Turn-based strategy games have always been up there with creased jeans and Styrofoam as among my biggest turn-offs. There's something about the static, menu-based gameplay that runs contrary to what I usually look for in a game.<br />
<br />
So when my girlfriend wants to check out <em>Skulls of the Shogun</em> at PAX, I reluctantly decide to indulge her. It's good to try new things. Little did I know I was about to discover a highlight of the show.<br />

A man with a lightly-accented voice taps my arm as I wander the PAX exhibition hall.<br />
<br />
"Excuse me, but what media outlet do you represent?"<br />
<br />
"Joystiq," I tell him, and he lights up, says he's been looking for me and insists he has a game he needs to show me with a title I've never heard of. He starts pressing through the throng of people and I follow as best I can, stifling the fear that he's taking me to some remote corner of the convention to rob and murder me.<br />
<br />
My preview of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/path-of-exile"><em>Path of Exile</em></a> was not, in case you've never covered a convention, how these things normally happen.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-dishwasher-dead-samurai"><em>The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai</em></a> was a smash hit on Xbox Live Arcade and rightfully so. But now there's a sequel coming next year and, with it, higher hopes. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-announced-for-xbla-watch-the-trai/"><em>The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile</em></a> stars a new protagonist, adds a bevvy of new challenges and, perhaps most importantly, runs on a brand-new engine.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/">The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/#2738536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/dishvs-logo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/#2736448"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/dishvs-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/#2736449"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/dishvs-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/#2736450"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/dishvs-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-xbla/#2736451"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/dishvs-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/10/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-preview-hobbyist-graduated/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile preview: hobbyist graduated</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/10/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-preview-hobbyist-graduated/">The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile preview: hobbyist graduated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Sep 2010 09:00:00 EST. You know those Highlights magazines and coloring books you used to doodle in as a kid? Imagine your life depended on your ability to stay within the lines, only your arm had a mind of its own and the image you were coloring is constantly changing as you try to color it. Yeah, we had the same nightmare as kids ... and also, that's pretty much <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lilt-line"><em>Lilt Line</em></a> on Wii, the first game to be published - as opposed to developed - by Gaijin Games, the predominantly WiiWare dev studio behind the Bit.Trip series.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/lilt-line-preview-stay-between-the-lines/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lilt Line preview: Stay between the lines</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/lilt-line-preview-stay-between-the-lines/">Lilt Line preview: Stay between the lines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Sep 2010 19:40:00 EST. It's difficult to convey the sheer terror and chaos I experienced in the first few minutes of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/slam-bolt-scrappers"><em>Slam Bolt Scrappers</em></a></em> PAX demo. Though the Firehose Games reps told me how to play, it wasn't preparation enough for the actual game, a combination puzzler/brawler/strategy title that is one of the most unique blends of genres I've ever played. The learning curve was, um, <em>kinda steep!</em><br />

A lot of people have been making a big deal out of multiplayer in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/torchlight-2"><em>Torchlight 2</em></a> -- and rightfully so -- but not so much talk has been about modding. The first game had a substantial mod community, thanks in part to Runic Games offering mod tools for free to all players. And during my demo of the game at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a>, a Runic rep confirmed that the company will once again freely distribute mod tools to the public.<br />
<br />
But because of the addition of multiplayer, I was concerned about how mods will be shared now. The rep confirmed to me that players will be able to use the new multiplayer framework to find games incorporating mods but, better yet, all XP earned in these games will stay with your character. I was promised persistence across all games, be they mods or standard games. <br />

One final interesting tidbit: all loot dropped in multiplayer games will be client specific. This means that the items you see in your game are only in your game. No need for mad dashes to grab all the high-level loot drops!<br />

During the Xbox Live Enforcement panel at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a> this past weekend, director of policy and enforcement on Xbox Live, Stephen Toulouse (a.k.a. Stepto), recited "Stepto's Law" for the audience. The <em>complex</em> formula is used to determine the validity of a complaint issued by a banned Xbox Live user. The law goes like this:<br />
