Single-player leaderboards, player-created track leaderboards, and multiplayer ranks won't be affected by this change.<br /><br />RedLynx recommends that players stay out of multiplayer for four to six hours after the update, in order to make sure that any scores earned are recorded correctly. What else can you do between the hours of two and eight AM? Sleeping is one option. Just throwing that out there.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/trials-evolution-getting-bugfix-update-resetting-multiplayer-le/">Trials Evolution getting bugfix update, resetting multiplayer leaderboards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 22:00:00 EST. So, since everyone has <em>finished </em>the entire <em>Max Payne 3</em> campaign, Rockstar is mixing up multiplayer gameplay with a free DLC pack for Xbox Live and PSN, titled "Gorilla Warfare."<br /><br />The Gorilla Warfare pack contains a gorilla mask, which gives players extra adrenaline for melee kills from behind; the lucky coin, giving players extra booty for looting bodies; and the booby trap item, which has players' corpses explode when they're looted.<br /><br />The Rockstar Pass is also now available for download on Xbox Live and PSN. The Rockstar Pass gives players all of the <em>Max Payne 3</em> DLC for a one-time price of $30. These offers will hit PC on launch day, May 29.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/theres-already-some-max-payne-3-dlc-and-its-free/">There's already some Max Payne 3 DLC, and it's free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 May 2012 17:00:00 EST. The <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/max-payne-3">Max Payne 3</a> </em>Classic Multiplayer Character pack allows players to control eight beloved killers in the online Deathmatch mode, and comes standard in the Special Edition. The pack will be available for stand-alone purchase later on.<br /><br />The Classic Multiplayer Character pack includes Vladimir "Vlad" Lem, Vincent "Vinnie" Gognitti, Jack Lupino, Alfred Woden, Mona Sax, Valerie Winterson, Nicole Horne and <em>Max Payne 2</em>'s NYPD detective version of Max Payne.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/14/murderers-row-max-payne-3s-classic-multiplayer-character-pack/">Murderer's Row: Max Payne 3's Classic Multiplayer Character Pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 May 2012 16:30:00 EST. Well, the promise of more updates in the future, at any rate.<br /><br />In addition to an Advanced Settings menu and various other gameplay tweaks, Patch 1.11 reintroduces two features from <em>Uncharted 2</em>'s multiplayer functionality: The Lab and Elimination Mode. The Lab, which is more of a playlist than a gameplay mode itself, contains unique variants of other multiplayer modes. It's set to launch with a T-bolt/Pistole-only version of Team Deathmatch, with "other game types" to be added "as the year progresses," according to Naughty Dog's <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/05/11/uncharted-3-patch-1-11-notes-the-lab-returns-elimination-mode-and-more/">patch notes</a>.<br /><br />Elimination Mode splits players into two teams of five, with the obvious goal being to <em>eliminate</em> the opposing team. Unlike Team Deathmatch, however, players do not respawn during Elimination Mode matches - victory is claimed once one team has been fulled killed three out of five times.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/12/uncharted-3-patch-1-11-brings-back-elimination-mode-the-lab/">Uncharted 3 Patch 1.11 brings back Elimination Mode, 'The Lab'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 May 2012 19:30:00 EST. In-game, a screen prompts players to "play the game in High Definition mode" for split-screen multiplayer.<br /><br />Notch wasn't aware that local multiplayer wouldn't work with standard-definition TVs, he <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/200589998909698049">tweeted</a> and apologized to a fan today.<br /><br />Port developer 4J Studios has justified the HD requirement on <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/4JStudios/status/200212838139179008">Twitter</a>: "The inventory and crafting just didn't work in splitscreen Standard Definition - it was too small to make out."<br /><br />Some fans want a refund from Microsoft, saying they wouldn't have bought Minecraft if the HD requirement was clearer, but Microsoft is holding out on a few of them, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5909259/some-misled-xbox-minecraft-buyers-unable-to-get-refunds">Kotaku</a> reports.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/surprise-xbla-minecrafts-split-screen-multiplayer-requires-hdt/">Surprise: XBLA Minecraft's split-screen multiplayer requires HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2012 15:30:00 EST. Instead, they're more reminiscent of a film classic from 2002 set in Rio de Janeiro's poorest neighborhood, <em>City of God</em>. Take a look at the new multiplayer trailer above, then compare with a trailer for the film below the break. We think you'll see <em>more than a few</em> similarities.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/03/max-payne-3s-multiplayer-footage-gets-us-all-nostalgic/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Max Payne 3's multiplayer footage gets us all nostalgic</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/03/max-payne-3s-multiplayer-footage-gets-us-all-nostalgic/">Max Payne 3's multiplayer footage gets us all nostalgic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 16:45:00 EST. Sony, EA and BioWare are currently working toward a resolution.