Show organizers are hoping to grow attendance of the three-day show to 100,000, making it easily one of the largest public gaming conventions in the world (behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/21/gamescom-2011-welcomes-275-000-attendees/">Gamescom</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/tokyo-game-show-2011-draws-largest-crowd-ever-as-show-floor-cont/">TGS</a>).<br /><br />PAX East will also make a sizable donation to digital games education. Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) will receive a $50,000 contribution this year, along with an annual $25,000, for a total of $325,000 over the next 11 years.<br /><br />"Over the last year, <a href="http://www.massdigi.org/">MassDiGI</a> has worked towards building a strong public-private partnership across industry, academia, and government in support of the state's digital games cluster," said Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray. "PAX East's commitment to bringing the largest East Coast video gaming convention to Boston and providing an annual donation to MassDiGI complements ongoing collaboration to increase economic activity within the state and foster knowledge-transfer between Massachusetts and the rest of the world."<br /><br />Beyond the academic cash, PAX East naturally brings in buckets of cash to the city through hotels and dining.<br /><br />"We're thrilled to host PAX East for at least 10 more years," said James E. Rooney, executive director of the MCCA. "Hosting an event for the next decade that draws gamers from around the globe to Boston is fantastic, but the international attention it brings to the incredible technological advancements coming out of the Commonwealth is a win-win."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/pax-east-commits-to-boston-until-2023/">PAX East commits to Boston until 2023</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 11:00:00 EST. Hey, PAX East? Sit down, we gotta talk. You know how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/pax-east-2011-attendance-69-500-officially-becomes-biggest-pax/">we made a big deal</a> about your 69,500 attendees earlier this year? Well, we don't want you to freak out, but your older brother PAX Prime has surpassed that figure, establishing <a href="http://www.neowin.net/news/pax-prime-2011-brings-in-70000-attendees">the record</a> for most attendees at a PAX.<br />
<br />
Look, don't be down, PAX East. We're a growing family with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/penny-arcade-expo-planning-on-branching-out-to-third-city/">a third kid on the way</a>, but there will be plenty of opportunity for you to prove yourself again. Chin up!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/pax-prime-attendance-grows-to-70-000/">PAX Prime attendance grows to 70,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Aug 2011 20:00:00 EST. Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik -- the pair of minds behind Penny Arcade, which is the comic behind the major gaming convention that's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">happening right now</a> -- have confirmed that PAX will soon find a home in a third location somewhere on the planet. "Yeah, there's going to be a third PAX," Krahulik explained in an interview with us earlier today. "Believe it," Holkins added. We do!<br />
<br />
The duo said they have a city in mind, but didn't divulge which one it is -- a shame, because there are a lot of cities to guess from. During last year's <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/30298/InDepth_Penny_Arcade_Creators_On_The_Future_Of_PAX_Game_Biz.php">PAX Press Q&amp;A</a>, they hinted that a third PAX might come together, perhaps in an overseas locale they'd like to visit. Any international readers have a hometown they'd like to see wholly and completely overrun by <em>gamingkind</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/penny-arcade-expo-planning-on-branching-out-to-third-city/">Penny Arcade Expo planning on branching out to third city</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Aug 2011 23:45:00 EST. <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/09/07/pax-prime-2010-brings-in-67-600-attendees/">67,600</a>. That's the number of nerds and gaming fans that rushed Seattle's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX Prime</a> show this year. It's easily the largest gaming event in the US open to the public, and it shows no sign of losing momentum. This year's show made headlines, too, with the surprise reveal of a fully playable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/duke-nukem-forever-preview/"><em>Duke Nukem Forever</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Speaking with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/30298/InDepth_Penny_Arcade_Creators_On_The_Future_Of_PAX_Game_Biz.php">Gamasutra</a>, the Penny Arcade duo noted that the establishment of PAX not only serves gamers, but publishers as well. "[Publishers] need a place like PAX to promote [their products]," the team said. This year's show gave fans (and journalists!) an additional opportunity to check out games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/07/epic-mickey-preview-small-mouse-big-decisions/"><em>Epic Mickey</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/swarm-preview-strength-in-numbers/"><em>Swarm</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/outland-preview-when-shmups-grow-legs/"><em>Outland</em></a> before release. PAX's timing, the Penny Arcade duo argue, allow for games to be spread more evenly throughout the year. "Before, if a game didn't make its Christmas launch it was a nightmare. This year was much more distributed as far as big releases."<br />
