Let's face it, buying a game is just <em>too simple</em>. You don't want to just walk into any store and know that you'll get the same game you would get somewhere else. No, you <em>crave</em> complication. Sensing this innate need, Ubisoft has announced, via the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=21472235194&amp;share_id=107298825958210&amp;comments=1"><em>Prince of Persia</em> Facebook page</a>, that those who pre-order <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia-the-forgotten-sands"><em>Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands</em></a> from GameStop will receive an exclusive new game mode. The offer, incidentally, applies only to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, so PC and Wii gamers are out of luck.<br />
<br />
The bonus mode is entitled Forgotten Arena and tasks players with defeating "waves of relentless enemies" in classic survival mode style. There is no time limit, killed enemies will regenerate health and the number of enemies increases over time. The description also notes that players who can defeat 100 enemies "may have what it takes to become a real Prince of Persia," though it's unclear if doing so will unlock any actual rewards or any actual royalty.<br />

Which <em>Prince of Persia</em> game features "superb graphic detail and incredibly fluid animation" and "more thrills than a saber duel with a thousand sultans"? If you answered, "Ubisoft's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia-the-forgotten-sands">Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands</a></em>," you'd ... well, you'd probably be right. But that text first appeared on the SNES box of 1992's <em>Prince of Persia</em>, an enhanced port of Jordan Mechner's original vizier vanquish-'em-up.<br />
<br />
Nintendo announced at its San Francisco media event today that the SNES game will be included in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/16/first-suspiciously-nice-screens-of-wii-prince-of-persia-the-for/">Wii version</a> of <em>Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands</em>, which is slated for release on May 18. Earlier this month, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/17/rumor-the-forgotten-sands-may-include-prince-of-persia-classic/">rumors</a> suggested that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia-classic">Prince of Persia Classic</a></em> -- a direct remake of the original game, initially released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network -- would be included in <em>The Forgotten Sands</em>. Instead, Wii owners get <em>classic</em> <em>Prince of Persia</em> exclusively.<br />
<br />
Don't fret too much about the platforms, though. You're probably in for more thrills than a saber duel with a <em>thousand</em> sultans no matter what.<br />

Ubisoft has just announced a new <em>Prince of Persia</em> -- but it's not a sequel to 2008's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/23/branching-dialogue-r-i-p-death/">polarizing adventure</a> (if desired, add unhappy emoticons to sentence). Instead, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia-the-forgotten-sands">Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands</a></em> will continue the <em>Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time</em> <strike>trilogy</strike> series, complete with "many of the fan-favorite elements" and "new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand." Oh, and an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/29/impressions-prince-of-persia-the-sands-of-time-the-trailer/">accompanying film</a>!<br />
<br />
You can catch the game's premiere trailer on Spike TV's Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 8 p.m. EST. <em>Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands</em> is scheduled for release on "consoles and handhelds" in May 2010.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/prince-of-persia-the-forgotten-sands-to-continue-sands-of-time/">Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to continue 'Sands of Time' series</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 12:33:00 EST. <div align="left"><a href="http://stuff.tv/News/STUFF-EXCLUSIVE-Universal-and-Sony-unveil-PoP-entertainment-vending-machine/11140/">Stuff</a> is reporting that Sony and Universal have teamed up to create PoP "entertainment vending machines" to be distributed across the UK "in cinemas, gyms, universities and travel stations" this holiday season. In addition to selling PS3 titles, these babies will sell DVDs, Blu-ray movies, and direct music/movie downloads to your MP3, MP4 player, or an SD card. Check it out in action in a video <a href="http://stuff.tv/Video/Universal-Pop-exclusive-video/Vidcasts/">here</a>.<br /><br />Similar machines have been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/16/hmm-should-i-get-a-soda-or-a-psp/">spotted in the US for several years now</a>, but they seem to have been limited to mostly airports. Wow. <em>A sultan?</em> That's pretty dire.* <br /><br />What the headline so clumsily tries to convey is that Ubisoft's snazzy, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/prince-of-persia-classic-confirmed-for-xbla-this-week/">non-rotoscoped remake</a> of 1989's <em>Prince of Persia</em> will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/prince-of-persia-classic-coming-to-psn/">finally arrive</a> on the PlayStation Network this Thursday, October 23rd. Sporting modernized 3D graphics, new traps and the same perfectly-postured-princess-in-peril plot we've grown to love, <em>Prince of Persia Classic</em> is sure to awaken nostalgia while preparing you for the royal acrobat's next adventure -- unimaginatively dubbed <em>Prince of Persia</em>. With any luck, we'll be appending "classic" to it as well when it releases on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/18/prince-of-persia-dated-for-dec-2/">December 2nd</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/">Prince