Do not adjust your monitors, do not wipe your glasses clean. You're 100 percent looking at a Super Mario-glossed entry in GungHo's incredibly popular Puzzle & Dragons series, and it's coming to 3DS in Japan this April. GungHo America also notes an "overseas release" of the thus-titled Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition through Nintendo.

[Update: A Nintendo spokesperson told Digital Spy that currently Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition is a "Japanese-only announcement." So it's unclear what exactly GungHo America's referring to by "overseas release." We've reached out to GungHo for clarification.]

Details are limited at the moment - according to Gematsu the match-3 game features both local multiplayer and StreetPass functionality. From another angle, the most important details lie in the numbers. GungHo just revealed that the original mobile Puzzle & Dragons surpassed 6 million downloads in North America, taking the free-to-play game's worldwide tally to more than a staggering 41 million. To put that in perspective, in April 2013 Puzzle & Dragons raked in $3.76 million per day. Furthermore, it's well established that Mario likes gold coins.

If you still puzzled, check out GungHo's announcement trailer below the break.
Continue reading Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. The now-dubbed Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is coming to North America and Europe in fall 2015, NIS America announced this week. The newly revealed subtitle is tied to the game's Alliance Attack battle system. According to NIS, it lets main characters - and main characters only - use special moves when their "relationships are appropriately aligned."

NIS' announcement also reveals the PS4 tactics RPG features more than 40 races and jobs, as well as a new stats-boosting system called Revenge Mode. It's just a hunch, but we're guessing that's a shot of it above. As NIS puts it, "Revenge Mode empowers your characters with bonus stats when they've become fed up of their allies being beat on."
Continue reading Disgaea 5 wings West in 2015

Disgaea 5 wings West in 2015 originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 17 Dec 2014 08:00:00 EST. Nintendo's amiibo toys are selling 1 for 1 in the US with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, according to the publisher. In November, the console fighter sold "nearly 710,000" units going by NPD data, and Nintendo of America said amiibo sales are "approximately equal" to those of the game.

This week's seen Nintendo tiptoe around the subject of some amiibo not returning to market, but the company's kept firm on the most popular toys staying available. Nintendo of America reported the best-sellers to date are, in order, Link, Mario and Pikachu. Sorry, Wii Fit Trainer.
"Certain sold-out Amiibo may return" to store shelves at some point, according to a new Nintendo of America statement provided to Joystiq last night. That may offer hope to those hunting down the rarest toys, but it doesn't necessarily run counter to earlier statements indicating "other [less popular] figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment."

Nintendo of America's full statement reads:

"Some Amiibo were very popular at launch, and it is possible that some Amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period. Certain sold-out Amiibo may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of Amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of Amiibo to come."

Nintendo of America confirmed this week some Amiibo toys "likely will not return to market," following a retailer's claim that the publisher had officially discontinued the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager figures. In a statement provided to several sites including Wired, Kotaku and Destructoid, Nintendo said it'll aim to keep the "most popular" figures available, but that there's only so much shelf space to go around.

"We will aim for certain Amiibo to always be available," reads the statement. "These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment."
Nintendo's lining up Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for February 13, 2015, according the publisher's Facebook page. The big N previously outlined the Wii U game for February, but it's always good to draw a line under things with a specific date. So, you'll all be lining up outside stores... alright, we'll stop with the line thing.

If you hadn't guessed, in Rainbow Curse you draw multicolor lines on the GamePad for Kirby to roll along as the pink puffball traverses weird and wonderful worlds. Talking of the weird and wonderful, check out the game's adorable Japanese box art below the break.
Shulk is the first Amiibo unearthed as retailer-exclusive in the US, according to a listing on GameStop. The figurine of the Xenoblade hero is one of 11 coming to North America in February 2015, and yesterday Nintendo said "some of our retail partners will be releasing a certain number of these as exclusive figures, so stay tuned for details."

Nintendo didn't say which Amiibos are exclusive to which retailers, but we're guessing that "certain number" isn't 1. Anyhow, the other ten toys due in February are Rosalina & Luma, Bowser, Lucario, Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Meta Knight, Sonic, King Dedede and Mega Man.
Nintendo will peel the proverbial banana that is its line-up of upcoming games in a new Direct streaming tomorrow, November 5. The Nintendo of America broadcast will provide "updates about upcoming games for 3DS and Wii U," and it's set to go out at 2PM PT/5PM ET.