<br />
Penny Arcade Expo will return to Boston next year for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/31/inaugural-pax-east-has-52-290-attendees-returns-to-boston-next/">PAX East 2011</a>, which will undoubtedly also turn up big numbers. But, PAX may have its eyes set on an international show. "A third PAX would likely take place in a different country," the Gamasutra report states. "Preferably somewhere the duo want to visit." PAX South Africa, perhaps? Cause we've got that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/editor/ludwig-Kietzmann">covered</a>!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/08/pax-prime-2010-had-over-67k-attendees-international-show-teased/">PAX Prime 2010 had over 67k attendees; international show teased</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Sep 2010 20:00:00 EST. With the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/28/joystiq-vs-pax-east-2010-day-two/">BBMT-fueled madness</a> of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-east-2010">PAX East 2010</a> still fresh in our minds (and bodies), it's already time to pre-register for PAX Prime in Seattle. The <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/index.php">official PAX website</a> is already counting down to the event, which will take place from Friday September 3 through Sunday, September 5. Single day badges are available at $35 each, while a three day pass runs $55. The PAX site notes that prices are slightly higher this year thanks to the Seattle public event tax. Also, remember that the prices above are for pre-registration only. All prices will go up by $5 come September 3.<br />
<br />
We'd suggest <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/registration.php">grabbing your tickets</a> now before the event inevitably sells out. After all, you don't want to miss magical moments like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/29/pax-east-ken-levine-and-the-hug-that-taught-the-world-to-love/">this</a>, do you?<br />

It appears the East Coast has an annual gaming mega-convention to call its own, as the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-east">Penny Arcade Expo East</a> officially locks into Boston for two years. The wildly successful inaugural year had an estimated 60,000 attendees (twice the number originally planned for), which has led organizers to move the show from the Hynes Convention Center to the much larger Boston Convention &amp; Exhibition Center for 2011 and 2012. Although the extra space will be welcomed by publishers and attendees, the other convention center is inconveniently located (especially by Boston standards) down by the harbor. While the Hynes, which is located downtown by Copley, may have been a little cramped, it's surrounded by shops and restaurants for meetups.<br />
<br />
Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik told Joystiq, "We had assumed we would be in [the Hynes] for what? Three years, I think? That was our initial idea. And already this will be our only year here. We have to move it next year."<br />
<br />
It'll be interesting to see how publishers treat PAX East in 2011. With no other major show in the first half of the year except for the Game Developers Conference, which attendees have complained for years has lost its way by having a larger media presence, PAX East could be the new place to make announcements. Especially if this year-round major game release calendar <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/12/video-game-release-date-calendar-q1-q2-2010/">we've seen in 2010</a> becomes permanent.<br />
<br />
Penny Arcade's Jerry Holkins spoke about PAX East's place in the industry and the recent occurrence of major releases outside the fourth quarter saying, "I think the problem is [publishers] never had a place to promote those releases, and if they're given a place to promote those releases - this is what [Penny Arcade's business guru] Robert [Khoo] has heard when he talks to the people he talks to to get the show going - they need a place that can attract you and can attract the people who play games ... enthusiasts in general, not industry observers."<br />

<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-east">PAX East</a> organizers have posted the <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/schedule.php">panel schedule</a> for the <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/registration.php">practically sold-out</a> inaugural edition of the Boston event. The sessions cover the gamut of game culture, including ... well, <em>the gamut of game culture</em>. Development, PR, marketing, journalism, studio culture, machinima, online etiquette -- it's all in there.<br />
<br />
