Fans of downloadable convenience might like to know that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-iv">Super Street Fighter 4</a></em> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-shift">Need for Speed Shift</a></em> are now available via Xbox Live Games on Demand. <em>SSF4</em> is available for <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/SUPER-STREETFIGHTER-IV/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802434307fc?DownloadType=Game#LiveZone">$40</a>, while <em>Shift</em> is a slightly more palatable <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Need-for-Speed-SHIFT/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802454108b4?cid=SLink&amp;DownloadType=Game#LiveZone">$30</a>. No, it's not a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/16/intellisponse-survey-rumor-roundup/">news related OMG Megaton</a>. It's more like a "holy effing crap, look at all these games" kind of megaton. There are ten, <em>ten</em> games hitting the Xbox 360 this week. What's more, a lot of them look decent and, dare we say it, some of them even look <em>good</em>. Just <em>look </em>at all of 'em.<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bad-company">Battlefield: Bad Company</a></li>
    <li>Top Spin 3</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supreme-commander">Supreme Commander</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kanes-wrath">Command &amp; Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/alone-in-the-dark">Alone in the Dark</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hellboy">Hellboy: Science of Evil</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hail-to-the-chimp">Hail to the Chimp</a></li>
    <li>Wall-E</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/operation-darkness">Operation Darkness</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war">Gears of War Refresh</a> (2-Disc Edition)</li>
</ul>
It's enough to give someone googly eyes. <em>Alone in the Dark </em>has our interest piqued (and has thus far fared decently in Europe). Here's hoping it -- and everything else here -- is up to snuff.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/new-games-this-week-battlefield-bad-company-edition/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/shipping-this-week-omg-megaton-edition/">Shipping this week: OMG Megaton edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jun 2008 15:00:00 EST. It's a squad based tactical game where you're fighting the "hidden battles of WWII," but the reason they were hidden is apparently because they were waged against skeletons. And and some point, one of those skeletons gets punched by a wolf man in a trench coat. See? Crazy.<br /><br />We tell you all this, not as a lead-in to dispel your presumptions about the game's insanity, but to see if you'd play the <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/04/23/demo-operation-darkness.aspx">new demo on Xbox Live</a> for us and let us know how it is. That's right, no sugar coating this final boss. Having announced two titles for the Xbox 360 in <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/49982">late 2007</a>, Atlus has revealed new information on one of the two titles with an updated website and a slew of fresh screens. Visiting the newly updated <a href="http://www.atlus.com/operationdarkness/">official site</a> for <em>Operation Darkness</em> reveals updated game information and that a demo is scheduled for May 5 on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Marketplace</a>, months after the release of a Japanese demo that went live in December 2007.<br /><br />With third party support from a team like Atlus maybe Microsoft can claim to be one <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/didja-know-that-the-best-rpgs-are-on-the-360/">helluva</a> RPG-player's console after all. <em>Operation Darkness,</em> which has recently been rated M by the ESRB, is an RPG / small-squad tactics hybrid from developer SUCCESS that supports up to 4 players cooperatively over <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/live/">Xbox Live</a> and is set to hit retail later this year.<br /><br />

Atlus USA, the company behind upcoming surgery sim <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/trauma-center-new-blood-box-art-keeps-things-simple/"><em>Trauma Center: New Blood</em></a>, has become an official 3rd party publisher for the Xbox 360. Fans who have come to expect quirky role-playing games and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/15/joystiq-interviews-odin-spheres-bill-alexander/">nuanced localizations</a> from the team should be pleased to see Atlus diving straight into a niche we never expected to associate with the American Xbox 360 -- Japanese strategy RPGs. <br /><br />Two titles are already lined up for release in 2008, with the first tackling one of history's (and gaming's) most sinister foes, <em>Hitler. </em>He's also a vampire, it says here. Battling the Third Reich with an army of bizarre creatures in <a href="http://www.atlus.com/operationdarkness/"><em>Operation Darkness</em></a> would probably strike us as odd, had we not already played an Atlus game featuring a robotic Rasputin <em>from the future</em>. Par for the course, really. As for the fantasy-themed <a href="http://www.atlus.com/spectralforce3/"><em>Spectral Force 3</em></a>, it places you in control of a group of mercenaries caught between the opposing sides of the "Great Neverland War," which we're told was considerably more exciting than the Pretty Decent Neverland War explored in the previous two games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/atlus-usa-publishing-spectral-force-3-operation-darkness-for-xb/">Atlus USA publishing Spectral Force 3, Operation Darkness for Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 20:55:00 EST. The Japanese have gone and done it now with <em>Operation Darkness</em>; they've created a console strategy RPG that isn't a ball of fantasy cuteness. Even more disturbing, it's for the Xbox 360. Siliconera has been <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/infosphere/operation-darkness/">following</a> this series, which is slated for <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2007/07/30/in-october-operation-darkness-opens-the-door-for-srpgs/">release</a> in Japan on Oct. 11, saying it's a WWII meets werewolves SRPG with Xbox Live support for four players. The game will receive the CERO D rating in Japan, the equivalent to the M rating from the ESRB.<br /><br />Considering the RPG genre is minimal on the Xbox 360, with <em>Enchanted Arms, Oblivion</em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/28/blue-dragon-gets-dated-august-28th-24th-in-europe/">Blue Dragon</a></em> being the high-profile ones, maybe the lack of competition and higher Xbox install base will help <em>Operation Darkness</em> make its way over the Pacific. Now, please allow between two years and never for the translation and random elements to be completed for export. Thank you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/operation-darkness-an-srpg-with-an-m-rating-in-japan/">Operation Darkness, an SRPG with an M rating in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jul 2007 11:59:00 EST.