of Persia Classic (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271588"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271587"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271586"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271585"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271584"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><small>* And Farah-fetched. An article on the <a href="http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/news/articles/detail/item123345/PSN-explodes-with-greatness/">PlayStation Games &amp; Media News site</a> reveals that a PSN version of <em>Prince of Persia Classic</em> is on its way. The PSN version appears to be the same as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/prince-of-persia-classic-confirmed-for-xbla-this-week/">XBLA release from last year</a>, which saw a graphical and control upgrade to the original (and retro frustrating) <em>Prince of Persia</em> from 1989.<br /><br />There's currently no price announced for the title, but if we had to guess, it would be $10 like the XBLA version. We've contacted Ubisoft and asked about a release date.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/10/prince_of_persia_classic_confi.php">GameBytes</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/">Prince of Persia Classic (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271588"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271587"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271586"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271585"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-classic-xbla/#271584"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/prince-of-persia-classic-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/prince-of-persia-classic-coming-to-psn/">Prince of Persia Classic coming to PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 03:27:00 EST. <br />It's a double WiiWare update for Europe and Australia this week as the fresh-faced download service once again blots out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/virtual-console">new old</a> games. There is a pattern emerging here -- WiiWare one week, Virtual Console the next, and so forth -- but we're not yet sure if it's a deliberate trend or just a coincidence. Either way, it's pretty plain now that Virtual Console stuff is going to become less regular. Up for grabs this week:<br />

As promised, Ubisoft has unveiled a portable companion piece to this holiday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/29/ubidays-08-prince-of-persia-producer-on-sidekick-new-prince/">new-gen <em>Prince of Persia</em></a>, dubbing the pint-sized platformer "Prince of Persia: The Fallen King." Featuring an independent storyline and "unique stylus controls" (natch), <em>The Fallen King</em> sees the agile -- and now <em>adorable</em> -- acrobat foiling a mean ol' corruption that has encroached on every corner of the kingdom. Presumably, you'll also help some sort of king to get up.<br /><br />Joining the prince in his wall-running adventures is "mysterious new ally" and playable character, Magus. He'll (it'll?) apparently use magical powers to help you overcome all manner of devious traps and puzzles. With the aid of Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/ubisoft-looking-at-new-kids-opens-casablanca-campus/">Casablanca studio</a>, this little prince will join his big brother on shelves just in time for Holiday 2008.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/">Prince of Persia: The Fallen King (DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/#990662"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/pop-logo-ds_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/#990659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/popds_s_020_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/#990658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/popds_s_018_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/#990657"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/popds_s_019_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-ds/#990656"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/popds_s_017_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/ubisoft-unveils-prince-of-persia-the-fallen-king-for-ds/">Ubisoft unveils Prince of Persia: The Fallen King for DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jun 2008 16:25:00 EST. Hey, remember how that new cel-shaded <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia"><em>Prince of Persia</em></a> game features not only the Prince but a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/new-prince-of-perisa-screens-and-video/">new AI controlled partner named Elika</a>? Wouldn't it be cool if a second player could plug in a controller and play as her? We think it would be cool. If you think so too, then we have some potentially good news for you. <a href="http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/06/10/exclusive-prince-of-persia-interview-co-op-now-a-possibility/">Speaking to Videogaming247</a>, <em>Prince of Persia</em> community development manager Chris Easton has stated, "There are no plans for co-op as of now, but we may explore the possibility."<br /><br />So, in other words, the game might, <em>might</em> have co-op. However, given that the game is scheduled to release this holiday, if co-op hasn't even been planned thus far, we're not counting on it. Here's hoping.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/prince-of-persia-co-op-possibility-being-explored/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/prince-of-persia-co-op-a-possibility/">Prince of Persia co-op a 'possibility'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 15:00:00 EST. Wow, we've been happy with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware">WiiWare</a>. You all have been happy with the titles, correct? Well, regardless of how you would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/wii-warm-up-rate-wiiware/">rate the service so far</a>, we have a tough question to ask.