In an interview with <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/08/04/cave-story-3d-will-have-expanded-levels-maybe-a-prinny-item/">Siliconera</a>, NIS America producer Jack Niida hinted at a Prinny crossover in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/cave-story-3d"><em>Cave Story 3D</em></a>. "You can probably expect our most popular character in there. Aside from that, you might see him as an item, as well." Prinny is a shoo-in for NIS's most popular character, and it's been used in <em>Cave Story 3D</em> teaser images before (see above), so that's probably the dood in question.<br />
<br />
Niida also offered a bit more info about the expanded content in the 3D version, which Nicalis hinted at during our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/15/cave-story-3d-preview-pixel-goes-polygonal/">preview</a>. "For the old time fans of <em>Cave Story</em>, there aren't brand new stages," he said, "but what we did for these stages is we expanded it. So, there is more to it than there was before. There are new areas to explore; long time fans will definitely see the difference."<br />
<br />
What won't be in <em>Cave Story 3D</em> is the original <em>Cave Story</em>. "That's one thing we were talking about too," he said, "but the problem was the amount of space on the card size. We sort of squeezed everything in and at this point we don't have enough space for it."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/cave-story-3d-includes-expanded-stages-and-prinny-but-not-ori/">Cave Story 3D includes 'expanded' stages and Prinny, but not original game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Aug 2011 21:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/DISGAEA-4"><em>Disgaea 4</em> </a>Premium Editions we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/14/disgaea-4-premium-edition-is-loaded-with-toys/">outlined last April</a> are now available for pre-order, so get ready to have the penguin and/or bomb-shaped voids filled in your strategically battling little hearts.<br />
<br />
Pre-order packages come in your choice of <a href="http://store.nisamerica.com/Disgaea4-StandardEdition">Original Recipe</a>, <a href="http://store.nisamerica.com/Disgaea4-PremiumEdition">Extra Crispy</a> (the "Premium Edition"), and <a href="http://store.nisamerica.com/Disgaea4-PremiumFigureSet"><em>Buffalo-style</em></a>, (the "Premium Figure Set"), with art books and adorable figurines awaiting those who are willing to drop a little extra coin. All three options come with the game's soundtrack, however, so you won't be entirely left out of the freebie fun if a 4-inch-tall anime penguin girl isn't worth 20 extra smackers.<br />

Had it been us, we'd have changed all the panties to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/27/virtually-overlooked-dragon-power/">sandwiches</a>. See the box art after the break.<br />
<br />
More importantly, NIS also revealed that <em>Prinny 2</em> will feature a new, easier difficulty called "Baby," for people who thought the first <em>Prinny</em> game was too hard. In other words, <em>people</em>. How many other games give you 1,000 lives right from the start, knowing that <em>won't help</em>?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/19/prinny-2-mercifully-offers-baby-difficulty-setting/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prinny 2 mercifully offers 'Baby' difficulty setting</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/19/prinny-2-mercifully-offers-baby-difficulty-setting/">Prinny 2 mercifully offers 'Baby' difficulty setting</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Oct 2010 11:33:00 EST. Just in case you didn't get enough <em>weird</em> this week, NIS has you covered with its announcement that the sequel to its PSP action game <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny-can-I-really-be-the-hero">Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?</a></em> is coming to North America in January 2011 bearing the title <em>Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! </em>(No joking, dudes!)<br />
<br />
The side-scrolling, hack-n-slash game was released earlier this year <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/30/prinny-2-named-dawn-of-the-great-pantsu-war-coming-to-japan-o/">in Japan</a> under the name <em>Prinny 2: Dawn of the Great Pantsu War</em> (no "dood," dudes) and will arrive here in both UMD-based and PSN download form. Now, let's see if NIS America follows through and makes the Japanese release's 10 yen (12&cent;) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/16/prinny-2-offers-cheapest-non-free-dlc-ever/">daikon radish weapon DLC</a> available Stateside, too.