<blockquote>
<div>"The more convoluted, overwrought and lengthy the protest of innocence, the probability of it being bullshit approaches one."</div>
</blockquote> Toulouse feels that his law "tends to be almost 100 percent accurate of Xbox Live," but of course there can be exceptions to the rule -- er, <em>law</em>, in this case.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/07/pax-2010-steptos-law-of-xbox-live-ban-protests/">PAX 2010: Stepto's Law of Xbox Live ban protests</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Sep 2010 20:00:00 EST. Two new screens from <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragon-age-2">Dragon Age 2</a></em> have been passed along from BioWare, one of which showcases dudes with anteater masks. Sure, that may not be the <em>technical</em> term for said masks, but we're totally going with it. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-age-2-pax-prime-2010/">Dragon Age 2 (PAX Prime 2010)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-age-2-pax-prime-2010/#3338571"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/ladyhawkeblightlandwtmk_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-age-2-pax-prime-2010/#3338573"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/qunariusurperwtmk_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/07/a-pair-of-new-dragon-age-2-screens-care-of-pax/">A pair of new Dragon Age 2 screens, care of PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Sep 2010 16:49:00 EST. What's up now, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/comic-con-2010">Comic-Con</a>? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a> really brought it this year in terms of cosplay. There were street fighters, Spartans, zombies playing <em>Rock Band </em>and quite possibly the best Tali and Garrus we've ever seen (above). It may be a holiday here in the US, but the show must go on! This isn't a traditional episode -- instead, we're just talking PAX Prime 2010, answering some questions from Twitter and addressing some fanmail. We're trying to keep it casual, you know, so pull up a chair, grab a frosty beverage and kick it with your X3F buddies below. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
Oh, and we'd like to thank <a href="http://twitter.com/_misterd_">@_misterd_</a> for releasing the butterflies in the wonderful chop above. <br />

When <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deathspank-thongs-of-virtue">DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue</a></em> was first introduced, we were baffled by the mysterious origin of the game's various undergarments of legend. Head past the break and see for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/deathspank-thongs-of-virtues-virtuous-thongs-explained/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue's virtuous thongs: explained!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/deathspank-thongs-of-virtues-virtuous-thongs-explained/">DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue's virtuous thongs: explained!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Sep 2010 05:30:00 EST. Just two days after revealing its stewardship of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever">Duke Nukem Forever</a></em> title at PAX, Gearbox Software just revealed that it has actually purchased the <em>Duke Nukem</em> brand. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told an audience at PAX this afternoon that they're not just making sure <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> makes it to store shelves, but they've actually purchased the entire <em>Duke Nukem</em> IP. "We actually bought the brand," Pitchford told fans. "We bought <em>Duke Nukem</em>."<br />
<br />
A press release timed to go out with the announcement has some more information. Here's the big picture quote: "Gearbox Software announced today that it has acquired the full intellectual property rights of the 'Duke Nukem' brand including <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> and all future projects in a cooperative deal made with 3D Realms." Even more interesting: "The first product to be available under the <em>Duke Nukem</em> brand will be the long awaited <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em>." Naturally, if they're buying the brand you can imagine <em>DNF</em> won't be the last game to feature the Duke.<br />
<br />
Pitchford made a point to say that Alan Blum, the creator of the Duke Nukem franchise, is now with Gearbox. "He's on the 10th floor with his team," he said. He also wanted to explain that this franchise couldn't simply have been purchased by anyone. "I didn't buy it from [3D Realms]," Pitchford said. "They sold it to me." In the press release, 3D Realms' Scott Miller said, "Gearbox was handpicked as the new home for <em>Duke Nukem</em> because of their continued passion, commitment and long-time heritage with the brand and 3D Realms."<br />

We've got bad news and good news. First, the bad news: The new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/borderlands">Borderlands</a></em> DLC pack - that's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/borderlands-dlc-claptraps-new-robot-revolution-due-in-septemb/ "><em>Claptrap's New Robot Revolution</em></a> - won't include the two most requested features. Those would be a new level cap and a rebalancing of the main game to accomodate the new level cap. And neither of those will be included with the latest DLC. <br />
<br />
