The localized title, <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity</em>, removes the Japanese title's reference to "Magnagates" presumably because that word is really hard to read.<br /><br />Magnagates still figure into the game design, however, allowing players to scan any real-world circular shape with the 3DS camera, turning the image of that object into a gate through which new, randomly-generated dungeons can be accessed.<br /><br />Like other recent releases, Gates to Infinity will be released both as a cartridge and on the eShop.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/20/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-opens-gates-to-infinity-on-3ds-in-marc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon opens 'Gates to Infinity' on 3DS in March</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/20/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-opens-gates-to-infinity-on-3ds-in-marc/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon opens 'Gates to Infinity' on 3DS in March</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2012 09:30:00 EST. Of course that's not surprising given the new hardware, nor is the inclusion of some recent Pok&eacute;mon. But taking photos of cups, globes, and lamps to open up in-game portals? Yes, that one is still surprising. Apparently anything round does the trick for the 3DS camera - so much for our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/13/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-3ds-comes-to-japan-this-winter/">Pikachu slippers</a> idea.<br /><br /><em>Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth</em>, to give the game its full translated title, comes to Japan later this year. There's no word yet on a Western release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/17/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-3ds-makes-portals-out-of-globes/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS makes portals out of globes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Sep 2012 08:00:00 EST. Pikachu and pals go exploring again in <em>Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth </em>, coming to Japan later this year. As <a href="http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml">Serebii</a> reports, the game uses the system's 3D and augmented reality functions.<br /><br />It's the augmented reality features that sound the most interesting. Using the 3DS' camera, players scan real-life objects to unlock portals, or 'magnagates', and these portals take you to dungeons in the game. What you should scan and why remains unclear, but we're definitely going to try our <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Pok%C3%A9mon-Pokemon-Pikachu-Slipper-Plush/dp/B001ALZHOM">Pikachu slippers</a> (yes we actually own a pair).<br /><br />There's no word on any Western release date, but previous Mystery Dungeon games came to our shores between six months and a year after being released in Japan.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/13/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-3ds-comes-to-japan-this-winter/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS comes to Japan this winter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Sep 2012 16:30:00 EST. Two more demos have been added in Japan: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-for-wiiware-first-trailer-and-details/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Aim! Light Adventure Team</a> </em>and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/phoenix-wright"><em>Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney</em></a>.<br />
<br />
A demo for <em>Phoenix Wright</em> is a <em>great</em> idea -- some people just need to try the game before they realize how much fun they could have arguing murder cases. But <em>Mystery Dungeon?</em> There's already a demo for one of the three WiiWare <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em> games. Does the other one play differently enough to require a different sample? <br />

Like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/nintendoware-weekly-thorium-wars-and-a-word-about-final-fantasy/">this week's NintendoWare Weekly update</a>, this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-channel">Nintendo Channel</a> goodies are a bit on the light side. It's also, sadly, a feat that probably won't be repeated, given the recent decline in selection. But let's not talk about <em>declines</em> when we've got such an incredible <em>increase</em> this month! Four games on Virtual Console -- and good ones, too, like <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> and <em>Pac-Mania</em>, would be remarkable enough, but they are joined by no fewer than <em>nine</em> on WiiWare.<br /><br />The WiiWare selection includes genuinely interesting content like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/review-bit-trip-core-wiiware/"><em>Bit.Trip: CORE</em></a>, the one-button <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/konami-brings-sand-salary-men-to-wiiware-in-japan/"><em>Tomenasanner Wii</em></a> (seen above), and the three <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon-mystery-dungeon"><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em></a> games; plus genuinely <span style="font-style: italic;">forgettable</span> content like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/wii-fanboy-review-sandy-beach/"><em>Sandy Beach</em></a>, and wild cards like dolphin-training game <em>Sea Farm</em>, <em>Derby Dog</em>, which is, yes, a game about racing different varieties of dog, and a brain training game with its most notable feature being that its title translates to "Make your Square Brain Round."