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prinny-2-dawn-of-operation-panties-dood/">Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prinny-2-dawn-of-operation-panties-dood/#3451434"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/prinny2015_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prinny-2-dawn-of-operation-panties-dood/#3451435"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/prinny2017_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/prinny-2-dawn-of-operation-panties-dood/#3451436"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/prinny2030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/08/prinny-2-coming-to-north-america-in-january-doods/">Prinny 2 coming to North America in January, doods!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Oct 2010 20:20:00 EST. Pretty much nothing. However, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny-2"><em>Prinny 2</em></a> is breaking the mold in Japan, by offering a DLC item for pennies (or more accurately, yen). Ten yen (about 11 cents) will unlock a new weapon for the explosive penguin star: a daikon, or Japanese radish.<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/04/16/prinny-2s-hellish-radish-is-the-cheapest-console-dlc-ever/">Siliconera</a>, the radish will replace Hero Prinny's sword. However, Prinny Asagi will be able to use the radish as a rapid-fire gun, of sorts. While some may argue that this kind of content should be included in the game, it's at least a far better deal than the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/15/blizzard-selling-armored-horse-in-wow-for-25/">$25 virtual horse</a> that Blizzard is currently selling in <em>World of Warcraft</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/16/prinny-2-offers-cheapest-non-free-dlc-ever/">Prinny 2 offers cheapest non-free DLC ever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Apr 2010 14:15:00 EST. <em>Prinny 2: Dawn of the Great Pantsu War</em> will reportedly launch for the PSP on March 25, 2010 in Japan, according to <a href="http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/223/223679/index-5.html">Dengeki Online</a> (via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/24/help-find-etnas-pantsu-in-prinny-2/">Siliconera</a>). Sure, Nippon Ichi Software might not exactly want <em>us</em> to know that it's making a sequel to this year's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny">Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?</a></em>, but that doesn't stop the company from releasing a mess of screenshots and a release date to gamers across the Pacific, along with with the game's full title. <br />
<br />
As if the first game's premise of securing cakes for Etna wasn't ridiculous enough, the second game tasks you with recovering underpants for her (thus the title). To combat the various <em>adorable</em> enemies along the way (just look at that penguin!), the developer has added new moves as well as a "baby mode" for novices. Are you ready to lose another set of 1000 lives? If so, then Nippon Ichi has a new <em>Prinny</em> game for you. Unfortunately, Nippon Ichi has decided against releasing any information on the game, even obscuring its lengthy title. After playing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/prinny-can-i-really-be-the-hero-coming-to-the-us-in-february/">first game</a>, can we suggest <em>Prinny 2: This is Going to be a Really Hard Game</em>?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/10/23/prinny_sequel/">Andriasang</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/nippon-ichi-teases-new-prinny-platformer/">Nippon Ichi teases new Prinny platformer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Oct 2009 13:15:00 EST. As we <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/09/08/nis-classics-hit-psn-in-october-price-cut-in-half/">reported</a> earlier this month, NIS America is making several of its previously UMD-only PSP games available for download from the US PlayStation Store late tonight / early tomorrow morning to coincide with the launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a>. <br /><br />For a period of one week, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2006/02/10/blade-dancer-lineage-of-light-announced/"><em>Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light</em></a>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/11/06/psp-fanboy-review-disgaea-afternoon-of-darkness/"><em>Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness</em></a>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/09/01/psp-fanboy-review-dragoneers-aria/"><em>Dragoneer's Aria</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/holy-invasion-of-privacy-badman"><em>Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman!</em></a>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/08/09/mana-khemia-promo-trailer-reveals-classic-jrpg-action/"><em>Mana Khemia: Student Alliance</em></a> and <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/prinny-is-it-okay-to-show-off-the-first-level-of-gameplay/"><em>Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?