French site <a href="http://www.logic-sunrise.com/news-115010-de-nouvelles-images-du-futur-dashboard-360.html">Logic-Sunrise</a> has posted shots of what appears to be a new version of the Xbox 360 Dashboard interface. This purported UI features a "Natal Tuner" application and a "Natal" setup process (which cutely directs requests for help to the @xboxsupport Twitter account). Since it hasn't been updated with the new "Kinect" title, these shots likely originate from an older dashboard build.<br />
<br />
It makes sense for Microsoft to ready a new Dashboard -- the console has a new look and a new <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/kinect">controller</a>, so it only follows that Microsoft would take that last rebranding step for the next phase of the Xbox 360 life cycle.<br />
<br />
[Update: The images have been removed from <a href="http://www.logic-sunrise.com/news-115010-de-nouvelles-images-du-futur-dashboard-360.html">Logic-Sunrise</a>, replaced by a Microsoft takedown notice.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/14/rumor-images-of-new-xbox-360-dashboard-leaked/">Rumor: Images of new Xbox 360 dashboard leaked [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jul 2010 21:30:00 EST. When the last Xbox 360 NXE update <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/new-xbox-update-to-shrink-some-hard-drive-installs/">reduced the footprint</a> of some full game installations, many assumed that Microsoft had simply employed an advanced <em>mom-packs-your-suitcase</em> algorithm. And while that wasn't the most technically accurate assumption, it didn't stray too far from the layman's truth. <br />
<br />
"Xbox 360 game disc layouts are optimized for the reading speeds of optical discs drives and attempt to concentrate the game disc data at the fastest read locations on the disc," Thomas Soemo writes on the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/engineeringblog/default.htm">Xbox Engineering Blog</a>. "This typically ends up creating gaps at the beginning, end, and in the middle of the disc layout where layer 1 transfers to layer 2." Soemo, a senior program manager lead at Microsoft, explains that in creating the update, "we went back and examined how much potential space savings we could deliver to customers by removing these gaps that can occur in the middle of the game code in the disc layout."<br />
<br />
Removing the gaps benefited not only game installations, but the size of games obtained via Microsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/games-on-demand">Games on Demand </a>service, which uses "the same underlying technology." <br />
<br />
Also, your mom uses the same underlying technology.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/04/xbox-engineering-blog-explains-smaller-game-installations/">Xbox Engineering Blog explains smaller game installations</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Feb 2010 15:15:00 EST. The man known as Major Nelson has been so kind as to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/ms-enables-child-accounts-for-360-twitter-facebook-last-fm/">remind</a> us all that child accounts for Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm have now been <a href="http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2009/12/15/twitter-facebook-and-last-fm-now-available-for-those-lt-18-in-the-u-s.aspx">enabled for US Xbox 360 users</a>. Once granted parental permission, Xbox Live child account holders over the age of 13 will be able to access these applications. The Major reminds everyone to make sure to select automatic logins for all the applications, otherwise you will be prompted for parental permission every time an app is launched. We'd have to agree with his advice. After all, Mom coming in to give you and your friends Tang and lemon squares: Cool. Mom coming in to log you into Facebook: Not cool.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/15/facebook-twitter-last-fm-now-support-xbox-child-accounts-in-us/">Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm now support Xbox child accounts in US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Dec 2009 14:26:00 EST. According to Microsoft, nearly two million Xbox Live users logged into Facebook through the console's new built-in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dashboard-update">social media</a> applications. Based on <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2009/11/24/bu124.aspx?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MSGamesPressAlerts+%28Microsoft+Games+Press+Alerts%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">a vague estimate</a> provided by Microsoft, it appears that around ten percent of all Xbox Live Gold accounts used the application within its first week of availability; however, it's possible many of those users only logged in to see the new feature in action.<br /><br />Microsoft also stated the addition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Lastfm/">Last.fm</a> -- a music streaming service currently only available for US and UK gamers -- prompted nearly one million new profile activations. In its first week, Last.fm users streamed "more than 120 million minutes" of music to their Xbox 360 consoles. If we've learned one thing from these numbers, it's that people love to click on shiny new boxes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/28/microsoft-reveals-usage-stats-for-facebook-last-fm/">Microsoft reveals usage stats for Facebook, Last.fm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 28 Nov 2009 13:30:00 EST. Xbox owners: You have five days to start thinking of your lives and the lives of others in trivial, 140-character chunks. Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten has told <a href="http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/kevin-ohannessian/not-quite-conversation/facebook-and-twitter-come-xbox-live-tuesday">Fast Company</a> that the Dashboard update containing Twitter and Facebook integration will officially arrive on November 17. <br /> <br /> If the date seems familiar, you're not losing your marbles: The specific timing for the update was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/12/xbox-removes-nov-17-release-date-for-twitter-facebook-from-uk-s/">revealed and reneged last month</a>. Now, you'd better hurry up and beat the Chatpad rush at the store.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/facebook-and-twitter-coming-to-xbox-nov-17/">Facebook and Twitter coming to Xbox Nov. 17</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Nov 2009 12:30:00 EST. One of the conveniences introduced by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nxe">NXE</a> last year was the ability to install games onto the Xbox 360 hard drive. Unfortunately, a select few games don't support the feature. Chief among the unsupported titles is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crackdown"><em>Crackdown</em></a>, Microsoft's addicting open-world action game. At least, it <em>was</em> until now, as Major Nelson has <a href="http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/5483393919">informed the masses</a> that a title update is now available on Live that enables HDD installation of <em>Crackdown</em>.<br />

Remember agent, installing isn't just for convenience, it's also for saving wear and tear on the DVD drive -- especially in games like <em>Crackdown</em>, which stream data constantly.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/09/crackdown-hdd-installation-now-available/">Crackdown HDD installation now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Nov 2009 12:45:00 EST. If rumors circulating around <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378612">NeoGAF</a> prove true, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Modern-Warfare-2/">Modern Warfare 2</a></em> developer Infinity Ward won't be allowing the use of the Xbox 360's party chat feature during ranked multiplayer playlists in its upcoming title. Since a distinction in the post is made between different styles of online matches (ranked and social), we presume the function will not be utilized throughout all of <em>Modern Warfare 2</em>'s online playlists.<br /><br />Speaking with Joystiq, Infinity Ward community manager <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Robert-Bowling/">Robert Bowling</a> said the company "can't comment on leaks," and was unable to confirm if the feature will, in fact, be disabled. "Players should reserve judgment until they get a chance to experience it for themselves on November 10 instead of viewing it out of context," Bowling added. Have an opinion on the matter? Sound off in the comments.<br /><br />

As it <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/new-xbox-experience-beta-signups-open/">has done</a> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ms-opens-xbox-live-update-preview-program/">the past</a>, Microsoft is offering early access to its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dashboard-update-fall-2009/">next Xbox 360 Dashboard update</a> (which integrates Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm and Zune Marketplace) to those who sign up -- and are then selected -- to preview it. Major Nelson has just updated <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/14/Xbox-LIVE-Preview-Program-Zune-Facebook-and-Twitter.aspx">his blog</a> with word that the signup process has begun for the program, mentioning that Microsoft is looking for "multiple thousands" of users to test out the update. So, sounds like chances of getting in are good.<br /><br />Those wishing to put their names in the hat for preview access can do so by hitting the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/XboxLIVEUpdate">Microsoft Connect site</a> and filling out a survey. The preview program is being offered in all territories where Xbox Live is available, but keep in mind you'll need a Windows Live ID in order to apply. The Major says those who've been picked will receive an email in about a week; after which the update will be pushed out to their consoles, and they can start bragging about their early access via Twitter and Facebook <em>right from their 360s</em>.<br /><br />If past Dashboard preview programs are anything to go by, everyone who signs up will eventually gain access just prior to the update's release -- which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/12/xbox-removes-nov-17-release-date-for-twitter-facebook-from-uk-s/">may happen on November 17</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/">Facebook / Twitter on Xbox 360</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/#2064830"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/twitter-xbox-3-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/#2064829"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/twitter-xbox-2-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/#2064828"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/twitter-xbox-1-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/#2064824"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/newsfeedadd-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-360/#2064823"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/inbox-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/xbox-360-dashboard-update-preview-open-for-signups/">Xbox 