Faithful followers of Joystiq will likely want to check out <em>Get Ready For Love: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/joystiq-podcast">The Joystiq Podcast</a> LIVE!</em> at the Manticore Theatre on Saturday at 8:30pm. All your favorite podcast hosts (and several less-liked Joystiq editors) will be in attendance, including the African -- who will ride in on a cheetah (unconfirmed, as of this writing). Then, on Sunday, our very own Editor-in-Chief Chris Grant will participate in the <em>Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Game Journalism</em> panel at 2:30pm and moderate <em>Sequelitis Snake Oil: Quack Medicine for the Video Game Industry</em> around 4pm -- some guy by the name of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ken-levine">Ken Levine</a> will also be part of that one. Other guests include Obsidian's Chris Avellone, Harmonix's Dan Teasdale, and Giant Bomb's Jeff Gerstmann. Has your head exploded yet? Just wait ...<br />
<br />
Not listed on the schedule is the super-secret First Annual Joystiq Blueberry Muffin Tops Breakfast (<a href="http://twitter.com/joystiqbbmt">@JoystiqBBMT</a>), which will occur Saturday morning. Space is limited, so be sure to prepare by checking out "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/announcing-the-first-annual-joystiq-blueberry-muffin-tops-breakf/">the plan</a>." We're also happy to announce that ... oh, not yet? Before the live Joystiq podcast recording, before the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/announcing-the-first-annual-joystiq-blueberry-muffin-tops-breakf/">Blueberry Muffin Tops Breakfast</a>, and before ... you know, all the news, the festivities of PAX East have to be kicked off with proper keynote address. Appropriately enough, the first-ever east coast iteration of the con <a href="http://www.bluesnews.com/a/1576/gamer-geek-icon-wil-wheaton-to-keynote-pax-east-in-march-in-boston">will be introduced</a> by the man who led the opening ceremonies of PAX 2007 -- child star, adult star, writer and <a href="http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4pod/20090218">world-renowned D&amp;D cognoscenti</a>, <a href="http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/">Wil Wheaton</a>.<br />
<br />
If you're curious about what to expect from Wheaton's speech during the <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/registration.php">almost-sold-out expo</a>, we suggest checking out <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwN76P4B6Ts">his speech from three years ago</a>. We imagine it will be in a similar style as that, only ... <em>beardier</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/09/wil-wheaton-to-deliver-inaugural-keynote-at-pax-east/">Wil Wheaton to deliver inaugural keynote at PAX East</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Feb 2010 19:00:00 EST. Between the <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com">thrice-weekly comic</a>, the <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/">quad-monthly PATV episodes</a> and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/penny-arcade-expo">bi-yearly conventions</a>, we find ourselves pretty saturated in Penny Arcade's artistic outings. Still, there are a few places in our lives where we could use some more of Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins' irreverent brand of jest -- like, for instance, our coffee table.<br />
<br />
That gap will soon be filled by the duo's new book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Splendid-Magic-Penny-Arcade-Anniversary/dp/034551226X"><em>The Splendid Magic of Penny Arcade: The 11&amp;frac12; Anniversary Edition</em></a> -- a tome which covers the history of the comic, the Penny Arcade Expo and the annual Child's Play charity. The book is due out February 23 -- at which point its creators will kick off a national book tour. Check past the jump to see if they're making a stop in your town!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/06/penny-arcade-crew-kicking-off-new-book-tour-february-23/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Penny Arcade crew kicking off new book tour February 23</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/06/penny-arcade-crew-kicking-off-new-book-tour-february-23/">Penny Arcade crew kicking off new book tour February 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Feb 2010 12:30:00 EST. Following up on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/22/psa-pax-east-warns-itll-sell-out-get-badges-now/">warning that PAX East will sell out</a>, Joystiq has learned that the inaugural East Coast edition of the show will have over 60,000 attendees. Robert Khoo, President of Operations and Biz Dev for Penny Arcade Inc., tells us that they can't release final figures until the show is over, but are "looking at more attendees than the last PAX in Seattle." PAX 2009 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/pax-2009-sells-out-er-is-sold-out/">sold out</a> and had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/12/pax-attendance-rises-by-2k-60-750-people-geek-out/">60,750 participants</a>.<br />
<br />
PAX East organizers plan to make an announcement this week that the show has fewer than 1,000 3-day badges remaining. At this point, PAX East has no announced speakers, music guests nor sponsors. It seems like everyone is buying into an expectation that the show will deliver an experience similar to PAX West -- and you don't want to disappoint an audience <em>this</em> huge.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/01/over-60-000-pax-east-attendees-expected-around-1-000-tickets-re/">Over 60,000 PAX East attendees expected, around 1,000 tickets remaining</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Feb 2010 09:05:00 EST. Attention East Coasters:<br />
