After releasing its first episode last May, Renegade Kid's Moon Chronicles is finally ready to receive episodes two, three and four. Creator Jools Watsham revealed on Twitter that Nintendo has approved the episodes and "it's looking like" all three will hit the 3DS eShop on February 5. A "season pass" will be available for $9 to purchase every episode or, according to Nintendo's Moon Chronicles page, individual episodes can be had for $4.50 apiece. The first episode, which also includes special VR missions, remains $8.99.

For those who missed its debut last year, Moon Chronicles is a remake of Renegade Kid's DS first-person shooter, Moon, with improved visuals and 3D support. Also, as Watsham points out, the DLC arrives a week before the launch of the New 3DS, which should give players a reason to use that fancy C-stick.
It's a steady week on the eShop ahead of this month's big kahuna - that's Mario Kart 8, by the way - but there are games that may pique your interest. Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is an unusual shoot-em-up in that you move by scrolling along magnetic rails on the walls - oh, and you're shooting mechanized rats while trying to save all the world's cats. It's out for the Wii U this week, while Wii Party U gets a belated eShop release too.

Over on the handheld, there's the debut of Renegade Kid's enhanced episodic remake of Moon Chronicles (the first episode's priced $9 while the upcoming three chapters are $2 each). Also, Capcom's Mega May continues with Game Boy platformer Mega Man 4.

Don't forget Atlus is discounting the two Etrian Odyssey games on 3DS at $20 each, and that sale ends on Monday, May 19. On the same day, a new one starts for Code of Princess and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked, down to $15 each until June 5.

The first chapter of Moon Chronicles, Renegade Kid's episodic, visually-upgraded remake of its 2009 first-person shooter for the DS, will make contact with the 3DS eShop on May 15. The game's official Twitter account transmitted the release date's signal this week, reminding us that the first portion of the 3D-enabled Moon Chronicles will cost $8.99.

If the initial chapter's price is a bit steep to you, know that three additional DLC chapters will be offered for $1.99 apiece. Each episode carries four chapters of the original game, with the base $8.99 offering also including six VR missions. If the incoming content is received well enough, Renegade Kid has plans to offer a second season's worth sometime next year, with all-new content taking place after the original game's story.

Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid announced that it is developing Moon Chronicles, a 3DS remake of its 2009 Nintendo DS first-person shooter Moon.

Moon Chronicles will be visually upgraded to take advantage of the 3DS's wider top screen, and will run at 60 frames per second in both 2D and 3D modes. Chronicles will also include Circle Pad Pro support, allowing for traditional twin-stick control options.

The game will be released episodically via Nintendo's eShop this spring, with the first four-hour episode priced at $8.99. Three additional DLC chapters, each offering about 2 additional hours of gameplay, will be available at launch for $1.99 apiece. If Moon Chronicles proves successful, Renegade hopes to release an all-new second season of content next year that takes place after Moon's storyline.

Moon Chronicles joins Renegade Kid's growing stable of projects, which include the side-scrolling platformer Treasurenauts and the survival horror game Cult County. A Mutant Mudds sequel is also in the works, though development is currently on hold pending the completion of Treasurenauts.
Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid reveals Moon Chronicles for 3DS originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 24 Jan 2014 13:30:00 EST.
