Right now, if you purchase the Wi-Fi model of the PS Vita, you'll get a free copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/deja-review-mortal-kombat-vita/"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>, along with a 4GB memory card - which will hold you over just fine until you order a more reasonably-sized card.<br /><br /><em>Mortal Kombat </em>seems like an odd choice for a console pack-in, given its status as both a port and a super-gross violent game, but it is at least a <em>good</em> game! Prospective Vita owners have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/27/playstation-vita-first-edition-bundle-be-an-earlier-adopter-on/">not</a> always been so fortunate.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/07/buy-a-vita-get-free-mortal-kombat-and-4gb-memory-card/">Buy a Vita, get free Mortal Kombat and 4GB memory card</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 May 2012 12:00:00 EST. As this latest trailer shows, the results can get positively <em>wacky</em>.<br /><br />Fear not though, fighting purists. Most of the truly outrageous stuff, like tilting the Vita to balance Skarlett over a pit of spikes while skulls are thrown at her, is relegated to the Vita-specific Challenge Tower, which introduces 150 new trials and tribulations designed specifically for Sony's handheld.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/18/new-mortal-kombat-trailer-shows-off-vita-centric-gameplay/">New Mortal Kombat trailer shows off Vita-centric gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 18 Mar 2012 11:00:00 EST. According to the manual included with both versions, the game's tag team modes allow you and a local friend to sign on to the same console and fight against two other people online; your buddy presses start at the character select screen and off you go. In actuality, this functionality only exists in the PS3 version of the game.<br /><br />The issue has been <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/28972471/Will_2_player_local_co-op_(on_XBL)_be_patched_in_for_the_360_version_of_SFxT">acknowledged by </a><a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/28972471/Will_2_player_local_co-op_(on_XBL)_be_patched_in_for_the_360_version_of_SFxT">Christian Svensson</a> at Capcom, who stated that Capcom has no plans to patch the feature in, and that its inclusion in the manual was a mistake. "The reason for this difference is because of the architecture differences between [Xbox Live] gamertags and PSN IDs. I'm not sure of the technical details, but basically it amounts to: Sony made it so you can mix and match online and offline, and Microsoft made it so you can't."<br /><br />That sounded like a reasonable explanation, until we remembered that the 360 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> does that <em>exact thing</em>, allowing two local players to take part in tag-team battles online. If it's possible for NetherRealm Studios to include the feature in <em>Mortal Kombat</em> -- the MK studio's first release under the NetherRealm banner -- its exclusion from Capcom's brand-new flagship fighter seems strange at the very least.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/06/street-fighter-x-tekken-cant-take-local-teams-online-on-xbox-360/">Street Fighter X Tekken can't take local teams online on Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Mar 2012 17:00:00 EST. Now, "shipped" is a much different statistic than "sold," but it's a strong figure nonetheless.<br /><br />It's difficult to tell how Warner Bros. Interactive did on its own in 2011, since its financial results are lumped in with two other Time Warner subsidiaries, (Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. The PC version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection"><em>Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection</em></a> may be the world's first quantum video game. As we all know, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_linear_superposition">quantum superposition</a> tells us that any physical system (like an electron) exists in all possible states until observed or measured by an outside force. <em>Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection</em> seems to follow the same set of rules -- the only problem is that the game's observable state is different depending on who's looking.<br />
<br />
According to life-long Mortal Kombat shepherd Ed Boon, a PC version of <em>MKAK</em> <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/noobde/status/136111600032686081">never existed</a>. This directly contradicts the fighter's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/23/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-hits-xbla-psn-on-august-31/">original press release</a>, which announced the title for "PlayStation(R)Network, Xbox LIVE(R) Arcade for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC." Additionally, <a href="http://www.dsogaming.com/news/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-wont-be-coming-to-the-pc-after-all/">a statement made to DSOGaming</a> claims that the port has <em>not</em> been canceled, though no release date has been given.<br />
<br />