<br /><br />Do you think the steady flow of new titles will remain constant going forward? Would you expect at least one new WiiWare game each week, or do you think that the well is getting close to dried up? Sure, there's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/joystiq-talks-with-strong-bad-devs/"><em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em></a> to look forward to, but what else? An Ubisoft rep tells us, "We haven't officially released any screenshots online for <em>PoP</em>" -- kinda hard to believe when there's a <a href="http://games.tiscali.cz/news/news.asp?id=27625&amp;r=top">fresh cluster</a> warming up the server on Czech Republic site Tiscali Games. (There's a <a href="http://games.tiscali.cz/previews/princeofpersia/index.asp">preview</a> too, in Czech -- and here's Google's <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.tiscali.cz%2Fsearch%2Findex.asp%3Fsekce%3D0%26co%3Dprince%2Bof%2Bpersia%2Bprodigy%26nadpis%3D1%26text%3D0&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;sl=cs&amp;tl=en">best effort</a>.) While the images look virtually identical to those seen in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/rumor-new-prince-of-persia-detailed-in-joypad-mag/">leaked</a> Joypad feature from last month, being <em>online screenshots</em>, these new offerings have an obvious advantage over the scans we were forced to make due with previously. As for when Ubi plans the official release of screenshots online: "All screens and artwork will be available on the Ubidays press kit on Wednesday, May 28th."<br /><br />In addition, we've posted a new "Speed Art" trailer after the break, depicting Elika, a "powerful companion who accompanies the Prince throughout the game." Elika will apparently be integrated into the actual gameplay, assisting with acrobatics and combat. Just think of her as the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war">Dominic Santiago</a>, you know, minus the Hispanic meathead part.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299113">NeoGaf</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/22/a-cleaner-look-at-next-gen-cel-shaded-prince-of-persia/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A cleaner look at next-gen, cel-shaded Prince of Persia</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/22/a-cleaner-look-at-next-gen-cel-shaded-prince-of-persia/">A cleaner look at next-gen, cel-shaded Prince of Persia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 May 2008 16:58:00 EST. Sure, Microsoft may be living it up with the Xbox 360 Spring Showcase, but let's not forget about Nintendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/wiiware-live-no-virtual-console-update-this-week/">WiiWare launch</a> this past Monday. Our friends at <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/category/wiiware">Nintendo Wii Fanboy</a> have been churning out reviews and impressions to give you an idea of what to expect.<br />

<br />Nintendo has released a list of eight games described as "launch window" titles ahead of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware/">WiiWare</a>'s debut in Europe on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/brawl-wiiware-and-nintendo-channel-dated-in-europe/">May 20th</a>. Included are four games that the U.S. is still waiting on -- <em>Dr. Mario &amp; Germ Buster</em>, <em>Star Soldier R</em>, <em>Toki Tori</em>, and <em>Pirates: The Key of Dreams</em> -- though it looks like Europe will be waiting a little longer for <em>Defend Your Castle</em> and <em>V.I.P Casino: Blackjack</em>. Frankly, we'll live without a blackjack game.<br /><br />Once again, note that these are "launch window" games. How long is a launch window? No idea. "Launch window" is one of those infuriatingly flexible terms beloved by PR types. Anyway, the list of WiiWare games that Europe will be getting <em>kinda near</em> the launch is as follows: <br />

There's currently no news on pricing, but we'd fully expect European WiiWare prices to match those of other regions, assuming Nintendo hasn't found a totally new and unique way to rip European gamers off.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/nintendo-reveals-first-wiiware-titles-for-europe/">Nintendo reveals first WiiWare titles for Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 May 2008 11:45:00 EST. Nnooo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/pop-to-cost-from-5-to-8/"><em>Pop</em></a> is an unusual puzzle/shooter hybrid. It has a lot in common with matching-based puzzle games: activating multiple objects (in this case, bubbles, activated by tapping) of the same color as they fall builds a score multiplier, and gameplay-modifying items are found in some of the objects. However, unlike <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/vc-tuesday-big-threes/"><em>Columns</em></a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/14/eye-popping-bust-a-move-bash-screens/"><em>Bust-a-Move</em></a>, there is little immediate penalty for missing. Bubbles don't build up and kill you when they fill up the screen -- they fly by at a constant rate regardless of your actions. You are required to pop consistently to fill a timer, but the lack of building stacks does change the character of the game a lot versus that kind of puzzle game.<br /><br />Instead, <em>Pop</em>'s tension is based more on recognizing the flying bubbles quickly, and popping as rapidly as you can with some semblance of strategy. There's no penalty for popping different colors, but popping the same color builds your score multiplier. Big bubbles add more time but less score, and small bubbles add more score but less time. Since all of these effects are still positive, the basic strategy of the game is to <em>pop the hell out of anything that is a bubble.</em> In this way, the game feels very much like a scrolling shooter.