The chaps at Penny Arcade have miscalculated the size and scale of the first-annual <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PAX-East/">PAX East</a> event and have announced a need for more volunteers -- aka "Enforcers." While the name would suggest selected individuals would be granted the ability to bust skulls with full immunity, "Enforcers" are tasked with helping the event run as smoothly as possible (while wearing the same shirt for three days).<br />
<br />
Also, for those interested in attending the event -- and let's face it, you are -- early registration ends on December 31, 2009. So, if you're keen on saving money and know that a Boston trip in March 2010 is in your future, make sure to <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/registration.php">get your paperwork in</a> before the clock strikes midnight.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/30/psa-pax-east-early-bird-special-ends-tomorrow-need-more-enfor/">PSA: PAX East early bird special ends tomorrow, need more 'enforcers'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Dec 2009 22:00:00 EST. The team behind the Penny Arcade Expo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-east-coming-late-march-2010-venue-revealed/">journey to Boston</a> has announced an open call for panel and speaker submissions that will run until January 11, 2010. In order to qualify for an open panel or speaker slot, submissions need to both entertain and inform. "We're looking for the kind of presentations that invoke intense reactions and discussion in the community," said Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo.<br />
<br />
Have a crazy or interesting idea of something you'd like to see at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PAX-East/">PAX East</a>? Submit it. With plans to fill the event with up to 90 hours of content, there's plenty of room for submissions (provided they don't <em>stink</em>). PAX East is setting up shop in Boston, Massachusetts, from March 26 to 28, 2010. Make sure to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/early-bird-special-on-pax-east-tickets/">register</a> if you plan to join the party.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/pax-east-open-for-panel-speaker-submissions/">PAX East open for panel, speaker submissions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 00:00:00 EST. Although registration has been open <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/04/pax-east-registration-is-open-only-356-days-to-go-until-show/#comments">since April</a>, it appears that PAX East tickets are now discounted until the end of the year. The day pass currently costs $25, while the three-day pass is $45, which is a $5 savings off the previous pre-purchase price -- and a $10 cut off the door prices.<br /><br />It appears that <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/hotels.php">hotel information</a> is also up on the PAX East site. Although several of those hotels are definitely within tolerable "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-east-coming-late-march-2010-venue-revealed/">Boston in late-March walking distance</a>," the Holiday Inn in Brookline, which appears to be the best value on the list, is a straight shot on the C line to the convention center.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5385704/pax-east-tickets-go-on-sale">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/early-bird-special-on-pax-east-tickets/">Early bird special on PAX East tickets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 02:00:00 EST. After the recent announcement by the folks at Penny Arcade that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/pax-2009-sells-out-er-is-sold-out/">PAX 2009 sold out</a> the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, today they officially released attendance numbers for this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2009">Penny Arcade Expo</a>. Speaking with <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/09/12/exclusive-pax-2009-brings-in-60-750-attendees/">Big Download</a>, PA's Robert Khoo said 60,750 people packed into the convention center -- though he had earlier predicted "roughly 75,000" -- and that the show's organizers are looking into expansion plans for next year to accommodate more showgoers.<br />
<br />
We'd say with the unveiling of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-east">PAX East</a>, some people may very well have stayed home in anticipation of a shorter travel distance early next year over this year's Washington-based soiree. This might help explain the relatively small attendance growth from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/01/pax-2008-population-58-500/">2008's 58,500 people</a> to this 2009's numbers. However, Khoo said he's surprised how many people plan on attending both PAX East and next year's PAX, umm, <em>West</em>. We'll see you a year from now, Khoo -- with facts!<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/12/pax-attendance-rises-by-2k-60-750-people-geek-out/">PAX attendance rises by 2k, 60,750 people geek out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Sep 2009 15:00:00 EST. If you're in attendance at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PAX-2009/">PAX 2009</a>, make sure to head over to Microsoft's special Xbox table on the 4th floor of the North lobby and grab a redemption code for a free <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/09/04/headed-to-pax-be-sure-to-get-your-free-avatar-t-shirt.aspx">Xbox Avatar PAX shirt</a>. Supplies are limited, but Microsoft will be handing out codes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Pacific) on Saturday, in case you missed today's giveaway rounds. Sure, it isn't as awesome as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/03/penny-arcade-gear-available-for-your-360-avatar/">proclaiming your D&amp;D skills</a> ... but it's a great way to make your online friends jealous that you made it to the sold-out Seattle event.