It's a lot like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat">Schr&ouml;dinger's cat</a>. We have no idea whether the project is dead or alive. We have reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: So when Ed Boon said that <em>MKAK</em> never existed, it turns out he <em>actually</em> meant that it <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/noobde/status/136523187646251009">totally exists</a>, albeit with no announced release date. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/03/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-pc-exists-doesnt-exist/">Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (PC) exists, depending on who you ask [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 03 Dec 2011 21:30:00 EST. Those of you with fragile, tenuous grips on reality should cover your eyes for the rest of this article. Covered? Okay good, because according to Sony's PSN sales charts for September, we live in a world where 19-year-old Mortal Kombat games outsell Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Castlevania <em>and</em> Final Fantasy games. We know, we're suddenly very worried about 2012 as well.<br />
<br />
Head on past the break for the complete sales rundown, and if you're one of the many folks who purchased <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection"><em>Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection</em></a> during the month of September, know that <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/noobde/status/122418850380779520">they're working on it</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/09/mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-tops-sept-psn-sales-charts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection tops Sept. Did you like Kevin Tancharoen's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mortal-kombat-legacy"><em>Mortal Kombat: Legacy</em></a> web series? New Line Cinema evidently did, as it's hired Tancharoen to direct a new film based on the bloody franchise. So, to sum up, that one self-produced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/live-action-mortal-kombat-digital-series/">"Rebirth" short</a> got Tancharoen a job first as a web series director, and now on a feature film. The movie will reportedly feature a more "realistic" version of the Mortal Kombat characters, like the dead ninja who controls fire and the monk with the razor-sharp hat.<br />
<br />
"The new game and the online shorts have prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn't been actively thinking about," New Line president Toby Emmerich told the <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2011/09/mortal-kombat-movie-coming-as-warner-video-game-and-new-line-units-partner.html">LA Times</a>. So, the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011">rebooted game series</a> gave him the idea to reboot the film series.<br />
<br />
The fate of this new film isn't entirely assured, however. The film rights to the series are still in question, following ongoing lawsuits between Warner and Lawrence Kasanoff, a producer on the previous <em>MK</em> movies. Not even Shao Kahn himself can defeat the lawyers of Earthrealm.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/29/new-mortal-kombat-movie-coming-from-mk-legacy-director/">New Mortal Kombat movie coming from MK Legacy director</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Sep 2011 17:15:00 EST. As we've discussed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/27/super-street-fighter-iv-arcade-edition-ver-2012-character-ch/">before</a>, fighting games make use of a language unique to the genre: Terms like "OTG" and "yomi" are common across the pantheon of games that populate the modern fighting scene. Within that universal language, however, are several distinct and established dialects, each centered around a different title or series. For instance, in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>'s vernacular, there is no word more offensive or infuriating than "desynchronization."</div>
<br />
The desynchronization error, a plague upon both systems that was eventually quarantined to Xbox Live, caused matches to disconnect after selecting specific DLC costumes, alternate costumes, and default costumes. Thankfully though, the <a href="http://boards.themortalkombat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=3&amp;t=27361&amp;p=623511#p623511">latest patch</a> pushed by NetherRealm Studios seems to have finally cured the pandemic: we tested Scorpion's Klassic Kostume DLC and encountered zero errors, which is a massive improvement over the one-hundred percent guaranteed desynch rate associated with the costume previously.<br />
<br />
The patch also provides some desperately needed mechanical tweaks and balancing adjustments, and while many of those changes are undocumented, you can peep a list of the important stuff after the break. Amazon has dropped a selection of Lightning Deals on us, and while we can't be 100% sure of the identities of all the mystery deals (and less sure of the prices) it looks like there's enough stuff in there that you'll want to keep an Amazon window open, and an alarm clock set.<br />
<br />