Now the good news: They <em>are</em> being included in a free update for the game across all three platforms, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford told a live PAX audience that his studio resisted making it a part of a DLC pack since, if they included those features, "you'd have to buy every previous DLC" to get access to said features. So, instead, Pitchford said they were going to release a "free update to <em>Borderlands</em> that will both rebalance the original game around the level cap and increase the level cap for everyone." <br />
<br />
But Pitchford said the studio still struggled with how high to raise it. On the one hand, Gearbox didn't want to match the 11-point upgrade that many people paid for with the "General Knox" DLC, but on the other the devs didn't want it to be too low, like 5-points. Instead, they came up with another number. "With the current level cap at 61," Pitchford teased, "we realized if we added 8 levels ... "<br />
<br />
The audience groans. <br />
<br />
So the new level cap is 69 and it will be released sometime around the October 12th <em>Borderlands</em> Game of the Year Edition release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/free-borderlands-update-will-raise-level-cap-rebalance-main-gam/">Free Borderlands update will raise level cap, rebalance main game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Sep 2010 19:00:00 EST. We can all agree that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-unleashed">Sonic Unleashed</a> </em>had some pretty deep lows -- specifically, the Werehog. But the daytime segments in the game showed promise; <em>almost</em> a return to form. These areas of the game, for the unaware, combined <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-adventure"><em>Sonic Adventure</em></a>-like 3D free-running elements alongside more classical, 2D elements from the series' past. It was easily the highlight of that game. <br />
<br />
And Sega knows it, which explains why <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-colors"><em>Sonic Colors</em></a> is pretty much nothing but those portions of gameplay. That alone would make for a pretty serviceable <em>Sonic</em> game, but Sega has also added Wisps: small alien creatures who imbue Sonic with one-time-use powers.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/">Sonic Colors (E3 2010)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079662"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079664"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079676"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/sonic-colors-preview-wisp-you-were-here/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sonic Colors preview: Wisp you were here</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/sonic-colors-preview-wisp-you-were-here/">Sonic Colors preview: Wisp you were here</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Sep 2010 16:00:00 EST. You know how we told you about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/iphone-bit-trip-beat-has-new-levels-multiplayer/">DLC for the iPhone and iPad versions</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Bit-Trip-Beat"><em>Bit.Trip Beat</em></a> a few days back? During an appointment with developer Gaijin Games here at PAX, CEO and designer Alex Neuse confirmed the exact nature of the DLC tracks: they're <em>Bit.Trip Void</em> songs!<br />
<br />
He informed Joystiq that the tracks weren't actually being developed by Gaijin Games, but were instead being crafted by the iPhone/iPad version's publisher, Namco-Bandai. Neuse is looking forward to trying the new tracks, as you'd imagine -- it's not every day you have an opportunity to be stumped by your own game, you know? <br />

Hothead revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/swarm"><em>Swarm</em></a> for the first time <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/30/hothead-games-unleashes-swarm-in-2011/">back at E3</a>. Then, we didn't know much about the game -- it's actually still in pre-Alpha, despite a launch window of "early 2011." We were given a demo of the game at PAX and finally came to understand what we were dealing with.<br />
<br />
It's hard to see the game and not compare it to <em>Lemmings</em>. Both games have a seemingly dull-witted cast who have found themselves inexplicably stuck in an incredibly dangerous environment. And both have the same means to persevere: teamwork.<br />

Just because you aren't at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">PAX Prime</a> this weekend doesn't mean you can't experience at least <em>some</em> of the joys and wonders that the show floor has to offer. For instance, the 10 straight minutes of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/portal-2">Portal 2</a></em> co-op gameplay that we've dropped after the break, courtesy of <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-10-portal-2/704062">GameTrailers</a> -- hearing the "oohs" and "aahs" of the crowd on all sides, you'll feel just like you're there! And sure, you might not get a free <em>Portal 2</em> shirt like this session's attendees did, but you can experience a heartwarming robot hug. During development of the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-combat-evolved"><em>Halo: Combat Evolved</em></a>, Bungie actually created a working boat. One map in particular was discussed during today's Bungie panel at PAX 2010 -- an area with several islands where the player would have to navigate from one to the other via watercraft. Bungie showed a video of an early rendering of the craft in use, which very much looked like a futuristic version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go-fast_boat">a cigarette boat</a>. <br />
<br />
