Australia isn't just dangerous because of its abundance of deadly, poisonous wildlife, it's also not a great place to live if you're an adult gamer. See, the country's maximum rating for video games has long been MA 15+, meaning that a mature game must either be censored down to what the country deems is suitable for a 15 year old individual or outright banned from release in the country. This forces many gamers to navigate the seedy streets and back alleys of the importing scene. Nasty stuff, believe us.<br />
<br />
But, there's hope. A new rating of R18+ has been a hot topic as of late. Recently, the government has been receptive to a change in the legislature, despite South Australian attorney general <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/30/australian-attorney-general-refuses-to-support-18-game-rating/">Michael Atkinson's vehement disapproval</a>. The public is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/australia-releases-r18-discussion-paper-requests-public-feedba/">able to weigh in</a> on the proposed change right now, but retailer EB Games has also decided to join the fight for more mature titles. And like anyone else trying to get something done on the internet, it's started a petition.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.growupaustralia.com/show-your-support/r18-games-submission/">"Grow Up Australia &amp; EB Games</a>" petition pretty much mirrors the same form found on the Aussie government's site <a href="http://www.ag.gov.au/gamesclassification">here</a>, so if you're a bloke or sheila who has already voiced your opinions on the government site, there's no need to fill out this new EB Games questionnaire. If not, get on it. The deadline is February 28.<br />

Ubisoft's tentatively titled <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/ubisoft-announces-ghost-recon-4/"><em>Ghost Recon 4</em></a> may just be "<em>Ghost Recon: Predator</em>" -- that is, if this <a href="http://www.oflc.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/d853f429dd038ae1ca25759b0003557c/be248d6667a0d752ca2576540057ff0a!OpenDocument">OFLC classification</a> is any indication. The classification itself is pretty barren, save for the title of the game, the fact that it's multiplatform and it's rated MA 15+. Still, given the title, it's a pretty safe bet that this will be a <em>Ghost Recon</em> game more in line with the roots of the series and not another <em>Advanced Warfighter</em> -- mostly because it doesn't have "<em>Advanced Warfighter</em>" in the title. <br />
<br />
Hopefully, Ubisoft will confirm sooner rather than later. We definitely encourage the company to do so, especially if it still hopes to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/assassins-creed-2-coming-march-2010/">get the game on shelves</a> by March 2010. <br />

Aussie reader, if you've been salivating over the prospect of owning a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/fcc-document-indicates-sony-planning-250gb-ps3-slim/">250GB PS3 Slim</a>, know your day is coming. SCE Australia has <a href="http://au.playstation.com/games-media/news/articles/detail/item235526/250GB-PS3-announced/">confirmed</a> the console is headed down under and will be bundled with one of the following titles:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2: Among Thieves</em></a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ratchet-and-clank-a-crack-in-time"><em>Ratchet &amp; Clank: A Crack in Time</em></a></li>
    <li><em>Singstar Motown</em></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eyepet"><em>EyePet</em></a></li>
</ul>
The bundles will go on sale starting October 15 and retail for $599.95RRP, coinciding with the release date of <em>Uncharted 2</em>. Perfect timing! You're going to need every last one of those <em>gigglebytes</em> to store the countless <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/naughty-dog-shows-off-uncharted-2s-machinima-tools/">Machinima fan fictions</a> you've already concocted in your head.<br /><br />[Thanks, Adrian]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/australia-getting-several-250gb-ps3-bundles/">Australia to receive several 250GB PS3 bundles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 14:29:00 EST. Okay, so DS hasn't<em> really</em> bested Paul Hogan's popularity -- as the man is an Australian legend -- but it <em>is</em> the fastest-selling piece of gaming hardware <em>ever</em> down under. <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/ds-breaks-australian-sales-record">Edge</a> reports the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/ten-reasons-to-stick-with-your-phat/">DS</a>, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2007/07/19/ten-reasons-to-upgrade-to-a-lite/">DS Lite</a> and <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-dsi">DSi</a> have pulled together to sell two million units in a span of 221 weeks, the fastest any platform has managed to reach that coveted two-million milestone. Nintendo of Australia boasts that the DS has been the number one console in Australia for <em>three years</em>. That's just ... wow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/ds-more-popular-than-paul-hogan-in-australia/">DS more popular than Paul Hogan in Australia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 15:30:00 EST. Microsoft is sending a special <em>Gears of War </em>Xbox 360 bundle (depicted above) to our friends in Australia. Included in the bundle are copies of the original <em>Gears of War</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a>. Sadly, the console itself isn't as special as the box it comes in, for it's of the plain white <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Xbox360gopro.jpg">Pro</a> variety.