Can we just say, Nintendo: <em>loving</em> the boxart for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/corocoro-reveals-more-on-upcoming-pokemon-platinum/"><em>Pok&eacute;mon Platinum</em></a>. Whereas the art for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl/871395/full/"><em>Diamond</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl/871396//full/"><em>Pearl</em></a> relied on darker, more subdued colors, <em>Platinum</em>'s box employs a striking combination of red, black, and white, blasting out in beams from the center of the cover. It's almost as though cover star Giratina is leaping <em>right out of the box</em> at the viewer/shopper. He's coming to get you, kids! <em>That</em> will be under your bed tonight! <em>Muahaha</em>.<br /><br />As well as the cover, GAME Watch also has a small pool of character art (featuring Regice, Registeel, Regirock, and Regigigas) and screens (which can be found in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-platinum/871385/">our gallery</a>). It looks ... well, pretty much like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/diamond">same</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pearl">game</a> you bought last year. Will that stop you buying it? Nope, thought not.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/pokemon-platinum-boxart-is-super-effective-at-being-awesome/">Pokemon Platinum boxart is super effective at being awesome</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 12:30:00 EST. <br />Pok&eacute;maniacs, take note: between now and the end of June, the Nintendo World Store in New York will be offering <a href="http://www.pokemon.com/darkrai/">Darkrai</a> as a free download. That means you've got precisely twenty-seven days to save up for and book a flight/ferry/coach ticket to the Big Apple to scoop one of the more elusive thirteen <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legendary_pokemon#Legendary_Pok.C3.A9mon_and_events">Legendary</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon">Pok&eacute;mon</a> in <em>Pok&eacute;mon Diamond</em> or <em>Pearl</em> (note: there are <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehU7ntPe6mA">certain other methods</a> to obtaining Darkrai that <em>lack scruples</em>).<br /><br />If you were looking for a perfect excuse for a break in The City That Never Sleeps, this could be it. We're sure that some of you will be buying <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/a-better-look-at-corocoro-comics-pokemon-platinum-reveal/"><em>Pok&eacute;mon Platinum</em></a> (whenever it ends up coming out here) just for this thing, so here's a nice clear picture of it. This is the new form of Giratina, <em>Platinum's</em> cover Pokeman. <em>Dengeki</em> labels it the "Origin" form, and it's pretty clear that this is some kind of larval stage in the Ghost/Dragon Legendary Pok&eacute;mon's development, with spikes sticking out where its legs go.<br /><br />The screen shown in the CoroCoro scan, with the male trainer's <em>new jacket</em>, is also available in higher quality at the link, along with another screen featuring some mysterious shadow thing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/pokemon-platinum-giratinas-wormy-new-form/">Pokemon Platinum: Giratina's wormy new form</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 May 2008 11:45:00 EST. If that headline appeared nigh undecipherable to your uninitiated eyes, count yourself very, <em>very</em> lucky, and quickly move on to the next story. Those whose hearts and pokeballs perked up upon seeing that teasing title will be happy to know that <a href="http://www.pokemon.com/darkrai/">the heretofore uncatchable Darkrai</a>, of <em>Pokemon Diamond and Pearl</em> fame, will be made quite catchable come the weekend of May 31 - June 1, when <a href="http://pokemon.com/#news_/XML/news_251.xml">participating Toys R' Us stores will digitally distribute the inn key</a> required to reach <a href="http://serebii.net/pokedex-dp/491.shtml">said public enemy no. 491</a>.<br /><br />Though it's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-sell-1-million-in-5-days/">a year since the monster enslaving simulator was released</a>, we're sure that the retailer will find themselves slammed by DS-wielding trainers-in-training over the course of that weekend. We doubt that the avarice of many a poketrainer has been slaked by the current digital menagerie -- as they march onward into adorable battle, do they shout, "Gotta Catch All But One or Two of Them?" No, <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=hbu-a29Fdco">their kind is inclined to catch them all</a>, and then, in some terrifying cases,<em> their shiny counterparts</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jenni.