<br /><br />The complete release listings are posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/vc-wiiware-tuesday-an-impossibly-large-update/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VC/WiiWare Tuesday: An impossibly large update</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/vc-wiiware-tuesday-an-impossibly-large-update/">VC/WiiWare Tuesday: An impossibly large update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 11:20:00 EST. Fifty people who buy at least <em>two</em> of the three WiiWare roguelikes will get this pop-up book thing, which is, honestly, not that exciting of a pop-up. It's basically a paper dome. Two hundred people who purchase just <em>one</em> of the games will randomly be drawn to win a Wiimote/DS strap featuring artwork from the game they purchased.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Nintendo of America has indicated no plans to release the games, and it <em>won't</em> indicate any such plans until they magically appear on the Wii Shop. Don't expect any promotions like this, or, really, any <em>promotion</em> at all.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/downloadable-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-games-get-physical-club-nin/">Downloadable Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games get physical Club Nintendo items</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Jul 2009 16:40:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/rumor-mcdonalds-reveals-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-on-wiiware/">WiiWare <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em> games</a>, first revealed in a McDonalds-distribted flyer, are real, and are headed for Japan on August 4. Players will be able to share save data throughout all three games, so they can level up a persistent team.<br /><br />The three games (<em>Advance! Fire Adventure Team, Go! Storm Adventure Team, </em>and <em>Aim! Light Adventure Team!)</em> each feature a different set of starting Pokemans. And in this game, your team can cooperate even more than in other <em>Pokemon</em> games, by piling up and attacking enemies simultaneously. The WiiWare game also features the "rescue" ability found in recent <em>Shiren the Wanderer </em>games, in which friends can revive your team over the Wi-Fi Connection.<span><br /><br />After the break, we've embedded a trailer that details these features -- and shows off the adorable little Pokemon.<br /><br />[Thanks, </span>Alilatias]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-for-wiiware-first-trailer-and-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon for WiiWare: first trailer and details</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-for-wiiware-first-trailer-and-details/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon for WiiWare: first trailer and details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 17:00:00 EST. It's the <em>Mystery Dungeon</em> equivalent of <em>Pok&eacute;mon Platinum</em>, basically -- same game, with a few new Pokemans and new quests. Thanks to the Pokemaniacs at serebii.net who immediately got to translatin', we can <em>all</em> read about the added content.<br /><br />The critters featured in <em>Platinum</em> will show up in <em>Explorers of the Sky</em>, including Shaymin and the new, wormy Origin Forme of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/11/pokemon-platinum-pre-order-gives-trainers-limited-giratina-origi/">Giratina</a>. At least two new sidequests will be available, which help fill in the game's story. "Genius Igglybuff" stars the leader of the Wigglytuff Guild (in his past as an Igglybuff, and <em>man</em> is this getting weird to write) on an adventure with a Smoochum, a Wooper, and a Budew; "In the Dark Future" follows the game's ending, which means that we probably shouldn't talk too much about it, in the interest of keeping spoilers locked safely away in a Pok&eacute;ball.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://serebii.net/index2.shtml">Serebii</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/16/the-few-new-features-in-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-explorers-of-th/">The few new features in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Feb 2009 09:00:00 EST. This was as inevitable as the game itself <em>existing</em>, but hey, you know you'll still be buying it once the localized version is announced. And at least now we get a less blurry look at some of the new starter monsters, such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pok-mon-mystery-dungeon-explorers-of-the-sky/1295153/">Riolu</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pok-mon-mystery-dungeon-explorers-of-the-sky/1295156/">Vulpix</a>. <br />The latest edition of <em>CoroCoro</em> is off the presses, and look: new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon">Pok&eacute;mans</a>!<br /><br />Okay, well maybe "new" is stretching it. The game you see above is <em>Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky</em>, a sequel to last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/ds-fanboy-review-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-2/">respectable</a> <em>Explorers of Time</em>/<em>Explorers of Darkness</em> duo. The screens in the scans posted by Gamekyo are <em>teensy</em>, so we're not sure you'll get much out of those, but there is confirmation on the five starter Pok&eacute;mon: Vulpix, Riolu, Eevee, Shinx, and Phanpy.<br /><br /><em>CoroCoro</em> states that Japan will get its hands on the Chunsoft-developed roguelike this spring. While we cross everything for a 2009 release in the west, hit up <a href="http://www.gamekyo.com/images0_4_29594.html">Gamekyo</a> for the full scans, including some cute Pok&eacute;mon art.