360 Dashboard update 'preview' open for signups</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 18:15:00 EST. Microsoft informed us this afternoon that its initial offerings of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/games-on-demand">Games on Demand</a>, the company's selection of downloadable Xbox 360 titles, will be priced between <span class="album_title">1600</span>-2400<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span> -- that's $20-30 in American <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/full-xbox-360-game-downloads-arriving-in-august/">credit card</a> currency. We got a little curious after one price was revealed in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/first-batch-of-xbox-games-on-demand-titles-revealed/">video earlier today</a>, but we wanted to make sure about the rest.<br />
<br />
We're currently working on getting the full list of prices for each game, but all will be revealed next week when the latest dashboard update goes live, on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/xbox-live-dashboard-update-arrives-aug-11/">August 11</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/xbox-360-games-on-demand-priced-between-20-30/">Xbox 360 'Games on Demand' priced between $20-$30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Aug 2009 21:58:00 EST. Posters on <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202456">Cheap Ass Gamer</a> who keep track of Xbox 360 hard drive installs noticed that those who'd been admitted to the dashboard update preview program were seeing games take up markedly less space than before (a fact later confirmed by <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-xbox360-summer-09-update-article">Digital Foundry</a>). How much smaller? Well, DF noticed that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii">King of Fighters XII</a> </em>and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/raiden-fighters-aces">Raiden Fighters Aces</a> </em>went from 3.4GB to 703 and 484MB respectively, post update.<br /><br />By DF's approximation, the update allows the system to be more efficient in selecting what non-essential data it puts on the hard drive. Though that results in a big savings in some cases, there are exceptions. <em>Fable 2</em>, for example, is no smaller post-update, leading us to assume Lionhead needed every inch of the disc for all that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2008-fable-2/">GOTY material</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/new-xbox-update-to-shrink-some-hard-drive-installs/">New Xbox update to shrink some hard drive installs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 11:30:00 EST. Update: According to the comments in this story, the Xbox 360 Dashboard Preview has begun to roll out now.<br /><br />If you were quick enough on the draw to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ms-opens-xbox-live-update-preview-program/">sign up</a>, you may notice an email from Microsoft in your inbox today inviting you into the new Xbox 360 Dashboard Preview. The public preview -- which opened up for selected press and MVPs <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/xbox-live-dashboard-update-preview-goes-live/">earlier last week</a> -- is not fully live just yet, but Microsoft is notifying users if they were accepted into the program. Unaware of what to expect when the new dashboard hits this August? Joystiq has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/video-tour-xbox-live-update-netflix-and-avatar-marketplace/">a lengthy guide</a> with a plethora of videos to show you the ropes for the "New New Xbox Experience." So much for our Friday night plans to give <em>The Iron Giant</em> the ol' MST3K treatment. Just as we were dimming the lights and pulling our headsets close, the fine print struck: "This can't be watched with a party." As it turns out, certain Netflix Instant Watch videos can't be subjected to the new "Movie Parties" feature, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/xbox-live-update-detailed-games-on-demand-netflix-queue-movie/">included</a> in the next Xbox Live Dashboard update. <em>Pineapple Express</em> and <em>The Legend of Drunken Master</em> are two additional examples of incompatible movies we stumbled across -- there's no way to tell until you select a movie in your queue -- in our preview of the updated Netflix experience (video after the break). One obvious connection is that all three films are licensed under Netflix's "Starz Play" catalog.<br /><br />You'll remember that when Instant Watch first launched on Xbox 360 there was a licensing issue that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/nxe-netflix-streaming-queues-suddenly-gimped/">blocked </a>Sony's Columbia Pictures content, though this was eventually <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/columbia-movies-back-on-netflix-instant-view/">resolved</a>. We've reached out to Netlfix and Microsoft for comment on the current issue. Now, if you'll excuse us, we've got to find an alternate use for all this popcorn we'd planned to toss about our living room.<br /><strong><br />Update:</strong> A Microsoft spokesperson had this to say: "We are working closely with our partners and studios to deliver Xbox Live Parties for as much content as possible. We offered the Xbox Live Party feature to all content owners, and what's up on the service reflects what the rights holders are comfortable with. We're confident that the community will be pleased with the great selection of Party-enabled content."