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/darkrai-distribution-events-coming-to-toys-r-us-may-31-june-1/">Darkrai distribution events coming to Toys R' Us May 31 - June 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 18:30:00 EST. The latest issue of <em>CoroCoro Comic</em> has turned out to be a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/rumor-paper-mario-port-on-the-way/">gold mine</a> of Nintendo rumors, as a scan of the magazine has revealed another <em>very</em> believable rumor about a big Nintendo franchise. This time they're <em>strongly implying</em> that a new <em>Pok&eacute;mon</em> game will come out this year, and that it'll probably be the third game in the <em>Diamond </em>and <em>Pearl</em> series.<br /><br />Since, as the chart here indicates,<em> every</em> pair of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/">Pok</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/"><em>&eacute;</em></a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/">mon</a></em> games are followed by one of these 'remakes' (except for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/rare-pokemon-cartridge-holds-a-litter-of-mews/">FireRed</a> and LeafGreen</em>, which are <em>themselves</em> remakes), we find this rumor completely plausible. And <em>Pok</em><em>&eacute;</em><em>mon</em> fans, who have been conditioned into a collecting mentality, will buy the game for a third time.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278085">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/17/rumor-pokemans-let-nintendo-sell-you-them-again/">Rumor: Pokemans: Let Nintendo sell you them again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Apr 2008 09:45:00 EST. <div align="left">For those of you who picked up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pbr">Pokemon Battle Revolution</a> </em>on the Wii, there's a special mystery gift awaiting you. Once you get the gift, which you can receive by solving a couple of click-happy puzzles set up by Nintendo, you can transfer it to your copy of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/diamond">Pokemon Diamond</a> </em>and/or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pearl"><em>Pearl</em></a> on your DS. So what <em>is</em> the gift? <br /><br />It's a mystery, how should we know? We'd like to find out, but in the fast-paced, life-and-death world of blogging, we don't have the time to solve the mysteries of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon"><em>Pokemon</em></a> gifts. Be sure to let us know what it is when you find out, though!</div>

Just about the only thing we knew about the <em>Pokemon</em> Wii Ware title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/10/new-channel-blowout-everybodys-nintendo-mii-contest-and-more/"><em>Pok&eacute;</em><em>mon </em><em>Ranch</em></a>, is that you can import critters from <em>Diamond </em>and <em>Pearl.</em> According to the latest preview from Famitsu, you'll be able to play with those Pokemans once they get to the ranch, in the game now officially titled <em>Minna no </em><em>Pok&eacute;</em><em>mon Bokujou</em> (<em>Everyone's </em><em>Pok&eacute;</em><em>mon </em><em>Ranch</em>). No better way to give your fighting slave a break than by forcing it to dance and give you a piggyback ride!<br /><br />You can also pose (your Mii) for pictures with those Pokemans, which can be saved on an SD card and transferred to a computer. A real computer, not one of those in-game <em>Pok&eacute;</em><em>mon </em>computers used to transfer captured Pok&eacute;mon.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1213846_1407.html">Famitsu</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/round-up-your-pokemon-for-a-photo/">Round up your Pokemon for a photo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2008 10:30:00 EST. It's been a good year, but sadly, like all those <span style="font-style: italic;">other </span>years, it must come to an end. Before we roll out the red carpet for 2008, however, we wanted to give 2007 the send-off it deserves -- and what better way to do that than by offering up huge prize packs for our loyal readers? All you have to do is <span style="font-weight: bold;">leave a comment on this very post telling us which DS model(s) you own</span>, between now and December 26. The giveaway closes that night at 11:59 p.m. EST, and we'll announce the winners, chosen in a random drawing, on December 27. You may only enter <span style="font-weight: bold;">once per day</span>, and as usual, entries are limited to legal U.S. residents age 18 and older. Please check the <a href="http://www.weblogsinc.com/weblogs-giveaways-official-rules/">official rules</a> for any other questions.<br /><br />But enough of the details -- let's get to the prize packages!<br /><br /><strong>DS Fanboy's End of Year Fanswag Blowout<br /><u>Grand Prize </u><br /></strong>