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/pokemon-to-explore-the-sky-in-new-mystery-dungeon/">Pokemon to Explore the Sky in new Mystery Dungeon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 12:00:00 EST. Not all of us are up to the challenge of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/19/izuna-2-hands-on-with-an-unemployed-ninja/">brutal</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/metareview-mystery-dungeon-shiren-the-wanderer/">roguelike</a>, and that's okay. In fact, that's what roguelike-lights such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/shed-some-light-on-the-mystery-with-these-pokemon-mystery-dungeo/"><em>Pok</em><em>&eacute;</em><em>mon Mystery Dungeon</em></a> are for. Just because said games don't beat your spirit to a pulp, though, doesn't mean they're not enjoyable, especially for Pok<em>&eacute;</em>maniacs. <br /><br />Today's a good time to become an explorer of time or darkness, as both <em>Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time</em> and <em>Explorers of Darkness</em> are being offered as Amazon's deal of the day. Each one is currently on sale for $22.99, and will be until 12:00am PDT. Yet, if you're not familiar with the <em>Pok</em><em>&eacute;</em><em>mon Mystery Dungeon</em> series, you might want to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/ds-fanboy-review-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-2/">check out our review</a> of the game (well, <em>games</em>) first.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-explorers-of-sales/">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 14:45:00 EST. Pokemaniacs across the pond, take note: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/ds-fanboy-review-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-2/"><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness</em></a> are both headed your way. You'll be able to get your hands on the second installment in this spin-off franchise come July 4th. <br /><br />Sure, it's not the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/what-if-politics-were-more-like-pokemon/">traditional <em>Pokemon</em></a> you all know and love, but we're sure plenty of you are exicted. Gamers, this is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/ds-releases-for-the-week-of-april-21st/">a good week for picking up something new</a>. Not only are the pair of competent <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon </em>sequels available, Square Enix's <em>The World Ends with You </em>is also on tap, ready for your consumption. And that's just here in North America!<br /><br />So, let's get to it. What are you picking up? Were you thinking about getting <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2</em> (did you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/ds-fanboy-review-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-2/">read our review</a>?), or were you looking to Square Enix's title for some fun? Perhaps both? What are you playing this weekend?<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/wrup-the-world-ends-with-pokemon-edition/">WRUP: The World Ends with Pokemon edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Apr 2008 16:00:00 EST. <div align="left">When I received a box on my doorstep last week, I was honestly expecting <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mario-kart-wii">something else</a>. </em>But, that something else never came. Instead, I received a package that contained both <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time </span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness</span>. And while I would've been fine with just turning around and handing the games off to our readers, I knew that my responsibilities would not allow that. Oh no, I must review the games!<br />
<br />
And that's what I'm doing here. After a week of putting the duo of titles through their paces, I'm finally ready to weigh in on this latest pair of <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon</span> spin-off games. Having not played the first <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em>, I found it fairly weird that all of the Pokemon speak like, well ... like human beings. But that wasn't enough to stop me from getting into the game. What did I think of my time with this latest entry? The latest <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</span> games aren't too shabby!</div>

And all the films at the cineplex would be replaced with The Virgin Suicides, and the radio would be replaced by silence, for the mere playing of recorded music through electronic amplification makes it too commercial. The week would be peaceful, save for the Great Goth Kid Purging, a bloodless, but still teriffically weepy affair.</p>
<br />
<p>And the games? Well, the most impressive console release would be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Shin%20Megami%20Tensei%3A%20Persona%203%3A%20FES"><em>Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3: FES</em></a>, a souped-up version of the RPG released in August of last year. And on portable consoles? Why, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=The%20World%20Ends%20With%20You"><em>The World Ends With You</em></a>, sure to be an emo kid classic. Oh, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Pokemon%20Mystery%20Dungeon"><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em></a> would also be released too, for reasons Eyelinerus would prefer not to talk about.</p>
<br />

While a few stores are offering <em>Pokemon</em> related deals to celebrate the release of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/shed-some-light-on-the-mystery-with-these-pokemon-mystery-dungeo/"><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em></a> games, Circuit City has some of the better ones that we've seen.</div>
<br />
