flipping mechanics into a single-screen game led to enough changes that it became its own thing. "The Mighty series itself is almost a joke," Ivansmith noted, as none of the games in the series really have anything to do with one another.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/mighty-switch-force-2-coming-to-3ds-eshop/">Mighty Switch Force 2 coming to 3DS eShop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2013 10:30:00 EST. Mighty Switch Force HD is the same game released on 3DS - with the bonus levels added in a recent update - but remade and redrawn in high resolution for the Wii U's HD output.<br /><br />The WiiPad will be used to display the location of each of the fugitives you're hunting down, just as the touchscreen does on the 3DS version. "When roaming without a TV," WayForward creative director Matt Bozon told Nintendo Power, "a smaller onscreen compass points the way. While this is admittedly not a groundbreaking use of the second screen, it does give the player a few very handy options."<br /><br />Here it is: the very first 3DS to Wii U remake. We expect to see plenty of these in the future.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/02/mighty-switch-force-going-hd-as-a-wii-u-download/">Mighty Switch Force going HD as a Wii U download</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Jul 2012 20:00:00 EST. WayForward is updating it to a "New Edition" featuring the vocal stylings of a young Bobby Brown. Actually, it features five new levels, upgraded 3D effects, and a "retry" button.<br /><br />If you'd like to buy something else while you're on the eShop, the Game Boy <em>Game &amp; Watch Gallery 2 </em>is on the shop today, as is the DSiWare game <em>Snakenoid Deluxe</em>, which is, of course, <em>Snake</em> plus <em>Arkanoid</em>. And this Friday, you can get a <em>Madagascar 3 </em>trailer on Nintendo Video, to bring Chris Rock's voice with you everywhere. <br /><br />And on Wii this week: nothing.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/24/nintendoware-weekly-mighty-switch-force-update-game-and-watch-ga/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Mighty Switch Force update, Game &amp; Watch Gallery 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/24/nintendoware-weekly-mighty-switch-force-update-game-and-watch-ga/">NintendoWare Weekly: Mighty Switch Force update, Game &amp; Watch Gallery 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 May 2012 11:30:00 EST. In each installment, we'll tell you about a downloadable game on the iPhone, iPad, Android device, DSi, 3DS, PSP, etc. Today: <span style="font-style: italic;">Mighty Switch Force!</span></font></div>

WayForward's <em>Mighty Switch Force</em> masquerades as a run-and-gun shooter, but the eShop game is basically a puzzle game, albeit one of the few puzzle games I can think of that's reflex-heavy enough to encourage speedrunning. That emphasis on speed allows a game with a relatively small set of levels to become a long-term pastime.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/">Mighty Switch Force (3DS eShop)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696893"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32221_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696894"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32222_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696895"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32223_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696896"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32224_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/26/portabliss-mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portabliss: Mighty Switch Force! Sure, you can download <em>Tetris</em> just about anywhere these days, but you couldn't download <em>Game Boy Tetris</em>. Today, the Game Boy's killer app arrives on the 3DS eShop, nostalgic music and all. It's accompanied by a much less familiar game: WayForward's brand new <em>Mighty Switch Force</em>. So, it's kind of an excellent day for the eShop!<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, amateur chiptuners can try out a new music program on DSiWare designed for arranging retro-style music.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/">Mighty Switch Force (3DS eShop)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696893"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32221_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696894"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32222_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696895"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32223_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mighty-switch-force-3ds-eshop/#4696896"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/i32224_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />

<strong>Update:</strong> Despite not mentioning it this morning, Nintendo also released the drawing/messaging app <em>Swapnote</em> for 3DS. <br />
Nintendo dropped its Q1 lineup on us this morning, offering highlights like the inexplicably GameStop-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/circle-pad-pro-gloms-onto-the-3ds-on-feb-7-exclusively-at-games/">Circle Pad Pro</a> and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/rhythm-heaven-fever-arrives-february-13-with-a-budget-price-tag/">best news of the year</a>. But there's a lot more in the lineup than those two items -- for example, we now have a specific release date for Masahiro Sakurai's 3DS <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kid-icarus-uprising"><em>Kid Icarus: Uprising</em></a>: March 23.<br />
<br />
On the 3DS eShop, Nicalis's ports of indie hits <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/07/vvvvvv-coming-to-3ds-in-late-2011/"><em>VVVVVV</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/nicalis-bringing-nightsky-to-3ds-eshop-in-2d/"><em>NightSky</em></a> are scheduled for eShop sometime in Q1, as is WayForward's <a href="http://micro.wayforward.com/mightyswitchforce/"><em>Mighty Switch Force</em></a>, a port of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zen-pinball"><em>Zen Pinball</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.renegadekid.com/mutantmudds.htm"><em>Mutant Mudds</em></a>. Nintendo will bring <em>Kirby's Block Ball</em> to the Virtual Console in the quarter as well.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mario-party-9"><em>Mario Party 9</em></a> will launch on Wii March 11, preceded on February 27 by <em>PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond</em>. The only listed WiiWare title is, again, from Nicalis: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/la-mulana"><em>La-Mulana</em></a> sometime in the quarter. The DS lineup is ... light, with only the February release of <em>Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 </em>really worth mentioning.