Right now, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003GSKR0G?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER"><em>F.E.A.R. 3</em></a> is $20 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Upcoming discounts include <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/grand-theft-auto-4"><em>GTA IV</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>, and what is likely <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise">No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise</a>.</em> To round out the deal while flattening your tummy, the ongoing Deal of the Day is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=xs_gb_A2ZO797G8K454K?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000208101&amp;pf_rd_p=441937901&amp;pf_rd_s=right-1&amp;pf_rd_t=701&amp;pf_rd_i=20&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=19Z43KVCY3SRDEQM19HG"><em>Zumba Fitness</em></a> for Wii or Xbox 360.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/20/s-a-v-3-on-games-all-day-with-amazon-lightning-deals/">S.A.V.3. on games all day with Amazon Lightning Deals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Sep 2011 10:15:00 EST. When Midway <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/23/midway-liquidation-plan-approved-by-court/">bit the bullet and liquidated all of its assets</a> during the first half of last year, the future of one of gaming's most ubiquitous and legendary franchises, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>, was completely up in the air. People didn't know whether or not <em>MK</em>'s new baby-daddy at Warner Bros. Interactive would continue the series' proud tradition of increasingly ludicrous violence, or if it would continue the stagnating series <em>period</em>.<br />
<br />
Fast-forward a bit, and thankfully it seems to have worked out for history's favorite murderers, with Warner's first entry in the franchise garnering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/24/mortal-kombat-review/#review">critical acclaim</a> and <em>millions of dollars</em>. According to WB Interactive President Martin Tremblay, <em>Mortal Kombat</em> has already paid for all of the assets acquired from Midway by selling "close to" 3 million units worldwide.<br />
<br />
To put that number in perspective, as of June 30, 2011 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4"><em>Super Street Fighter 4</em></a> has sold 1.6 million units, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em></a> has sold 2 million, both of which have been on the market for a significantly longer amount of time. Considering the sorry state of affairs that <em>Mortal Kombat</em> was left in as little as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-vs-dc-universe">two years ago</a>, we can't help but be a little surprised by the modern-day, gore-soaked Cinderella story this saga has become.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/13/mortal-kombat-sells-close-to-3-million-worldwide-has-paid-for/">Mortal Kombat sells 'close to' 3 million worldwide, has paid for itself</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 13 Aug 2011 16:30:00 EST. <br />
This year's <a href="http://evo2k.com/">EVO Championship Series</a> was <em>bonkers</em>, you guys. Not only did MVC legend Justin Wong get <em>perfected </em>into third place during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 3</em></a> grand finals, but <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daigo_Umehara">The Beast</a> took a bewildering fourth place in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition"><em>Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition</em></a>, ending two consecutive years of first-place victories.<br />
<br />
This was also the first EVO ever to feature a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> game, which is a major victory for both NetherRealm Studios and the <em>MK</em> kommunity. Historically, <em>Mortal Kombat</em> titles have never been considered balanced or polished enough to participate in high-level tournaments, and EVO's seal of approval goes a long way in legitimizing <em>Mortal Kombat</em> in the eyes of the fighting community.<br />
<br />
Check out the highlights reel above for some incredible displays of skill, dedication, and <em>heart</em>, and be sure to peep the full list of winners and finalists <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/#continued">after the break</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVO 2011 Results Roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/">EVO 2011 Results Roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 14:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>'s newest kombatant certainly came as a surprise to the seasoned <em>MK</em> vets here at Joystiq; we were expecting <a href="http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Tanya">Tanya</a>, or maybe even <a href="http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Meat">Meat</a>, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/freddy-krueger-haunting-mortal-kombat-august-9/">Krueger</a>? Dude wasn't even on our radar, let alone our fantasy character selection screens. As out-of-left-field as his inclusion seems to us, series co-founder <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ed-Boon">Ed Boon</a> says that slasher villains have always been on the table as potential new characters.<br />
<br />
"Over the years, we've certainly had a number of conversations about guest characters," said Boon during <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/07/22/ed-boon-talks-freddy-krueger-in-mortal-kombat-secret-origins-of-dlc-characters/">an interview with PlayStation Blog</a>. "A number of names were run by us: Jason, Michael Meyers [sic] and all those guys. Freddy Kreuger, we felt, was the most instantly recognizable and he fits in with <em>Mortal Kombat</em> with his claws." We think they made the right choice; why would anyone put the guy from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108174/"><em>So I Married An Axe Murderer</em></a> in a <em>Mortal Kombat</em> game?