In the end, it was cut from the game -- not because it didn't handle well, but because "it wasn't fun." Personally, we would've liked to try our hand at aquatic <em>Halo</em>ing, but then again we're <em>huge</em> fans of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkurWAXgZs"><em>Miami Vice</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/halo-combat-evolved-and-the-battle-for-boats/">Halo: Combat Evolved and the battle for boats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 17:30:00 EST. If you need proof that the upswing of independent game development is having an impact on more mainstream devs, look no further than <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/outland">Outland</a></em>, the upcoming XBLA and PSN release just revealed by Ubisoft during PAX 2010.<br />
<br />
Just tell me this doesn't seem like one of those way-out-there ideas, the product of one-man coding in his spare time: It's a beautifully rendered animated platformer that draws aesthetic inspiration from classics like <em>Out of this World</em> ... oh, and it's sort of based on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ikaruga">Ikaruga</a></em>.<br />
<br />
Crazy, yes, but also very real and, as I can attest after one of the levels and a boss battle, very beautiful. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/">Outland (first screens)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325826"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325828"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325829"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325830"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/outland-preview-when-shmups-grow-legs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Outland preview: When shmups grow legs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/outland-preview-when-shmups-grow-legs/">Outland preview: When shmups grow legs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 16:00:00 EST. New on this episode of the Joystiq Podcast: <em>Duke Nukem Forever </em>is fully coming out. Also new? GSM static at the beginning. Sorry about that, by the way.<br />
<br />
Also, some chat about <em>Outland </em>and some dudes flop on beanbags. <br />

While <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/30/hothead-games-unleashes-swarm-in-2011/">the first trailer</a> for Hothead's <em>Swarm </em>didn't feature any gameplay, it did show off the many,<em> many</em> ways to kill the game's main characters -- those little blue ... <em>things</em>. We're feeling that <em>Lemmings</em> vibe again in this new PAX trailer, which introduces the first gameplay footage.<br />
<br />
All those gruesome deaths? Just as comically effective in game. Head past the break to see for yourself.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/">Swarm</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/#3330697"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/swarm3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/#3330695"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/swarm1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/#3330696"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/swarm2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/#3336125"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/swarm962010image1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swarm/#3336126"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/swarm962010image2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/swarm-gameplay-trailer-plays-follow-the-leader/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Swarm gameplay trailer plays follow the leader</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/swarm-gameplay-trailer-plays-follow-the-leader/">Swarm gameplay trailer plays follow the leader</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Sep 2010 21:30:00 EST. Come get some background on Randy Pitchford's back-in-fashion Duke Nukem shirt, seen above:<br />
<br />
"I moved to Texas and became a professional game maker to join Allen Blum, he created<em> Duke Nukem 3D,</em>" the Gearbox co-founder told an audience at PAX. "He and Todd Replogle in Southern California, freaking invented this whole damned thing. And I moved out to Texas to join him and George Broussard and Scott Miller, and all the guys on the team, so that I could be part of <em>Duke Nukem 3</em>D. Because I wanted to add to that. I thought it was awesome; it was really fun and I wanted to be part of that team.<br />
<br />
"This t-shirt I'm wearing, George gave me this t-shirt in 1996," Pitchford continued, now speaking as part of the team that now hopes to complete <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em>. "And we've been waiting for this game ever since. Guys like Alan didn't want to let the Duke dream die. They've worked their butts off all this time making great stuff."<br />

After what is arguably the longest, most troubled development in the history of video games, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Duke-Nukem-Forever/"><em>Duke Nukem Forever</em></a> is finally, really, truly here. It's not being shown secretly, behind-closed-doors at some industry event. Instead, it's at PAX, an event that is, more than any other in this industry, consumer facing, and that tangibility is a big part of Gearbox's reveal. <br />
<br />
Wait, who? Gearbox Software, the Texas-based dev who's helping to bring 3D Realms' pre-Google (think about it!) labor of love to consoles, is behind this revival along with publisher 2K Games. "This is a game you can't make promises about," Gearbox prez Randy Pitchford told an audience of incredulous gamers this morning. "Haven't we not been teased enough? We don't want to tease. We just thought we'd bring it to PAX." And Gearbox didn't just bring a trailer - although it did bring one of those - but more importantly, there's about 15 minutes of playable game. Let that sink in for a while.<br />
