Granted, it might be impossible to drag her into play-til-dawn Halo 2 sessions online, but dropping into casual gaming with a Wario Ware: Smooth Moves round or two is entirely doable. Need some tips? Wikihow has an entry up on how to get your girlfriend to play video games, which offers up some gender stereotypes like this:

"Don't get games that involve things like strippers, prostitutes, and sex. Unless she has a really good sense of humor about such things, she probably won't like it."

Well, where's the fun in that? Oh, we keed, we keed. True, most of the article is common sense, and it might actually be helpful to some of you out there who have had a hard time getting your significant others interested in jumping into the game with you. However, some of it is just plain whacked, like explaining to your girlfriend how to stretch and uncramp her hands. If your girlfriend doesn't know how to do this already, then you've got more serious problems.

For those of you who need a girlfriend in order to find this article useful, check out Wikihow's hilarious "How to get a girlfriend if you're a nerd" entry. We're not sure whether to laugh or cry. For all of you female gamers out there, let us know how they could improve this entry, and don't worry about being gentle ... blast away.

[Thanks, WebPimp]
How to get your girlfriend to play video games originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 05 Mar 2007 10:55:00 EST. And no, it's not Infrastructure support. It's something just as good, we swear! "Girlfriend", Avril Lavigne's latest single will be debuting in EA's latest racer. Some of the artists included in the game's somewhat eclectic soundtrack include: B'z, Filter, Jane's Addiction, Killswitch, N.E.R.D., Sugarcult and Wired All Wrong. "The Burnout series is an amazing, proven platform for launching the world's biggest songs and artists, and we're thrilled to be working with Avril Lavigne this year to help debut her new song "Girlfriend," said Steve Schnur, EA's Worldwide Executive of Music. "From pop to rock to metal Burnout Dominator is all about attitude and rebellion, which makes it a perfect fit for the 33 artists."
Avril Lavigne premieres new song in Burnout Dominator originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 23 Feb 2007 17:05:00 EST.
Blog MilitantGeek helps us make sense of the difference between geeks, nerds and dorks with this handy table. We've carefully assessed ourselves (and our readers) against this handy chart, and have determined that most of us are nerds, though a few of us (hackers in the mod & homebrew community come to mind) have ascended to the level of geek.

Because MilitantGeek asks "What did we miss?" we provide the following suggested updates:

Of course you are! The self-proclaimed "King of Games" in Japan has some threads for you. These suckers are roughly $50 a pop, and feature some really bizarre artwork. Check out the series dedicated to Nintendo's Game & Watch handhelds.

It looks like their "Sweat Parka" hoodie has a pocket made just for your DS, but since we can't read Japanese, and their English site is "beta only" right now, we don't know. The Zelda designs on it are pretty nifty though. Our favorite shirt is the "80s Videogamer" model. Simple with a message.

Although right now if forced to choose between a new Wii game and the shirt, we gotta go with the game.

[Thanks, Jeff]
Gamer apparel: the king of games originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 15 Nov 2006 21:40:00 EST. There the fans were divided into Hogwarts houses and entertained by an enthusiastic PR representative who is "known to do air-magic (as opposed to air-guitar)."

Not surprisingly, the writers geeked out on the "spine-tingling and spell binding" environments in the game and new features like the ability to wander around Hogwarts and some of its surroundings.