<br /><br />Additionally, a Netflix spokesperson further clarified, "We're working with Microsoft and the studios to instantly stream as many movies and TV episodes as possible for Xbox Live parties. Certain content providers don't provide rights for their content to be instantly watched in party mode. We're confident that the community will be pleased with the broad selection of movies and TV episodes that are available to instantly watch in party mode."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/xbox-netflix-movie-parties-some-restrictions-apply/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox Netflix Movie Parties: Some restrictions apply [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/xbox-netflix-movie-parties-some-restrictions-apply/">Xbox Netflix Movie Parties: Some restrictions apply [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Jul 2009 19:00:00 EST. Would you like to be one of the movers and shakers to get the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/xbox-live-update-detailed-games-on-demand-netflix-queue-movie/">upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update</a> <em>before</em> all the filthy, "regular" people? If so, you'll be happy to know that <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/07/20/xbox-360-system-update-preview-program.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has just announced an Xbox Live Update preview program. Microsoft ran a similar program prior to the NXE, which allowed lots of gamers everywhere the chance to see all the fabulous updates early.<br /><br />The new update includes plenty of cool new features, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/06/video-xbox-360-games-on-demand-service/">Games on Demand</a> Movie Parties for Netflix and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/microsoft-announces-avatar-marketplace-unlockable-apparel/">Avatar Awardables</a>, so we <em>know</em> you want in. To register, simply head over to <a href="https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&amp;rpsnv=11&amp;ct=1248107225&amp;rver=4.0.1534.0&amp;wp=MBI_SSL&amp;wreply=https:%2F%2Fconnect.microsoft.com%2FInvitationUse.aspx%3FProgramID%3D3539%26SiteID%3D719%26InvitationID%3DENPR-CQKT-QXYV&amp;lc=1033&amp;id=64416">Microsoft Connect</a>, sign in with the Live ID connected to your Gamertag and then fill out the "Xbox LIVE Update Preview Sign Up" survey. The program is open to both Silver and Gold Xbox Live members, though Major Nelson notes that preference will be given to Gold members. If you make it into the program -- MS is accepting "multiple thousands" of participants -- you should be contacted in about a week.<br /><br />Good luck!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ms-opens-xbox-live-update-preview-program/">MS opens Xbox Live update preview program</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 12:45:00 EST. <br />Microsoft just dropped some details on the upcoming Xbox Live Dashboard update which begins rolling out later this summer - first, and perhaps most notably, we'll hit what <em>won't be</em> in this update: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/facebook-twitter-on-xbox-live-this-fall/">Facebook, Twitter</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/last.fm">Last.fm</a> support, along with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/xbox-video-marketplace-relaunched-as-zune-video-this-fall/">Zune video and 1080p Instant On</a> video functionality. Those are coming in "future Xbox Live updates" Microsoft assures us. "Updates" <em>plural</em>, eh? <br /><br />So, what is included? The Games on Demand feature will be available in August, giving you access to digital downloads of full retail games. Check out our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/06/video-xbox-360-games-on-demand-service/">video of the feature here</a>. Netflix is being updated in a big way, bringing Movie Parties (kick back in a virtual theater - think "Party System" for your Netflix movies) and the ability to manage your Netflix queue right from the Xbox. They're also touting an "Enhanced Playback Experience" which we presume uses the latest Silverlight "Smooth Streaming" technology (<a href="http://www.iis.net/media/experiencesmoothstreaming">see the demo here</a>).<br /><br />Also included: The Avatar Marketplace, so you can buy virtual crap for your Avatar; User ratings, so you can attach a star rating to "every game on the Xbox LIVE Games Marketplace" (this thankfully includes Community ... err, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/11/xbox-live-community-games-become-indie-games/">Indie Games</a> which have been sorely in need of <em>community</em> moderation!); and more. You can check out the full list after the break, or peruse the gallery of screens Microsoft just dropped on us.