As ever, Nintendo's European and Japanese branches are running simultaneous broadcasts for their respective regions; that's 10PM UK time tomorrow and 7AM in Japan on November 6.
Continue reading It's that Nintendo Direct time again, broadcasting tomorrow

It's that Nintendo Direct time again, broadcasting tomorrow originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 04 Nov 2014 09:00:00 EST. Capcom announced court dates for the 3DS redrawn, higher-res Ace Attorney Trilogy, with eShop orders scheduled for December 9 in North America and December 11 in Europe.

The constitutional compilation includes the first three GBA/DS games starring sweat-soaked defense attorney Phoenix Wright, namely Ace Attorney, Ace Attorney: Justice for All and Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. Legal fees are $30 in North America and 30 euros/£25 across the pond, and like Dual Destinies the game is eShop-only, with no physical release in the West.
Minecraft continues its charge onto new systems with a European launch for Vita on October 15. 4J Studios, the UK team porting the sandbox game, tweeted there isn't a confirmed date as yet for North America, adding "hopefully we'll hear soon."

The portable version of Minecraft is cross-buy with its PS3 sibling, meaning if you've already bought the game on PSN for PS3, you can also get it free on Vita, and vice-versa. Back in May, developer Mojang said the asking price is $20 as per PS3, you can transfer saves between PS3 and Vita, and DLC purchases are active across both editions.
It's more of the Samus, but not as you might expect. As revealed in today's Nintendo Direct for Japan, the latest Nintendo collaboration for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate brings Metroid-style gear to Capcom's multiplayer action-RPG. Capcom Unity along with Nintendo of Europe then indicated the Metroquipment is headed to the Western versions of the 3DS game, too.

Details are sparse at present, but as Siliconera reports, Nintendo's Direct stream tied the collaboration to Wii title Metroid: Other M. According to Siliconera, players can undertake quests to hunt down what's needed to make both the Varia and Zero suit as well as the Arm Cannon-like weapon featured in a new trailer - you can check out the vid below the break.
December 5 marks a major new chapter in the mushrooming career of Captain Toad, because that's when the spirited spore-man comes to Wii U in his very own game. Nintendo of America announced the Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker release date today, noting the 3D puzzle-platformer is priced at $40 and is set to support "select" Amiibo figures sometime next year.

Across the ocean, Nintendo of Europe has yet to offer up a release date for the wee captain's outing, so the game remains limited to January 2015 over there.
The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. hammers onto retail shelves on November 21 in North America, with Europe having to wait a little longer until December 5. Nintendo is also launching its Amiibo range of compatible figurines on the same day stateside, while in Europe they'll arrive ahead of the Wii U game on November 28. As previously announced, the figures have a suggested price of $13 each, while the game itself comes in at $60.

That said, by the sounds of it the already released 3DS edition of the brawler is doing handily enough on its own. According to Nintendo, the handheld fighter which hit Japan's stores last month and the West only last week is up to more than 2.8 million sales worldwide.
3DS users can spice up their portable lives with new Home Menu themes, available now not just in Japan but in North America and Europe too. There are five free themes that give the startup screen a basic splash of color, but if you're after something with more pizazz there are purchasable themes too. These themes don't just change the menu wallpaper, but also alter icons and folders as well as sound effects and music. The Zelda: A Link Between Worlds theme, for example, features the game's "Hyrule Main Theme" as its menu music, while the top and bottom screens display the mirror worlds of Hyrule and Lorule.

The current selection, with each theme priced between a buck or two, includes liveries for Mario & Luigi, other Nintendo stars like Yoshi and Peach, and "Geometric Patterns" for those who prefer stripes and polka dots on the go. To start sprucing up your portable following a quick system update, go to the Change Theme menu via the Home Menu button on the top left of the startup screen. There's a specific shop for the purchasable themes, but if you're not prepared to pay you can go with a simple red, blue, yellow, pink or black look, or stick with the default white. Heads-up: aqua blue 3DS plus simple blue theme equals lovely blue loveliness.