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/04/pax-attendees-can-grab-free-avatar-shirt-angelic-glow-sold-sepa/">PAX attendees can grab free Avatar shirt, angelic glow sold separately</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Sep 2009 21:30:00 EST. At last, the terror-inducing gauntlet of games that participants in this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/omegathon">Omegathon</a> must navigate has been revealed by a recent press release. Listed below are the six rounds that will serve as the unforgiving battlegrounds for twenty contestants (who are named after the break) -- we can't <em>wait</em> to see how tournament-style <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bookworm-adventures"><em>Bookworm Adventures</em></a> will play out. <br /><br />Blood will be shed, boys will become men, girls will likewise become women -- and only one will triumph with tickets to this year's Tokyo Game Show (and $5,000 in walkin' around money) clutched in their victorious paw.<br />

    <li>Round 1: <em>Mario Kart Wii</em></li>
    <li>Round 2: <em>Bookworm Adventures</em></li>

With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2009">PAX 2009</a> just under two months away, the folks organizing the Penny Arcade Expo have begun gearing up for the show. How do we know, you ask? Simple: The PAX 10 was announced today, featuring a list of games we'd sorta/kinda heard of before. <br /><br />Since we're <em>so cool</em> and totally knew about all these games before anyone else did (yeah right), we're a bit nonplussed by this year's PAX 10 winners. Hell, we even have <em>Fieldrunners</em> running on our giant, collective iPhone right now. Seriously! Okay, fine, we only knew that one ...<br />

<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-2009">PAX</a> is set to begin September 4 in Seattle, and today the organizers revealed some of the <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/">first details</a> of what revelers can expect at the geek-a-palooza. The event is expecting over 60 exhibitors, including Microsoft, Nintendo, Valve, Blizzard and many others. Sony isn't currently listed and we've contacted the publisher to ask if it plans on attending.<br /><br />The nerd herding event will also feature performances by Freezepop, Jonathan Coulton (sing "Brookline!"), MC Frontalot, Anamanaguchi, Metroid Metal and Paul &amp; Storm. <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/registration.php">Registration</a> is already open, with a three-day pass costing $50. Remember, this is one the few events where having the best-looking velvet dice bag makes you cool ... don't be the guy that shows up with dice in a Ziploc bag.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/23/first-pax-09-details-revealed/">First PAX '09 details revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Apr 2009 15:15:00 EST. With a little under a year to go, PAX East <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/registration.php">registration is now open</a>. Taking place March 26-28 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, a three-day pass will cost $50, while individual day passes are $30 -- add $5 if you're planning on picking up your tickets the day of the show. So far, no exhibitors, participating hotels or schedule of events are posted. Take it from a Bostonian, you can stay in any hotel near a T stop (we should probably do a post detailing this) and make it to the convention center in under an hour. <br /><br />If you're planning on going to GDC, don't worry, that show takes place March 9-13 in San Francisco. It'll certainly be interesting to see how game marketing and PR treat this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-east-coming-late-march-2010-venue-revealed/">new high-profile East Coast gaming convention</a>. Team Joystiq will be there in full force ... considering a third of our staff is within driving range.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5197111/register-extremely-early-for-pax-east">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/04/pax-east-registration-is-open-only-356-days-to-go-until-show/">PAX East registration is open ... only 356 days to go until show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Apr 2009 01:00:00 EST. Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, founders of <a href="http://penny-arcade.com/">Penny Arcade</a>, are legendary folk heroes to much of the gaming community. For ten years, they've served as unparalleled industry commentators, strong vocabulary enthusiasts, and proponents of <a href="http://pennyarcade.wikia.com/wiki/Fruit_Fucker_2000">citrus-assaulting robots</a>. However, these virtues recently took a backseat to their more charitable contributions to society when Penny Arcade was discussed on the floor of the Washington State senate, where legislators <a href="http://blog.senatedemocrats.wa.gov/the-hopper/wa-state-senate-resolution-honors-penny-arcade/">adopted a resolution honoring the two men for their philanthropic exploits</a>.