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/">Xbox Live Dashboard Update (2009)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/#2148398"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/welcomechannel_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/#2148396"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/friends-list-sorted-by-status_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/#2148395"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/amp_steampunk_a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/#2148394"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/amp_dresses_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-live-dashboard-update-2009/#2148393"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/achievement-tracker_a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/xbox-live-update-detailed-games-on-demand-netflix-queue-movie/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox Live update detailed: Games on Demand, Netflix queue/Movie Party, and more </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/xbox-live-update-detailed-games-on-demand-netflix-queue-movie/">Xbox Live update detailed: Games on Demand, Netflix queue/Movie Party, and more </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 21:23:00 EST. <a href="javascript:void(0);/*1247086177045*/">GameCinema HD</a> is hosting some images of what could be some of the new Xbox 360 features announced at E3. In the screen above, you can see sections for both the<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/microsoft-announces-avatar-marketplace-unlockable-apparel/"> Avatar Marketplace</a> as well as a space for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/27/microsoft-beta-testing-avatar-awards/">Avatar Awards</a>. Other shots show off these areas themselves, though they are understandably empty right now. The screens also include new Xbox Live Marketplace entries for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/games-on-demand">Games on Demand</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/11/xbox-live-community-games-become-indie-games/">Indie Games</a> (no shots of the inside of either of these areas, unfortunately).<br /><br />We find it a bit strange that someone willing to leak images of the new features would fail to edit out their own gamertag, though -- you'll notice it's in the upper left corner, clear as crystal. A quick check reveals that there is no Hobbtao gamertag listed on Xbox Live, which could mean a couple of things. One, these images are from an Xbox 360 dev kit, meaning Mr. Hobbtao is probably in violation of a Microsoft NDA. Two, the images are fakes.<br /><br />Regardless, we're talking about <em>menus</em> here, which aren't nearly as exciting as what they <em>contain</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/07/08/rumor-xbox-live-dashboard-update-pics-surface/">VG247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/possible-pictures-of-new-nxe-features-emerge/">Possible pictures of new NXE features emerge</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. Joystiq tipsters -- and <a href="http://www.xbox.com">Xbox.com</a> regulars -- have noticed a strange <em>Beta 2009</em> icon appearing on some Xbox 360 'Played Games' profiles. While speculation (or <em>hopes and dreams</em>) was that the icon was related to something <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-reach/">important</a>, sources tell Joystiq that Microsoft is internally testing Avatar awards. Sorry, no <em>megatons</em> here.<br /><br />From what we've been told, the test is an executable built for Beta users to play with the awards program before it launches. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Avatar/">Avatar</a> awards are triggered by in-game achievements: when a player unlocks an award -- clothing was the only specific award mentioned -- it is made available in the Avatar customization menu of the NXE. Select Xbox 360 users are already sporting <a href="http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?pp=0&amp;GamerTag=major+nelson">fancy new threads</a>, which are presumably related to this beta test.<br /><br />Avatar awards were one of the many new features coming to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">NXE</a> revealed at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@E3-2009/">E3 2009</a> -- including the <strike>smart</strike> evil idea of charging users for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/microsoft-announces-avatar-marketplace-unlockable-apparel/">real "cool" stuff</a>.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/27/microsoft-beta-testing-avatar-awards/">Microsoft beta testing Avatar awards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Jun 2009 18:00:00 EST. Oh, you thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">NXE</a> was the last dashboard update you'd be able to sink you mitts into? No dice. Xbox Live spokesman Major Nelson said <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/06/21/show-323-e3-2009-and-iraq.aspx">on his show</a> this week that the next update for the 360 would increase the speed of the guide. "<span class="text_article_body">Whatever we call it (and it's not going to be called the NNXE), but whatever the next version of the dashboard is called, it's better with <em>a lot</em> of very cool new features," he said. "That update will be out later this year."<br /><br />We haven't talked about this sort of thing in a while, so we're curious: What updates would you still like to see to the dashboard?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=217955">CVG</a>] </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/major-nelson-xbox-360-guide-faster-after-next-update/">Major Nelson: Xbox 360 guide faster after next update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 13:45:00 EST. E3 was <em>br&uuml;tal!</em> If you blinked, for a <span style="font-style: italic;">split/second,</span> you missed something. Even if you were <span style="font-style: italic;">trine</span> to keep up, it was a <span style="font-style: italic;">blur</span> -- staying <span style="font-style: italic;">a.wake</span> like that, you only pushed yourself to the <span style="font-style: italic;">brink</span> of your own <span style="font-style: italic;">dark void</span>. That's where Joystiq comes in; to <span style="font-style: italic;">crackdown</span> on the madness; to <span style="font-style: italic;">reach</span> out ... with <em>conviction</em> -- phew! <span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis</span> averted.<br />