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/wii-fanboy-review-pop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: Pop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/wii-fanboy-review-pop/">Wii Fanboy Review: Pop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 18:00:00 EST. As we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/nintendo-holding-back-wiiware-launch-list/">anticipated</a>, Nintendo waited until the last possible moment to reveal the details on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware/">WiiWare</a>'s U.S. launch. In a press release which describes WiiWare as the "most democratic environment in industry history," Nintendo confirmed the six titles that launched with the download service today -- and it looks like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/10/nintendo-reveals-wiiware-launch-list/">leaked information</a> from the weekend was spot-on:<br />

So it's finally up -- hurray! Monday mornings haven't felt quite this optimistic in some time! Have any of you lot already downloaded yourself some WiiWare?<br />

While we can't be sure this list is 100% valid, it looks like we can expect the following:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/defend-your-castle-trailer-storms-the-internet/"><span style="font-style: italic;"> Defend Your Castle</span></a> -- 500 Wii Points</li>

Although we're disappointed by the lack of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/nintendo-prescribes-price-new-name-for-dr-mario/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Dr. Mario</span></a>, this looks like a pretty solid launch list to us. It'll be difficult to pick and choose exactly which titles we want, but there are definitely some that stand out more than others. <br />
<br />
How about you? Do you plan on downloading any of the above, or are you going to wait for impressions and reviews first?<br />

When we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/pop-on-wii-ware-looks-cooler-than-we-thought/">first heard</a> about <em>Pop</em> (okay, maybe not <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/yay-australian-dev-brings-pop-to-wii-ware/"><em>right at first</em></a>), we were charmed by its addictive-looking simplicity. That, though, was well before a slew of other games were announced for WiiWare.<br /><br />That doesn't mean that we've lost interest in the bubble-themed puzzle game, but we'll be a little more picky when it comes to purchasing it. If you're on the same page as us, you might be thinking that the cost of <em>Pop</em> could be its "make it or break it" factor, which is why we don't envy the people in charge of making such decisions.<br /><br />Nic Watt, creative director of Nnooo, says that it's difficult to determine how much the software will cost because there's no set line for WiiWare games. To be fair to consumers, the company is trying to base their game by Virtual Console standards. According to Watt, the game should be "somewhere between a NES and SNES game in price," which means it will cost from 500 to 800 points (aka, $5 to $8).<br /><br />What say you, readers? Though it's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/28/prince-of-persia-officially-returns-this-holiday/">officially announced</a> for a Holiday 2008 release, Ubisoft's next and "next-gen" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia"><em>Prince of Persia</em></a> hasn't been glimpsed outside of some leaked concept art (seen above). Of course, that's not a situation the internet can tolerate for very long, with alleged magazine scans of the royal wall runner already popping up on several sites. New information and images, reportedly emerging from the pages of French mag, <em>Joypad</em>, reveal the cel-shaded prince leaping through several stunning environments.<br /> <br /> A loose (and unconfirmed) French translation from the NeoGAF forum indicate that our acrobatic pal has gone and done something regrettable again -- this time he's let an evil god out of its box and needs to restore the corrupted world (<em>a la Okami</em>) bit by bit. Quick, rewind the time! Oh, wait, that's supposedly not in the game anymore. Instead, it seems the Ubisoft Montreal team has started anew, with more open levels ("multiple paths can be taken"), a greater reliance on the environment ("Prince can slide along any walls using his glove") and fewer, more memorable bosses "inspired by" <em>Metal Gear Solid</em>. It's not specified whether you'll have to change wireless controller channels to defeat any of them.<br /><br /><a href="http://loading.se/forum.php?thread_id=38325">Read</a> -- NeoGAF translation (the forum is currently down)<br /><a href="http://twobrothersandasister.com/?p=1989">Read</a> -- <em>Prince of Persia</em> screens<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/rumor-new-prince-of-persia-detailed-in-joypad-mag/">Rumor: New Prince of Persia detailed in Joypad mag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 13:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.trademork.com/prince-of-persia-prodigy/">Trademork</a> brings us word that Jordan Mechner, creator of wall-running time reverser, <em>Prince of Persia</em>, has filed to protect a new <a href="http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&amp;entry=77448101">trademark</a>. "Prince of Persia Prodigy" is now listed in relation to "game software and electronic game programs; electronic game software for mobile phones, personal digital assistants, and handheld computers." With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/ubi-confirms-new-prince-of-persia-in-fiscal-08/">Ubisoft suggesting</a> that a new entry in the franchise is due to PoP up on modern consoles, one could speculate that "Prodigy" will serve as a subtitle to the royal acrobat's next adventure. One could also speculate that it implies a tie-in with the electropunk group of the same name, taking us back to the dark and angst-ridden tone of <em>Prince of Persia: Warrior Within</em>. That being the case, one should hope that <em>one</em> counts the number of people seriously considering such a project.