It may have taken six map unlocks before DICE got to it, but the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 developer announced this morning that VIP Map Pack 7 will include four new(ish) multiplayer maps: Heavy Metal, Cold War, Oasis, and Harvest Day. If the latter two maps sound familiar, it's because they're updated versions of maps that appeared in the original Bad Company -- handpicked with the community in mind. "When we ask for your favorite maps from Battlefield: Bad Company, Oasis and Harvest Day always come out on top," the DLC's announcement reads. As with previous map packs, the DLC will be free for VIP members only (VIP access is free with new copies of BC2, $15 otherwise).

Outside of a handful of (relatively minor) tweaks noted on the Battlefield blog, the biggest change to the maps will be the addition of Bad Company 2's "Destruction 2.0" system and enhanced graphics. Check out the first shots of the revamped maps in the gallery below and look for a more in-depth exploration of Heavy Metal this Wednesday. Hopefully Wednesday will bring news of a release date as well.

Gallery: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (VIP Map Pack 7)

Bad Company 2 getting updated BC1 maps (and more) in VIP Map Pack 7 originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 09:34:00 EST. Why, hello! Next week's Rock Band Weekly brings a heaping serving of Talking Heads. No, no, not television talk show guests and nightly news anchors ... the band, you know? You ... you don't know? This is awkward. Best educate yourself before we have to silently crack some skulls. The Wii will get another massive injection of tracks from the back catalog, including a whole slew of Judas Priest. Hold up, you don't know who Judas Priest is? Seriously, why are you even reading this? Go check out all the track coming to the various forms of Rock Band after the break.

We knew all about Jane's Addiction hitting Rock Band 2 on the Wii this week, but we had no idea the content would show up with so many friends! Joining Jane are Brit rockers Oasis, the very famous Sting, and Dave Mustaine with his crew of metal rockers, Megadeth. If you're looking for new Rock Band tracks, then this is your week!
Continue reading Rock Band Wiikly: Megadeth, Jane's Addiction, Oasis, Sting

Rock Band Wiikly: Megadeth, Jane's Addiction, Oasis, Sting originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 27 Apr 2009 17:15:00 EST. It appears Rock Band Wiikly is getting comfortable with its one week delay of Rock Band Weekly DLC, with this week seeing a rather eclectic collection of additions to the Wii's music store.

Individual songs (200 Wii points apiece):

"Don't Stop Believing" - Journey

"Heartbreaker" - Pat Benatar

"Geraldine" - Glasvegas

"C'Mon C'Mon" - The Von Bondies

"I Can't Keep My Eyes Off of You" - Spongebob Squarepants

"The Best Day Ever" - Spongebob Squarepants

"DOA" - Foo Fighters

"This is a Call" - Foo Fighters

"Times Like These" - Foo Fighters

Another week, another bundle of Rock Band DLC oldies for the Wii, which according to the press release should be available now.

Individual Tracks (200 Wii points apiece)

"Attack" - 30 Seconds to Mars

"Gimme Three Steps" - Lynrd Skynrd

"Live Forever" - Oasis

"Just What I needed" - The Cars

"Siva" - Smashing Pumpkins

"Tell Me Baby" - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Fun fact: the Rock Band series has about 559 songs. At this point, Wii owners have access to 212 of them, leaving 347 songs to go. At 6 songs per week -- not counting any future DLC -- we should see Wii owners catch up to everyone else some time before mid-2010.
Rock Band Wiikly: Six more tracks, just what we needed originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 20:30:00 EST.
Activision has revealed the January line-up of downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour will be fronted by Mancunian professional scowlers Oasis. After announcing their launch week plans for Guitar Hero World Tour DLC, Activision just revealed that Oasis' Dig Out Your Soul album DLC will be offered in its entirity or as individual tracks (eleven total) in 2009.