</em></a> will be available at 50% off their normal cost -- a welcome offer, given that many digital titles on the store are keeping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/sony-to-maintain-pricing-parity-for-downloadable-psp-games/">pricing parity</a> with their retail UMD equivalents.<br /><br />NIS is also asking visitors to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/09/nis-re-releasing-psp-titles-plus-holy-invasion-of-privacy-badman-umd-poll/">PlayStation Blog</a> whether they want to see a UMD release of <em>Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!</em> by means of a poll that currently has the "ayes" and "nays" running nearly neck-and-neck.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/psa-nis-americas-psp-re-releases-half-price-on-psn-starting-to/">PSA: NIS America's PSP re-releases half price on PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Oct 2009 05:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nippon-ichi">Nippon Ichi</a> continues to crank out announcements for its new upcoming games -- though calling this one a "game" might be a bit of a stretch. Though <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/17/disgaea-infinite-is-a-visual-novel-starring-a-prinny/"><em>Disgaea Infinite</em></a> shares a name, setting and characters with the core <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/disgaea"><em>Disgaea</em></a> series, it's far from a strategy-RPG title. In fact, this installment is a PSP visual novel, starring a Prinny who's tasked with solving a murder by possessing other characters and reading their minds.<br />
<br />
As you might be able to tell from the above description (and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGxICN93hHg">the trailer</a> posted after the break), it's shaping up to be bizarre -- even by <em>Disgaea</em>'s typically weird standards. Regardless, Japanese Prinny enthusiasts can grab the game Nov. 1 on the PSN for 2,500 yen ($27).<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/nippon-ichi-reveals-disgaea-infinite-visual-novel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nippon Ichi reveals Disgaea Infinite visual novel</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/nippon-ichi-reveals-disgaea-infinite-visual-novel/">Nippon Ichi reveals Disgaea Infinite visual novel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Sep 2009 16:45:00 EST. </a></div>
The identity of the PSP role-playing game which <em>Disgaea</em> developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/nippon-ichi-may-be-working-on-new-2d-platformer-for-psp/">Nippon Ichi teased in July</a> has been revealed. Appropriately titled <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/16/meet-nippon-ichis-absolute-hero/"><em>Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku</em></a> (which translates to <em>Absolute Hero Modding Project</em>), the game pits players up against randomly generated dungeons, where they can search for equipment with which to fully customize their character, or battle enemies in order to level up their characters <em>forever</em>.<br />
<br />
The game has a 2010 launch window for Japan, but Ichi hasn't mentioned anything about a North American release. That's a shame -- based on <a href="http://dps.dengeki.com/2009/09/11/p1104/">these screenshots</a> over at Dengeki, it looks right up our isometric alley.<br />

NIS America's library of PSP games is about to go digital. Games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/disgaea"><em>Disgaea</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Can I Be the Hero?</em></a>, <em>Blade Dancer</em> and more are being transformed into downloadable games, available from the PlayStation Store. Unlike many other UMD archive games on the PSN, NIS America will be offering a special discount on these downloadables: 50% off.<br />
<br />
The promotion isn't set to begin until October 1st, when the PSP Go launches. The sale will last for one week, allowing PSP owners new and old to pick up some NIS games for $12.99 and less.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/08/nis-classics-hit-psn-in-october-price-cut-in-half/">NIS classics hit PSN in October, price cut in half</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Sep 2009 18:15:00 EST. A brand new "Hero Transformation Project" is coming to PSP. What does that mean? We're not exactly sure either, but a snapshot of this PSP game teaser (via <a href="http://www.psphyper.com/psp/rumor-nis-teasing-new-psp-title/">PSP Hyper</a>) shows our spiky-haired friend turning into all sorts of things, ranging from tanks to Prinnies. It looks like Nippon Ichi, creator of the recently released <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny">Prinny</a></em>, may be working hard on yet another PSP game. Good thing, too, as the <em>Prinny</em> platformer -- as devilishly difficult as it is -- is one of the best-looking, sprite-based 2D games we've seen on a handheld.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/nippon-ichi-may-be-working-on-new-2d-platformer-for-psp/">Nippon Ichi may be working on new 2D platformer for PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 12:15:00 EST. <em>Disgaea 3</em> has been updated in Japan with two new features: Trophies and PlayStation Home support. The two go hand in hand as well. Unlocking a Trophy in the game will also earn you a reward in Home: a Prinny trophy you can place in your virtual abode.<br />
