The $6.99 a month service will not be an on-demand streaming app, but rather an actual television channel with a <em>schedule</em> and <em>everything</em>. All content will be uncensored, in HD when possible, but <em>always</em> dubbed in English, which could be good or bad depending on your personal anime sensibilities.<br /><br />The channel <em>will</em> broadcast advertisements, despite the subscription fee, though VIZ says those ads will be "limited" and help keep the monthly cost below 10 dollars. Announced programming includes <em>Naruto Shippuden</em>, <em>Inuyasha: The Final Act</em>, <em>Death Note</em> and quite a few others, as well as original programming.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/30/viz-media-launching-subscription-based-neon-alley-anime-channe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIZ Media launching subscription-based 'Neon Alley' anime channel on consoles this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/30/viz-media-launching-subscription-based-neon-alley-anime-channe/">VIZ Media launching subscription-based 'Neon Alley' anime channel on consoles this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Jun 2012 21:00:00 EST. Despite both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/asuras-wrath-review/">critical acclaim</a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/09/asuras-wrath-beats-syndicate-in-first-week-sales-with-all-six/">strong sales start</a>, Matsuyama is still cautious about the new IP. "It's only been a month since it's been out," Matsuyama told Joystiq through a translator. He said that he expected both positive and negative reactions, and that's what he got. "Obviously, it was a challenge to create something new. And when you try to do that, obviously the people that get it will enjoy it. But for people where the game doesn't fit their expectations, they're not going to jump up as much."<br /> <br /> We also checked in on both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/22/cyberconnect2-working-on-another-hack-game/">the <em>dot Hack</em> title in progress</a> as well as a possible sequel to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/09/hunt-down-solatorobo-red-the-hunter-starting-september-27/"><em>Solatorobo</em></a>, but for both of those, Matsuyama says he needs more support from North American publishers. For <em>dot Hack</em> specifically, "as long as we can get more requests from the fans, there's a possibility." But he there are other factors in play as well. "It's not that people don't know about it," he said. "But I think it's more than Namco Bandai Games America is not interested in the typical JRPGs and that's why they're not looking to pick it up."<br /> <br /> Matsuyama said he's not trying to make directly Japanese or Western games, however. "It's most important to be able to see the whole world. Back in the day, a lot of developers and publishers were focused on Japanese games and sent them out to North America. Obviously that's not going to be accepted as much. From our standpoint, we're really looking to create a game that's fun for everybody in the world."<br /> <br /> That said, we kindly asked Matsuyama to show us what might be the next evolution of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/19/the-evolution-of-the-asura-pose/">the Asura pose</a>, given that we've seen it twice already so far. But because Matsuyama happened to be in the Namco booth and not the Capcom booth (not to mention that he was dressed up as Naruto anyway), we got the very serene pose above. In other words, the Asura Pose has evolved <em>yet again</em>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/19/asuras-wrath-reaction-no-surprise-to-matsuyama-dot-hack-for-na/">Asura's Wrath reaction no surprise to Matsuyama, dot Hack for NA needs more fan support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Mar 2012 09:00:00 EST. Viz Media, the anime localization super-giant responsible for bringing both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bleach"><em>Bleach</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Naruto"><em>Naruto</em></a> to North America, will continue its cultural conquest of the western continent by releasing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Professor-Layton-and-the-Eternal-Diva"><em>Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva</em></a> in North American markets.<br />
<br />
The film takes place between the events of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Professor-Layton-and-the-Last-Specter"><em>Professor Layton and the Last Specter</em></a> (due out this fall) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Professor-Layton-and-the-Diabolical-Box"><em>Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box</em>,</a> and should be available at your local otaku shelter "later this year." The 2009 animated film featuring everyone's favorite <strike>top-hat</strike> professor had previously undergone westernization for its 2010 release in the UK, however Viz Media's adaptation will be the first version available in the US and Canada for those weary of importing.<br />
<br />
The film has been such a success in Japan and abroad that <em>Layton</em> developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Level-5">Level 5</a> has already commissioned a sequel, however there has been no mention of localization for <em>that</em> adventure so far.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/02/professor-layton-and-the-eternal-diva-coming-to-a-dvd-player-nea/">Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva coming to a DVD player near you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 02 Jul 2011 12:00:00 EST. Two new games in longtime Namco Bandai anime franchise series are on the way. People who either love Naruto or love CyberConnect2's brand of cinematic fighting will be delighted to hear that a new <em>Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> game is on the way next year, called <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations.</em> The PS3/Xbox 360 game includes a "number of playable and support characters far beyond any Naruto game" and promises some kind of updated online functionality.<br />