<a href="http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Rain">Rain</a>, former denizen of Edenia and walking <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Rain_(song)">Prince reference</a>, will be joining the twenty-first century on July 19 as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>'s third DLC character.<br />

Half god, half severe weather alert, Rain originally debuted in <em>Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. </em>It looks like he's retained all of his <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0gjc8B9vDc">old tricks</a>, including his lightning bolt, water levitate, and magical-compulsory-teleportation feet. Save for die-hard enthusiast institutions scattered across the country, North America's casual-arcade scene has all but disappeared. Thankfully, this sad reality hasn't stopped hobbyists from showing us the world that could have been, by creating their own <em>what-if</em> dream machines.<br />
<br />
Hot on the heels of last week's custom <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/04/man-upgrades-mortal-kombat-3-cabinet-with-xbox-360-pdp-sticks/"><em>Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate Edition </em>cabinet</a> comes <a href="http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13645">BadBoyBill</a>'s truly stunning <em>kabinet</em> for this year's <em>Mortal Kombat</em>. While last week's (still quite impressive) <em>MK3U</em> cab was an upgraded unit from a bygone era, BBB's creation is an entirely custom-built labor of love, featuring a 42-inch screen and a 10-inch subwoofer. Hit the source link for all the nitty-gritty build details, as well as photos of the unit under construction.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NetherRealm-Studios">NetherRealm Studio</a>'s pallet-swap parade continues to march through blood-splattered streets, as July 5 marks the introduction of another set of complimentary <em>Klassic Kostumes </em>for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>'s two most gray-scale-iest fighters.<br />
<br />
Included in the fighter's forthcoming Compatibility Pack 2, designed to make systems ready for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/01/dont-turn-a-blind-eye-to-mortal-kombats-kenshi/">Kenshi DLC</a> dropping the same day, these costumes allow Noob Saibot and Smoke to join in with the rest of the ninja clan's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/19/mortal-kombats-old-school-and-free-sektor-and-cyrax-skins-re/">retro</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/27/mortal-kombat-klassic-skins-dlc-trailer-makes-us-miss-padded-ves/">reindeer games</a>. For now though, enjoying murdering hundreds of people in a slightly different outfit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/03/free-klassic-noob-and-smoke-with-mortal-kombat-compatibility-pac/">Free Klassic Noob and Smoke with Mortal Kombat Compatibility Pack 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 03 Jul 2011 19:45:00 EST. If there's one thing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> has been missing, it's a blind swordsman that uses ghosts to murder people. Thankfully, series-semi-veteran Kenshi will be arriving July 5 to fill that void in our violent little hearts. Check out his ultra-bloody debut trailer after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/kenshi-slices-into-mortal-kombat-july-5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kenshi slices into Mortal Kombat July 5</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/kenshi-slices-into-mortal-kombat-july-5/">Kenshi slices into Mortal Kombat July 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jun 2011 22:00:00 EST. It looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/21/skarlet-enters-the-mortal-kombat-arena-today-kombat-pass-also-a/">Skarlet's</a> bloody journey into <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> has been a tough one. Downloading the new fighter has been tricky for European PS3 users, specifically because Skarlet was never actually added to the PlayStation Store. Rather than Skarlet, the latest update featured a new costume pack -- which was listed at nearly twice the price of the same pack in the US.<br />
<br />
Warner Bros. has <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/WB_Games_UK/status/83885244058574848">responded</a> to the issue on Twitter, stating that "some technical issues" caused the problem and that Skarlet will not be available until next week. Furthermore, the price of the costume pack will be <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/WB_Games_UK/status/83888796927668224">corrected</a> to &pound;3.19 in the UK and &euro;3.99 for the rest of Europe.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, in North America, users have been reporting that the Kombat Pass isn't functioning properly on Xbox Live. Once redeemed, Skarlet appears on Xbox Live for 1200 MS Points ($15) -- three times the standalone price -- instead of being free. We've contacted Warner Bros. about the issue.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, Netherrealm Studios community manager Rigo Cortes has posted a <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/NinjaBoy66/status/83315403991945218">workaround</a> on Twitter, stating, "If Skarlet DLC is incorrectly showing up as 1200MS points in the game store, exit the game [and] go to the XBL store [through] the console."<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Warner Bros. has responded to Joystiq, noting that the problems reported by North American Xbox Live users have been "rectified." Those who ran into issues earlier this week should now find everything as it should be.