NFL Tour demo kicked through Xbox Live uprights

The NFL season is winding to a close, and things are getting pretty exciting. But it's also getting tortuously serious. What if you got into football not for stats and paydays but just the sheer fun of the game? What if you simply want to run fast on a wall with streaks behind you and do The Worm? For you, friend, for you -- there is NFL Tour.

A new demo of the game has just been dropped onto Xbox Live for your turbo-juking, casual dressing enjoyment. Speaking as big fans of NFL Blitz, we're looking forward to giving another arcade-style pigskin game a whirl. But we're more interested in hearing what you think. Share your thoughts right after the break.

PSN Thursday: mostly jammin', a little juking

Today on PSN a double dose of Rock Band tunes finally squeezes its way through the pipeline, bringing with it a mess of Guitar Hero III tracks. If toy instruments aren't your forte, consider investing in some new cars for ProStreet (how can you resist a bimmer for a mere $2.50?) or shed those pads and wrap your arms around a real man in the free NFL Tour demo. That, or sit back and watch be jealous that Japan is actually playing GT5 Prologue.

Euro folk can peep this week's "surely not" offerings over on PS3 Fanboy. Full details of the US update are posted after the break.

(Cheater) Shawne Merriman elected to grace NFL Tour cover

Congratulations, voters -- you've elected San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne "They weren't steroids, it was tainted supplement I won't identify" Merriman to the cover of EA's NFL Tour, a relaunch of the NFL Street series. The contest, launched at the official website in September, pitted Merriman against Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor and Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeny.

It's almost unfortunate to think that a cheater, suspended for four games last season for violating the National Football League's substance abuse policy, gets to be on the cover of a video game. What a wonderful lesson for kids: "It's okay if you juice, Timmy, you just might go to the Pro Bowl after you serve your suspension. If you're lucky, you might end up on the cover of a video game!"