<br /><br />The new bundle will hit Aussie store shelves on June 4 and retail for $449 AU.<br /><br />[Thanks, Josh]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/25/gears-of-war-xbox-360-bundle-heads-down-under/">Gears of War Xbox 360 bundle heads down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 May 2009 12:00:00 EST. We all know how much swearing there is in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead-overkill/"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a>. There's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/house-of-the-dead-overkill-has-most-swearing-ever/">a world record-setting amount</a>. For some reason, though, the game has no warning about said language in its Australian classification of "<a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sTitle=house+of+the+dead&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=3&amp;sDateToY=2009&amp;record=231326">MA15+ Strong Horror Violence</a>" -- and some people are <a href="http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,28348,25205417-5014239,00.html">understandably upset</a>. Do the people responsible for classifying games down under even play them?<br /><br />Pro Family Perspective director, Angela Conway, is <a href="http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/03/19/australian-watchdog-group-slams-house-dead-overkill">leading the charge against Sega's game</a>, calling for research into the impact of violent video games on players. She says players will be affected by the amount of "sexually aggressive violence and aggressively violent language" found in the game. Wait, what? We think she got her adjectives mixed up. Shouldn't it be sexually aggressive language and aggressively violent violence? That doesn't sound right either ...<br /><br /><a href="http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,28348,25205417-5014239,00.html">Source</a> - <em>House of the Dead: Overkill </em>lacks language warning<br /><a href="http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/03/19/australian-watchdog-group-slams-house-dead-overkill">Source</a> - Australian watchdog group protests <em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em> rating<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/house-of-the-dead-overkill-stirs-up-trouble-down-under/">House of the Dead: Overkill stirs up trouble down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 17:10:00 EST. In supporting her troops abroad, the Governor-General arrived to shake hands, offer well wishes, and get a game or two of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=bowling">Wii Sports: Bowling</a> </em>in with the now less-bored troops. <br /><br />Okay, we lied about that last part, but sue us if we like to daydream about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/09/obama-family-appoints-wii-to-tv-cabinet/">politicians playing Wii</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5135968/governor+general-visits-afghanistan-to-drop-off-a-wii">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/aussie-soldiers-abroad-receive-surprise-visitor-free-wii/">Aussie soldiers abroad receive surprise visitor, free Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 19:18:00 EST. A rating for Yuji Naka's latest project, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/19/lets-tap-in-different-ways/"><em>Let's Tap</em></a>, has popped up on the OLFC and would appear to indicate the title is destined for an Aussie release. Seeing as how we haven't heard anything on a North American or European release, this is likely going to be good news to folks outside of Australia. If Sega plans to localize the game down under, there's a very good chance that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/wii-warm-up-the-tapping-game/">those of us</a> who are looking forward to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lets-tap/">tapping away with the quirky title</a> will get a chance to. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/10/lets-tap-down-under/">Let's Tap down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 13:30:00 EST. It's no secret that we love <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/wii-fanboy-review-world-of-goo/"><em>World of Goo</em></a>. The game is great and if you don't like it, <em><strike>we don't like you</strike> </em>then we appreciate you giving the game the old college try. Now, 2D Boy's most excellent title has been rated by the OFLC, meaning a down under release is closing in. With the news that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/world-of-goo-d-news-for-europe/">Europe would be getting the game</a>, we're now happy to see just about every territory getting in the action. <br /><br />Any of our Aussie readers looking forward to this one? Move over, Paul Hogan. Aussies have a new hero: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/de-blob"><em>de Blob</em></a>.<br /><br />Even though the game wasn't a commercial success, the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/25/metareview-de-blob/">won the hearts of gamers and critics alike</a>. In fact, it might as well be Australia's favorite game, as the title has dominated the Australian development awards. Every year, the GDAA (Game Developers Association of Australia) bestows honors on outstanding games and this year, a majority of those awards were dropped on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thq">THQ</a>'s title. Among those nods were several big ones, including best console title, best gameplay, best audio, best graphics and the GDAA's game of the year award.