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/mortal-kombat-skarlet-dlc-problems-reported-in-north-america-and/">Mortal Kombat Skarlet DLC problems reported in North America and Europe [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jun 2011 15:15:00 EST. That <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/la-noire"><em>LA Noire</em></a> "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/la-noire-dlc/">Rockstar Pass</a>" must be working out, because WB looked at the concept and said "get over here" for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>. The publisher just announced the "Kombat Pass" which allows you to pay ahead of time for all four DLC characters, including Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain, and one more unannounced character. Each character costs 400 points ($5) on their own; the pack runs 1200 points ($15) and will be available alongside the release of the Skarlet character on June 21.<br />
<br />
This is an Xbox 360-exclusive offer; if you want more virtual murderers in the PS3 version, you'll have to buy them individually.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/17/mortal-kombat-season-pass-discounts-dlc-for-xbox/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mortal Kombat 'Season Pass' discounts DLC for Xbox</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/17/mortal-kombat-season-pass-discounts-dlc-for-xbox/">Mortal Kombat 'Season Pass' discounts DLC for Xbox</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Jun 2011 11:15:00 EST. Before you indulge that sudden, irresistible desire to purchase two recent PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 games, allow us to pass along some helpful information. Best Buy is offering a buy one, get one half-off deal on several PS3 and Xbox 360 games including <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dirt-3"><em>Dirt 3</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/portal-2"><em>Portal 2</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em></a>, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/red-faction-armageddon">Red Faction: Armageddon</a></em>, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/crysis-2"><em>Crysis 2</em></a>.<br />
<br />
You could even double up on <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever">Duke Nukem Forever</a> </em>and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/homefront"><em>Homefront</em></a>, if that's what you're into for some reason. Regardless of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/13/metareview-duke-nukem-forever/">critical response</a> to the Duke, it's pretty impressive to get a 50% off deal on a brand new game like that ... right?<br />

NetherRealm Studios head and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> <strike>co-creator</strike> ko-kreator Ed Boon has revealed via <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/noobde/status/73447795331305473">his Twitter feed</a> that all of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/13/mortal-kombat-koming-april-2011-special-editions-announced/">the retailer-specific pre-order DLC</a> released for the series' ninth installment will soon be made available as one downloadable, for-pay kollection. "The 7 Klassic outfits &amp; 3 Klassic fatalities that were retailer exclusives will be bundled into one DLC package," Boon writes. "Trailer coming on Friday."<br />
<br />
For those who haven't been keeping tabs on said content, it includes "classic" variants of Ermac, Jade, Kitana, Mileena, Reptile, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, along with additional fatalities for Reptile, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Hopefully Friday's trailer will be accompanied by a date and price, so we can note it on our kalendars and put aside some kash.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/25/mortal-kombat-retailer-exclusive-dlc-koming-for-all/">Mortal Kombat retailer-exclusive DLC koming for all</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 May 2011 20:20:00 EST. The PlayStation 3 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> is seeing the end of an irksome <strong>TECHNICALITY</strong>: the "Kombat Pass," a token that is required for online play but cannot be redeemed while the PlayStation Store is offline, is being temporarily waived. Up until now, the pool of online combatants was limited to those who hastily activated their passes right before the PSN fell into a coma in late April.<br />
<br />
Writing on <em>Mortal Kombat</em>'s official Facebook page, NetherRealm Studios confirmed that the game's online component should now be unlocked for all players, though it'll be cordoned off as soon as Sony re-opens the PlayStation Store (possibly by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/playstation-store-expected-back-online-next-tuesday/">next week</a>). The Kombat Pass code is included with all new copies of <em>Mortal Kombat</em>, and can be purchased separately for $9.99 once a free trial period expires.<br />
<br />
If you own a used copy of NetherRealm's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/24/mortal-kombat-review/">well-received revamp</a>, you now have an entire weekend to gauge the value of pulverizing pelvises over the internet.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/20/mortal-kombat-waives-kombat-pass-until-playstation-store-retur/">Mortal Kombat waives 'Kombat Pass' until PlayStation Store returns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 May 2011 20:00:00 EST. <em>Portal 2</em> nabbed the top spot on the UK software sales chart last week, followed by Warner Bros. Interactive's <em>Mortal Kombat</em> reboot in second place. According to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1078&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a>, <em>Portal 2</em> was actually Valve's first ever <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">all-formats</a> chart topper -- the closest the company ever got to the crown was with <em>The Orange Box</em>, which reached third place.<br />