Though, you won't have to wait until 2009 to get your World Tour Oasis fix, because on Thursday, November 6th an Oasis Track Pack will be available for purchase off the XBLM. This three song pack will include tracks from the Dig Out Your Soul album including "Bag it Up", "Waiting for the Rapture" and "The Shock of the Lightning." Oasis may not have been tearing up the charts in recent years, but they've still got a massive legion of fans. Well, we guess they do ... maybe in the U.K. or something. We thought for a second we knew a guy that was still really into them, but it might have been Blur. We can never remember.

That friend of ours may (or may not) have reason to celebrate next year when Oasis' new album "Dig Out Your Soul" will arrive on Guitar Hero World Tour as DLC with singles like "Bag it Up," "Waiting for the Rapture" and "The Shock of the Lightning."

But the more we think about it we're pretty sure it was Blur. ... Yeah, yeah it was Blur.
Next Oasis album, Dig Out Your Soul, in Guitar Hero World Tour next year originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 17 Oct 2008 12:58:00 EST. Oasis makes its Rock Band debut with an all new "Oasis Track Pack" featuring three songs from those shaggy haired Brits including "Don't Look Back in Anger", "Live Forever" and "Wonderwall". And, as always, if you suffer from Oasis commitment issues, you can purchase each track separately for the standard 160 Microsoft point price tag. Barring any major change out of spite that the rest of January's Rock Band downloadable songs were revealed last week, we're pretty confident that the Oasis Pack will hit the consoles on their respective days. As we still get asked this question, let's review DLC availability days: Rock Band DLC is Tuesday for Xbox 360 and Thursday for PS3. Don't look back in anger at us, those are the days chosen by the overlords. In honor of this week's Rock Band DLC please implement some over-the-top sibling rivalry before downloading and playing any of the songs.

Oasis Pack (440 MS points/ $5.50)
Barring any unforeseen hiccups, we're assuming that the songs will be available on PSN as well. We'll be sure to remind you of the DLC with our Rock Band Weekly posts over the next couple Mondays.

[Update: Looks like someone at Microsoft jumped the gun on the announcement a little bit and they've pulled everything that hadn't been announced already (they neglected to update their intro paragraph though). Never fear, former Joystiqer Jared Rea linked us to a screenshot on his blog to cast away any lingering doubts as to the one-time existence of the information. Behold!]
Xbox.com lists Rock Band DLC through January: Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins and more originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 16 Jan 2008 18:00:00 EST. PlayFirst, makers of many well-known casual titles, and Hudson entertainment are teaming up to bring those games to consoles for "digital download" in 2008. Although everyone received the awkwardly worded press release this morning, GamingTalkHQ bothered to put two and two together -- so kudos to them. Basically it means that games like Diner Dash, Oasis, Chocolatier, Mystery of Shark Island will all eventually be made available on either Xbox Marketplace or PSN, the press release kinda skips over that part.

If we had to guess, we'd probably say XBLA, only because Hudson already has a relationship with Microsoft and just made available the enjoyable Bomberman Live. Then again, these are casual games and are designed for a solitary experience, putting it on any of the console services shouldn't be too hard. Although, don't ever think to mock these casual games, Diner Dash has made so much money we shudder at the mere utterance of that title. There's nothing stopping these games from being just as popular on XBLA or PSN at the right price.

[Via X3F]
Diner Dash, Oasis and other casual titles coming to console networks originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 20:47:00 EST. The first game planned in the deal is the very popular Diner Dash. Other games featured in the deal include Sandscript, Zenerchi, Mystery of Shark Island, Oasis, and Chocolatier. We can attest to the addictive nature of PlayFirst's games, as we've just wasted the last hour playing Oasis while "researching" this post. While Xbox Live Arcade is not specifically mentioned, it's a safe bet that we'll see these titles there next year. After all, we imagine that Bomberman Live is already giving Hudson a nice return.
Oasis, Diner Dash coming to XBLA? originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 16:30:00 EST.