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/oz-developers-love-de-blob/">Oz developers love de Blob</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 18:23:00 EST. A classification for Australia has popped up, showing that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hudson">Hudson</a> is working on a new game for WiiWare. The new game, called <em>Snowboard Riot</em>, will have the player fighting dragons, saving damsels in distress and will feature <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bomberman">Bomberman</a> in a medieval setting. We kid, it's a snowboard game!<br /><br />Sadly, all we have to go on right now is a name, other than it looks like the game will also be hitting Xbox Live and PSN. Stay tuned to Wii Fanboy for more info on the game as it's made available.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/10/new_hudsonsoft_wiiware_title_s.php">GamerBytes</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/aussie-classification-reveals-new-hudson-wiiware-title/">Aussie classification reveals new Hudson WiiWare title</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 18:18:00 EST. Well, Australian readers, if you've been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/rumor-australian-retailers-pass-on-rock-band/">waiting on <em>something</em></a> pertaining to the first <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band">Rock Band</a> </em>game, then today brings good news. You all are finally getting <em>Rock Band</em> ... on November 7th (rumors originally stated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/rumor-australia-getting-fleeced-on-rock-band/">the game would release in October</a>). Ridiculous, right? Hey, we're right there with you, pal. <br /><br />The game will release separately from the peripherals, just as it did in the UK. Unlike the UK, however, Aussies won't have to pay as much. The whole bundle, all said and done, will only set you back $250 AUD ($208). That's a lot of money for a year-old game, if we may say so. Especially one that already has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/rock-band-2-getting-full-albums-from-several-bands/">its sequel</a> sitting on store shelves.<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/22/rock-band-1-finally-coming-to-australia-nov-7/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/22/rock-band-finally-releasing-to-oz-on-nov-7/">Rock Band finally releasing to Oz on Nov. 7</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 16:21:00 EST. Reader Jessica is a wonderful and kind soul. She took our advice and attended <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/nintendo-provides-game-playing-training-down-under/">the DS how-to training</a> that recently took place in Melbourne, Australia. She was even so kind as to hook us up with some pictures from the event. And, there's a surprise at the end of the gallery, which is a gift she received while attending the event. She says that while the event was mostly dominated by children, she did manage to see a couple older people enjoying themselves.<br /><br />Hit up the gallery below for some pictures from the event.<br /><br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.couchwarriors.org/">Jessica</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/images-from-nintendos-ds-training-down-under/">Images from Nintendo's DS training down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 May 2008 12:30:00 EST. Nintendo is an odd company. While we won't argue the merits of doing something like this, we will argue that Nintendo could've used some new games. Confused? So are we, so let's break it down.<br /><br />Basically, Nintendo is conducting an hour-long "beginner's class" with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=animal+crossing"><em>Animal Crossing: Wild World</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendogs">Nintendogs</a>,</em> in the hopes that they can show people how great their really old games are. In all seriousness, we imagine the classes will mostly revolve around introducing the device to skeptical folks, as well as the ease of using the stylus on the touch-screen. It all takes place at ACMI, Screen Pit Room, Federation Square, Flinders Street Melbourne, so if you're anywhere near there this Thursday between 6:00pm - 7:00pm, show up and take some pictures. <br /><br />Then send those pictures <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tips">to us</a>!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/nintendo-provides-game-playing-training-down-under/">Nintendo provides game-playing training down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 16:00:00 EST. It looks like we have some good news for Australians who need some help in the kitchen. <em>Shaberu! Cooking Navi</em>, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/05/cooking-navi-goes-high-end/">DS guide to preparing tasty food</a>, is heading down under, according to a recent filing with the Australian Classification Board. <br /><br />The game will be called <em>Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat?, </em>and will hopefully be available in the country soon. But, the way <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/06/noe-confirms-cooking-navi-localization/">Europe is still waiting</a>, we're not sure you should be holding your breath down there.<em><br /></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/30/oz-needs-better-cooks-so-nintendo-sends-cooking-navi-to-the-rescue/">Oz needs better cooks, so Nintendo sends Cooking Navi to the rescue</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Apr 2008 17:00:00 EST. It is one that shall go down in history for you if you're the kind of bloke or sheila who likes to own odd and wonderful things, like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/15/game-and-watch-collection-previewed/"><em>Game &amp; Watch</em></a> collection or that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/06/exclamation-warriors-sounds-awesome/"><em>Exclamation Warriors</em></a> game. Club Nintendo is officially launching in Australia next Thursday, alongside the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mario-kart-wii"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a>.