<br />
In other Namco anime license news, the game formerly known as "<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/03/namco-bandai-working-on-new-dragon-ball-fighter-for-360-and-ps3/">Dragon Ball Game Project Age 2011</a>"</em> has been named by fan feedback. Proving that they fear change, the community decided upon "Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi" for the new fighter, which is coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3 October 25.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/">Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations (Xbox 360/PS3)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/#4264941"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/naruto63001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/#4264942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/naruto63002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/#4264943"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/naruto63003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/#4264944"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/naruto63004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-xbox-360-ps3/#4264945"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/naruto63005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/30/new-naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-dragon-ball-games-coming-from-n/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Dragon Ball games coming from Namco Bandai</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/30/new-naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-dragon-ball-games-coming-from-n/">New Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Dragon Ball games coming from Namco Bandai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Jun 2011 22:30:00 EST. Honestly, it feels like the world is playing a joke on us. Is Naruto a guy? A mythical dragon god beast king? A lunch special at the take-out place around the corner?<br /><br />Jokes aside, another entry in the long-running video game series has been revealed in the latest issue of <em>Shonen Jump</em> magazine (via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/19/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generation-has-two-stages-of-naruto/">Siliconera</a>). No consoles have been mentioned yet, but the premise seems simple enough: more fighters, both young and Shippuden versions; more unnecessarily lengthy pre-fight dialog; more of the <em>Naruto</em> timeline to play through. It's the <em>Dragon Ball Z</em> formula in full effect, we assume.<br /><br />But, hey, if you're trying to make sense of this all, relax -- we <a href="http://www.askaninja.com/">know a guy</a>.<br /><br />[Note: Image taken from <em>Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja: Storm 2</em>.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/21/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-generations-revealed/">Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja: Storm Generations revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Jun 2011 02:00:00 EST. Though its title is about as inaccessible as titles get, we're starting to understand <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive"><em>Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive</em></a> thanks to the two gameplay videos posted below. In short: It's <em>Phantasy Star Online</em>, only minus all the technology, and plus a whole bunch of impossible ninja magic.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/27/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive-gameplay-videos-get-cooperative/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive gameplay videos get cooperative</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/27/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive-gameplay-videos-get-cooperative/">Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive gameplay videos get cooperative</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 27 Mar 2011 20:30:00 EST. Perhaps it'll work better if another company accepts the challenge? We'll find out this fall when Namco Bandai releases <em>Narultimate Impact</em> for PSP in Japan.<br />
<br />
According to Japanese magazine leaks summarized by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/15/next-naruto-game-is-a-bit-like-dynasty-warriors/">Siliconera</a>, <em>Narultimate Impact</em> will be a <em>Warriors</em>-style game (think one player versus thousands of enemy soldiers) set in the <em>Naruto</em> universe. So if "a lot of talking about 'jutsus'" was the one thing you thought was missing from <em>Dynasty Warriors</em>, this could be the game for you.<br />
<br />
Siliconera previously found a trademark listing for "Ultimate Ninja Impact" in both Europe and the US, and the site speculates that this could be the Western subtitle for the game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/narultimate-impact/">Naruto and Dynasty Warriors mashed together in a Narultimate Impact</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Mar 2011 15:00:00 EST. It would have been pretty safe to assume that the popular franchise would show up on Nintendo's new handheld anyway! <br />
<br />