<br />
Of course, getting the Trophies won't be very easy. <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/03/26/disgaea-3-gets-home-rewards-patch/">Siliconera</a> reveals some details on what you must do: "One trophy is awarded after dealing over 10 billion damage and another is given after a Counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-counter-attack." Excuse me?<br />
<br />
We're hoping English language versions of <em>Disgaea 3</em> will also receive this patch. It's always nice to see developers update their games to take advantage of all the new features added to the PS3 post-release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/27/disgaea-3-patch-adds-trophies-and-home-support/">Disgaea 3 patch adds Trophies and Home support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Mar 2009 02:30:00 EST. Monday is totally the new Sunday. Okay, we're lying. Valentine's Day got the best of this blogger, and now this feature comes in one day late. (But hey, it's a holiday today, here in the States.) We start this feature with a bloody, "homicide" themed modded PS3 from Jerry Thampan. Check out more pics <a href="http://ps3maven.com/homicide-ps3-mod-is-bloody-awesome/">here</a>. [Thanks, Roland!]<br />

PSP has been following in the footsteps of its PS3 big brother for quite some time now. The latest trend it's starting to pick up? DLC. Owners of the PS3 have become accustomed to purchasing post-release content through the PlayStation Store, and it appears PSP owners may follow suit.<br /><br /><em>Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?</em> will feature a brand new downloadable level featuring cameos from another Nippon Ichi game, <em>Phantom Brave</em>. "Phantom Isle &amp; Marona" is downloadable on the Japanese PlayStation Store for 300 yen ($3.30). See the video after the break.<br /><br />Although <em>Prinny</em> hasn't released in the US yet (it's coming out <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001L8DKJ8?tag=prey0f&amp;camp=0&amp;creative=0&amp;linkCode=as4&amp;creativeASIN=B001L8DKJ8&amp;adid=0A2M9VAXJZVNMBCS5B5D&amp;">February 17th</a>), we're certain NIS America will follow suit and charge for these extras. It'll be interesting to see how PSP owners respond -- will they be as eager to pay for DLC as PS3 owners?<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/prinny-gets-premium-dlc-in-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prinny gets premium DLC in Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/prinny-gets-premium-dlc-in-japan/">Prinny gets premium DLC in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jan 2009 20:38:00 EST. When <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Can I really be the Hero?</em></a> was released in Japan last November, we were left wondering whether we'd see any of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/nippon-ichi-goes-all-out-with-the-swag-for-prinny-launch/">cool swag</a> from Japan come our way. Surprisingly, all those goodies are being released in North America alongside the game's NA debut on February 17. In fact, there will be multiple specialty Premium Box sets commemorating the release. Here are the three sets:<br /><br />Premium Box Set [$39.99]:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Game </li>
    <li>Soundtrack</li>
    <li>Comic from Penny Arcade</li>
</ul>
Hero to the Rescue Set [$64.99]
<ul>
    <li>Premium Box contents</li>
    <li>Red Scarf Prinny plushie</li>
    <li>Prinny PSP Pouch</li>
</ul>
Ultra Dessert Set [$69.99]:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Premium Box contents</li>
    <li>Red Scarf Prinny plushie</li>
    <li>Prinny PSP Pouch</li>
    <li><em>Disgaea</em> Graphic Novel</li>
</ul>