<br />
<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em> "price promotions" in the region caused Activision's behemoth to jump back into the the top three, followed by last week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/zumba-keeps-on-dancing-atop-uk-charts/">chart topper,<em> Zumba Fitness</em></a>, which still increased sales by 10 percent last week. The top five was rounded out by the blockheads of <em>Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars</em>.<br />
<br />
<em>Operation Flashpoint: Red River</em> also had a solid debut, entering the charts in sixth place. Check out the full top ten after the break.<br />

The <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwO5I4QXmuc">Machinima</a> clip posted after the jump is, in many ways, <em>deplorable</em>. It shows some of our most beloved game characters of all time brutally fatality-ing a number of <em>Mortal Kombat</em> fighters, and we're finding it difficult to shake. On the other hand, we've gotta have that <em>NBA Jam</em> cameo. We <em>need</em> it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/mortal-kombat-secret-character-tryouts-may-disturb-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mortal Kombat secret character tryouts may disturb you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/mortal-kombat-secret-character-tryouts-may-disturb-you/">Mortal Kombat secret character tryouts may disturb you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Apr 2011 01:38:00 EST. Planning to be in Vegas later this summer and know a thing or three about pulling off Fatalities? Good news: <a href="http://pdptournaments.com/">PDP Tournaments</a> is coming to Bally's in Las Vegas on May 14 through 15, and is bringing along $21,000 in prize money for a <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> tournament.<br />
<br />
All you need to do to enter is <a href="http://pdptournaments.com/">sign up on the event's website</a> (though you'll need to book a place to stay if you're not from around there, of course). The tourney will be played using <a href="http://www.pdp.com/mkstick/">official PDP <em>Mortal Kombat</em> joysticks</a>, so you've got the option to shell out $129.99 at sign-up for your own to practice on.<br />
<br />
The event sounds exciting: double elimination over two days of nothing but <em>MK</em>. Good luck to everyone who enters; we'll help you <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egne2ZCMM_0">start psyching up right now</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/05/mortal-kombat-tournament-koming-to-ballys-las-vegas-may-14-15/">Mortal Kombat tournament koming to Bally's Las Vegas May 14-15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 09:00:00 EST. Warner Bros. may be following in the (very large) footsteps of Electronic Arts and THQ when it comes to discouraging -- or at least profiting from -- the sale of used games. Joystiq has learned from a tipster that when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> hits shelves on April 19, its box will include an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/online-pass">"online pass" token</a> that must be redeemed before playing online. At present, WBIE evidently intends to do the same for its high-profile releases <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fear-3"><em>F.E.A.R. 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a>. Since the latter won't feature multiplayer, though, the token would have to unlock some other (equally attractive) content.<br />
<br />
According to an email obtained from our source, which appears intended for retailers, WBIE won't be promoting the pass -- in fact, no reference to it will appear on the game's packaging. Instead, it is apparently providing retailers with details on the pass, including how to purchase a new one if you're buying a used copy of the game. Unsurprisingly, a new pass will run 800 Microsoft Points / $10 for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively. As with EA's titles, there will be a free two-day "trial period" before players are prompted to either enter the code or purchase a pass. We've contacted WBIE for comment on this information. You can find an excerpt from the retailer email past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rumor-warner-bros-joining-online-pass-camp-with-mortal-komba/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rumor: Warner Bros. joining 'online pass' camp with Mortal Kombat</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rumor-warner-bros-joining-online-pass-camp-with-mortal-komba/">Rumor: Warner Bros. joining 'online pass' camp with Mortal Kombat</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Mar 2011 21:00:00 EST. Wait, you mean to tell us that even though the game hasn't actually come out yet, you're already bored with the roster of fighters included in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>? How is that even possible? Regardless, you don't need to worry -- Netherrealm's Hans Lo recently revealed to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/295504/news/mortal-kombat-dlc-characters-revealed/">CVG</a> that two new kombatants are already in the works for post-launch DLC: Series regular Kenshi, and "Scarlet," a fully fleshed-out character based on a glitch in the old Mortal Kombat arcade machines, which turned Jade, Kitana and Milena blood red.</div>
<br />