Also, if you're holding out for other styles, Nintendo of Europe says an Animal Crossing: New Leaf theme should hit the shop towards of the end of the month.
Continue reading Give your 3DS a Mario paint job with new themes, out now

Give your 3DS a Mario paint job with new themes, out now originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 07 Oct 2014 07:20:00 EST. From Software's Bloodborne is bringing its Victorian violence to North America and Europe on February 6, 2015, just a day after it lands Japan. The news hits as Sony Europe began issuing out alpha invites for the Souls dev's latest action-RPG, but there's no word yet if we can expect similar tests stateside.

Also, there's a new trailer (which you'll find below the break) offering a glimpse at the game's yet-to-be disclosed online systems, which Sony Japan's Masaaki Yamagiwa noted includes "co-operative and asynchronous play." Yamagiwa also teased that some of the asynchronous play is tied to companion nightmarish creatures called Messengers.
Players can sample Final Fantasy 15 next year through a downloadable demo, according to a now removed Game Informer post. The report claimed the demo is titled Episode Duscae - a name Square Enix trademarked earlier this year - and it features some opening sections from the PS4 and Xbox One game. Square Enix hasn't as yet announced a Final Fantasy 15 demo, and we've reached out to the publisher for clarification. The JRPG wasn't included in Square Enix's announced Tokyo Game Show line-up, but today's report will fuel speculation that'll it'll nonetheless appear in some form at the Japanese expo this week.

Game Informer also reported a March 17 release date in North America for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the PS4 and Xbox One port of the 2011 PSP game released only in Japan. The post said the game includes a voucher for the Final Fantasy 15 demo, adding, "A representative from Square Enix could not confirm that the demo will be available the exact same day as Type-0 HD, but it will be coming to both PS4 and Xbox One when it does release."
Remember the Xbox One "Armed Forces" camo controller revealed back in July? Now imagine it blued-up like a proverbial Tobias Fünke, and you got yourself <s>a stew going</s> the Midnight Forces controller, coming to North America exclusively to Best Buy "for a limited time." Like the Armed Forces offering it comes in at $65, and it's due on store shelves on September 28.

The midnight blue controller's also headed to Europe in November. Microsoft confirmed with Digital Spy it's exclusive to Amazon in the UK, with a sterling price tag of £50.

Telltale Games narrowed down the release window for its debut on PS4 and Xbox One, with The Walking Dead scheduled for sometime in October. Disc versions of Season 1 (including the 400 Days DLC) and Season 2 are confirmed for retail shelves next month, followed by the premiere season of The Wolf Among Us in November.
The Walking Dead Season 2 and The Wolf Among Us are also getting retail releases on PS3, Xbox 360 and Vita, though Telltale's wording suggests they may not release alongside the PS4 and Xbox One games. There's nothing official on concrete release dates, but Amazon's been listing October 14 for TWD Season 1 on PS4 and Xbox One since June, with Season 2 dated for October 21. GameStop also has those dates listed, and both retailers have The Wolf Among Us on the new consoles for November 4. According to the listings, each game is priced at $30.
If you look at Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and wish reality would mirror its beastie-besting ways of big swords and even bigger swords, then Capcom's $60 collector's edition may be for you. Unveiled for North America this week, along with the 3DS game it bundles in a "translucent" Gore Magula figure, a Felyne pin, a lanyard dotted with colorful icons, and an emblazoned cleaning cloth (because why not we suppose).

To top it all off, the whole lot is presented inside a blue supply box like the one in the game. Sadly, the box doesn't also include potions, whetstones and a torch, or any raw meat for that matter. More raw meat in all collector's editions, we say - nay, we implore.
Sony's hoping for a few more PS3 sales with a new Lego Batman 3 and The Sly Collection bundle that's coming to North America's retail shelves on November 11.

Like other recent bundles involving the 500GB Slim PS3, it's $270 for the console, the dynamic duo of games and all the usual extras. As for the games themselves, The Sly Collection features HD remasters of the three PS2 entries in the stealth platforming series, namely Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. That's already out in stores, while Lego Batman 3 hits alongside the bundle on November 11, packing more than 150 DC Comics characters into its blocky escapades. They include Superman, Flash, the Green Lantern, and most importantly of all, Adam West, who isn't a DC Comics character (but kind of is at this point.)
The ever-growing, seemingly insatiable Minecraft family welcomes PlayStation 4 today, with a stateside PSN launch locked in for "before 12PM PT" (3PM ET.) Mojang's blocky world of creativity and creepers is already out on PS4 in Europe, as of late last night.