<br /><br />Senate Resoultion 8640 ennumerates the achievements of Holkins and Krahulik, such as their successful webcomic reaching its 10th anniversary, the launching of the Penny Arcade Expo, and the $4.5 million raised for improving the lives of hospitalized kids with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Child%27s%20Play">Child's Play</a>. While we're sure they would have preferred a law being passed in their name which <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/04/14/">mandates the death penalty</a> for people who drop out of online games when they start losing, it's still a pretty cool gesture.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=354393">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/penny-arcade-creators-honored-by-washington-state-senate/">Penny Arcade creators honored by Washington State senate</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Mar 2009 17:50:00 EST. Last week during PAX 2008, we sat down with Hothead COO and <em>Penny Arcade Adventures</em> Producer Joel DeYoung as he guided us through <em>Episode 2 </em>and improvements to the engine. The gist of it is: if you liked <em>Episode 1</em>, you'll like <em>Episode 2</em> that much more. Here's the rundown from our talks:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Highlighting points of interest has been made easier! "If you have your proximity putting you close enough to 2 or 3 things, you can slide through that with bumpers," said DeYoung.<br /> </li>
    <li>There are now difficulty levels, including an Insane Mode (unlockable only after beating the game). Special collectibles and pickups are only available if you play Insane Mode. Comparatively, <em>Episode 1</em>'s difficulty is "a little easier" than medium.</li>
    <li>All the weapons have been replaced. Tycho gets a shotgun, Gabe has new fist upgrades and your player now possesses -- wait for it -- a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoe_(tool)">hoe</a>! Also changed are the special attack minigames. <br /></li>
    <li>You now have, among other new items, a revive potion. Healing won't be enough to bring your troops back to life. "Just adds a little bit of depth to it," said DeYoung.</li>
    <li>The real-time reaction for defense has been made more obvious (e.g. "Block!" now appears when you need to push block), but nothing analogous for attacking has been added.</li>
</ul>
More after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/">Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/#1012165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/screenshot_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/#1012166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/screenshot_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/#1012167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/screenshot_6-xbla_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/#1012168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/screenshot_3-xbla_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-2/#1012169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/screenshot_4-xbla_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/pax-2008-penny-arcade-adventures-producer-gushes-about-episode/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: Penny Arcade Adventures producer gushes about Episode 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/pax-2008-penny-arcade-adventures-producer-gushes-about-episode/">PAX 2008: Penny Arcade Adventures producer gushes about Episode 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Sep 2008 10:30:00 EST. Your guess is as good as ours.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/">PAX 2008: The Fallout 3 Airstream Trailer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/#1008873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0615f3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/#1008874"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0676f3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/#1008875"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0622f3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/#1008876"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0624f3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-the-fallout-3-airstream-trailer/#1008877"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0681f3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/pax-2008-one-hour-with-the-full-version-of-fallout-3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: One hour with full version of Fallout 3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/pax-2008-one-hour-with-the-full-version-of-fallout-3/">PAX 2008: One hour with full version of Fallout 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Sep 2008 10:00:00 EST. While adventuring to PAX 2008, the team at Big Download recorded three special edition episodes. While the audio quality in the first was laughably bad, the episode is a hilarious look into the minds of tired <em>Warhammer Online</em> developers, <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/08/30/bigcast-pax08-special-warhammer-online/">Paul Barnett, Jeff Hickman and Josh Drescher</a>. Give it a listen, if you can! In the second special edition, <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/08/31/bigcast-pax08-special-featuring-robin-yang/">GameDaily's Robin Yang</a> joined the team to discuss everyone's favorite titles at the show. In the final installment of the special series, former 1UP editorial director and co-founder of WhatTheyPlay.com, <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/08/31/bigcast-pax08-special-featuring-john-davison/">John Davison, went into some detail on the sex and violence in games debate</a>. Check out the episodes if you get a chance -- we assure you the first audio hiccup was corrected in episodes two and three.