<br /><br />A second paragraph of speculation might also draw a connection between the trademark and next year's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/newell-prince-of-persia-not-a-video-game-movie/">not a video game movie</a>" adaptation of <em>Prince of Persia</em>. How could anybody resist <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=DsjDEZ9-9RU">a game</a> based on a movie based on a game?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/prince-of-persia-prodigy-trademarked-by-jordan-mechner/">'Prince of Persia Prodigy' trademarked by Jordan Mechner</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Apr 2008 10:57:00 EST. Besides checking out what retail Wii and DS games Nintendo had available, Joystiq also managed to spend some quality time with WiiWare and a few of its games. The general consensus? It's a mixed bag.<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/11/nms08-strong-bads-cool-trailers-for-attractive-people/"><em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em></a> seems to capture the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/745774/">Flash toon's look</a> and feel, but is fairly linear (at least in the demo available at NMS08). Stern was also able to pry some more info about the episodic nature of the game from the title's marketing director, who said "Each episode, a different designer [is in charge], which is more like they do on TV. ... It's still the same team. [But] it'll be interesting to see how the episodes feel as a result. With <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>, we've had complaints that they feel too similar. We might find with <em>Strong Bad</em>, that each one feels very different."</li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/a-serene-video-of-lostwinds-in-action/"><em>LostWinds</em></a> is shaping up nicely, apparently, as Stern commented "Because of game's playful controls, I wish I could have spent the time progressing through the entire game." He says this because <em>LostWinds</em> is actually finished, and the folks behind it hope its in the WiiWare launch lineup.<br /> </li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/maintaining-your-life-as-a-king-isnt-cheap/"><em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King</em></a> is more for the folks that like everything outside of the combat in RPG games. It's very menu-heavy, and you're very much like the manager of the game, sending out your townfolk to find goodies to bring back to you.<br /></li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/pop-on-wii-ware-looks-cooler-than-we-thought/"><em>Pop</em></a> seems to have some very interesting multiplayer mechanics and, like <em>LostWinds</em>, is totally finished. The single-player games are "casual and a trance-like way to relax," apparently. They hope that it will be in the WiiWare launch lineup and between 500 and 800 Wii Points.<br /></li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/do-you-trust-major-league-eating-to-feed-you/"><em>Major League Eating</em></a> is offering up a buffet of features for users to take from, including Wi-Fi gameplay and the complete package of <em>competitive eating</em>. There's going to be gross out techniques, as well as actual attack and defensive maneuvers. We're not all about who can eat a billion hot dogs the fastest ourselves, but it looks like this one is shaping up to be a full meal of fun on WiiWare.<br /></li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/wii-fanboy-interviews-world-of-goos-ron-carmel/"><em>World of Goo</em></a> is something that we've been interested in, surely you all know. And everytime someone checks it out and bothers to write something up on the internet, we're even more convinced this is a <em>must download</em>. Stern's label that this title has the "clever puzzle mechanic" and "irresistible gameplay" we've been hoping may have just cemented its status as a must own for us.</li>

While some of the Wiiware efforts on display at the Nintendo Media Summit <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-hands-on-world-of-goo-wiiware/">impressed</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-hands-on-lostwinds-wiiware/">surprised</a> me, I was more ambivalent about <em>Pop</em>.<br /><br />The simple game is just about pointing and clicking on bubbles that drift by. Click a bunch of like-colors in a row, and rack up a bonus score that's activated when you pop a different-colored bubble. Miss the bubbles completely, and the count-down timer jumps ahead, moving closer to the end of the game. The only other catch is that your potential points and time keep rising with bubble-popping combos, but they aren't added to the game until you break the run. Get too greedy, and you'll run out of time.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/">Pop (WiiWare)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/#753118"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/pop_screenshot1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/#753117"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/pop_screenshot2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/#753116"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/pop_screenshot3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/#753115"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/pop_screenshot4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pop-wiiware/#753114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/pop_screenshot5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-hands-on-pop-wiiware/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Pop (Wiiware)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-hands-on-pop-wiiware/">Joystiq hands-on: Pop (Wiiware)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 19:30:00 EST. Though we yearn to say otherwise, Disney's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia">Prince of Persia</a>: Sands of Time </em>film hasn't shown to be particularly adept at running the gauntlet. Coupling mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/04/bruckheimer-might-change-prince-of-persia-time-period/">involvement</a> with director Mike Newell's promise (of having his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/newell-prince-of-persia-not-a-video-game-movie/"><em>assistant</em> play through</a> the game) leads us to believe that the crew has fallen into the very first pit and succumbed to one of those spinning blade thingies.