<br /><br />"We are currently working together with EA and BioWare on an implementation to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends to PS3," a Sony spokesperson told <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/article/73408/sony-working-on-mass-effect-3-multiplayer-solution">Shacknews</a>. When the free <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/10/psa-mass-effect-3-resurgence-pack-dlc-now-available/">Resurgence Pack DLC</a> launched last week, BioWare held <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/11/mass-effect-3-operation-resurgence-weekend-event-incentivizes/">a weekend promotion</a>, but said arrangements to bring it to PS3 <a href="http://blog.bioware.com/2012/04/11/operation-resurgence/">had not been completed with Sony</a>. It sounds like that may change soon enough, though exactly how the PS3 will make up for its lost promotions isn't known.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/sony-working-to-bring-mass-effect-3-multiplayer-events-to-ps3/">Sony working to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer events to PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Apr 2012 21:00:00 EST. Killing non-King players rewards points as per usual, although not as many as are gained by killing the King, who has a substantial bounty placed upon their heads. Said bounty increases with every successful kill the King accrues during the match, until their demise.<br /><br />Welch also detailed <em>Halo 4</em>'s ranking and unlockable abilities system: Players earn XP as they win, eventually leveling up and being rewarded with Spartan Points, which are in turn spent on new armor abilities. "Forerunner vision," which grants the ability to see through walls, as well as "hologram and active cammo" were named specifically, though we expect that's just the tip of the iceberg.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/16/halo-4s-multiplayer-introduces-regicide-mode-forerunner-vis/">Halo 4's multiplayer introduces 'Regicide' mode, 'Forerunner vision'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 18:30:00 EST. Namco Bandai has resolved one of these issues with update 1.1, which adds Bluetooth multiplayer support for "VS Battle" mode.<br /><br /><em>Soul Calibur</em> is <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id481958471?mt=8">on sale</a> for the update, dropped the price of three whole standard apps to $12. TSP can buff allies or hinder enemies through features such as psyche gas, which makes the opposing fighters see every person as a demon silhouette, with no reference for team assignment. Battle Cry offers a buff to team members and gives the activator a chunk of TSP.<br /><br />Each round has an optional map tutorial at its start and an interactive cutscene to end, wherein the top player from the winning team will have the option to beat the losing team to death or to free them. Domination mode seems to be a lesson in classic capture-point format, while Firestorm offers a more creative multiplayer approach, with the offensive team attempting to light two ignition points in the enemy's camp that will be doused with gasoline when the opposing team calls in air support -- unless the enemy secures its radio first.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/04/far-cry-3s-multiplayer-looks-as-fun-as-it-is-pretty/">Far Cry 3's multiplayer looks as fun as it is pretty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Apr 2012 14:30:00 EST. You want to know more about multiplayer in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resistance-burning-skies"><em>Resistance: Burning Skies</em></a>? Unfortunately, it seems that Sony isn't ready to share that info quite yet. After updating its game page with scant details on the game mode - Wi-fi-based "8-player online multiplayer across six unique maps and three modes" - Sony later removed said info.<br /><br />Presumably the details were meant for a coordinated marketing push ahead of the game's May 29 launch date, but, uh, well, here they are! We've reached out to Sony for more info, but don't expect to hear much until the stars align (and Sony is good and ready to say its piece).<br /><br />[Thanks, Knives Chau!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/03/resistance-burning-skies-multiplayer-page-revealed-removed/">Resistance: Burning Skies multiplayer page revealed, removed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Apr 2012 11:30:00 EST. The game will be natively OSX compatible, according to Beamdog creative director <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/TrentOster/status/185443062728765440">Trent Oster</a>.<br /><br />All three ports will reportedly "<a href="https://twitter.com/#!/TrentOster/status/185446408504090625">play similar</a>," despite the fact that the iPad version uses a touch interface. Oster also announced <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/TrentOster/status/185448387653550081">cross-platform multiplayer</a> for the title, which does exactly what it sounds like by allowing PC, OSX and iPad users to all Baldur around together in the same games. While the online multiplayer classification remains, the co-op listing has since been removed from both the European and North American Xbox Live Marketplace.