Growing up, we all had our share of classes in school that approached education from an odd angle in an effort to keep us from staring out the window while daydreaming of the game we left on pause before getting on the bus. Games seldom played a role in the classroom, though the times spent playing educational games like <em>Oregon Trail</em> in school still make up some of our most fond memories. We were too busy having fun to know -- or care -- that we were being educated.<br /><br />Similarly, Nintendo, it seems, has latched onto the idea of tricking kids into having fun while learning. The company has partnered with the National Institute of Aerospace and Nortel LearniT for a set of <a href="http://www.masterthescience.org/">downloadable lesson plans</a> for science teachers that use characters and concepts from <em>Pokemon</em>, specifically <em>Diamond </em>and <em>Pearl</em>. Examples include learning how to tell time by the sun by studying the time-controlling Pokemon Dialga, or looking to Palkai's ability to control space as a window into the real universe. <br /><br />It's a interesting concept, obviously, though this flirts a <em>bit </em>too close to in-school marketing for our tastes. Aimed at children in grades 3-8, it's a good bet that many of these kids already know and play <em>Pokemon</em>, but for those who are not already one of the Nintendo faithful this could be an effective, if questionable means to secure new followers. 'Gotta catch 'em all' indeed.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/science-classes-look-to-pokemon-for-answers/">Science classes look to Pokemon for answers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 13:26:00 EST. Like, today. Amazon.com is offering <em>Pokemon Pearl</em> as their Deal of the Day, for $20. Considering that <em>Fire Red </em>and <em>Leaf Green</em> are <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-45496734930-Pokemon-Fire-Version/dp/B0006GBCZU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7287626-8333664?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1187167617&amp;sr=1-1"><em>also</em> $20</a>, this is a killer deal. <br /><br />We doubt the supply is going to hold out for the whole day (or the whole time it's taking us to write this), so ask yourself right now if you want hundreds of hours of intensely complicated role-playing in a kid-friendly package. Alternately, ask yourself just <em>how</em> cute you think Pikachu is: <em>awww</em> cute or <em>buy stuff </em>cute? <p>The British gaming industry sales watchers at MCV are reporting today that the DS has overtaken both the PS2 and PC in unit sales and overall market value in the UK. They attribute the little portable's triumph to its strong sales since Easter, as well as bumper crop of high quality releases, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/diamond-and-pearl-10-million-served/"><em>Pokemon Diamond and Pearl</em></a><em> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/e307-brain-age-2-is-looking-better-all-the-time/"><em>More Brain Training</em></a>, that currently account for over 15% of the all game sales!</p>
<p>While sales of Apple's iPod might indicate otherwise, one has to wonder how long the DS can hold onto its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/forget-e3-the-ds-wins-everything-else/">worldwide domination</a>. But by then, it'll be time for some new colors or an even sleeker form factor. During a long flight, he decided to play some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pearl/">Pearl, </a>despite not having been much of a fan previously. <br /><br />It turns out that the game was an excellent distraction. Ishihara believes that a certain franchise is going to win the "hardware war" for Nintendo. Guess which franchise? Of course he does! We all do: they're all in the previous games. We love <em>Pok&eacute;mon, </em>but we are willing to admit that <em>they're pretty much all the same game.</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=5935&amp;Itemid=2">Next Generation</a>] <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/pokemon-company-ceo-pokemon-is-important/">Pokemon Company CEO: Pokemon is important</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Jun 2007 16:00:00 EST. It appears that not only can you generate any Pokemon, you can then assign them abilities outside their type, and with more PP than the abilities can usually have. You need some kind of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/homebrew/">homebrew</a> ability to do this, obviously, since you need to get your savegames onto the computer. <br /><br />There's even a <a href="http://pkm.m2pt5.com/">database of downloadable Pokemon</a>, so you can get started cheating right away. We wouldn't recommend you use ill-gotten Pokemon online, but for your own use, we don't see why you should be bound by the limitations of the game.<br /><br />Check after the break for a tutorial video sent to us by the <a href="http://www.hallofbards.com/">Hall of Bards</a>. So now that we're approaching the halfway point of 2007, we <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/dsd">thought we'd ask</a> -- is <em>Phantom Hourglass</em> still your top choice, particularly now that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/01/pokemon-diamond-pearl-review/"><em>Pok&eacute;mon Diamond</em> and <em>Pearl</em></a> are out?<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/01/ds-daily-is-phantom-hourglass-still-your-most-wanted/">DS Daily: Is Phantom Hourglass still your most wanted?