Ever since we first heard that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/daft-punk">Daft Punk</a> would be creating the soundtrack for <em>Tron: Legacy</em> (the upcoming film from Disney), we've been hoping that music from our <em>favorite</em> French space aliens would make its way to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tron-evolution">Tron: Evolution</a></em>, the game tie-in from Propaganda Games. In a panel at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-york-comic-con-2010">New York Comic Con</a> this weekend, Disney Interactive senior PR manager Eric Wein confirmed as much, answering a fan's question on the subject by saying, "We haven't announced details for the soundtrack, we will soon. We can tell you it'll be a combination of the film's soundtrack and some unique, original music."<br />
<br />
We'll be holding our breath in anticipation for that forthcoming full soundtrack announcement and, <em>of course</em>, playing lots of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dj-hero,daft-punk">DJ Hero</a></em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/11/tron-evolution-soundtrack-features-daft-punk-original-music/">Tron: Evolution soundtrack features Daft Punk, original music</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Oct 2010 17:10:00 EST. During a panel last night at the New York Comic Con, transmedia company Starlight Runner -- a business that helps <a href="http://www.starlightrunner.com/slr_clients/microsoft">plan cross-media campaigns</a> for various properties, including Microsoft's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-combat-evolved">Halo</a></em> franchise -- gave a presentation on its work. Among the slides shown, company president and CEO Jeff Gomez previewed one that gave the audience a look at the future of <em>Halo</em>: two new trilogies starting in 2012/2013 with a major motion picture set for release by 2014.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Microsoft representative Ryan James contacted Joystiq to say, "We worked with Starlight in the past, but the info isn't an accurate representation of our plans for the <em>Halo</em> franchise." <br />
<br />
Starlight Runner have yet to issue any official comment on the news.<br />

Wondering what those announced, but mostly unseen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dc-direct">DC Direct</a> gaming figures look like? We spotted them this morning at the NY Comic Con, casually posing in a glass case. Most of the items aren't for sale until later this year -- we might find that more troubling if it weren't bank account <em>depletion</em> season (read: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/q4-2010">Q4</a>).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/">DC Direct at New York Comic Con 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1087_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451278"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1088_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451281"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1091_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451284"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1093_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451287"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1095_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/09/dc-directs-ny-comic-con-offerings-full-of-gaming-all-stars/">DC Direct's NY Comic Con offerings full of gaming all-stars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 14:00:00 EST. Konami's classic, six-player <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/x-men-arcade"><em>X-Men</em></a> arcade beat-em-up will make its way to the XBLA and PSN platforms, as revealed during Marvel's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/new-york-comic-con-2010">New York Comic Con 2010</a> presentation. Marvel Games' T.Q. Jefferson revealed that the title will be ported by its original developer to the two platforms "soon," and will retain its six-player cap, achieveable through an online co-op mode.<br />
<br />
Jefferson didn't reveal a price for the title -- we'll try and ascertain more information while on the floor at NYCC. Also, we call Dazzler. Don't even try to get in here and play as Dazzler. <em>We called </em><em>her</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/09/konamis-classic-x-men-arcade-game-coming-to-psn-and-xbla/">Konami's classic X-Men arcade game coming to PSN and XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 11:52:00 EST. During the still-in-progress Marvel Games panel at New York Comic Con 2010, Beenox creative director Thomas Wilson revealed that the previously GameStop-exclusive (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/03/spider-man-shattered-dimensions-pre-order-gets-4-new-costumes/">with pre-orders</a>) "Cosmic" costumes for <em>Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions</em> will be made available as paid DLC sometime before the end of the month.<br />
<br />
Wilson didn't make any announcements regarding price, but we can't imagine the costume pack costing too many Spider-Cents.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/09/spider-man-shattered-dimensions-cosmic-costumes-coming-this-m/">Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions 'Cosmic' costumes coming this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 11:05:00 EST. Within seconds, we were able to run along the sides of buildings, glide through the air, and take down tanks with the greatest of ease. <em>Prototype</em>, Activision's upcoming open-world super hero game, is undoubtedly an ambitious project. However, in spite of the game's diverse move set, the team at Radical Entertainment has managed to streamline the experience, presenting a control scheme that's instantly rewarding.<br /><br />There's nothing more emasculating than having to struggle with a control pad. The demo presented at Comic Con eased us into Alex Mercer's overwhelming power. Movement is quite possibly the most impressive facet of the game: absolutely <em>nothing</em> will ever get in your way. Want to take on a tank? Lock on and simply fly there. A building in your way? Simply run towards it ... and then up it, ignoring all effects of gravity.<br /><br />Traversing the landscape is thrilling, especially with so much happening on screen. Even without the massive mobs being rendered, the virtual NYC in <em>Prototype</em> is, from what we've seen, even more authentic than the one found in <em>GTA4</em>. The scale is appreciably larger; Times Square is appropriately filled with masses of panicked crowds. It's hard not to feel like you've been transplanted into a big-budget Marvel movie with the scope and scale of these visuals.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/">Prototype (NY Comic Con)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/#1338698"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/leader-hunter-vs.-military_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/#1338697"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/alex-vs.-brawler-vs.-military_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/#1338696"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/thermobaric-tank-pwns-infected_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/#1338695"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/military-vs.