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/bigcast-special-edition-recap/">BigCast Special Edition Recap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 22:00:00 EST. The last panel at PAX 2008 was the highly anticipated discussion on Sex and Violence in Videogames between former Nintendo executive Perrin Kaplin, <span style="font-style: italic;">Grand Theft Childhood</span> co-author Dr. Cheryl K. Olson and What They Like Inc., president John Davison. Moderated by Newsweek tech writer N'Gai Croal, the trio attempted to dissect the mainstream media misnomer that "videogames are toys" with both informative and hilarious results.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/pax-2008-sex-and-violence-in-videogames-panel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: Sex and Violence in Videogames Panel</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/pax-2008-sex-and-violence-in-videogames-panel/">PAX 2008: Sex and Violence in Videogames Panel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 03:30:00 EST. The show is over and the numbers are in. Said Penny Arcade business guru Robert Khoo to <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/09/01/penny-arcade-expo-2008-58-500-attendees/">BigDownload</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2008">this year's PAX</a> recorded 58,500 people in three days, placing it near the echelon of "Old E3." Previous <em>guesstimations</em> put the attendance at 45,000 to 50,000, which still would have eclipsed the PAX 2007 population of 37,000.<br /><br />So, what's to be done for PAX 2009? More expansion, of course, to ease overcrowding. "At 2 or 3 of the main theatre events 3-4% of the line wasn't able to make it," said Khoo, "but we hear those 3-4% loud and clear. We have a few ideas to manage that problem for 2009 including wristbands for popular events or just a straight-up hard count of people in line. The worst thing is if people line up for something and end up not getting in." The next PAX will take place again in late August, with the first PAX East Coast opening its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-east-coming-late-march-2010-venue-revealed/">Bostonian doors in late March 2010</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/01/pax-2008-population-58-500/">PAX 2008: Population 58,500</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Sep 2008 21:30:00 EST. Really, PAX Family Feud (or should we say Family <em>Freud</em>?) could best be described with three adjectives: entertaining; intense; and overly sexual. As attendees clapped to the Feud's theme song music, both teams (sans <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/29/wanted-a-pax-attendee-really-good-at-video-game-trivia/">Joystiq readers</a>, for shame!) answered questions ranging from, "Name a power-up used by Mario," (yay for fire flower!) to "What's your favorite Penny Arcade character?" Fruit "lover" got our vote. <br /><br />Everything was quite tame, albeit a bit verbally violent as the show's host received constant heckling from the audience due to his sometimes ... questionable hosting abilities. But then things turned towards sex, sex, sex when Feud players were asked, "What do you do when the electricity goes out at home?" We thought it to be an innocent enough question, but then we remembered that PAX attendees answered the questions. As a result, things got interesting.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/01/pax-2008-family-feud-not-so-family-friendly/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: Family Feud not so family friendly</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/01/pax-2008-family-feud-not-so-family-friendly/">PAX 2008: Family Feud not so family friendly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Sep 2008 18:30:00 EST. We're continued to impressed by what we've seen here so far with the cosplayers, in both selection and execution. And don't forget, Darth Vader can <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-darth-vader-and-stormtroopers-rock-to-alanis/">rock a mean Alanis Morissette</a>. We've also mega-expanded our general <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/1008813/">PAX 2008 showfloor gallery</a> to show you every square foot of what you're missing.