Now, according to <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/01/04/naruto_3ds_details/">Andriasang</a>, <em>V-Jump</em> magazine has revealed the first details of that Naruto game: <em>Naruto Shippuden Nin Rittai Emaki Saikyou Ninkai Kessen</em> -- a title that suggests the game is part of the <em>Ninja Council</em> series and has something do with a "three-dimensional scroll" and "decisive battle." The new game is described as a side-scrolling action title that takes place on "3D fields." To see what that looks like, you can consult a partial scan posted by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/04/narutos-3ds-debut-is-a-3d-side-scrolling-action-game/">Siliconera</a>. There will also be "gimmicks and stage formations" that make use of the 3D effect in the game, heralding the arrival of the occasional 3D effect as <em>the new</em> random DS microphone feature.<br />
<br />
<em>Naruto Shippuden</em> for 3DS will be released in Japan this spring, likely as close as Takara Tomy can get to the February launch date.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/04/first-details-of-3ds-naruto-game-revealed/">First details of 3DS Naruto game revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Jan 2011 17:30:00 EST. There's a reason why every PSP game seemingly has four player co-op play nowadays: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter">Monster Hunter</a></em>. Capcom struck a gold mine by bringing the franchise to Sony's handheld, and Japanese developers have tried -- over and over again -- to replicate that success. <em>Phantasy Star Portable</em>, <em>God Eater</em> and <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em> are just a few of the titles that have attempted to follow the formula.<br />
<br />
<em>Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive</em> is Namco Bandai's anime ninja flavored variation, and it's coming to the US in Spring 2011, nearly a year since its original July release in Japan. Unlike the <em>Storm</em> series, <em>Kizuna Drive</em> is developed by Premium Agency.<br />
<br />
In addition to featuring an "all new story" with "game-exclusive characters," <em>Kizuna Drive</em> will have one more bonus <em>Naruto</em> fans will probably appreciate: a theme song, sung by Naruto's voice actor, Junko Takeuchi. See the press release after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/">Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/#3694020"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/npsp003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/#3694021"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/npsp006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/#3694022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/npsp010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/#3694023"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/npsp013_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-kizuna-drive/#3694024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/npsp015_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/naruto-transforms-into-inevitable-co-op-game-for-psp/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naruto transforms into inevitable co-op game for PSP</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/naruto-transforms-into-inevitable-co-op-game-for-psp/">Naruto transforms into inevitable co-op game for PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Dec 2010 07:30:00 EST. Shinobi Rumble will be released in North America on February 8 of next year. There's only one staunch barrier to entry with this game, and it's right on the front of the box. "<em>Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja: Storm 2</em>," with its awkward colon placement, speaks to fans of the serialized manga and its long-running anime adaptation so fluently, it sounds like gibberish to anyone else. Oh, and there's a "2" in the title, so now I can't follow <em>because I don't know what happened in Gibberish 1</em>. <br />
<br />
If you manage to get past the cover (featuring Naruto and his friend-turned-rival Sasuke, by the way), you'll find an energetic and accessible adventure that respectfully harnesses its source material, without locking out newcomers. Fans tuned in to keywords like <em>chakra</em>, <em>Rasengan</em> and <em>Orochimaru</em> will be more invested in the story, and everyone else will find <em>some</em> way to survive a fighting game without being ensconced in the narrative. Just pretend it's called <em>Ninja Tornado Fight</em>.<br />

Now Atlus is piling on, having announced a deal with license holder Tomy to distribute two new <em>Naruto</em> games. We think Atlus is acting as a distribution partner rather than sole publisher, as both games' boxes still bear the Tomy logo.<br />
<br />
<em>Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Blade Chronicles</em> for Wii puts players in the roles of both Naruto and Sasuke as they search for the "Genryu" Elemental Dragons. And <em>Naruto Shippuden: Naruto vs. Sasuke</em> is a side-scrolling game for DS in which the two are at odds, and face off with a team of fighters that you recruit in-game. <br />
<br />