<br />
While we weren't able to grab video of the trailer - you'll have to settle for my account - Pitchford did say that people could take pics. Actually, he said, "You've got cameras. You've got cellphones with cameras on them. Take all the pictures you want [...] We'll even take the pictures for you." You know, when <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> was first announced, I didn't have a cellphone yet ... and the idea of a cellphone with a camera on it? Madness. <br />

Perhaps it isn't enough for you to know that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/firefall">Firefall</a></em> -- Red 5 Studios' first release -- is full of guns and jetpacks? Would it help if you knew that the lead designer was also headed up <em>Tribes</em>? Ahhh, good! <em>Firefall</em> is a "team-based action shooter" featuring "hundreds of players" completing objectives and <em>battling to the death</em> in a "dynamic open world." And, frankly, it looks great.<br />
<br />
The title is free-to-play and relies on an in-game marketplace for profit. We might normally balk at such a monetization system, but we were thoroughly impressed by the game's debut gameplay trailer, not to mention the pedigree behind <em>Firefall</em>. If you're as enticed as we are, you'll be glad to know that <a href="http://www.firefallthegame.com/forums/register.php">Red 5 is accepting applications</a> for the game's beta starting <em>right now</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/firefall/">Firefall</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/firefall/#3330067"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/firefall1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/firefall/#3330068"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/firefall2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/firefall/#3330069"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/firefall3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/firefall/#3330070"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/firefall4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/red-5-studios-reveal-firefall-coming-to-pc-near-the-end-of-201/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Red 5 Studios reveal Firefall, coming to PC 'near the end of 2011'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/red-5-studios-reveal-firefall-coming-to-pc-near-the-end-of-201/">Red 5 Studios reveal Firefall, coming to PC 'near the end of 2011'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Sep 2010 14:30:00 EST. It's finally, really, actually ... maybe going to happen at this point. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/rumor-duke-nukem-forever-being-completed-by-gearbox/">rumors</a> are true: Gearbox Software and 2K Games have taken on the Herculean task of completing and <em>releasing</em> 3D Realms' unfinished <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em>. The project was officially unveiled today at PAX during a <a href="http://www.ustream.tv/2kgameslive">livestreamed</a> presentation at the 2K Games booth and announced for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. "It's coming out in 2011," Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said during the presentation. (Of course, we're skeptical about <em>any</em> release date associated with this particular title.)<br />
<br />
Gearbox began finishing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever"><em>Duke Nukem Forever</em></a> in late 2009, according to <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/09/03/controversial-long-awaited-duke-nukem-forever-will-finally-be-released/">The Wall Street Journal</a>. "Clearly the game hadn't been finished at 3D Realms but a lot of content had been created," Pitchford told WSJ.<br />
<br />
"We're in the polishing phase now. This is a game where we can not make a promise we can not fulfill," Pitchford added. "We need to get past the shock and awe, and then we can go to all the retailers and first parties and work out a launch plan."<br />
<br />
<em>Duke Nukem Forever </em>is a sequel to <em>Duke Nukem 3D</em> and will feature both a single-player campaign and multiplayer. "Aliens come and say they're going to be our friends, and Duke knows this isn't going to work out," Pitchford revealed of the plot. "Duke once again is in the pivotal spot and it's up to him to save the world."<br />

At least, according to an effusive
<meta charset="utf-8"><a href="http://twitter.com/SuperDunner/status/22894385033">tweet</a> from Joystiq alum Dustin Burg. In addition, a source at the convention told Joystiq that images of Duke Nukem are visible at the 2K booth, which has yet to open to the public. The Gearbox logo can be seen, but the title of whatever Duke Nukem game is being promoted is currently covered.<br />
<br />
However, we might have a clue, thanks to reports coming in from <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=262868">CVG</a>'s "US dev sources," who tell the site that the game is actually <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever"><em>Duke Nukem Forever</em></a><em>,</em> and will be given a "grand demo" at the show. Rumors have been flying recently about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/rumor-duke-nukem-forever-being-completed-by-gearbox/">Gearbox</a> signing on to complete the game. Also flying: pigs, in an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/2k-games-to-stream-something-big-from-pax-tomorrow-morning/">image tweeted by 3D Realms' George Broussard</a> (who joked with 1UP in a <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=1&amp;cId=3147571">January 2006 interview</a> that he expected <em>DNF</em> to be released "when pigs fly")