The best deal is <em>Pokemon Emerald</em> for the GBA, which the retailer is offering for $14.99. If you want something more modern, though, you could pick up either <em>Diamond</em> or <em>Pearl</em>, which are marked down to $24.99 for the week. Also, if your sights are set on one of the <em>Mystery Dungeon</em> games, purchasing one at Circuit City will net you a free <em>Pokemon</em> action figure. Unfortunately, we don't know what these figures look like, but since they're free with the purchase, we're not all that concerned.<br />
<br />
The best part is that these deals are offered online at <a href="http://circuitcity.com">CircuitCity.com</a>, too, so you don't have to actually leave the comfort of your own home and, you know, <em>socialize</em>.<br />

<br /> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/promotional-consideration/">Promotional Consideration</a> is a weekly feature about the Nintendo DS advertisements you usually flip past, change the channel on, or just tune out.<br /> <br /> In advance of this coming week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon-mystery-dungeon" style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2</a> releases, Nintendo has commissioned two commercials to herald the dungeon crawlers, one for each edition, <span style="font-style: italic;">Explorers of Time</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Explorers of Darkness</span>.<br /> <br /> Once again, this sequel adopts <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Chunsoft">Chunsoft's</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">Fushigi no Dungeon</span> (<span style="font-style: italic;">Mystery Dungeon</span>) design to allow gamers to play as a Pokemon. It's a solid set of titles, by most reports, but many genre veterans consider them inferior to games like <span style="font-style: italic;">The Nightmare of Druaga</span> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shiren-the-wanderer" style="font-style: italic;">Shiren the Wanderer</a>. <br /> <br /> Nevertheless, kids are crazy for the <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon</span> branding, and the original GBA/DS <span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</span> releases went on to sell over 5.5 million copies worldwide. And that's why we now have a major publisher supporting an extremely niche genre with two separate commercials.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/20/promotional-consideration-fushigi-no-commercials/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Promotional Consideration: Fushigi no Commercials</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/20/promotional-consideration-fushigi-no-commercials/">Promotional Consideration: Fushigi no Commercials</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Apr 2008 16:00:00 EST. Like, different kinds of Pokemon. And traversing various environments in the game.<br />

<br />
As excited as we always are when it comes to free stuff, we're ten times more thrilled with this excuse to reuse our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/04/2008s-biggest-blips-mystery-dungeon-shiren-the-wanderer/">Unsolved Dungeon Mysteries image</a>. What better way to introduce a paranomal Pok&eacute;mon preorder?<br />
<br />
To promote the April 20th release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon-mystery-dungeon/">Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time</a></em> and <em>Explorers of Darkness</em>, Nintendo is offering a free strategy book to anyone who reserves either edition of the roguelike. The <em>Explorer's Guide</em> will contain game tips, interviews, and an original manga from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Sugimori">Ken Sugimori</a>, likely similar to (if not the same as) <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokmon_Mystery_Dungeon:_Ginji's_Rescue_Team">Ginji's Rescue Team</a></em>.<br />
<br />
For the uninitiated, the <em>Pok&eacute;mon Mystery Dungeon</em> games, like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shiren-the-wanderer">Shiren the Wanderer</a></em>, are all entries in Chunsoft's <em>Fushigi no Dungeon</em> series. Catering to the license's audience, <em>Explorers</em> will be significantly less difficult and punishing than its peers. Having a strategy guide on hand should increase your survivability chances even more! If you're looking to ease yourself into the dungeon-crawl genre, this is the game you'll want to try out.<br />

At the outset of the game, players will chose which Pokemon best represents them, from an available roster of 16, and set out for adventure through "<span>a fantastic land untouched by humans."<br />
<br />
These new games will feature over 490 different Pokemon, and some very nice Wi-Fi functionality. Using Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connect, players can participate in "</span><span>wireless rescue operations" and send alerts to their friends via email or text message on their cell phone. Sounds like a blast to us!<br />
<br />
These games will be hitting retail shelves in North America on April 20th.<br />

Nintendo dumped a load of dates on us today - 148 to be exact. These dates (some specific, some general) correspond to 65 Wii and 83 DS titles that are scheduled to be released in the first half of 2008. While its obvious that many third-party publishers will continue to shovel their filth onto the systems this year, we've been able to excavate a decent collection of potential gems from an otherwise smoldering pile of manure:<br />
<ul>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Okami</span> (Wii) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/okami-wii-ports-for-duty-on-march-25/">dated March 25</a></li>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Fit </span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/wii-fit-us-release-scheduled-for-q2-2008/">scheduled for Q2</a></li>
