Information transferred to EA includes your Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language and date of birth."<br /><br />Not only does this confirm that Origin will be an integral part of playing EA games on Wii U, presumably in a similar fashion to its integration on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but also that Nintendo's friend codes of yore are being supplemented/replaced by something called a Nintendo Network ID. We've reached out to Nintendo for comment and will update as soon as we know more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/23/ea-privacy-policy-mentions-nintendo-network-id-origin-on-wii/">EA privacy policy mentions 'Nintendo Network ID,' Origin on Wii U</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2012 14:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/australians-might-want-to-pick-up-witcher-2-on-gog/"><img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/11/311073_530x298.jpg" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; width: 530px; height: 298px; " /></a></div>
In a fairly cheeky response to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/04/the-witcher-2-censored-slightly-for-australia/">Australian ratings board's censorship</a> of CD Projekt's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</em></a>, digital distributor GOG has <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_updates_privacy_policy_will_no_longer_use_geo_ip_to_determine_your_region/page1">updated its privacy policy</a> to allow users to decide their own location when making purchases, rather than having their location tracked by IP. Shoppers living in Australia can sidestep the censorship (as well as the bizarre price hike to $69.99 AUS that came about due to "licensing issues") by setting their country of origin as ... well, just about anywhere else.<br />
<br />
In a sly press release announcing the privacy policy change (posted after the jump), GOG Managing Director Guillaume Rambourg said the site "has always been about trusting the user," explaining, "We've come to the conclusion that there are a number of issues with using a customer's IP address to determine what offer they are being presented with from GOG.com." Well, to be fair, we'd consider "paying more money for a censored game" to be a <em>fairly troubling</em> issue.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/australians-might-want-to-pick-up-witcher-2-on-gog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Australians might want to pick up Witcher 2 on GOG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/australians-might-want-to-pick-up-witcher-2-on-gog/">Australians might want to pick up Witcher 2 on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 May 2011 13:35:00 EST.