<br />
We've scoured the <span style="font-style: italic;">dark corners</span> and survived the <span style="font-style: italic;">inferno</span> to piece together this roundup of all things Xbox at E3. Why? <span style="font-style: italic;">Just 'cause</span> we love you. So, draw <span style="font-style: italic;">nier</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">shift</span> your eyes past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/">E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 11:45:00 EST. Want to watch some Netflix movies, but afraid that your dilapidated couch's springs will grievously injure the tender buttocks of your lady friend? Well, try inviting her into your Xbox Live party*, which, according to Microsoft's E3 press conference, will soon support online, virtual couch viewing of all media -- including images, Netflix videos and your culturally outdated music.<br /><br />Hey, anybody wanna watch Van Helsing with us? Earlier this year, we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/preview-premium-nxe-themes-before-you-buy/">reported</a> on NXEThemes.com, which showed off previews of various premium (read: paid) themes for the Xbox 360. Alas, it appears that NXE Themes has gone kaput, so what's a frugal, design-conscious gamer to do? Easy, just head over to <a href="http://www.themexbox.com/index.php">Theme Xbox</a>.<br /><br />The website has YouTube previews of premium NXE themes, allowing you to check out every facet of a given theme before plunking down your hard-earned Microsoft Points. Granted, the website could use some tweaking -- it's currently just a forum -- but it's definitely better than wasting money on a bad theme. Finally, you can stop agonizing over whether or not to pick up that <em>Sonic Unleashed </em>theme.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/website-previews-premium-xbox-themes/">Website previews premium Xbox themes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Apr 2009 18:00:00 EST. The above image (used to promote the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/banjo-tooie"><em>Banjo-Tooie</em></a> premium theme for Xbox 360) was revealed via <a href="http://forums.banjo-kazooie.com/blogs/sample_weblog/archive/2009/04/07/44601.aspx">the <em>Banjo-Kazooie</em> forums</a>. Notice anything? No, not the huge, red arrow. Look at what it's <em>pointing at</em>. What could that be?<br /><br />Forum users are saying it's an icon for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=perfect+dark&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">Perfect Dark</a> </em>on XBLA, though it could be anything, really. We should also mention that Rare does like messing with fans. Remember that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/rares-christmas-card-lacking-killer-instinct-or-is-it/">Christmas card debacle</a>? This could be another tease that goes ... <em>nowhere.</em> Also, how do we know that Rare isn't developing a game called <em>"Person Stuck in White Room"?</em> Hey, it could happen!<br /><br />Regardless, we contacted Microsoft about the possibility of <em>Perfect Dark</em> on XBLA. The company's response: "We have nothing to announce at this time."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-2499-Perfect-Dark-Remake-Set-for-an-XBLA-Release?.html">Xbox360Achievements</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/09/rumor-rare-accidentally-reveals-perfect-dark-xbla/">Rumor: Rare 'accidentally' reveals Perfect Dark XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 21:00:00 EST. Brand new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Avatar/">Avatar</a> threads are now available for your virtual-selves. This week's additions include <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/03/31/business-clothes-now-available-for-your-avatar.aspx">business clothes </a>for men and women ... just in case your Avatar was planning on attending a job interview or something. One thing to note before you dress up for that next online date, change your shoes. Business suits and sneakers don't work.<br /><br /><strong>Male Business Attire</strong><br />

Within a few hours, we had dozens of emails from readers like you who had experienced this particular hardware failure (typically caused, according to unofficial web reports, by a loose scaling chip). The new western-wear is supposedly inspired by this week's <a href="http://www.sxsw.com/">South by Southwest</a> celebration, but we think the design team just wanted to see what a female Avatar looked like in a knee high denim dress. There was a rumor floating around today about <a href="http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/nxe-update-now-included-as-mandatory-update-on-disc/">NXE shipping on Xbox 360 game discs</a> (via <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/33427/NXE-becomes-mandatory-360-upgrade">MCV</a>) and, as you can imagine, we were surprised. So we put in a question to Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who confirmed that Microsoft has begun including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/video-tour-new-xbox-experience-exposed/">NXE</a> with Xbox 360 games.