Both games will be released November 16. Atlus said that retailers will reveal pre-order bonuses in the next few weeks, and also teased "more Naruto Shippuden adventures on Nintendo DS in early 2011." The publisher went ahead and revealed two of those items early in the images it sent: a hat for both the <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77501">DS</a> and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77504">Wii game</a> at GameStop, and a set of figurines as part of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Naruto-Shippuden-Chronicles-Collection-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B003ZUV83U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1282684659&amp;sr=8-2">premium</a> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Naruto-Shippuden-Chronicles-Collection-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B003ZUV83U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1282684659&amp;sr=8-2">bundles</a> from Amazon.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/">Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Blade Chronicles (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/#3293746"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutowii82401_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/#3293747"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutowii82402_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/#3293748"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutowii82403_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/#3293749"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutowii82404_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-dragon-blade-chronicles-wii/#3293750"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutowii82405_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/">Naruto Shippuden: Naruto vs. Sasuke (DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/#3293708"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutods82401_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/#3293710"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutods82402_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/#3293711"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutods82403_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/#3293712"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutods82404_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/naruto-shippuden-naruto-vs-sasuke-ds/#3293714"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/narutods82405_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/24/atlus-distributing-two-new-naruto-shippuden-games/">Atlus distributing two new Naruto Shippuden games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Aug 2010 23:30:00 EST. It's like this trailer opened our skull and scooped out our brain, only to leave a drooling husk of a human being in its wake. We guess it's kinda impressive we managed to write this post.<br />
<br />
So hit the play button above and see Naruto and company throw down in splendid HD glory. <em>Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2</em> launches <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-2-coming-to-north-america/">this fall</a>.<br />

It's Tuesday, which means: brand new Xbox Live Games on Demand to satisfy your very <em>demanding</em> gaming desires. There are two new titles this week. First up, we have Lara Croft's 2006 return to form, <em>Tomb Raider: Legend</em>. Next is <em>Naruto: Rise of a Ninja</em>, which is ... well, it's a <em>Naruto </em>game. Both titles run $29.99 in North America but, as usual, pricing and availability will vary by region. <br />

And does it still look good? Well, the answers are "this fall" and "yes."<br />
<br />
Not only is <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm 2</em> the first game based on the <em>Shippuden</em> story arc to appear on an HD console, it's also the first multiplatform game for the franchise. Whereas the first game appeared exclusively on PS3, the sequel will grace both Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year. Thankfully, it looks as though developer CyberConnect2 isn't cutting any corners for the sequel, promising more than 40 characters, original Japanese voice overs and "bigger and more epic cinematic boss battles."<br />
<br />
Like the first <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm</em>, the sequel is likely to present an abridged version of the series story. However, the press release boasts that "a shocking story twist" will have "Sasuke wearing Akatsuki gear." Yeah, we can't believe it either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/naruto-shippuden-ultimate-ninja-storm-2-coming-to-north-america/">Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 coming to North America and Europe this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Feb 2010 19:30:00 EST. Well, your dream will come true soon, when Takara Tomy releases <em>Nari Chara Naruto Shippuden</em> in Japan.<br />
<br />
The app seems pretty simple: choose your <em>Naruto</em> image with a blanked-out character face, choose (or shoot) a DSi-snapped photo, and just like that, you and Sasuke are best friends forever. You can also add effects, holiday messages, and turn your photo into a slide puzzle!<br />

Namco Bandai is unsurprisingly working on a sequel to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm"><em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</em></a>. Revealed in the latest issue of V-Jump, the sequel will take place right where the first game left off, at the beginning of the <em>Shippuden</em> series. Not only will the cast of characters be older in the sequel, <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm 2</em> is promising some big new features, primarily 4-player support and a multiplatform release. Yep, unlike the first game, <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm 2</em> will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360.<br />
<br />
Details are slim at the moment, but with a planned 2010 release in Japan, we'll undoubtedly find out more soon. So long as CyberConnect 2 can expand on the game's depth while keeping its good looks, anime fans will want to keep an eye out for this one.<br />