As we reported yesterday, the Xbox One launch is confirmed for tomorrow, September 5. Both the PS4 and Xbox One ports are features-wise on par with PS3/Xbox 360 editions, but the new hardware allows for worlds up to 36 times larger and greater draw distances.
It's witch time: Nintendo announced it's doing another of its single-title Direct broadcasts, and this one is for Platinum's Bayonetta 2. The livestream will air tomorrow, September 4 at 3PM PT (6PM ET, 11PM UK time), and you'll be able to watch it right here on Joystiq.

With the flamboyant hack-and-slash flying players back to the moon fairly soon, Nintendo's keen to push one of its marquee exclusives in yet another games-stuffed holiday season. Bayonetta 2 struts onto retail shelves on October 24 in North America, but for some early thoughts on Platinum's gun-shoe, hair-raising antics, check out our recent video preview.
Ultimate NES Remix infuses 3DS with the series' mashed-up tapas approach to revisiting 8-bit classics, starting November 7 in Europe and December 5 in North America. According to Nintendo's brief announcement the 3DS entry features content from 16 NES games, but the company didn't note if any of that content comes from the NES Remix 1 and NES Remix 2 games already out on Wii U. We've reached out to the big N to learn more, but for now all that's left to say is that it's coming to stores and the eShop, and it's priced at $30.

Meanwhile on Wii U, the NES Remix Pack compilation of the two released entries is coming to North American stores, and also with a $30 price tag.

Update: A Nintendo spokesperson tells Joystiq the 16 games represented in Ultimate NES Remix are the same 16 found in the original NES Remix, though it's unclear what form these revived 8-bit classics will take in the newer release.

Correction: The European release date is November 7, and not November 11 as originally listed. The post's been amended to reflect the correct date.
So this is a bit of an odd one. Back in late 2012/early 2013, Under Defeat HD came to PS3 and Xbox 360 in Japan and Europe. In North America, Rising Star released the remaster of G.rev's Dreamcast and arcade helicopter shoot-em-up exclusively for PS3. Why? Well, we could speculate, but the answer's unknown. Then this week, around two years later and out of the blue, Under Defeat HD finally hit Xbox 360s stateside via Games on Demand.

Despite being a vertical shoot-em-up, Under Defeat is ideally suited for HD widescreen life, as former Managing Editor JC Fletcher explained back in 2012. That HD "New Order" mode - which sadly doesn't have anything to do bizarre love triangles or blue Mondays - is part of the new Xbox 360 version, which is available now to download for $20.
Nintendo of America confirmed the crossover Mario Kart 8 DLC packs spotted yesterday on the company's UK site, with the Zelda pack due to launch stateside in November and the Animal Crossing one in May 2015. Both packs will be available for pre-order starting today, each priced at $8. However, if you know you're going to get both, you can save 25 percent by ordering the $12 two-in-one bundle.

The saving doesn't apply if you buy both packs separately, unfortunately. On the flip side, anyone who buys both packs unlocks eight new colors of Yoshi and Shy Guy "immediately," in case you're in immediate need of some technicolor racing.
Square Enix unveiled Dragon Quest 4 as part of its line-up for the upcoming Gamescom conference, confirming the mobile port for a Western release. The Enix RPG, which first came to North America as Dragon Warrior 4 back in 1992, will be the series' second entry to reach international mobiles after Dragon Quest 8 back in May. No surprises but the mobile port is based on the 2008 DS version rather than the NES original.

As for the other upcoming games in Square Enix's line-up, Gamescom attendees can try out Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Kindgom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. The publisher will also be showing Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, Nosgoth and Dragon Quest 8 - again, no surprises, but no sign of Kingdom Hearts 3 or Final Fantasy 15 in the line-up.