<br /><br />As to whether <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hawx"><em>Tom Clancy's HAWX</em></a> and 2K Sports' <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/demo-rama-mlb-2k9-vs-monsters-vs-aliens/"><em>MLB2K9</em></a> will be the first games to feature the NXE update -- as the rumor suggested -- Major Nelson could not confirm. But, from here on out, expect the update to be included on all retail game discs.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/confirmed-nxe-update-on-xbox-360-game-discs/">Confirmed: NXE update on Xbox 360 game discs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 16:40:00 EST. Spiffy new (and free) formal wear, in fact. Male Avatars now have the option to wear a black formal suit and blue dress-shirt combo. Female Avatars have the option to sport a sexy (can we refer to Avatars as sexy?) red dress. We're also told that the new duds are perfect for this weekend's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine%27s_Day">special holiday</a>. That is, if you express your romantic feelings over Xbox Live.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/11/just-in-time-for-valentines-avatars-receive-formal-attire/">Just in time for Valentine's, Avatars receive formal attire</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Feb 2009 00:05:00 EST. As far as corralling developers' interest, Law is optimistic, making mention that their team is "currently working with multiple partners who have expressed interest in using Avatars."<br /><br />It's either unlockable Avatar apparel, being able to change clothing colors or allowing us to put our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/04/joystiq-hands-on-xbox-live-vision-camera-or-it-begins/">Vision camera creativity</a> to good use. Design and animation studio <a href="http://www.gridplane.com/html/projects/xbox-experience">Gridplane</a> has revealed one of the <em>many</em> mock-ups it developed for Microsoft as a potential user-interface update, which later became the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">NXE</a>. Tasked with creating new ways for users to interact with multimedia, this particular mock-up showcases some of the style found in the NXE. Notably, the use of full retail packaging to list titles and the panes of information, such as the disc in tray image for Halo 3, can be found on current Xbox 360s.<br /><br />Gridplane also mentions that they dreamt up an "immersive 3D environment" for users to explore games and events within the Xbox Live Community. Which, to us, sounds suspiciously like Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/home">Home</a> service.<br /> <br /> While the mock-up is stylistically impressive, it all looks a little <em>too much</em> like we forgot our glasses somewhere. Luckily, the final NXE nabbed some of the best ideas and ditched the whole "ethereal plane" look this version seems to evoke.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/">Gridplane: Xbox 360 UI Mock-up</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/#1324721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/xbox_ui_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/#1324720"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/xbox_ui_video1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/#1324719"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/xbox_ui_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/#1324718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/xbox_ui_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gridplane-xbox-360-ui-mock-up/#1324717"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/xbox_ui_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/29/gridplane-shows-off-what-the-nxe-could-have-been/">Gridplane shows off what the NXE could have been</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 21:15:00 EST. Last call for those Xbox 360 Arcade console owners who are looking to take advantage of Microsoft's NXE <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/nxe-storage-solution-free-512mb-memory-card-or-cheap-20gb-hdd/">storage solution</a> offer. The program -- which was setup to get Arcade console owners storage to install the NXE -- ends this Saturday, January 31st when Microsoft will pull the plug on the website. To receive either your free 512MB memory card or to take advantage of their 20GB HDD deal, simply head over to the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/hardware/memoryupdate/default.htm">official memory request website</a>, enter your console information and review what storage solution offers you receive. There is no time for procrastination, so get to it!<br /><br />[Thanks, Beagles]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/29/reminder-360-memory-upgrade-program-ends-saturday/">Reminder: 360 memory upgrade program ends Saturday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 10:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes of the long defunct <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/dashboardthemes-com-is-no-more/">Dashboard Themes</a> website, comes a new site that has the simple goal of giving XBLM consumers a chance to preview <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/catalog.aspx?d=15&amp;r=-1&amp;g=-1&amp;sb=2&amp;ot=0&amp;mt=4&amp;rl=0&amp;p=1">premium dashboard themes</a>. <a href="http://nxethemes.com/">NXE Themes</a> has screenshots of the entire catalog of premium dash skins, including all free and paid content. It's quite the nice community service NXE Themes is offering, seeing that a premium download can cost upwards of 250 Microsoft points.<br /><br />The only negative we can find with the site is the amount of bandwidth that is required. Dial-up users stay far, far away.<br /></div>