-brawler_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype-ny-comic-con/#1338694"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/military-angers-alex_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/hands-on-with-prototype-being-a-super-powered-badass/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-on with Prototype: being a super-powered badass</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/hands-on-with-prototype-being-a-super-powered-badass/">Hands-on with Prototype: being a super-powered badass</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Feb 2009 11:15:00 EST. Perusing the assorted New York Comic Con invitations in our inbox this morning, we stumbled across one particularly interesting line among the bullet points in an email from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/activision">Activision</a> -- a much more solid release date for upcoming <strike><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-1000">T-1000</a> simulation</strike> open-world/action game <em>Prototype</em>. And rather than put words into the company's mouth, let's look right at what came from the press release:<br /><br />"Hands-on - fans get their first chance to play the highly anticipated open-world/action thriller, PROTOTYPE, planned for release in June."<br /><br />We can't say for sure if we're excited for the potential <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/09/ces-2009-zmak-would-love-to-show-us-all-12-hours-of-prototype/">12 hours of shape-shifting, open-world madness</a> yet, but look for our first impressions later this week (though as the picture above confirms -- yes, you <em>can</em> shoot blood in all directions). If you're really jonesin' for some brutality in the meantime, check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/prototype-coming-summer-2009-new-trailer-released/">the latest trailer</a> from last month's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ces-2009">CES</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/">Prototype</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/#1479912"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/1329_360_120908001_0026_rb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/#1479911"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/xbcap_56_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/#1479910"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/xbcap_43_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/#1479909"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/1329_360_120908001_0096_rb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prototype/#1479908"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/1329_360_120908001_0057_rb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/prototype-slated-for-june-release/">Prototype slated for June release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 10:25:00 EST. Earlier this week we heard about a secret <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/01/27/major-comic-book-legend-to-join-dc-universe-online-team/">comic book "legend"</a> joining the <em>DC Universe Online </em>development team. The silhouetted individual was supposed to be revealed at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/27/activision-ea-headline-increased-game-presence-at-new-york-comi/">New York Comic Con</a> next weekend. Of course, you didn't expect it to <em>remain</em> a secret until then, did you? The latest issue of Wizard magazine (via <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/01/30/writer-marv-wolfman-joins-dc-universe-online-team/">BigDownload</a>) has let the Black Cat out of the bag: writer Marv Wolfman will be enlisting with previously revealed comic veterans Geoff Jones and Jim Lee and the rest of Sony Online.<br /> <br /> The creator of <em>Blade</em> and writer of <em>Crisis on Infinite Earths</em> will be expanding and adding to the narrative already written by Jones, while Lee is handling the art direction. Even though the surprise has apparently been spoiled, you'll still be able to enjoy a brand new playable demo at the convention. Look for the <em>DC Universe Online </em>panel on Saturday, February 7.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/writer-marv-wolfman-signs-up-for-dc-universe-online/">Writer Marv Wolfman signs up for DC Universe Online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jan 2009 13:24:00 EST. No longer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/08/29/penny-arcade-expo-sees-huge-attendance-plans-for-future-expos/">content</a> with their fans in Seattle, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/pax-2008-the-penny-arcade-interview/">Penny Arcade</a>'s Mike "Gabe" Krahulik and Jerry "Tycho" Holkins are heading to the East Coast where all the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/james-ransom-wiley/">really</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/andrew-yoon/">cool</a></em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/christopher-grant/">nerds</a> hang out. PAX East is still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-east-coming-late-march-2010-venue-revealed/">quite a ways off</a>, but there will be another opportunity to meet the webcomic duo in 2009: at <a href="http://www.nycomiccon.com">NY Comic Con</a>.<br /><br />New York Comic Con will take place from February 6-8 next year and promises an expanded focus on gaming, with companies such as 2K Games, Activision, Codemasters, EA, Epic, Konami and Ubisoft all participating in the show's festivities. The convention is being planned by Reed Exhibitions, the same folks that are also handling PAX East. Conspiracy? Perhaps. But don't think too hard -- do you really want to mess with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/costumes-of-comic-con-2008/945633/full/">these guys</a>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/penny-arcade-duo-to-appear-at-2009-new-york-comic-con/">Penny Arcade duo to appear at 2009 New York Comic Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 09:45:00 EST. It's called <em>Spider-Man: Web of Shadows</em> and will once again feature the tried-and-true sandbox mechanic of a fully-explorable New York City. Other than that, we know that the game is being worked on by Treyarch and Shaba Games and will feature some kind of system that allows for customizable superpowers. Also, players will have some control in determining whether they want to be the boyscout do-gooder or a more selfish anti-hero type.<br /><br />Perhaps even cooler than the news of there being a new game is word that Activision will be holding auditions for folks to do the voiceover work in the game at their booth at the upcoming New York Comic-Con. The winner will be determined by open voting, which will go down at the game's official website <a href="http://www.seizecontrol.com/">here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/17/spider-man-web-of-shadows-coming-to-wii/">Spider-Man: Web of Shadows coming to Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Apr 2008 16:00:00 EST. Sid Meier is attending New York Comic Con '08 this weekend promoting his upcoming <em>Civilization Revolution</em> game. He'll be at the 2K Games Booth (#1157) on Saturday, April 19, from 1-3PM. He'll be making chit-chat with fans and "providing autographs." There's +2 internets in it for the guy who gets Meier to sign his man-boob.<br />
<br />
Attendees will also get a chance to try out demos of the console-only <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/civilizationrevolution/"><em>Civilization Revolution</em></a>, which should be very close to done now. <em>Revolution</em> is expected to release on Xbox 360, PS3 and DS on June 3. The Wii version is still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/civilization-revolution-on-hold-for-wii/">hidden by the fog-of-war</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/17/meet-sid-meier-at-ny-comic-con-this-saturday/">Meet Sid Meier at NY Comic Con this Saturday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Apr 2008 13:00:00 EST.