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Jun 2007 09:00:00 EST. Remember the days when Nintendo's hardware was at a permanent and incredibly depressing <a href="http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdpcm/is_200510/ai_n15666264">third place</a> in the sales charts, month after month? We sure can't; all this success has gone to our heads.<br /><br />The April NPD numbers, tracking hardware and software sales in North America, were released recently and Nintendo once again <em>obliterated</em> the competition. The Nintendo DS and the Wii took the top two spots for the fourth month running, with 471,000 and 360,000 units sold, respectively. Both of these figures more than <em>double</em> their nearest competitors (PSP and the Xbox 360), and the PS3 could only move a paltry 82,000 units.<br /><br />It's the same story in software. Nintendo took home the top four spots across all systems with the releases of <em>Pokemon Diamond/Pearl</em> and <em>Super Paper Mario</em>, along with the still oddly popular <em>Wii Play</em>. The <em>Pokemon</em> titles, of course, were only available for a <em>single</em> week in April, yet still captured the top spots with a combined 1.7 million units sold.<br /><br />It just makes you all <em>tingly</em> inside, doesn't it? For the full hardware and software figures, click after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/18/nintendo-dominates-aprils-npd/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo dominates April's NPD</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/18/nintendo-dominates-aprils-npd/">Nintendo dominates April's NPD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 May 2007 11:30:00 EST. Ever wondered what it would be like to work for Iwata? This quote should replace that wonder with <em>terror: </em> "When I received a report from the U.S. that they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/diamond-and-pearl-sell-a-million-in-5-days/">sold 1 million</a> <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon">Pok&eacute;mon</a> Diamond &amp; Pearl</em> already, I asked them, 'why did you sell only 10,000 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/brainage"><em>Brain Age</em></a> last week, when Europe sold through 30,000?' This is a typical example of how I communicate with our people in the U.S."<br /><br />Why would Iwata be so mean in the face of ostensibly great news? Because he's a huge jerk? Probably not. For one thing, <em>Pok&eacute;mon </em>selling a million copies doesn't mean that anyone at Nintendo of America did anything particularly well. All they had to do was release it, making sure that the word "Pok&eacute;mon" was clearly visible on the box.<br /><br />But more importantly, Iwata isn't looking just to sell a bunch of games. He wants to expand the gaming market in the US like the DS has in Japan, and for that, <em>Brain Age</em> needs to get into non-gamers' hands. Then Nintendo can sell a bunch of games to <em>them</em> as well as to Nintendo fans. As Iwata notes in the report, 500,000 DS systems were sold in the US in March, which is a large number, but not as large as the 600,000 to 700,000 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hardware">sold in Japan</a> each month.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153634">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/04/iwata-reminds-nintendo-of-america-whos-boss/">Iwata reminds Nintendo of America who's boss</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 May 2007 10:00:00 EST. He <strike>tried to do just that</strike> thought of doing that for his review of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/">Pokemon</a> Diamond </em>and <em>Pearl, </em><strike>and was denied,</strike> but went with the more traditional approach in the end. <strike>Luckily for us, personal blogs face no such content approval process</strike>. But rather than scrap the idea altogether, Parish has drawn up part 1 of his <em>Pokemon </em>review comic on both his <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8095244&amp;publicUserId=5379721">1UP blog</a> and his personal blog <a href="http://www.gamespite.net/">GameSpite</a>, with a promise to continue the story of ... well, of a guy reviewing <em>Pokemon.<br /><br /></em>We're big fans of Mr. Parish-- we listen to his 1UP podcast <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3156908">Retronauts</a> every week, just like every sane person should. Not only that, we continue to be enthralled by anything that makes use of the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/24/ds-daily-your-team-thus-far/">Pokemans</a>" meme. So there was <em>no choice</em> but to post this comic when we saw it. Our hands were tied. What do you think about "alternative" review formats like this one?<br /><em><br /></em><font color="red">Update: </font>Changed to reflect the actual circumstances of the strip's creation, thanks to a correction from Mr. Parish himself.