He'll work out of the Epic headquarters in Cary, North Carolina, not far from where his career started at Sinister Games.<br /><br />After Sinister was bought by Ubisoft in 2000, Meegan went on to Ubisoft Montreal as Executive VP of production, then bouncing around behind the scenes until he helped establish <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/epic-games-china">Epic Games China</a> in 2006. He held that job for four years, before bouncing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/09/lucasarts-finds-epic-new-president/">in</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/02/lucasarts-president-paul-meegan-leaves-the-company/">out</a> of LucasArts.<br /><br />"Epic's business has evolved incredibly over the past two decades, and throughout that time, our hiring philosophy has remained constant: 'hire the best and the brightest,'" said Epic president Mike Capps.<br /><br />Epic Games has been making <em>a ton</em> of high-profile game development moves over the past year. Most recently it found a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/18/epic-hires-former-wb-games-seattle-manager-to-lead-seattle-studi/">lead for its Seattle Studio</a>, fully bought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/13/epic-games-now-wholly-owns-gears-of-war-judgment-dev-people-can/">People Can Fly</a>, set up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/09/epic-baltimore-now-impossible-studios-working-on-infinity-blade/">Impossible Games</a> out of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/07/epic-baltimore-big-huge-games-38-studios-mark-rein/">ashes of Big Huge Games</a>, and then there's that whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/20/epics-mike-capps-on-opening-the-door-to-tencent-and-its-unpara/">relationship with China's Tencent</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/15/paul-meegans-epic-return-as-vp-of-product-development/">Paul Meegan's 'Epic' return as VP of product development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2012 14:00:00 EST. COO Mich Chau says that the company wishes Meegan "the best in his future endeavors," and "will be re-evaluating LucasArts' leadership needs" in the future. This is the second big exit from LucasArts this summer: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/29/far-cry-2-creative-lead-clint-hocking-exits-lucasarts-to-venture/">Creative Lead Clint Hocking</a> also left the studio just recently. Meegan replaced Darrell Rodriguez, who, like Meegan, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/lucasarts-president-darrel-rodriguez-resigns/">left the company</a> after two years as president.<br /><br />Meegan's LinkedIn page now lists him as a "CEO/President, Entrepreneur," and a "Change Agent," apparently looking for a new company. Considering Meegan helped found Epic Games China and has overseen studios at Ubisoft and Jaleco in the past, we're sure he'll land on his feet.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/02/lucasarts-president-paul-meegan-leaves-the-company/">LucasArts President Paul Meegan leaves the company</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Aug 2012 23:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LucasArts/">LucasArts</a> has found a new president in Epic Games China CEO Paul Meegan. <a href="http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/109/1095773p1.html">IGN</a> reports that Meegan will take over the studio in mid-June -- wait, that's nowish. <em>Ouch</em>. Taking over a major publisher during E3 sounds like a special brand of executive hell, but we're sure he's well compensated.<br />
<br />
Although there's been an interim suit in the Lucasarts president position, Meegan is officially taking over for Darrell Rodriguez, who abruptly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/lucasarts-president-darrel-rodriguez-resigns/">resigned in May</a> after holding the job for two years.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/09/lucasarts-finds-epic-new-president/">LucasArts finds 'Epic' new president</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 11:40:00 EST.