<br /><br />Situations like this are tricky, because the Xbox Live Marketplace has been known to list some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/26/fez-hits-xbla-on-may-2/">patently false information</a>. At times, however, it can be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/04/fable-heroes-revealed-by-xbox-live-marketplace/">right on the money</a>, so we're bringing it your attention. While multiplayer is nothing new at this point for Assassin's Creed, campaign co-op would be a major addition to the franchise.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/06/assassins-creed-3-four-player-co-op-accidentally-revealed-by-xb/">Assassin's Creed 3 four-player co-op listed by XBL Marketplace</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Mar 2012 12:43:00 EST. "We created <em>Auditorium</em> by accident and had little game design experience. We've spent the past three years honing our skills so we could tackle multiplayer.<br /><br />"<em>Auditorium</em> has been our playground since the day we started, so the only logical step is to keep her as our playground," Stallwood adds, unknowingly outing <em>Auditorium</em> as a female game, for those of you keeping score.<br /><br /><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Auditorium-2-Duet/">Auditorium 2: Duet</a></em> will be optimized for two-player gameplay, and Cipher Prime will be testing it as a local feature to start, with tentative plans -- more like vehement wishes -- to include PS3/Steam and iPad/Steam crossplay functions down the line.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/">Auditorium 2: Duet - Multiplayer Design Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/#4852216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/aduet001-1330443742_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/#4852217"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/aduet002-1330443743_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/#4852218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/aduet010-1330443743_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/#4852219"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/aduet011-1330443744_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/auditorium-dudes/#4852220"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/aduet012-1330443744_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/auditorium-2-duet-multiplayer-wants-you-to-make-sweet-harmonies/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Auditorium 2: Duet multiplayer wants you to make sweet harmonies with that special someone</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/auditorium-2-duet-multiplayer-wants-you-to-make-sweet-harmonies/">Auditorium 2: Duet multiplayer wants you to make sweet harmonies with that special someone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 14:40:00 EST. Cipher Prime wants to make a sequel to its first title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/auditorium"><em>Auditorium</em></a>, titled <em>Auditorium 2: Duet</em>, and <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/761471459/auditorium-2-duet/">has turned to Kickstarter</a> to crowdsource a portion of its budget.<br /><br />Cipher Prime is the conductor behind a trio of ambient, subtly beautiful, rhythm-based brain busters. After launching the originally Flash-based <em>Auditorium</em> in 2008, the developer orchestrated two follow-up titles: <em>Pulse</em> and <em>Fractal</em>. Since then <em>Auditorium </em>has been ported to iOS, PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP, and today marks its launch on <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/205870/">Steam</a> -- and, Stallwood hopes, the launch of its sequel's development.<br /><br />Speaking exclusively with Joystiq, Cipher Prime's Will Stallwood says development of <em>Auditorium 2: Duet</em><em> </em>will only take place if the team manages to hit its sizable Kickstarter goal of $60,000. According to the developer, the goal represents half of what the team needs to complete the project, with Cipher Prime contributing the other half of necessary funds.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/auditorium-devs-look-to-kickstarter-for-sequel-funding/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Auditorium devs look to Kickstarter for sequel funding</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/auditorium-devs-look-to-kickstarter-for-sequel-funding/">Auditorium devs look to Kickstarter for sequel funding</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 11:30:00 EST. A post over on <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/02/24/binary-domain-the-machine-age-has-begun/">the PlayStation Blog</a> details the many modes and classes that make up the online suite.<br /><br />There are five different classes: heavy gunner, recon, special ops, demolition and assault. Each has a different skill and weapon loadout (as you'd imagine) that can be customized and upgraded with earned credits across <em>Binary Domain</em>'s eight total multiplayer modes.<br /><br />The majority of multiplayer modes are competitive; you have a mixture of objective-based and kill-based modes, and a couple capture and destroy types. Each supports up to ten players, save for the Invasion game type, which is basically Horde mode for up to four players. <br /><br />Check out the multiplayer trailer above for another representation of what awaits <em>Binary Domain</em> players on February 28.