Lo explained, "People always thought it was a hidden unlockable character and it wasn't, it was purely a programming glitch." He added, "She's no longer a glitch - she's an actual character, and she'll be coming pretty soon post-launch." We wish other developers were this sentimental about their earlier mistakes -- maybe then we could finally get that <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggB33d0BLcY">Laddergoat</a> game we've always dreamed of.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/27/mortal-kombats-first-two-downloadable-fighters-revealed/">Mortal Kombat's first two downloadable fighters revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 27 Mar 2011 16:30:00 EST. We know what some of you are thinking: Raiden from <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> is in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>? <em>Boss</em>! PS3 owners will be able to download a demo of the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> game next week ... provided they have a PlayStation Plus subscription. On March 8th, PS+ users will be able to get an early look at the revamped fighting series. In addition, Plus subscribers will get 50% off all winners of the PSN <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/16/psn-gamers-choice-awards/">Gamers' Choice Awards</a>.<br />
<br />
Non-Plus subscribers will be able to download the <em>Mortal Kombat</em> demo the following week, on March 15th. The demo will be available "<a href="http://games.premierpr.com/link.asp?i=210&amp;r=5125&amp;r2=3086">later</a>" on Xbox 360. Warner Bros. Interactive's Australian arm will appeal the RC (Refused Classification) "unrating" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/25/mortal-kombat-refused-classification-in-australia/">bestowed</a> upon <em>Mortal Kombat</em> by the Australian Classification Review Board. The designation prevents the game from being sold by retailers in the country.<br />
<br />
"After reviewing both the gameplay and the Board's original decision, WBIE Australia believe the violence in the game is on par with numerous other titles readily available for sale in the Australian market," reads the publisher's statement, obtained by <a href="http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/115/1152912p1.html">IGN AU</a>. "As such, the company wants to exhaust all options to make the game available to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> fans in this country. An identical version of the game will be submitted for appeal."<br />
<br />
Two years ago, Valve resubmitted an unedited version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a> to the Aussie classification board in an appeal to an earlier RC ruling and ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/22/unedited-left-4-dead-2-refused-aussie-classification-for-second/">lost</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/02/mortal-kombat-publisher-appealing-aussie-refused-classification/">Mortal Kombat publisher appealing Aussie 'Refused Classification' decision</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Mar 2011 11:40:00 EST. Warner Bros. today confirmed the initial casting for the <em>Mortal Kombat</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/live-action-mortal-kombat-digital-series/">live-action digital series</a>, which began shooting in Vancouver this month. Both Jeri Ryan (who <a href="http://twitter.com/JeriLRyan/status/34343834640982017">spilled the beans</a> last week on Twitter) and Michael Jai White will reprise their roles as Sonya Blade and Jax, respectively, from last year's "unofficial fan short" <em>Mortal Kombat: Rebirth</em> -- which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/08/mortal-kombat-rebirth-footage-gets-over-here/">actually</a> a totally professional pitch for a reimagined <em>MK</em> film, made by director Kevin Tancharoen. (While he didn't land the movie deal, Tancharoen did secure a gig directing, producing and co-writing the upcoming digital shorts.)<br />
<br />
Joining the duo of do-gooders will be Kano, played by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004540/">Darren Shahlavi</a>, who voiced one of the Tier 1 Operators in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/medal-of-honor-2010"><em>Medal of Honor</em></a> and was an uncredited "Persian" in <em>300</em> -- so, <em>obviously,</em> dude knows how to fight. Surely, punches will be thrown and blood will be spilled as Tancharoen and cast resolve this storied love triangle in a hurry.<br />
<br />
The <em>Mortal Kombat</em> digital series is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/31/mortal-kombat-live-action-series-to-span-9-episodes/">expected</a> to span nine short episodes and will also feature Scorpion, Sub-Zero and additional characters from the game's universe. The shorts will be "available online" this spring, in conjunction with the April 19 release of the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> game. "BTW, just finished reading the whole script for <em>Mortal Kombat,</em>" Ryan recently <a href="http://twitter.com/JeriLRyan/status/34558051939778561">tweeted</a>. "Holy crap... I think u might just love it."<br />

During a Level|Up Live event, Mad Catz's Mark "MarkMan" Julio unveiled Mad Catz's novel <em>Mortal Kombat</em> solution: a replacement panel for current Tournament Edition <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fightstick">FightSticks</a>, allowing you to have arcade-perfect controls for multiple games with the same stick.<br />
<br />
The <em>Mortal Kombat</em> "Kombat Fight Stick Ultimate Edition Panel" allows users to replace the button layout of the edition Tournament Edition FightStick with one that approximates the classic <em>Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3</em> arcade panel, which is also used in the new <em>Mortal Kombat</em>. The buttons are a little closer together in this version for the sake of ergonomics.<br />