<meta charset="utf-8">. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/2k-games-to-stream-something-big-from-pax-tomorrow-morning/">2K did say</a> it planned "something big" at its booth, and this would certainly qualify.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Gearbox creative director Mikey Neumann <a href="http://twitter.com/mikeyface/statuses/22896853924">tweeted</a> a picture of CEO Randy Pitchford wearing a Duke t-shirt. Seems portentous!<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 2:</strong> A partial image from 2KGames' <a href="http://twitter.com/2KGames/status/22901693197">Twitter account</a> also shows the Duke "radioactive" logo.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 3:</strong> Well, here's the most concrete evidence you could ever ask for. <a href="http://blog.pikimal.com/geek/2010/09/03/piki-at-pax-the-duke-he-has-returned/">Pikimal</a> [via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/65435">Shacknews</a>] posted several images, like the photo stand seen above, of <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> signs at the 2K booth. </meta>

When Supergiant Games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/11/super-giant-games-new-studio-of-former-command-and-conquer-vets/">opened its doors</a> during GDC earlier this year, it revealed it was working on a digital title to be released in 2011. This week, <a href="http://www.giantbomb.com/news/heres-a-quick-exclusive-glimpse-at-a-pax-10-selection/2491/">Giant Bomb</a> unveiled that title -- it's called <em>Bastion</em> and should be available for public consumption by next summer.<br />
<br />
Supergiant explains <em>Bastion</em> as an "action role-playing game set in a lush imaginative world, in which players must create and fight for civilization's last refuge as a mysterious narrator marks their every move." The "mysterious," somewhat lyrical narrator makes his first appearance in the game's trailer -- which we've dropped after the break. Considering Supergiant's pedigree (ex-EALA <em>Command &amp; Conquer</em> devs) and how beautifully detailed this initial media is, we have high hopes for <em>Bastion</em>.<br />
<br />
The game will be playable at PAX Prime this weekend as part of the "PAX 10."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/">Bastion</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/#3325984"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bastion1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/#3325985"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bastion2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/#3325986"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bastion3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/#3325989"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bastion4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bastion/#3325992"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bastion5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/bastion-is-super-giant-games-first-title-playable-at-pax/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bastion is Supergiant Games' first title, playable at PAX</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/bastion-is-super-giant-games-first-title-playable-at-pax/">Bastion is Supergiant Games' first title, playable at PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 22:00:00 EST. Before you and the many thousands of <em>other yous</em> gets a chance to go hands-on with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/killzone-3">Killzone 3</a></em> this weekend at PAX Prime, <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/news/201009/02032813.html">Famitsu</a> has a smattering of new images to hungrily dig through for new information. One thing solidly confirmed by these shots? <em>Dusters</em>. Hooded dusters, no less!<br />
<br />
And hey, if you ask us, there's a severe underuse of dusters in the world of video games. Unfortunately for the gentleman above, he seems to have been <em>socked in the face</em> several moments before the image was taken, so his duster is fluttering through the air along with his torso. Hopefully you'll fare better <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/get-hands-on-with-killzone-3-multiplayer-at-pax/">this weekend at PAX</a>!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/killzone-3-screenshots-feature-hoodies-pummeling/">Killzone 3 screenshots feature hoodies, pummeling</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 19:40:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-2"><em>Infamous 2</em></a> is set to electrify (hopefully, <em>not</em> literally) the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a> crowd with seven demo kiosks on the show floor this weekend. The demos feature Cole's new glorified cattle prod weapon and will be set up at booth #122, where developer Sucker Punch will be giving away a "limited number" of t-shirts (pictured).<br />
<br />
The crew from Sucker Punch will also be holding the "Creating Super Powers" panel in the Seattle Sheraton's Pegasus Theater at 6:30PM PT on Saturday. They'll show off the new Kinetic Pulse power and an enemy known as the "Ravager." It's sure to be electric ... boogie woogie woogie.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/infamous-2-at-pax-playable-panel-and-cool-shirt/">Infamous 2 at PAX: playable, panel and cool shirt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 17:30:00 EST. <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/killzone-3">Killzone 3</a></em>'s multiplayer is set for its first public hands-on engagement this week at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a>. There will be 16 multiplayer stations set up at the show for players to compete in 8v8 matches. Sony will also have four pods set up for single-player, with an additional three featuring the game in 3D -- there's nothing quite like a reload animation in 3D.<br />