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/25/binary-domains-multiplayer-systems-detailed/">Binary Domain's multiplayer systems detailed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Feb 2012 00:45:00 EST. As revealed on the latest PlayStation Blogcast podcast, a standalone <em>Killzone 3</em> multiplayer download will be available on PSN.<br /><br />The mode will be a free download this Tuesday -- with a level cap. When you hit the cap, if you want to continue leveling up, you'll be able to pay $14.99 for the "full" multiplayer experience. By then, you'll know whether you want to continue playing, without having to pay a cent for the education.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/24/killzone-3s-multiplayer-on-psn-as-standalone-free-to-play-game/">Killzone 3's multiplayer on PSN as standalone free-to-play game next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 10:01:00 EST. These concepts have become the norm, and while most of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Resident-Evil-Operation-Raccoon-City/">Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</a></em>'s varying multiplayer modes feel like they're trying to offer something that caters to the typical multiplayer crowd, I found myself constantly surprised and excited by an element completely out of my control: the NPCs.<br /><br />In each of <em>Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</em>'s game modes, players have to deal with a cadre of AI-controlled enemies as well as a team of opposing players. Generally, standard zombies aren't a threat to the leather-fetish Umbrella troops or their camo-loving Spec Ops counterpart; however, a stable of familiar <em>Resident Evil</em> enemies increase the lethality of each match. The agile and sharp-clawed Hunters gleefully rip everything apart; Lickers stalk their prey, striking ferociously from the darkness; and powerful Tyrants can emerge at any time, and I suggest you run when you see them.<br /><br />Entering these enemies into the equation and priorities rapidly change on the fly, offering an experience unlike most team-based competitive multiplayer modes out there. "Should I keep shooting the enemy in front of me or should we jointly focus on the lumbering Tyrant who just dropped down into the middle of our firefight?" It's was the constant quick survey of options that led to a number of memorable moments during my time with the upcoming shooter from developer Slant Six.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/">Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (Heroes Mode)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/#4682669"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/reorcadaclose_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/#4682670"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/reorccarloszombieshield_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/#4682671"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/reorcclaireaction_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/#4682672"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/reorchunkclose_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-heroes-mode/#4682673"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/reorchunkzombie_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/13/once-bitten-twice-shot-in-resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Once bitten, twice shot in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/13/once-bitten-twice-shot-in-resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city/">Once bitten, twice shot in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 15:30:00 EST. Players in <em>Hawken </em>will battle for survival and resources inside flying, rocket-equipped mechs in various regions of a barren industrial wasteland (or <em>heaven</em>, as we call it). <em>Hawken </em>is multiplayer only and will play in a session-based format similar to <em>League of Legends</em>, Le said.<br /><br />For a further glimpse at <em>Hawken</em>'s universe, hit up the video after the break, which displays desert gameplay. If that intrigues you, sign up for the closed beta <a href="https://www.playhawken.com/">right here</a> -- get three friends (enemies, strangers) to enlist and guarantee your spot.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/06/hawken-brings-pretty-multiplayer-mech-battles-to-the-web-dec-12/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hawken brings pretty multiplayer mech battles to the web Dec. 12</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/06/hawken-brings-pretty-multiplayer-mech-battles-to-the-web-dec-12/">Hawken brings pretty multiplayer mech battles to the web Dec. 12</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 13:00:00 EST. If the listing is to be believed, Leon and Chris' latest adventure will include 2-player couch co-op, 6-player online co-op and 8-player "online multiplayer," which we're assuming will be some sort of group Mercenaries exercise.<br /><br />What's even more astounding is all of this information is just out there, floating around the Internet. Wondering how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/trials-evolution"><em>Trials Evolution</em></a>'s multiplayer mode plays out? Here's a video montage of <em>Ninja Gaiden 3</em>'s multiplayer mode. As someone <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/becoming-a-ninja-in-ninja-gaiden-3/">who's played it</a>, I can say this video sums up my experience pretty well. I stabbed dudes; dudes stabbed me; occasionally I stabbed myself. Sometimes honor is more important than <em>breathing.