It seems Naruto is well on his way towards becoming a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madden">football announcer</a>. Namco Bandai's games based on the anime franchise continue their proliferation. <em>Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3</em> is coming to PSP and it continues Naruto's inability to save his friend Sasuke.<br />
<br />
The big new features for this third iteration of <em>Shippuden</em> are four-player battles, a new story mode and an expanded roster of characters (Namco Bandai is promising over 50). In addition to the usual fighting modes, a new cooperative ad-hoc feature will let three players connect with each other and play through the adventure mode. While the enhancements sound promising, we wonder if fans haven't grown tired of these annual iterations yet.<br />

Namco Bandai knows you can only continue to flog the equine corpse of <em>Naruto</em> and <em>Dragon Ball Z</em> so many times before it gets excessive. But rather than bring in new flog-ees, it's welcomed three new floggers to help run its North American operation.<br />
<br />
The company has just added former Codie Catherin Fowler, former 2K exec Graeme Bayless and Atari honcho Robert Stevenson to executive positions between which neither you nor we appreciate the distinction. All said they looked forward to being blasted on forums as "<em>somehow</em> less respectful of the art of anime than 4Kids." And <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIWP-j4aE3k">that's saying something</a>.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/namco-bandai-appoints-three-new-execs-to-north-american-operatio/">Namco Bandai appoints three new execs to North American operations</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 21:00:00 EST. Another year, another <em>Naruto</em> game. Namco Bandai continues its sweet <em>Dragonball</em>-esque milking of the franchise by bringing over yet another <em>Naruto</em> game to the PSP, this time based on the newer <em>Shippuden</em> series. The combat of <em>Akatsuki Rising</em> will feature easier jitsu-based combat, and will also feature a heavy emphasis on story, as evidenced by these screens of the game's cutscenes.<em></em><br /><br />The story will take players through the Gaara Retrieval arc while the titular Akatsuki Mode will let you play as the Akatsuki organization. You can expect it on PSP this fall.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/23/namco-bandai-ship-pudens-new-naruto-screenshots/">Namco Bandai Ship-pudens new Naruto screenshots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 23 Aug 2009 15:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tekken-6/">Tekken 6</a></em> continues to expand its repertoire of manga-inspired special costumes. Masashi Kishimoto, creator of <em>Naruto</em>, is collaborating with Namco Bandai by creating an alternate outfit for Lars (seen above). This is the second costume from a famous mangaka for <em>Tekken 6</em>, the first being <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/check-out-clamps-tekken-6-costume-in-game/">CLAMP's design for Jin</a>.<br /><br />In addition to Kishimoto's outfit, <em>Tekken 6</em> will also feature an alternate costume for Zafina designed by Mutsumi Inomata, character designer of <em>Tales of Destiny</em> and <em>Tales of Graces</em> (after the break). While some were afraid these costumes would remain a strictly Japan-only affair, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/31/these-tekken-6-costumes-were-made-by-manga-artists/">Siliconera</a> reports that all three of the special costumes revealed so far will be available in the US version as well when it launches on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/tekken-6-release-date-october-27-in-north-america/">October 27th</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/">Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. It's been a while since we've seen you on PSP, <em>Naruto</em> -- and it looks like you've grown up. PSP will getting its own fighter based on the <em>Naruto Shippuden</em> series later this year, courtesy of Namco Bandai. According to <a href="http://psp.ign.com/articles/977/977995p1.html">IGN</a>, <em>Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising</em> will feature a simplified control scheme that allows players to easily create "ultimate combos" with two support characters and easy-to-use Jutsu attacks. In addition to an Ad-Hoc versus mode, there will also be two-player co-op.<br /><br />The story will take players through the Gaara Retrieval arc while the titular Akatsuki Mode will let you play as the Akatsuki organization. It looks like <em>Naruto</em> fans will have a lot to look forward to.<br /><br />[Thanks, David B.!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/naruto-shippuden-fighter-coming-to-psp-this-fall/">Naruto Shippuden fighter coming to PSP this Fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 12:15:00 EST. The makers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ultimate-ninja-heroes-2"><em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Forest</em></a>, CyberConnect2, are planning to unveil something soon. Chances are, if you're an anime fan, you've picked up the PS3-exclusive <em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</em>. The most recent game by Namco Bandai has rightly deserved its fair share of attention due to the fantastic graphics crafted by the CyberConnect 2 team. The secret behind the new graphics is surprisingly simple: add more polygons.<br /><br />Take for example the Naruto character model. In the PS2 <em>Naruto</em> games, the rascally ninja contained 3,723 polygons. However, for the PS3 iteration, he's made up of 16,927. His face alone takes 4,013 polygons, making his face more complex than the entirety of the PS2 model.