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/">PAX 2008: Cosplay (Full)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010625"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7529_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010624"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7520_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010623"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7519_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010622"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7518_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010621"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0701cos_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/">Penny Arcade Expo 2008</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/#1014148"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/fallout3posterboy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/#1008813"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/img_0078_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/#1008812"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/img_0054_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/#1008811"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/img_0097_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008/#1008810"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/img_0053_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-cosplay-day-two/">PAX 2008: Cosplay, day two</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 20:30:00 EST. Having just exercised our right to go broke at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-touring-the-pink-godzilla-booth/">Pink Godzilla</a> mini-store on this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2008">PAX 2008</a> showfloor, we were surprised and elated to turn around and see Darth Vader and a merry band of Stormtroopers taking the stage to play Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-2"><em>Rock Band 2</em></a>, with vocals being handled by some unknown non-cosplayer. The Rooster Teeth gang had a rather interesting reveal at this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2008/">PAX 2008</a> ... an anime of <span style="font-style: italic;">Red v. Blue</span>. Yes, the known machinima has crossed the threshold into Japanese animation. Of course, the voicing and ad lib comedy that's made them famous is still intact. Check out the shaky came footage after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-rooster-teeth-show-off-red-v-blue-anime/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: Rooster Teeth show off Red v. <li>A "Still Alive" duet with <em>Dr. Horrible's</em> Felicia Day</li>
    <li>A more subdued, romantic "Code Monkey"</li>

Last night we attended the first PAX 2008 concert, featuring The OneUps, Freezepop, and Jonathan Coulton headlining. There are a multitude of great moments (highlight reel to come later this weekend), but one thing that stuck out was Coulton's performance of "Flickr" and special song "Not This One," both songs featuring video accompaniment aided by sound guy <strike>Bart</strike> Brad. Check out the live performance, embedded above.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-music-video-jonathon-coultons-flickr-and-not-this/">PAX 2008 Music Video: Jonathon Coulton's 'Flickr' and 'Not This One'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 10:00:00 EST. Despite what you may think from the picture, it wasn't the tower of pink plushies that attracted us to the Pink Godzilla store booth. More so, it was that they have mint condition classic games (including the <em>Earthbound</em> and <em>Chrono Trigger</em>) and consoles like the 2nd Anniversary Xbox One from Japan. We're willing to bet that entire wall of games will be sold out by Sunday.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/">PAX 2008: Pink Godzilla Tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/#1009111"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7451_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/#1009110"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7454_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/#1009109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7445_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/#1009108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7453_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-pink-godzilla-tour/#1009107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7460_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/">PAX 2008: Cosplay (Full)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010625"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7529_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010624"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7520_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010623"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7519_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010622"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7518_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010621"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0701cos_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/pax-2008-touring-the-pink-godzilla-booth/">PAX 2008: Touring the Pink Godzilla booth</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 09:00:00 EST. While discussion on <em>Warhammer Online </em>is conspicuously lacking, Mythic Entertainment designer Paul Barnett and producers Jeff Hickman and Josh Drescher managed to to venture into some strange, hilarious and very <strong>NSFW</strong> territory on BigDownload's BigCast PAX special. Listen to the podcast (again, it's NSFW) <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/08/30/bigcast-pax08-special-warhammer-online/">here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/bigcast-pax-special-goes-crazy-with-warhammer-online-devs/">BigCast PAX special goes crazy with Warhammer Online devs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 08:00:00 EST.