The final and most expensive set, the Ultra Dessert one, is pictured above. Planning to pick up the game? Then you better decide which set suits your tastes more. You can pre-order or check out more at NIS' official store, <a href="http://www.rosenqueen.com/index.asp">RosenQueen</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/nis-details-three-prinny-game-premium-box-sets/">NIS details three Prinny game premium box sets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 09:00:00 EST. Some cheese can be good. Especially on a cracker. However, the cheese offered by this <em>Prinny</em> trailer is of a different, slightly nuttier variety. The fine folks at NIS are bringing <em>Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero</em> over to the States, and they're bringing it in the usual over-the-top <em>Disgaea</em> style. Somehow, NIS is not only able to get away with terrible voice acting, but manages to turn it into an <em>art</em>. Check out the video, after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/14/who-doesnt-want-an-overacted-prinny-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Who doesn't want an overacted Prinny trailer?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/14/who-doesnt-want-an-overacted-prinny-trailer/">Who doesn't want an overacted Prinny trailer?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 14 Dec 2008 21:35:00 EST. We're pretty psyched for the upcoming <em>Prinny</em> game. It looks gorgeous, and maintains the <em>Disgaea</em> charm we all love. Thankfully, our friends at <a href="http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/pspcell/diary/200809300000/">PSP GadgetZ</a> have recorded footage of the game in action. Enjoy the energetic, upbeat music and classic 2D platforming action ... after the break. Then, remember the game is coming to America in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/prinny-can-i-really-be-the-hero-coming-to-the-us-in-february/">February</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/prinny-is-it-okay-to-show-off-the-first-level-of-gameplay/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prinny: Is it okay to show off the first level of gameplay?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/prinny-is-it-okay-to-show-off-the-first-level-of-gameplay/">Prinny: Is it okay to show off the first level of gameplay?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 14:55:00 EST. Nippon Ichi is really going all out for the launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Can I really be the Hero?</em></a>. Purchasers in Japan can get free Etna/Prinny pins (pictured) if they buy the game anytime between the November 20 launch and January 11, 2009. But that's not all, the company is looking to really cash-in with adorable Prinny plushies and a PSP traveling case.<br /><br />There are three Prinny plushies; the red muffler Prinny and Lahar-like Prinny both go for &yen;1,890 ($19.54) each, but the pink Prinny is going for &yen;2,980 ($30.81). The traveling case is blue with an embossed Prinny on the cover; fetch one for &yen;1,785 ($18.40). Check out the pics at <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1219886_1124.html">Famitsu</a>. Hopefully all these goodies will make their way over here, or else ... we'll have to publish a story called <em>North American Gamers: Can we really have all the swag Japan gets</em>? Don't make us do it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/nippon-ichi-goes-all-out-with-the-swag-for-prinny-launch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nippon Ichi goes all out with the swag for Prinny launch</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/nippon-ichi-goes-all-out-with-the-swag-for-prinny-launch/">Nippon Ichi goes all out with the swag for Prinny launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 07:00:00 EST. The awesomely-named <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/disgaea/">Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero</a>?</em> is coming to the States this February, according to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/11/04/prinny-you-can-be-the-hero-just-wait-until-february-ok/">Siliconera</a>. The gorgeous 2D platformer features <em>Disgaea</em>'s oft-pathetic mascot, Prinny, in a new adventure which is said to be "tough as nails." Uh-oh. For those of you that want some <em>Contra</em>-like bad memories, you may want to try the Hell Mode, which will kill your character in just one hit. Yay?<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/prinny-can-i-really-be-the-hero-coming-to-the-us-in-february/">Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? coming to the US in February</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 13:11:00 EST. <div align="left">Gpara has a ton of new screenshots from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Is It Okay If I Am The Main Character?</em></a> They show Prinny fighting various enemies; such as the Mothman, archers and ninjas. A <a href="http://www.gpara.com/comingsoon/prinny/081031/33.php">crab-like vehicle</a> was also spotted. Another fact revealed was that some stages will contain hidden records, an item which allows you to change the background music of that level. For those of you without Japanese PLAYSTATION Network accounts, it'll be pretty much impossible to play the current <span style="font-style: italic;">Prinny</span> demo. Thankfully, our friends at <a href="http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/pspcell/diary/200809300000/">PSP GadgetZ</a> have recorded footage of the demo in action. Enjoy the energetic, upbeat music and classic 2D platforming action ... after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/prinny-is-it-okay-to-star-in-some-video-footage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prinny: Is it okay to star in some video footage?