<br />
No price or release date was announced, but the panel will be available from Mad Catz's <a href="http://store.gameshark.com/?utm_source=GS_Text&amp;utm_medium=website">online store</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/06/mad-catz-making-replacement-fightstick-panel-for-mortal-kombat/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mad Catz making replacement FightStick panel for Mortal Kombat</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/06/mad-catz-making-replacement-fightstick-panel-for-mortal-kombat/">Mad Catz making replacement FightStick panel for Mortal Kombat</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Feb 2011 17:00:00 EST. Director Kevin Tancharoen is planning to film nine episodes, running between seven and ten minutes each, for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/live-action-mortal-kombat-digital-series/">live-action </a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/live-action-mortal-kombat-digital-series/">Mortal Kombat</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/live-action-mortal-kombat-digital-series/"> series</a> that was announced by Warner Bros. earlier this month. In an interview with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/32667/Interview_Tancharoen_On_Mortal_Kombats__Sudden_Screen_Rebirth.php">Gamasutra</a>, Tancharoen says that the sure-to-be-violent vignettes will delve into the spiky backgrounds of <em>Mortal Kombat's</em> characters, with more prominent fixtures (like Scorpion) possibly warranting two-part stories. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Vancouver this February.<br />
<br />
Tancharoen gained the attention of franchise fans and the media after the release of test footage from his <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/08/mortal-kombat-rebirth-footage-gets-over-here/">Mortal Kombat: Rebirth</a></em>, a gritty, modernized spin that ditched cross-dimensional tournaments, goateed sorcerers and hell ninjas for something even more outlandish: a guy eating refrigerated heads and an undercover agent who used to be a<em> movie star</em>.<br />
<br />
Wait -- make that the <em>unintentional</em> release of the <em>Rebirth</em> test footage. "It was still in its rough phase, but I couldn't send a 2GB file over email, so my friend said I could create a private page on YouTube and sent [<em>sic</em>] it to him to review," Tancharoen recalls. "It turns out it wasn't that private."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/31/mortal-kombat-live-action-series-to-span-9-episodes/">Mortal Kombat live-action series to span 9 episodes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Jan 2011 18:00:00 EST. Last summer's "unofficial" <em>Mortal Kombat: Rebirth</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/08/mortal-kombat-rebirth-footage-gets-over-here/">test footage</a> has landed its director, Kevin Tancharoen, a job with Warner Bros. While <em>Rebirth</em> won't become a full-length feature film (you <em>can't</em> kill off Johnny Cage like that!), Warner apparently saw something in the <em>imaginative</em> re-imagination of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/26/warner-bros-was-the-only-one-interested-in-midway/">its new</a> aging fighting game franchise. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/15/gritty-mortal-kombat-concept-trailer-getting-a-webisode-series/">reported</a> earlier this month, Tancharoen will helm a series of live-action <em>Mortal Kombat</em> digital shorts, which will be released in conjunction with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011">the new game</a> (launching April 19) "this spring through online digital retailers." Does that mean we have to pay for them?<br />
<br />
Warner teased that the digital series, to commence (crunch time) filming in Vancouver early next month, will provide "never-before-revealed insights" into the characters from the new game and its "universe," including Liu Kang and, of course, the beloved Johnny Cage (you see, Tancharoen?). The company will reveal further details shortly, including casting (and, hopefully, the fact that these webisodes will be totally, 100 percent free -- right Warner?). It's been reported that Michael Jai White will reprise his <em>Rebirth</em> role as Jax.<br />

<br />
"Mad Catz did some good work with the Tournament Edition (<em>Street Fighter IV</em>) sticks," Block told <a href="http://kotaku.com/5713975/designer-makes-an-american-fighting-stick-for-an-american-fighting-game">Kotaku</a>, "but those are Japanese style sticks for a Japanese game. We thought it would be a lot of fun to respond with an American style stick for an American fighting franchise." That's why the <em>MK</em> stick has parts more traditionally associated with American arcade machines: a bat-top stick instead of a ball-top, concave buttons instead of convex, and parts made by Happ instead of Sanwa. That should make it the ideal stick for the American <em>Mortal Kombat </em>-- and only for <em>Mortal Kombat</em>, thanks to the wacky button layout that game uses.<br />
<br />
Other design elements aren't so much America-focused as just nice. The internal components are encased in easily removable transparent plastic for modding, and the bottom of the stick has a memory foam pad for comfortable use on your lap.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/16/pdp-discusses-american-style-design-of-mortal-kombat-arcade-stic/">PDP discusses American-style design of Mortal Kombat arcade stick</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Dec 2010 22:00:00 EST.