    <li><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em> sequels scheduled for Q2</li>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Crosswords DS</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/ninja-gaiden-dragon-sword-unsheathed-on-march-25/">dated May 5</a></li>
    <li><em>Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/ninja-gaiden-dragon-sword-unsheathed-on-march-25/">dated March 25</a></li>
    <li><em>Professor Layton and the Curious Village </em>(DS) dated Feb. 10</li>
    <li><em>LEGO: Indiana Jones</em> (Wii/DS) scheduled for Spring</li>
    <li><em>Super Dodgeball Brawlers</em> (DS) scheduled for April</li>
    <li><em>Bangai-O Spirits</em> (DS) scheduled for Q2</li>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Rondo of Swords</span> (DS) scheduled for April and thus far unannounced by Atlus USA</li>
</ul>
[Note: we haven't listed titles with previously confirmed dates (e.g., <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Kart</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Advance Wars</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span>, etc.).]<br />
<br />
The full list of releases is posted after the break.<br />

We were just casually looking down the list, expecting familiar titles and release dates, and we almost spit out our Diet Cherry Coke when we saw previously-unknown release dates, and even a few new titles! For the safety of your computer, DS Fanboy recommends that you put down <span style="font-style: italic;">your </span>Diet Cherry Coke before proceeding.<br /><br />For the first time, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-2-commercial-inspires-us-to-confront-our/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</span> sequels</a> have been announced for U.S. release. <em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time </em>and <span style="font-style: italic;">Explorers of Darkness</span> are tentatively slated for a "Q2" release. More personally exciting is the revelation that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/bangai-o-charges-up-launches-massive-screenshot-attack/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Bangai-O Spirits</span></a> was picked up by D3 of America, also Q2. And by "personally exciting" we mean "OH YES AWESOME. <span style="font-style: italic;">AWESOME."</span><br /><br />Other surprises include Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/16/ubisoft-quickly-preparing-yoga-training/"><em>Quick Yoga Training</em></a> (April), Nintendo's <span style="font-style: italic;">Crosswords DS </span>(May 5th!), <span style="font-style: italic;">Rondo of Swords </span>(which <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">we</span> Eric surmised is Success Corp.'s <a href="http://www.success-corp.co.jp/software/ds/ituwari/index.html"><span style="font-style: italic;">Ituwari no Rondo</span></a>) and complete unknowns like <span style="font-style: italic;">Organize It </span>(May 8th).<br /><br />We've reproduced the whole list for you after the break, so you can freak out. Not only that, but the game took the sixteenth spot in today's <em>Famistu</em> chart. <br /><br />Also showing legs is <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Kart DS</span>, which sold 68,000 copies to take the number eight spot. While it's no surprise that <em>Mario Kart</em> does well week after week (after week), we didn't expect it to make the top ten. We're also happy to see some new DS blood enter the ring, with <span style="font-style: italic;">Rune Factory 2</span> selling 56,000 in its debut. <br /><br />The rise in sales from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/05/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-24-12-31/">the previous week</a> was most likely due to the New Years holiday, which is a popular shopping period in Japan. These numbers are almost certainly not sustainable, though, so we should see a big difference next week. Of course, we fully expect that the DS will end up on top, as always, with a smattering of its games in the top ten. <br /><br />Check after the break to see the numbers, with <em>NSMB</em> sales tacked on for good measure.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-31-1-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Another week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 12/31-1/6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-31-1-6/">Another week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 12/31-1/6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jan 2008 20:00:00 EST. While this was a drop from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/26/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-17-12-23/">the week before's incredible numbers</a>, it certainly isn't a bad showing for the three-year-old handheld.<br /><br />In terms of software, <span style="font-style: italic;">Final Fantasy IV</span> is continuing to sell well, meaning that more remakes in the series are sure to follow. The other Square-Enix remake on the charts, <span style="font-style: italic;">Dragon Quest IV</span>, managed to go platinum this week. <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Party DS</span>, meanwhile, was the only other DS game to make the top ten, as the <span style="font-style: italic;">Professor Layton</span> sequel slipped to the number eleven spot.<br /><br />To see the hardware and software sales numbers for the the week of 12/24, check after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/05/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-24-12-31/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Another week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 12/24-12/31</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/05/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-12-24-12-31/">Another week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 12/24-12/31</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 Jan 2008 17:00:00 EST.