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/prinny-is-it-okay-to-star-in-some-video-footage/">Prinny: Is it okay to star in some video footage?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Sep 2008 11:15:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/disgaea">Disgaea</a></em> fans probably jumped in excitement upon hearing the news that Prinnies would be getting their own game for PSP. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Is It Okay If I Am The Main Character?</em></a> is the aptly cute pseudo-2D side-scroller which is also being released in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/prinny-disgaea-title-coming-to-the-states/">North America</a>. While fans may be squealing in delight over that, here's one more tidbit that's going to make your day: you can play the game now off a demo on the Japanese PS Store. If you can't download it or just plain old stuck at work and can't get to it until you're at home, then we're providing our very own impressions for your convenience. <br /><br />Getting right into it, the demo was a short, one-level adventure taking us through scenery we've seen in screenshots previously (namely the one posted above). As you can see, the environmental objects are 3D models and there will be times when certain actions will cause the camera to shift into this 3D perspective; however, the game is mostly in the 2D perspective, side-scrolling from left to right. Before you start the level you'll be given two optional difficulties: either a "one-hit you're dead" game or a "three-hit chance." The number of hits you can take will be displayed by icons placed in the upper left corner of the screen. If you die, you'll use up a life point which are all displayed in the bottom left.<br /><br />
<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/29/psp-fanboy-hands-on-prinny-is-it-okay-if-i-am-the-main-charact/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSP Fanboy hands-on: Prinny: Is It Okay If I am the Main Character?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/29/psp-fanboy-hands-on-prinny-is-it-okay-if-i-am-the-main-charact/">PSP Fanboy hands-on: Prinny: Is It Okay If I am the Main Character?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Sep 2008 15:30:00 EST. <div align="left"> Want more Prinny action? There are almost 65 screenshots from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Is It Okay If I Am The Main Character?</em></a><em> </em>over at Game Watch right now, just waiting for you to check them out. <p>Wanna know more about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prinny"><em>Prinny: Is It Okay If I Am The Main Character?</em></a> The new <em>Disgaea</em> series spin-off will be a side-scrolling action title featuring the exploding penguins, and here's the story: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Disgaea_characters#Etna">Etna</a> had her favorite candies stolen; you are the poor Prinny assigned to look for them, or deal with a fate worse than death. Other highlights include an extreme difficulty level, "200% better pixel graphics," gameplay data exchange and a promise of new maps and bosses in the form DLC in the future.<br /></p>
<p>The <a href="http://prinny.jp/">official site</a> has also been updated, with information on the controls of the game, the release date, as well as a date for the <a href="http://prinny.jp/download/index.html">demo</a> -- the full game will arrive on November 20th for 5,229 yen (including tax) while the demo will arrive on the Japanese PS Store on 9/29. We got the trailer above and some screenshots in the gallery below, so check them out!<br /></p>

A new 2D platformer starring everyone's favorite penguin pals from <em>Disgaea</em> has just been revealed. Very little is known about the <a href="http://prinny.jp/">game</a>, but the initial <a href="http://i37.tinypic.com/mrs09t.jpg">screenshots</a> look quite promising; look at the quality of these sprites! More info about <em>Prinny: Is it Okay if I'm the Main Character?</em> will undoubtedly come when its official website launches in September.<br /><br />[Thanks, Zach M.!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/29/new-disgaea-platformer-coming-to-psp/">New Disgaea platformer coming to PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Aug 2008 17:15:00 EST. To go along with the June 26 release of the new DS version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/nis-announces-disgaea-delay-releases-english-trailer/"><em>Disgaea</em></a>, Nippon Ichi is doing what they do best (next to making ridiculously hardcore SRPGs for crazy people): making adorable plush dolls. The latest, available on June 20, is a representation of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prinny">Prinny Kurtis</a>, a green, angry-looking Prinny whose human form also appears in the game.<br />