<br />
If you don't care about standing around in line to touch some plague-infested controller (Purell is your friend), the company will have limited supplies of <em>Killzone</em> swag bags at the booth. Also, there's mention of some "collectible art cards" at the booth that will have instructions on how to "win" a code for entry into the <em>Killzone 3</em> beta.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/">Killzone 3 (05-27-10)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/#3018367"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/screenshot200903211718-5272010-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/#3018368"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/screenshot200903211724-5272010-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/#3018369"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/screenshot200903211730-5272010-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/#3018370"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/screenshot200903211739-5272010-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-3-05-27-10/#3018372"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/screenshot200903211755-5272010-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/get-hands-on-with-killzone-3-multiplayer-at-pax/">Get hands-on with Killzone 3 multiplayer at PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Sep 2010 21:00:00 EST. There's plenty of other exciting stuff, like <em>Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Okamiden, Ghost Trick</em>, and <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>, but we admit we only noticed those things with great difficulty, after forcing our eyes away from the words "Mega Man Universe." <br />
<br />
PAX will be our first opportunity to find out what exactly <em>Universe</em> is, something that has been weighing heavily on us since we saw that stop-motion trailer. Capcom promises "new, never before seen trailers and game levels." See the full list after the break, and find the list of swag you can get at Capcom's booth at <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/snow_infernus/blog/2010/09/01/capcom_returns_to_pax_west_2010">Capcom-Unity</a> -- including details on how to get your very own moustache.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/capcoms-pax-prime-lineup-includes-mega-man-universe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capcom's PAX Prime lineup includes Mega Man Universe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/capcoms-pax-prime-lineup-includes-mega-man-universe/">Capcom's PAX Prime lineup includes Mega Man Universe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Sep 2010 20:30:00 EST. Fire Hose Games'<em> Slam Bolt Scrappers</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/preview-slam-bolt-scrappers/">impressed us at E3</a> even though it was a ways off from its expected "early 2011" launch on PSN. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a>, taking place this weekend in Seattle, will be the public-at-large's next chance to see what we were talking about. The game will be playable at booth #3834, and the developers will be on hand for feedback.<br />
<br />
<em>Slam Bolt Scrappers</em> is an intuitive and hectic combination of <em>Rampart</em> and <em>Tetris</em>. If you're at PAX, definitely check it out. The latest trailer for the game can be found after the break.<br />

Treasure's multi-scrolling, fruit-collecting shooter series <em>Bangai-O</em> is heading to XBLA this fall, published by D3 Publisher and priced at 800 Microsoft Points. <em>Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury</em> features over 100 levels of omnidirectional blasting. Like its DS predecessor <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/bangai-o-spirits">Bangai-O Spirits</a></em>, it also features a level editor, though presumably the XBLA version won't require levels to be traded as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/bangai-o-spirits-on-ds-features-unique-sound-load-technology/">sound files</a>.<br />
<br />
The game will be on display this weekend at PAX for attendees who feel like hitting giant soccer balls into ninja robots -- with a baseball bat, in exchange for giant fruit.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/31/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-blowing-up-xbla-this-fall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury blowing up XBLA this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/31/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-blowing-up-xbla-this-fall/">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury blowing up XBLA this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 14:40:00 EST. Are you in the process of packing the items necessary for survival during your upcoming trip to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">Penny Arcade Expo</a>? You might want to consider adding Proxima Labs' "<a href="http://proximalabs.com/projects/conventionist/">The Conventionist</a>" to your list. The free iPhone app includes a full, interactive schedule for each day of the expo, a map of the convention center and the ability to browse through both while offline. Which is fortunate, since large crowds of tech-savvy people have a tendency to <em>wreck</em> your phone's 3G functionality.<br />