<br /><br />Still, we'd best give them a chance to finish shooting in Morocco this June, which <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117981952.html?categoryId=13&amp;cs=1"><em>Variety</em></a> notes will have a positive effect on the North African film business. Scenes for the Jeffrey Nachmanoff- and Jordan Mechner-written project will also be filmed at the UK's Pinewood Shepperton studios. Cross your fingers and hope for something more than a literal explosion of bullet-time sword fights, churlish chariot chases and liberal lingering on Farah's faucets.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/prince-of-persia-heads-to-morocco-for-film-shoot/">Prince of Persia heads to Morocco for film shoot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 22:00:00 EST. Even though no one outside of Japan knows <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/no-concrete-date-for-wii-ware-launch-says-nintendo/">when to expect Wii Ware</a>, the game service has had quite a few interesting titles announced for it. But, what game or games are <em>you</em> most excited about?<br /><br />Let's give it a little rundown, shall we? We have a pretty looking spin-off <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crystal-chronicles/">from Square-Enix</a>, a few <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/telltale-wont-tell-about-sam-and-max/">possible</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/wii-ware-gets-some-naughty-dogs/">adventure</a> titles, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/eternitys-child-settles-on-wii-ware/">platformer</a>, some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/pop-on-wii-ware-looks-cooler-than-we-thought/">puzzle</a> games (including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/13/wii-warm-up-dr-mariod/">a beloved classic</a>), a unique <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/butterflies-flutter-onto-wii-ware/">butterfly simulation</a>, something currently called <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/project-bang-announced-to-hit-wii-ware/"><em>Project Bang!</em></a> -- oh, and then there's the one with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/10/new-channel-blowout-everybodys-nintendo-mii-contest-and-more/">Pokemon</a>. We haven't even mentioned the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/10/slew-of-new-titles-announced-for-wii-ware/">slew of others</a> that came with Wii Ware's original announcement, and then there may even be some that we've forgotten.<br /><br />We know you have to be <em>at least</em> a little bit excited for Wii Ware. So, tell us -- which games most strike your fancy?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/09/wii-warm-up-wii-ware-progress-report/">Wii Warm Up: Wii Ware progress report</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Feb 2008 10:30:00 EST. Sprinkling logic crumbs throughout the investigation and frequently bending reality to ensure those pesky crooks get captured, the behind-the-scenes scribes are the ones doing the real dirty work. Witness the investigative team of NBC "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_%28US_TV_series%29">Life</a>" being given a <a href="http://news.filefront.com/the-tv-show-life-prince-of-persia-painful-viewing/">bona fide boon</a> in the improbable decision of a drug dealer to hide incriminating files <em>inside his console</em>, which we're helpfully informed is "just a hard drive with games on it." Accessing the evidence requires an embarrassing plot device yanked straight from the zeitgeist: The detectives must dramatically reach "Level 10" in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ubisoft/">Ubisoft</a>'s <em>Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones</em>, preferably with the aid of a stealth gurrrl gamer.<br /><br />[Thanks, Hashbrown_Hunter]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/nbcs-life-investigates-prince-of-persia/">NBC's 'Life' investigates Prince of Persia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Nov 2007 13:46:00 EST. Variety reports that mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer has offered director duties for <em>Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time</em> to Mike Newell. Although Newell directed <em>Four Weddings and a Funeral</em> and <em>Donnie Brasco</em>, we're guessing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/JerryBruckheimer/">Bruckheimer</a> is <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117975541.html?categoryId=1079&amp;cs=1">tapping</a> Newell because of his work with <em>Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire</em>. Newell is currently meeting with Disney studio execs this week and an announcement will probably be made shortly thereafter.<br /><br />The script for <em>Prince of Persia</em> was written by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (<em>The Day After Tomorrow</em>) and PoP creator Jordan Mechner. All we can say at this point is this movie is sounding like a popcorn munching friendly theater experience.