<br />
Kurtis will sell from NIS's Japanese shop for 2,980 yen ($27.88), and <em>probably</em> won't blow up upon arrival. NIS America has a lovely <a href="http://rosenqueen.com/">online store</a> with lots of great promo products as well, so we think we can look forward to domestic availability.<br />

Customers who pay the $19.99 in advance will receive a squishy, pill-shaped Anti-Virus Stress Reliever, much like the image on the right, except branded with everyone's favorite <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Disgaea/">Disgaea</a></em> mascots, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/disgaea-1/715517/">Prinnies</a>.<br />
<br />
As far as we know, the actual game doesn't feature any Prinnies, so it seems as if Rosenqueen is looking to move more <em>Puchi Puchi Virus</em> units by attracting <em>Disgaea</em> fans who have to own every piece of the series' merchandise. Then again, we wouldn't put it past <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nippon-ichi">Nippon Ichi</a> to pack one of its games with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/when-puzzles-attack-jigsaw-battle-world/">cameos</a> from the developer's other franchises.<br />
<br />
Rosenqueen plans to only have a thousand of these two-tone capsules, so make sure to preorder soon! Hopefully they made sure not to line up any of the colored halves while packing these, lest they accidentally clear out their entire stock.<br />

The item hasn't been produced yet, but Nippon Ichi has released a preview image of a totally adorable bonus, which we expect will be handed out to people who preorder <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/disgaea"><em>Disgaea: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon</em></a>. It's a stylus in the shape of the series' well-known mascot/punching bag/exploding projectile, a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prinny">Prinny</a>. <a href="http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/075/75568/img.html">Another drawing</a> gives us an idea of what the final item will look like, and suggests that there will be another <em>Disgaea</em> item made for the DS -- some kind of dangling charm thing. And in addition to news about adorable pseudo-penguin styli, <em>Dengeki</em> has a <em>ton</em> of new screens! <br />
<br />
What would you have to do in life, we wonder, to be reincarnated not just as a Prinny, but as a piece of plastic shaped like a Prinny? And how would you earn your way back into the world -- would it be as simple as <em>never scratching the screen?</em> <br />

After all, the blocky character figures are easier to recreate on quilts and cookies than are more rounded models. Sprites also lend themselves well to cross stitch, as reader Jenni can testify. Jenni, who also writes for Gamertell, has built up quite a collection of character <a href="http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/tag/cross%20stitch/">cross stitch</a>, and many of her efforts feature characters Nintendo fans just might recognize. Hit up the gallery for some of her work -- and if you're interested in getting started yourself, Jenni has a good piece on <a href="http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/getting-into-video-game-cross-stitching">how to go about it</a>.<br />
<br />
Got something you want to show off to all the other DS fans? We like just about anything with a little Nintendo flavor, so snap a few pics and send 'em off to tell us what's up, and send it all to <strong>showmeit <strong>[at]</strong> dsfanboy [dot] com</strong>. We'll take care of the rest. <br />

<p>This weeks Fan Art Friday submission is so sexy that I'm going to play strip poker with it.. This submission comes from Yuji 28 Go and depicts characters from one of my all-time favorite games: Disgaea. Since we know Disgaea is coming to the PSP in the US at some point, this fan art seemd incredibly appropriate. The above image depicts Etna and one of her Prinnies. The image is even more impressive when you consider it was made on an Oekaki board. If you like the above image why don't you check out Yuji's <a href="http://yuji28go.deviantart.com/">Deviant Art</a> account and let him know what you think or just leave feedback in the comments section. Don't forget that next week I'd like to showcase one or more fan made versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/01/meet-psp-tan/">PSP-tan</a>, so send in your art before next week.</p>