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/03/parishs-rejected-pokemans-review-let-us-show-you-it/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Parish's rejected Pokemans review: Let us show you it [update 1]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/03/parishs-rejected-pokemans-review-let-us-show-you-it/">Parish's rejected Pokemans review: Let us show you it [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 May 2007 17:05:00 EST. Plus, with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/27/ds-fanboy-presents-game-night-4-26-07-aftermath/">challenge</a> sitting on the table, we're all going to need to train our guys long and hard if we plan on destroying the competition come Game Night.<br /><br />So, have fun with those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/">Pokemon</a> this weekend!<br /><br /><strong>Previous posts: </strong><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/what-are-you-playing">What were you playing?</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/27/wrup-gotta-catch-em-all-edition/">WRUP: Gotta catch 'em all edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Apr 2007 13:00:00 EST. In Japan, the two titles have sold an aggregate of 5 million since its launch in the region September 28 of last year. Of course, these sales all but guarantee two more titles in the <em>Pokemon</em> franchise, <em>Kryptonite</em> and <em>Adamantium</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-sell-1-million-in-5-days/">New Pokemon duo sell 1 million in 5 days in US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Apr 2007 15:55:00 EST. This comes only five days after the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/23/pokemon-invade-new-york-city/">release</a> on Sunday, showing that even though the franchise has been around for awhile, it is still alive and kicking. This time period in which the game has sold is only rivaled by the franchise's first title launching in the U.S. almost a decade ago.<br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/pokemon-pokes-fun-at-sony/"><em>Pokemon </em>pokes fun at Sony</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/diamond-and-pearl-sell-a-million-in-5-days/">Diamond and Pearl sell a million in 5 days</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Apr 2007 15:00:00 EST. The store, which is located in Montreal, is apparently breaking the street date on the game, however upon checking their website, you can see the game is only available for pre-order. Already, presale orders easily top half a million in the United States. Unsurprisingly, this has landed the titles on the list of predicted bestsellers by year's end. To offer a little perspective, preorder numbers double those of <em>Pok&eacute;mon FireRed</em> and <em>Pok&eacute;mon LeafGreen</em>, the games that debuted in 2004. Those games went on to sell nearly three and a half million.<br /><br />Are you one among many -- do you have either (or both) of these titles on preorder, or are you more the sort to cross your fingers and call your local gaming store on release day? Or are you -- gasp! -- not planning to get your <em>Pok&eacute;mon</em> on at all?<br /><br />[Via press release.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/18/pokemon-may-be-a-little-popular/">Pokemon may be a little popular</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Apr 2007 14:05:00 EST. Having a first-party alternative to the DS' less-than-exemplary <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/microphone">microphone</a> and speakers would be nice, but we're not thrilled about having to spend $14.99 to purchase one.<br /><br />Amazon makes our decision an easy one, cutting the headset's pre-order price down to $9.99. How are we supposed to turn down a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deal">deal</a> like that? If you add an item or two to your cart, you'll also be eligible for free shipping! Why not pick up one of the many DS games that the site has on sale? Check out the list of Amazon's $24.00 titles past the post break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com">CAG</a>]<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/28/nintendo-ds-headset-pre-order-sale-at-amazon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo DS headset pre-order sale at Amazon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/28/nintendo-ds-headset-pre-order-sale-at-amazon/">Nintendo DS headset pre-order sale at Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Mar 2007 16:30:00 EST. Now the new Pok&eacute;mon Diamond and Pearl creatures have been <a href="http://serebii.net/diamondpearl/newpokes.shtml">revealed</a> to the faithful.<br /><br />With a total of 493 Pok&eacute;mon, we yearn for the day Nintendo takes all their Pok&eacute;mon money and genetically engineer little Bulbasaurs as office pets for us to water -- we'd ask for Pikachu, but we're sure they'd be sold to small villages as power generators. Actually, good question, with almost 500 Pok&eacute;mon to choose from, which one would you want as a pet?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/03/19/spoiler-alert-all-of-the-new-pokemon-revealed/">DS Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/20/new-pokemon-revealed-gotta-catch-em-all-all-of-em/">New Pokémon revealed, gotta catch 'em all ...