<br /><br />This means that you fine readers in Australia and New Zealand will be able to redeem points from the games you buy and use them towards goodies in the Club Nintendo catalog. The idea of being able to alone gets us all hot and bothered, so we can imagine how excited you all must feel right now. No longer will you need to box kangaroos and wrestle deadly gators for kicks.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/?v=news&amp;p=25575">Aussie-Nintendo</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/club-nintendo-heads-down-under/">Club Nintendo heads down under</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Apr 2008 12:00:00 EST. Heck, we like to read or hear about them any chance we get. And this story is no different, as one little girl in Australia suffering from arthrogryposis, a degenerative muscle disease, recently got a wonderful gift from Nintendo.<br /><br />After trying a family friend's console and having a great time, that same wonderful friend wrote to Nintendo directly and got little Taylor a console sent to her, free of charge. As you might imagine, she was absolutely thrilled to receive something that can keep her active without pushing her so hard, but also something that brings a smile to her face and is quite fun. Merry Christmas, little Taylor!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.thetanooki.com/2007/12/24/nintendo-donates-wii-to-girl-with-muscle-disease/">The Tanooki</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/25/nintendo-of-australia-makes-one-little-girls-christmas-extra-special/">Nintendo of Australia makes one little girl's Christmas extra-special</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Dec 2007 15:30:00 EST. Gamers down under are getting a treat come February 21st when Capcom's stellar title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/05/friday-video-zack-wiki-and-hats/"><em>Zack &amp; Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure</em></a> hits retail shelves. Australia, we have one thing to ask you: will you please buy this game? Seriously, you need it.<br />
<br />
When <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/wii-fanboy-review-zack-and-wiki/">we reviewed the game</a>, we found it to be one of the absolute best games on the system. It's such an amazing game on all levels that we're incredibly surprised that nobody else thought so, as the game's sales were incredibly poor. We wondered if <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/do-complex-games-face-an-uncertain-future-on-the-wii/">complex games</a> such as this would even have a future on the Wii. Actually, we still do.<br />
<br />
So, Australia, do your part. Make sure you buy this amazing game.<br />

Ubisoft loves Australia, it seems, as they've worked out a deal with RPG powerhouse Square Enix to bring some of their games to the region. Ubisoft will be bringing two titles to the country in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/ds-fanboy-review-dragon-quest-monsters-joker/">Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/14/ffcc-ring-of-fates-media-constipated-face/"><em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates</em></a>. Gamers down under can look forward to getting these titles in early 2008.<br /><br />Any Aussies here glad they won't have to import these games?<br /><br /><font color="red">Update</font>: According to <a href="http://jeux-france.com/news22905_ffcc-ring-of-fates-se-precise.html">JeuxFrance</a>, Ubisoft is going to be bringing the games to not only Australia, but also to Europe. A $1 million AUD (approx. US $880,000) heist of PlayStation 2 consoles in Australia was foiled by the power of GPS. According to the <a href="http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007/07/21/1184560110985.html?from=top5">Sydney Morning Herald</a>, a truck fitted with a GPS tracking device and containing 4,704 PS2s was stolen. Police used the tracking device (and magic -- no, not really) to locate the stolen truck and consoles. <br /><br />Four men have been charged for the theft. Let that be a lesson to you would-be robbers and delinquents: leave it to <a href="http://wireless.engadget.com/2007/06/22/thieves-rob-best-buy-blind/">the pros</a>.<br /><br />[<a href="http://gpsinformation.us/joe/gpscompare/gpscarnavscreencompare.html">Image source</a>; via <a href="http://gaming.engadget.com/2007/07/23/gps-foils-playstation-thieves/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/playstation-thieves-caught-using-gps/">PlayStation thieves located through GPS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jul 2007 14:57:00 EST. The most pertinent news is that Oz will get its chance to pick up the add-on peripheral on March 29 for $249 AUD, which translates to approximately the $200 price tag for the US edition.<br /><br />The initial shipments of the drive will come with a Universal Remote Control (we presume he means the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/11/19/side-by-side-of-xbox-360-remotes/">official Microsoft one</a>) and a copy of <em>King Kong</em> on HD DVD. We're not going to pretend we can gauge the next-gen format market in Australia right now, so anyone hailing from the Land Down Under is more than welcome to contribute observations.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/02/aussies-get-360-hd-dvd-march-29-for-249-aud/">Aussies get 360 HD DVD March 29 for $249 AUD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Feb 2007 18:20:00 EST.
