Surprisingly, it didn't take Nintendo that long to flip the switch for North America, considering the company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/03/nintendo-planning-to-offer-wiiware-demos/">revealed</a> the long-overdue feature -- and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/04/why-cant-i-demo-my-vc-downloads-wii-annoyance-011/">day-one annoyance</a> -- only earlier this month. And on top of the free trial versions of select WiiWare titles (five total this week!), there are also two new Virtual Console titles to enjoy, as well as three new DSiWare games. Hit the break for the full list.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/16/nintendoware-weekly-wiiware-demos-pokemon-rumble-indiana-jone/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: WiiWare demos, Pokemon Rumble, Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/16/nintendoware-weekly-wiiware-demos-pokemon-rumble-indiana-jone/">NintendoWare Weekly: WiiWare demos, Pokemon Rumble, Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 11:30:00 EST. This week's content for European Nintendo fans is quite the bevy of scrumptious content. There's a new chapter in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tales-of-monkey-island"><em>Tales of Monkey Island</em></a> franchise to laugh through, as well as some new stuff for your little ne'er-do-well in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/my-life-as-a-darklord"><em>My Life as a Darklord</em></a>. If WiiWare isn't your thing, you could always <em>shoot everything in sight</em> in some <em>R-Type</em> on the Virtual Console. See? Totally a bevy. <br />

Kain and Palom appear as summoned monsters, also for 200 points each -- Kain uses physical attacks against invading heroes, and Palom uses Slow magic and other spells.<br /><br />It's<em> great</em> to see Square Enix is happy to charge for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/13/japanese-ffiv-the-after-years-release-schedule-revealed/">tiny chunks</a> of <em>Final Fantasy IV The After Years</em> even in <em>other games</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/ffiv-tie-in-dlc-added-to-my-life-as-a-darklord/">FFIV tie-in DLC added to My Life as a Darklord</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 16:30:00 EST. We've heard <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/07/01/hows-life-as-a-darklord/">favorable things</a> about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/my-life-as-a-darklord"><span style="font-style: italic;">My Life as a Darklord</span></a>, but could it be worth 1,000 Wii Points? While we can't answer that yet (mostly because weekly content doesn't unlock until 12pm ET), we will say that if it's anywhere near as fun as <span style="font-style: italic;">My Life as a King</span>, it's probably going to be worth keeping an eye on.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/">FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a Darklord</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452027"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_logo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452029"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452030"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452031"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/nintendoware-weekly-my-life-as-a-darklord/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: My Life as a Darklord</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/nintendoware-weekly-my-life-as-a-darklord/">NintendoWare Weekly: My Life as a Darklord</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 10:15:00 EST. It's either the wonderful Compile shooter <em>MUSHA</em> or the Konami table tennis game <em>Smash Table Tennis</em>, so ... let's say it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/vc-monday-madness-musha/"><em>MUSHA</em></a>. It sure took <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/oflc-reveals-new-import-titles-on-australian-vc/">a while</a> for <em>Smash Table Tennis</em> to show up, though.<br /><br />This news managed to overshadow the launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/my-life-as-a-darklord"><em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord</em></a>, but don't miss it if you want to play a tower defense game ... <em>from inside the tower!</em><br />

So much for the <span style="font-style: italic;">dream</span> of running an evil town full of evil adventurers.<br /><br />Instead, Andriasang describes the WiiWare game as a unique variation of tower defense. As heroes storm your tower, you delay their progress by adding floors to the structure and filling them with monsters. The strategy comes not only from managing your resources enough to build as many floors as you can, but also in placing things so that there isn't <em>too</em> much stuff on one floor. If there is, the heroes can just skip over a floor!<br /><br />See a video of the game in action after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/">FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a Darklord</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452027"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_logo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452029"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452030"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452031"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/01/hows-life-as-a-darklord/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How's Life as a Darklord?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/01/hows-life-as-a-darklord/">How's Life as a Darklord?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 17:45:00 EST. Square Enix's <em>My Life as a King</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/my-life-as-a-darklord">follow-up</a> arrives in Japan this week, allowing players to run the tower fortress of their dreams! It's joined by a, uh, doll game, and ... a brain training game ... for kids.<br /><br />Virtual Console this week offers one really cute Namco arcade game, and another Jinguuji Saburo detective game, which we'll <em>never</em> see.<br /><br />Virtual Console:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlKO48wqry0">Marvel Land</a></em> (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)</li>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_jst/index.html">Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Toki no Sugiyuku Mama ni...</a></em> (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)<br /></li>
</ul>
WiiWare:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/wiiware/wukj/index.html"><em>Right Brain Kids Okigaru Right Brain</em></a> (1-4 players, 800 Wii Points) </li>
    <li><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/wiiware/wlkj/index.html"><em>Licca-chan Oshare House</em></a> (1 player, 1,000 Wii Points)<br /></li>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/wiiware/wf2j/index.html">Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord</a> </em>(1 player, 1,000 Wii Points)<br /></li>

From the trailer (above), it appears that players are tasked with building a demonic tower, full of baddies, to keep those pesky heroes (sent by the young king?) away.<br /><br />One of the only real issues <em>My Life as a King</em> had was its total lack of action. <em>Darklord</em> <em>appears</em> to have <em>King</em>'s "city building," plus a little bit of (active or passive) combat. Hopefully we'll learn more at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/e3-2009">E3</a>, which takes place in less than a month.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/">FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a Darklord</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452027"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_logo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452029"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452030"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-darklord/#1452031"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/ffdark-darklord_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/my-life-as-a-darklord-trailer-shows-evil-takes-work/">My Life as a Darklord trailer shows evil takes work</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 May 2009 08:05:00 EST.