This year's Gamescom conference begins on August 13, and we'll be there in Germany to cover all the major goings-on, including all the latest Kölsch stats.
If you're unfamiliar with Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, that may be because Nihon Falcom's acclaimed PSP JRPG only headed West towards the end of the system's life cycle. The good news is there's now a new way of playing it, with the trilogy's first chapter coming to Steam later today, courtesy of XSEED.

XSEED is also bringing follow-up Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter to North America on PSP and Steam, but that's gonna take a bit more time to arrive. According to the publisher, the best fans should hope for is "the end of the year."

As for Trails in the Sky, its regular Steam price is $20 but there's a 15 percent first-week sale if you fancy dipping in early. For more on why it's worth a look, read this.
Bandai Namco confirmed it's bringing Shadow Warrior to PS4 and Xbox One in Europe on September 26. Majesco's not yet announced a US date beyond "late September," but GameStop's listing of September 23 tallies with the typical three-day gap between regions.

Described as a "bold re-imagining" of 3D Realms' 1997 shooter, the new Shadow Warrior hit PC around the same time last year. It retained a few Lo Wang jokes but toned down the stereotyping, delivering a more modern mix of first-person shooting and swordfighting.

Funimation provided a first look - moreover a first listen - at its English-dubbed version of feature-length anime Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. Directed by Afro Samurai's Fuminori Kizaki, the Western version sees Hellena Taylor reprise her role as the vivacious witch, so that's a big plus. The film will be available in North America as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo starting October 21 - it's currently priced $26.24 on Funimation's site.

Meanwhile, the clock's ticking down on the Western launch of Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2. The hopefully enchanting spectacle featuring the bespectacled enchantress is coming to North America and Europe sometime in October.
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is proving a commercial hit as well as a critical one, shipping an impressive one million copies worldwide. Square Enix announced (via Dengeki Online) the 3DS JRPG shifted 400,000 in Japan and 600,000 overseas, including download sales.

While it has its roots entrenched in old-school Final Fantasy, Bravely Default is still a new property, so the figures are strong. They've already made a similarly strong impression on president Yosuke Matsuda, who said the game's global sales made his company reconsider its approach to JRPG development.

As we're still stuck in the July drought of major new releases, now's as good a time as any to check out some of the smaller games hitting systems. The Wii U has a few such games this week, including some that have made the journey from other platforms.

If you like the sound of sci-fi first-person horror, Master Reboot's exploration of uploading consciousness may be for you. If you'd prefer something lighter, Wooden Sen'Sey promises action-platforming with "Japan Steam Rock" humor - y'know, like all those Japanese Steam Rock sitcoms. Both games are also available on PC, and PS3 too for Master Reboot.

The game that catches our eye this week, though, is on 3DS, and it's Siesta Fiesta. It looks like Breakout combined with the colorful, over-cheery craziness of games like Rayman and LocoRoco, and it's definitely the season for something like that.

As ever, faithful readers of this weekly post, you'll find the full list of new releases below the break. That just leaves new sales to talk about: Trine 2 is 60 percent off - that's down from $20 to $8 - until August 12, while Atlus games Devil Survivor Overclocked ($15), Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers ($15), Shin Megami Tensei 4 ($24) and Code of Princess ($15) are all on sale until August 4.
Continue reading New Nintendo eShop releases: Siesta Fiesta, Wooden Sen'Sey, Master Reboot

New Nintendo eShop releases: Siesta Fiesta, Wooden Sen'Sey, Master Reboot originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 24 Jul 2014 11:00:00 EST. Persona Q, the 3DS spin-off which isn't a tribute to James Bond's gadgets man, hits North America on November 25. The release date arrives courtesy of a new trailer re-featuring the game's opening movie, providing you with the perfect excuse to let your heart melt as you re-watch Kanji hugging Koromaru - it just might be too adorable.

Persona Q brings together the characters of Persona 3 and Persona 4, but it also brings in mapping elements from the Etrian Odyssey series. While that may be an unknown quantity to Persona fans, the story will make them feel right at home: It all takes place at a parallel version of Yasogami High School, one that's home to a dark, foreboding tower. The word on the parallel street is anyone who hears the tower bell ring out is certain to die. Naturally, our chibi-fied Persona team sets off to investigate.
It's one of those weeks on the eShop where the headline covers two-thirds of the new releases. The missing part of the triforce? Collavier Corporation's Comic Workshop, a game that doesn't, sadly, teach you how to become the next Kevin Hart.