So, it's not quite the "ZOMG Friends List Increase Confirmed" announcement that we hoped for but Xbox director Aaron Greenberg came as close as we've heard to revealing that it's in the works. <br /><br />When we spoke to him at CES today (more on that later) Greenberg told us "I can't commit to when that will happen, but that is something we want to do. It's definitely something we're looking at expanding and, as this social network grows, we've absolutely heard the pleas for that. It's on the list."<br /><br />Greenberg explained that original Xbox games were coded to be limited to 100 friends, and that limit was brought into the current generation. But now that Live is built in to the system, they've got a little more flexibility. We, and the thousands of potential friends we turn away daily, can't wait to hear more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/09/ces-2009-microsoft-wants-to-increase-the-100-friend-live-limit/">CES 2009: Microsoft wants to increase the 100-friend Xbox Live limit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Jan 2009 15:10:00 EST. <div align="left">More Xbox 360 news coming from CES, Microsoft has just announced that the long <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/21/ms-primetime-will-not-make-nxe-launch/">delayed</a> New Xbox Experience feature <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/primetime">Primetime</a> will be releasing to the masses sometime this Spring. Microsoft's Robbie Bach demoed Primetime on stage, showing off Primetime's gameshow <em>1 vs. 100</em> all while showing what the experience will look and feel like. Despite taking part in a cost-saving virtual conferencing <a href="http://www.gaapweb.com/news/1327-Ernst-Young-to-use-PS3-for-virtual-meetings.html">initiative</a>, Microsoft has told <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=205123">CVG</a> that it will not be using <em>PlayStation Home</em> to facilitate cheaper, virtual meetings. The company insisted that it had access to everything -- <span class="text_article_body">including Live Meeting and Xbox Live's party system -- </span>needed to<span class="text_article_body"> "host a virtual meeting in-house" ... and not in <em>Home</em>. <br /><br />It's probably best not to indirectly endorse your competitor's efforts, but just think of how excruciatingly boring meetings will be without Sony's eccentric virtual haven:<br /><br /><em>"And that's why, by altering our predicted life-to-date replacement ratio matrix, our profits will positively sway our exponential yield curve. Joan, do you understand?"<br /><br />"Mark, I've got some curves for you right here. They're swaying."<br /><br />"And so ... spontaneously at that. Why do I have the sudden urge to start gyrating in rhythm to non-existent music?"<br /><br />"Come on, do the robot with me!"<br /><br />"Oh yeah, doin' the robot! Damn, Joan, how big are your measurements, 'cos they </em><em>do not compute."<br /><br />"Ugh ... why do men become cretins in Home? Also, it's not Joan. It's Joe."<br /><br />"As in Joe-Ann or OH CRAP YOU'VE SUDDENLY BECOME A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/how-to-perform-quincying-in-playstation-home/">HIDEOUS AND UNDESIRABLE MAN</a>!"</em><br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/microsoft-wont-use-playstation-home-will-keep-meetings-boring/">Microsoft won't use PlayStation Home, will keep meetings boring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 14:22:00 EST. Keen-eyed observers (or at least <em>one</em> keen-eyed observer, anyway) over at 360Sync have noticed that movies from Sony's Columbia Pictures are <a href="http://www.360sync.com/2009/01/06/columbia-movies-back-on-instant-watch">once again available</a> for Netflix streaming on Xbox 360. After the titles were first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/sony-blocks-entire-netflix-movie-library-from-streaming-to-the-x/">yanked from the service</a> in November, we later reported that <em>most</em> of the Columbia movies <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/26/sonys-netflix-library-mostly-available-on-nxe/">had returned</a>, but it seems that now all of them are available once again. Just to be sure, we decided to see if our beloved <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y59sdDex2Yg"><em>Paprika</em></a> had returned. Lo and behold, it has! Now go and add some movies to your queue! Do it because it's more fun than working.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/columbia-movies-back-on-netflix-instant-view/">Columbia movies back on Netflix instant view</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 12:45:00 EST. Two years ago when I brought home my Wii and was sculpting a likeness of myself in Mii form, I was doing just that sort of reflecting. <br /><br />Recently, Sony opened up their new Playstation Home service to public beta and Microsoft unrolled the New Xbox Experience. With these additions, it has become possible to create an effigy of ourselves across each platform, so I'd like to give you my impressions of my own three representations. I can tell you right now, a couple of these ain't pretty.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/31/revolutionary-it-aint-mii/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Revolutionary: It Ain't Mii</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/31/revolutionary-it-aint-mii/">Revolutionary: It Ain't Mii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Dec 2008 18:00:00 EST.