<br />
Best of all, the app can be updated to provide support for other conventions as well. We sure hope the the 2010 Des Moines Apple Butter Festival makes the cut! We always get lost between the cider mill and the ol' birch tree.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/31/grab-the-free-conventionist-app-perfect-for-pax-navigation/">Grab the free Conventionist app, perfect for PAX navigation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 00:00:00 EST. The company will also have a brand new title on display: <em>Outland</em> for PSN and XBLA, for which attendees will be able to see "a sneak peek."<br />
<br />
It's possible this game is related to the upcoming <em><a href="http://www.collider.com/2009/08/18/michael-davis-to-revamp-outland/">Outland</a></em><a href="http://www.collider.com/2009/08/18/michael-davis-to-revamp-outland/"> movie remake</a>. Ubisoft hasn't given any clues other than the title, so it could be a game based on the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outland_(comic_strip)">comic strip</a>, for all we know. We'll all find out at PAX, unless everyone is too busy pre-ordering <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-brotherhood">Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood</a></em> (you get a free T-shirt for pre-ordering the game at PAX) or staring at <em>Child of Eden</em> to notice.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/ubisoft-to-reveal-outland-for-psn-and-xbla-at-pax/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ubisoft to reveal 'Outland' for PSN and XBLA at PAX</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/ubisoft-to-reveal-outland-for-psn-and-xbla-at-pax/">Ubisoft to reveal 'Outland' for PSN and XBLA at PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Aug 2010 13:57:00 EST. Worried you weren't going to get <em>Nail'd</em> at this year's PAX Prime? Southpeak Games wants to assure you that you <em>absolutely</em> will -- more to the point, you can stop by the publisher's booth to get some hands-on time with upcoming MX/ATV racer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/naild"><em>Nail'd</em></a> (you see what we did there?). Southpeak is also bringing <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/two-worlds-2">Two Worlds 2</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battle-vs-chess">Battle Vs. Chess</a></em>, and previously unheard of motorcycle racer <em>SBK-X</em> for attendees to check out.<br />
<br />
Also, if you're over 10 years old, you could try your hand at some <em>Nail'd</em> speed trials for a chance to win the 70cc Mini-Motocross Pit Bike pictured above. While it might not put you in the running for "Toughest Motocross Dude Ever," it's a <em>totally adorable</em> little motorcycle. Who could say no to that? A monster, that's who. And you're not a <em>monster</em>, right?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/27/southpeak-games-bringing-naild-two-worlds-2-and-more-to-pax/">Southpeak Games bringing Nail'd, Two Worlds 2 and more to PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Aug 2010 07:00:00 EST. Be sure to bring your DS as well, as Nintendo will be distributing a new <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dragon-quest-ix">Dragon Quest IX</a></em> map, "Orgodemir." If you're anything like us (which is to say hopeless), the rest of the convention will be spent trying to complete said map. Go sit on one of those bean bags and find some pals for multiplayer questing!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/nintendo-bringing-fall-lineup-new-wiiware-game-to-pax/">Nintendo bringing fall lineup, new WiiWare game to PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 22:00:00 EST. If you're a single male hoping to have some casual sex with a large group of PAX attendees you have, tragically, waited too long. Couples, on the other hand, are still encouraged to break out the Mana-brand personal lubricant, head over to <a href="http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cas/1919794030.html">Craigslist</a> and <em>start the revolution</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/pax-nerd-orgy-no-longer-accepting-single-male-participants/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX nerd orgy no longer accepting single male participants</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/pax-nerd-orgy-no-longer-accepting-single-male-participants/">PAX nerd orgy no longer accepting single male participants</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 17:45:00 EST. Back in June, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/pax-prime-2010-performers-and-exhibitors-announced/">list of exhibitors and performers</a> was revealed for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">PAX Prime</a>, and now the official site just posted the full schedule for this year's show. PAX 2010 is looking <em>especially </em>busy, consisting of the usual Penny Arcade Q&amp;A panels, but also an interesting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kinect">Kinect</a> justification panel, a look at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/30/insomniac-to-announce-new-game-before-pax-demo-it-there/">Insomniac's next PS3 game</a> and the future of PC gaming. Seriously, <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/schedule.php">check out this link</a> -- there's <em>so much</em>, we're getting tired just looking at it!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/pax-prime-2010-schedule-revealed/">PAX Prime 2010 schedule revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Aug 2010 22:00:00 EST.