There's not much to say about the other two games, really. Mr. Driller 2 keeps the Game Boy Advance train advancing along with its diggable puzzling, while Strike Force Foxx harkens back to 1982 classic Choplifter, albeit with a villain wearing underwear on his head.
Continue reading New Nintendo eShop releases: Strike Force Foxx, Mr. Driller 2

New Nintendo eShop releases: Strike Force Foxx, Mr. Driller 2 originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 17 Jul 2014 15:30:00 EST. Marking a change from the calendars, posters and other Nintendoodads, the 2014 Club Nintendo elite rewards for North America are all downloadable games. While that'll disappoint some of you, as a European I have to note on our side of the ocean it's all physical - and personally, not the most appealing selection either. So if you want to swap places... well, we can't, but you get the drift.

As before, qualifying Platinum members can have their pick of one Gold or one Platinum gift, while Gold members have to make do with the golden selection. If I were so lucky, I'd pick one of Game & Wario, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Dr. Luigi and Earthbound from the Platinum games. On the Gold side, I'm totally in the mood for some Zelda 2. Sigh.
Xbox spokesoldier Major Nelson says the new special edition Xbox One controller and stereo headset are "Armed Forces" accessories, but camouflage needn't be limited to the military. If you've ever wanted gaming time away from prying eyes, you can truly become invisible with these additions to your Xbox One setup. As long as you have a camouflage room, that is, which all the cool kids do.

The $65 controller and $90 headset are due to launch in North America this October.

Retro-styled beat-em-up Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds hits Western Vitas for the first time on July 29, both in North America and Europe. 5pb plans to release details on pricing and DLC soon, though it did confirm - no surprises - a PSN release only.

Xbox 360 owners may already be familiar with the four-player chibi-fied spinoff of fighter Phantom Breaker. Oddly, that game is still limited to Japan, yet Battle Grounds will soon be in the West on two separate platforms. As for new content, in Japan the game received new modes and characters as DLC, but we'll have to see how much 5pb has brought across.

The Don't Starve: Reign of Giants expansion stomps all over the PS4 next week, starting July 22 in North America and July 23 in Europe. The single-player DLC is priced $5 on PSN, while PS Plus members get to feast on a 10 percent discount at launch.

PC players have been getting familiar with Reign of Giants over the last few months, while Vita owners can look forward to it as part of the upcoming port. Besides the eponymous giants, the content includes new characters, seasons and biomes to explore, as well as an extra save slot. Lords of the Fallen brings its dark fantasy action-RPG gameplay to North America on October 28, with Europe penciled in for October 31. No word yet on US prices, but in the UK it'll be priced £50 on PS4 and Xbox One, and £30 on PC.

Lords of the Fallen pits you as Harkyn, a convict and a meaty slab of a man who has to step up when the army of a fallen god threatens his world. That unyielding world is matched by combat and gameplay systems designed to keep players on their toes, rather than going in with gung-ho recklessness. According to Executive Producer Tomasz Gop, the third-person action-RPG "has all the layers, all the complexity, all the mechanics, all the elements of very advanced tactical combat."
Localization specialist NIS America announced three new games for North America and Europe over the weekend, kicking off with The Firefly Diary this fall on Vita. Nippon Ichi's puzzle-platformer will be followed in 2015 by Guided Fate Paradox sequel The Awakened Fate Ultimatum and Vita RPG Criminal Girls: Invite Only.

The Firefly Diary is heavily based around the Vita's touch capabilities. As Gematsu reports, you control a pair of firefly-like fairies with the task of guiding a young girl through perilous ruins. One of the fairies is based in a light world, the other a shadow world, and you switch between the two to solve the game's puzzles. Here's where the touch gameplay come in: The light fairy is controlled by the front touchscreen, while the rear touch pad moves the shadow fairy around (Push Square notes you can tie both fairies to the touchscreen if you prefer.) If you fancy a gander at The Firefly Diary, check out the trailer below the break.
Continue reading NIS America's new imports include Guided Fate Paradox sequel

NIS America's new imports include Guided Fate Paradox sequel originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 07 Jul 2014 06:00:00 EST.