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/ninja-gaiden-3-multiplayer-footage-kills-so-many-ninjas/">Ninja Gaiden 3 multiplayer footage kills so many ninjas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jan 2012 06:00:00 EST. The multiplayer component of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/max-payne-3"><em>Max Payne 3</em></a> is shaping up to be absolutely insane, provided the oodles of ambition outlined in this recent <a href="http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/121/1214745p1.html">IGN preview</a> is fully realized. The competitive branch of the game will focus on "Gang War" mode, an objective-based team mode which sees player's goals change dynamically based on the events of the previous round. For instance, the player with the most kills in the last round may have a bounty on their head in the following match, while a certain territory your team stole in the previous game will have to be fended off in future encounters.<br />
<br />
Players will customize their loadouts using Bursts -- usable perks which become more powerful the longer the player goes without using them. These include intriguing abilities like Paranoia, which makes the opposing team see their teammates as enemies, simultaneously enabling friendly fire. There's also the series' trademark Bullet Time, which works by slowing down foes caught in the user's line of sight. Check out IGN for more info about how Multi-Max's abilities break down.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/14/max-payne-3-multiplayer-to-have-gang-war-narrative-bullet-tim/">Max Payne 3 multiplayer to have 'Gang War' narrative, Bullet Time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Dec 2011 16:45:00 EST. <em>His eyes -- how they twinkle! His dimples -- how merry!<br />
His cheeks are adorned with phat shades from Burberry.<br />
His mouth is set hard, like grayscale concrete,<br />
And his scraggly man-beard leaves the ladies effete.<br />

For this elf isn't jolly, or chubby or plump;<br />
This Santa, he ain't putting up with no coal or no chumps.<br />
No this Santa's a free skin in Croteam's new update.<br />
So go ahead, download him -- do it now, don't be late!<br />
<br />
Yeah he's armed and he's angry and he's all out of gum,<br />
And he don't care if you're naughty or nice, smart or dumb.<br />
You might hear him exclaim, as he breaks you like glass,<br />
"Merry Christmas to all, now let's go kick some ass."</em><br />

If you're considering postponing your purchase of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/saints-row-the-third/"><em>Saints Row: The Third</em></a> until sometime after next Tuesday in hopes of snagging a less expensive used copy, but also yearn for online cooperative mayhem, <em>beware</em>: an online pass is required before taking to the Information Superhighway.<br />
<br />
Included in new copies of both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of <em>Saints Row: The Third</em> are one-time use codes for redemption upon initial launch of any online multiplayer, prompting users to otherwise purchase a pass for an undisclosed amount (we've asked THQ for clarification). Unfortunately, despite having both 360 and PS3 copies available for review at Joystiq, the 360 pass won't activate until launch and very few reviewers have PS3 code. Rest assured, we'll have our own review of <em>Saints Row: The Third</em> -- co-op or not -- by early next week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/11/saints-row-the-third-online-co-op-campaign-and-whored-mode-ga/">Saints Row: The Third online co-op campaign and 'Whored Mode' gated with online pass</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Nov 2011 17:15:00 EST. You've likely gleaned as much from yesterday's big <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/02/gta-5-trailer/"><em>Grand Theft Auto V</em> debut trailer</a>, but this morning's <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1625672&amp;highlight=">official announcement</a> of the game from Rockstar confirms a "Los Santos" (Los Angeles-ish) setting, as well as the return of online multiplayer. "<em>Grand Theft Auto V</em> focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California," the release reads, specifically pointing to "Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside, and beaches" as the locales.<br />
<br />
Predictably, the announcement calls <em>GTAV</em> "the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created," and company co-head Sam Houser characterizes the project as "another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe." From that debut teaser, we're ... awaiting further evidence of that "radical reinvention" Houser promises. But hey, at least it looks like planes are back in the mix!<br />
<br />
Despite making the game even more official, Rockstar has yet to announce a release window or platforms for the Rockstar North-led project.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/03/yes-grand-theft-auto-v-is-set-in-los-santos-and-will-have-multi/">Yes, Grand Theft Auto V is set in Los Santos and will have multiplayer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Nov 2011 09:15:00 EST.
