Sorry, but nothing playable hits the Store in today's update. Not even a demo of The Darkness. What we do have are tons of videos. So get the microwave ready, pop up some popcorn and get ready to watch:
  • Heavenly Sword Gamer's Day trailer. With this trailer on your PS3, at least you can pretend to be playing it.
  • MLB 07 The Show trailer. Just in case watching last week's videos wasn't sufficient.
  • Stranglehold trailer. John Woo's Hard Boiled sequel-turned-to-game gets another visit to the Store.
  • Transformers movie trailer. In full HD, you'll get more than meets the eye.
  • Bruce Springsteen with the Sessions Band: Live in Dublin trailer.

From now on the weekly PS3 release lists are going to include worldwide games. Why would that interest you, you ask? It may be easy to forget, but your shiny black behemoth is capable of playing games from any region. That means every (both) game(s) in the following list is (are) a potential purchase. Here're the releases for the coming week:

How about that, eh? A couple of new games out. Keep this up and we might end up with one of those 'software library' things I've heard so much about. Release dates are subject to change, so be sure to call your local retailer and check, just in case. If you pick up either of these new releases, let use know what you think of them.

What a busy morning for news! Download a demo of Sony's baseball game, MLB 07: The Show. It's the biggest demo yet, clocking in at a whopping 156MB.

1. Download the demo EBOOT file.
2. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
3. Go to the PSP/GAME folder.
4. Extract ZIP file into the GAME directory.

Apparently baseball players' involvement with video games goes further than Guitar Hero related injuries. An Orange County Register story reveals that games like Sony's MLB '07 The Show have "virtually become required playing in every clubhouse and on the PSPs players use to pass travel time."

The little factoid is unattributed, but probably came from Mets third baseman and The Show cover star David Wright, who goes on to explain the game's usefulness as a tool for checking out the competition. "Pitchers throw the curves and sliders they're known for and hitters chase what they chase in the game. It's like scouting," Wright said. Does anyone else miss the days when sports games were more about accessible fun and less about being virtually indistinguishable from their real life counterparts?