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/harry-potter-director-offered-prince-of-persia-reigns/">Harry Potter director offered Prince of Persia movie reins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Nov 2007 14:30:00 EST. Okay, we admit that we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/yay-australian-dev-brings-pop-to-wii-ware/">were a little skeptical</a> about <em>Pop</em>, Nnooo's upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wii-ware/">Wii Ware</a> title. You might even say we were blatantly snarky. We fear that we might have to eat an unhealthy serving of crow, however, after seeing IGN's impressions of the game. <br /><br />Even though it has a simple concept, <em>Pop</em> appears to be surprisingly deep. Not only does the game have an enchanting aesthetic, with sixteen different background variations, but the gameplay also has many different facets. The multiplayer mode seems to be the game's bread and butter, allowing four players to compete in some bubble popping madness. Strategy comes heavily into play here, as you have to pop big bubbles to add more time to your meter, yet pop small bubbles to get more points and beat your competitors. <em>Pop</em> also gets harder as it progresses, putting our fears to rest that the game would be too easy.<br /><br />Nnooo also tries to deliver a fulfilling single-player experience by adding achievements to the game, which they call "badges," as well as various playing modes. You can also earn badges in the multiplayer setting, not to mention have your scores tracked and pimped via WiiConnect24 notifications. IGN reports that the soundtrack is pretty enticing, too, and might be sold over iTunes at some point.<br /><br />We're starting to become excited about this title, at least a little bit, and if pulled off correctly we think it can only mean good things for the future of Wii Ware. What do you guys think? Can <em>Pop</em> be the next <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/kohler-geowars-is-better-on-the-wii-shouldve-been-wii-ware/"><em>Geometry Wars</em></a>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/pop-on-wii-ware-looks-cooler-than-we-thought/">Pop on Wii Ware looks cooler than we thought</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Oct 2007 20:00:00 EST. <br />Sydney-based studio Nnooo (pronounced "No!" as in, "No, our game doesn't really have much to it.") announced last night its plans to develop an all-ages <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiiware">Wii Ware</a> project titled <span style="font-style: italic;">Pop</span>. Playable by up to four people on the same console, <span style="font-style: italic;">Pop</span> "challenges" you to quickly burst bubbles and rack up points with chains and multipliers. Judging from the trailer embedded past the break, the game's design and mechanics are about as simple as they sound. If you're looking for more depth, you might want to hold onto your Wii points and play with a sheet of bubble wrap instead.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/yay-australian-dev-brings-pop-to-wii-ware/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Yay? The <a href="http://www.legendarypictures.com/index.php">official website</a> of film production company Legendary Pictures has recently been updated to reflect a <em>Diablo</em> movie entering development alongside the <a href="http://www.blizzard.com/press/060509.shtml">previously announced</a> <em>World of Warcraft</em> film. As far as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/watch-the-prince-of-persia-movie-on-10-july-2009/">game-to-film adaptations</a> go, Blizzard's demonic role-player probably represents one of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/08/sony-pictures-producing-metal-gear-solid-movie/">better properties</a> to mine, certainly ranking above <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/25/the-sims-coming-to-the-big-screen-logic-be-damned/"><em>The Sims</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/18/dead-or-alive-movie-dead-on-arrival/"><em>Dead or Alive</em></a>. Examining the group's lineup of completed films, which includes <em>Batman Begins</em> and <em>300</em>, vaguely instills some confidence in this adaptation, but we think you'll find the hands of movie executives usually have a way of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uweboll">wringing that out of you</a>.<br /><br />No other information about the <em>Diablo</em> film has been disclosed, though it seems a fair guess that it'll have the eponymous villain attempting to wreck the world, only to be foiled by a floating arrow constantly jabbing at his head. Blizzard was unavailable for comment at the time of writing -- presumably off shoving large jewels into their skulls.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=21095">ComingSoon.net</a>]<br /><br />[<strong>Update: </strong>The <em>Diablo</em> listing has since been removed from the Legendary Pictures website.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/18/legendary-pictures-producing-diablo-film/">Legendary Pictures producing Diablo film [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jun 2007 13:57:00 EST. While Ubisoft may have spilled the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/ubisoft-prince-of-persia-on-xbla-next-week/">beans</a> in regards to <em>Prince of Persia Classic</em>'s releasing this Wednesday, Microsoft has caught up and officially confirmed that announcement, as well as price point. The updated title, with its snazzy new mazes, traps and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/15/prince-of-persia-classic-looking-snazzy/">graphical enhancements</a>, is going to run you 800 Microsoft Points. We suppose that could have been expected, but it still may turn a few off from the title. We'll have to wait and see if the demo pulls us in, nostalgic memories notwithstanding. What's your take on the game and price?