So, Nickelback <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/25/rock-band-weekly-nickelback/">returns</a> with more <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly"><em>Rock Band</em> DLC</a> next week -- whether you and Harmonix like it or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/06/overheard-pax-harmonix-talks-nickel-smack/">not</a>. There are also pro guitar and bass upgrades for three Red Hot Chili tracks.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/rock-band-weekly-nickelback-red-hot-chili-pepper-upgrades/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rock Band Weekly: Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Pepper upgrades</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/rock-band-weekly-nickelback-red-hot-chili-pepper-upgrades/">Rock Band Weekly: Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Pepper upgrades</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Nov 2011 19:30:00 EST. Tapulous, maker of the popular <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tap-tap-revenge">Tap Tap Revenge</a> </em>rhythm games for iPhone, has <a href="http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20100628006698/en/Nickelback-Tapulous-Help-Players-Find-Their-Inner">announced</a> the arrival of the latest entry in the series: <em>Nickelback Revenge</em>. Now, this normally wouldn't rate very high on our interest-o-meters, if not for the critical comments about music games made by Nickelback signer Chad Kroeger back in late 2008, telling gamers to "put down the <em>Guitar Hero</em>" and start real bands.<br />
<br />
Today, Kroeger is signing a different tune. "The combination of our music and Tapulous' gameplay is very cool," the band's frontman said of the game. "We're excited to give our fans a fun, interactive way to experience our music." Surely not more fun or interactive than playing a real guitar, in a real band. Right, Chad? <em>Right</em>?<br />
<br />
Hey, at least Nickelback hasn't let its music appear in any other music games, let alone one that uses plastic guitars. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/25/rock-band-weekly-nickelback/">What</a>? Oh.<br />

Harmonix's Caleb Epps: So, you guys probably heard about Nickelback saying <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/nickelback-singer-put-down-the-guitar-hero/">negative stuff </a>about music games ...<br />
<br />
Crowd: (Boo!)<br />
<br />
Epps: I just want to extend an olive branch to Nickelback, and say that if they want to put their music into the Rock Band Network ...<br />
<br />
Crowd: (Emphatic boo!)<br />
<br />
Epps: Well, guys, it's peer-reviewed, so you can just vote them way down.<br />
<br />
Crowd: (Emphatic cheer!)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/06/overheard-pax-harmonix-talks-nickel-smack/">Overheard@PAX: Harmonix talks Nickel-smack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Sep 2009 15:00:00 EST. <br />Activision has revealed the January line-up of downloadable content for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/european-bands-sign-up-for-world-tour/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero World Tour</span></a> will be fronted by Mancunian <a href="http://achewood.com/index.php?date=07152003">professional scowlers</a> Oasis. On January 29, the eight tracks from 2008 album "Dig Out Your Soul" that <span style="font-style: italic;">haven't</span> already appeared as <span style="font-style: italic;">World Tour</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dlc">DLC</a> will be yours to download.* Other than that, we'll be getting various themed weeks: one on country music, one with Australian bands, and one based on, um, the works of Travis Barker.<br /><br />* INCOMING: Wii Fanboy opinion on <span style="font-style: italic;">modern music</span> to show we are 'down with the kids': "Dig Out Your Soul" is probably their best album since <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_The_Story_Morning_Glory">1995</a> -- not difficult to believe, because they've recorded some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_Here_Now_%28album%29">real</a> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_on_the_Shoulder_of_Giants">nonsense</a> since then.<br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;">December 23</span>:<br />

Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger took a quick break from being preternaturally untalented to express his displeasure with music games, saying "So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the <em>Guitar Hero</em>, learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it's hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together, to get out there. It's getting harder and harder, but I think we've done it." <br /><br />So remember gang, every time you play <em>Guitar Hero </em>or <em>Rock Band</em>, you're making it harder for Nickelback to put a show together. ... Well, why are you still sitting here? <em>Play</em>, you magnificent bastards! <em>Play!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/nickelback-singer-put-down-the-guitar-hero/">Nickelback singer: Put down the Guitar Hero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Nov 2008 11:15:00 EST. Nickelback's Chad Kroeger wants you to stop playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero"><em>Guitar Hero</em></a> and would much prefer you pick up a real instrument, he <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1599652/20081118/nickelback.jhtml">recently told MTV</a>. "It's tough to find other bands out there, because either they're making a record, or they just got done touring," he said. "So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the '<em>Guitar Hero</em>,' learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it's hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together, to get out there." You hear that, kids? If you don't play <em>Guitar Hero</em>, you can play real music with Nickelback! Personally, we'd rather play the game.<br /><br />We'll admit the allure of <em>Guitar Hero</em> is probably greater than actually learning how to play guitar. Because the learning curve isn't as steep with the game, and with <em>Guitar Hero</em> including such a wide range of music (well, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/dlc-limitations-mean-no-hendrix-for-guitar-hero-world-tour/">not <em>all </em>music</a>) that is sure to please just about anybody, we can't say we're surprised that the kids would be looking to Activision's music game for their jollies. <br /><br />
<br />[Via <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=202203">CVG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/chad-kroeger-asks-you-to-stop-playing-guitar-hero/">Chad Kroeger asks you to stop playing Guitar Hero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Nov 2008 14:40:00 EST.