<br /><br />As hardware gets more powerful and tech gets better, we wouldn't be surprised if animation studios just used game engines to render episodes. Heck, we wouldn't mind watching real-time generated episodes of <em>Naruto</em> using this game engine.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/10/how-many-polygons-does-it-take-to-make-naruto-look-so-good/">How many polygons does it take to make Naruto look so good?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 16:04:00 EST. If there's one thing we love in our demos it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/republic-commando-s-head-cameos-in-force-unleashed-demo/">disembodied Republic Commando heads</a>. But if there are <em>two </em>things, they're disembodied Republic Commando heads and bitter, cruel irony. Take, for instance, this morning's announcement of an Xbox Live demo for <em>Naruto: The Broken Bond</em>, which included the following line:<br /><br />"Not available in Asia."<br /><br />Really? Asia <em>loves</em> Naruto. Did you know that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakura_Haruno">Sakura Haruno</a> was recently elected <em>mayor of Asia</em>? It's true. So, denying them the demo just seems ... mean. In fact, we're not even sure the game's being released in Asia! Of course, North America never got <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkvSLzug3Nk"><em>Pepsiman</em></a>, so we guess it all works out in the end.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/naruto-the-broken-bond-demo-now-on-xbox-live/">Naruto: The Broken Bond demo now on Xbox Live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Nov 2008 11:00:00 EST. <br />Here's a fun fact: Did you know that <em>The Broken Bond</em> will support 30 different Naruto characters and be the first and only Naruto game on a gaming console to feature online multiplayer? Massive HDD installs are back in fashion for the fall season. Leading the charge is PS3-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm"><em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm's</em></a> 3.9GB doozy. According to <a href="http://www.gamersplatform.com/2008/11/01/naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-to-have-39gb-install/">Gamers Platform</a>, who are currently playing a retail build of the game, the install takes about 15-20 minutes. You might want to clear up some space if you're planning to pick up the game on November 4 when it finally hits stores.<br /><br />If you've got limited space on your hard drive, then you must be looking out for other titles with mandatory installs. Here's a brief list of other popular fall titles which have the space-eating "feature": <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> (500MB), <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/spider-man"><em>Spider-Man: Web of Shadows</em></a> (1GB) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fallout-3"><em>Fallout 3</em></a> (4.3GB).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/02/expect-a-3-9gb-install-in-naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm/">Expect a 3.9GB install in Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Nov 2008 10:30:00 EST. <p> In addition to a stunning new trailer, a recent blog post on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/10/28/naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-hits-next-week-only-on-ps3/">PlayStation.blog</a> revealed that PS3's exclusive <em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> will feature post-release DLC, which will add additional support characters and missions to the game. While Namco Bandai is usually notorious for their overpriced DLC offerings, we're surprised to hear that it'll be all free. Seriously. "It will mostly focus on new support characters and missions and best of all, it will all be FREE!" If the beautiful graphics and exclusive PS3 support haven't convinced you, perhaps this announcement will.<br /><br /><em>Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> is available next week.</p>

Surprise, surprise. A Namco Bandai game with DLC? The hotly-anticipated <em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> will be getting DLC in the form of "Storm Packs." Thankfully, if you want to get the first DLC pack for free, all you have to do is pre-order the game at GameStop (or EB Games). <p>We probably don't need to say too much about this game. It's only about a month away, but this new trailer still amazes us. Strangely, it will be available in the US before Japan even gets it. Why? It doesn't have a release date here.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-trailer/">TGS 08: Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 01:45:00 EST. <p><em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> made a big splash when it launched its debut trailer a few months ago. The visuals were simply unparalleled by other cel-shaded games at the time. A new batch of videos released by Namco Bandai have us squinting, bewildered by the dazzling visuals on display. <em>Ultimate Ninja Storm</em> looks absolutely fantastic, there's absolutely no doubt about it.<br /><br />There are a number of videos released, and we're working as quickly as possible to get them uploaded to you. For now, enjoy this one video of Tsunade's battle -- and then check throughout the day for more videos as they're ready. <strong>Update:</strong> Two more videos added.<br />
</p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/get-koed-by-incredible-new-naruto-videos/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Get KO'ed by incredible new Naruto videos</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/get-koed-by-incredible-new-naruto-videos/">Get KO'ed by incredible new Naruto videos</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Sep 2008 14:45:00 EST.