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/prince-of-persia-classic-hits-xbla-this-wednesday/">Prince of Persia Classic hits XBLA this Wednesday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Jun 2007 12:30:00 EST. Ubisoft has <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=77416">told</a> Eurogamer that June 13th's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> release will indeed be the revered and now revitalized royalty of platformers, <em>Prince of Persia Classic</em>. First <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/prince-of-persia-rated-by-germans-for-xbla/">glimpsed</a> in April, the game looks to be a beautiful remake of the first landmark adventure, taking place well before all those "time is an ocean in a storm" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/princeofpersia">shenanigans</a>. As such, you should expect to swig potions, swing swords and plummet down extraordinarily deep chasms on a frequent basis as you attempt to rescue the Princess of Persia... or Posture, by the looks of it. <br /><br />No announcement regarding the price has been made, but 800 MS points ($10) would be a fair guess. Funnily enough, the game's value is inversely proportional to your platforming prowess. Perhaps it's best you don't finish the adventure within the traditional one hour time limit. We'll update this post once we learn the final details.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/this-wednesday-prince-of-persia-pops-onto-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>This Wednesday: Prince of Persia remake pops onto XBLA</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/this-wednesday-prince-of-persia-pops-onto-xbla/">This Wednesday: Prince of Persia remake pops onto XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Jun 2007 14:30:00 EST. The games range from the classic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metroid">(</a><em><a href="javascript:void(0);/*1177566390062*/">Metroid</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/persia">Prince of Persia</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/actraiser">Actraiser</a></em>) to the classic-to-us (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/jj"><em>Kato-chan &amp; Ken-chan</em></a>) to the painful (<em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeshi_no_Chousenjou">Takeshi no Chousenjou</a>,</em> which seems to have been designed as a cynical joke against gamers). Of course, the show is edited to fit into its format, so you aren't stuck watching all twelve hours or however long it takes.<br /><br />Crunk Games's Ray Barnholt is our hero for compiling this exhaustive episode guide. He has profiled the personalities and written detailed descriptions of each episode, including who is interviewed, what is discussed, and, most importantly, a play-by-play of the game sessions. Reading his descriptions is almost as good as watching the actual show. Speaking of the actual show, he's provided links to Japanese fanpages, at least <a href="http://www1.odn.ne.jp/%7Eaaa23320/eemono/gamecx.html">one of which</a> has Youtube links.<br /><br />We're generally glad that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/virtual-console">Virtual Console</a> is raising awareness of old games in general. Now we're glad that the VC enables whole new generations to do what Arino is doing, and experience game history first hand, one complete game at a time.<br /><br />Would you watch this kind of thing if it were on American TV? How about a similar show in English on the web? We wouldn't mind some personal narrative or gameplay videos on the Wii, to add value to the VC experience.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/game-center-cx-is-tv-for-retro-game-nerds/">Game Center CX is TV for retro game nerds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Apr 2007 09:45:00 EST. Since the <em>Two Thrones</em> wrapped up the previous storyline, this will be an all new start for the Prince. The image itself comes from Xbox World 360 magazine's recent preview, which suggests that the gauntlet that the Prince is donning could come into play in the game. Whether it does or not, it still looks a lot like Hellboy's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellboy#The_Right_Hand_of_Doom">Right Hand of Doom</a>. But on the left hand, as Prince appears to have a dagger (of time?) in his right. What would you like in a 360 <em>Prince of Persia</em> game?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/02/new-gen-prince-of-persia-art/">New gen Prince of Persia art</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Mar 2007 12:45:00 EST. The game will be broken down better, in the hopes of making it easier for beginners to get into and play, with 3 different classes of difficulty. The game is currently scheduled for a December 14th release in Japan and will sell for 5,040 &yen; (or about $42 USD).<br /><br />We've included some of the screens and concept art into the post, past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/20/15th-anniversary-puyo-pop-screenshot-explosion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>15th anniversary Puyo Pop screenshot explosion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/20/15th-anniversary-puyo-pop-screenshot-explosion/">15th anniversary Puyo Pop screenshot explosion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Nov 2006 14:15:00 EST. If there's a second thing, it has got to be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=puzzle">puzzle</a> games. As such, the recent announcement that a new <em>Puyo Pop</em> game was coming to Japan on December 14th complete with Wi-Fi gameplay was enough to send the staff into convulsions, dropping to the floor with so much of a thud as a dead fish (we can't be fish, how would we type?!).<br /><br />This time around, Sega hopes to spice up the gameplay by having the board flip upside-down during the match. This will obviously cause more tension in the game, which is already a nail-biter as is. We can confidently say that we will be importing this game come December 14th, but how about you guys and gals?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=5707">Go Nintendo</a>]<br /><br />[Update: Pesky sentence fragments.
