Here's the latest communique from the UK: <em>Medal of Honor</em> managed to premiere in the top spot of the UK sales chart, ousting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fifa-11"><em>FIFA 11</em></a>, which had a 65 percent drop in sales and slipped to second. Although <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=959&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a> won't share raw intel on sales figures, it claims <em>MoH</em> had the fourth and fifth biggest premieres for 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.<br />
<br />
<em>Just Dance 2</em>, the sequel to the unbelievably stalwart chart topper, debuted in third place. The original <em>Just Dance</em> has been the best selling game on one format in the UK this year and, even with its sequel out, still managed to secure a spot at #12 last week. This is only the seventh time since hitting the Wii-exclusive dance floor that the title has been out of the top ten.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Castlevania-Lords-of-Shadow/"><em>Castlevania: Lords of Shadow</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/enslaved-odyssey-to-the-west/"><em>Enslaved</em></a> both slipped four spots last week to tenth and eleventh, respectively. There's little hope that either of these <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-review/">quality</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/01/enslaved-review/">games</a> will hang around the top ten for more than a couple weeks, especially as the incoming competition keeps heating up. Check out the UK's top ten after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/18/medal-of-honor-claims-uk-sales-top-spot-just-dance-2-debuts-in/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Medal of Honor claims UK sales top spot; Just Dance 2 debuts in third</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/18/medal-of-honor-claims-uk-sales-top-spot-just-dance-2-debuts-in/">Medal of Honor claims UK sales top spot; Just Dance 2 debuts in third</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Oct 2010 10:18:00 EST. Look, we know you Europeans love your <strike>soccer</strike> football, but <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/konami-ships-3-million-for-pes-2010-launch">GI.biz</a> is reporting that Konami has shipped three million copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pro-evolution-soccer-2010/"><em>PES 2010</em></a> to the region today. <em>Three million</em> -- that's like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/september-npd-xbox-360-takes-the-lead-halo-3-to-thank/"><em>Halo 3</em> numbers</a>, people! <br /><br />While we're willing to bet you Euros are chomping at the bit for more pitch play, we're curious if <em>PES 2010</em> needs such a hefty initial shipment -- especially since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a> has been out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/ea-fifa-10-is-fastest-selling-sports-game-ever/">and selling really well</a>. Have footy fans had their needs fulfilled? Apparently not, since Konami expects the game to "become a million-selling title at launch."<br /><br />"Global sales for the <em>PES</em> series to date are over 55.5 million, and we expect a very strong performance from what is easily the best PES in a long, long time," says Martin Schneider, Konami's European marketing director. He credits the rise in quality and buzz to the latest iteration to the fans, whom he expects to stick around as Konami starts charging toward DLC for the game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/24/konami-extremely-confident-in-pes-2010-ships-3-million-to-europ/">Konami extremely confident in PES 2010, ships 3 million to Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Oct 2009 00:00:00 EST. Attention, footie fans, <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/09/17/demo-pes-2010-game.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has news from on high. That news is this: A demo for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/konami">Konami's</a> <em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2010</em> is now available on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Marketplace</a>. We don't know much about the demo, other than the fact that it features multiplayer as well as "incredibly detailed visuals and refined controls and skills." We also know it will eat up one whole gigabyte of your hard drive. Finally, and this is just a guess, the demo probably allows you to kick balls. Hard. Download and enjoy.<br />

While it's not clear if the <span>jettisoning</span> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Konami-ID/">Konami IDs</a> extends beyond the confines of <em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2010</em> and into Konami's corporate plans going forward, fans of the stalwart soccer franchise can breathe a sigh (of relief, this time!) as producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka <a href="http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/699233/Pro-Evolution-Soccer-2010-Dropping-Konami-ID-System-For-Multiplayer.html?utm_source=g4tv&amp;utm_medium=rssfeeds&amp;utm_campaign=TheFeed">told G4</a> that Konami's much maligned authentication system would not be appearing in PES 2010. "We got so many feedback from the users saying the same thing as you said," Takatsuka said, referring to the poor experience relayed to him. "So, we gave up the Konami ID system."<br /> <br /> That they gave up the system on <em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2010</em> is clear; whether all online-enabled Konami games in the future will abandon the redundant authentication system is still unclear. After a clumsy <em>Metal Gear Online</em> launch, thanks to the Konami ID servers crashing, and Kojima's impression that the system was "<a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/kojima-unhappy-with-metal-gear-online-admits-konami-id-not-wor/">not working well</a>," we're inclined to think we won't be seeing it on future Kojima Productions titles either. We've asked Konami to comment on Takatsuka's comment and clarify the status of the Konami ID system going forward.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/17/konami-producer-we-gave-up-the-konami-id-system/">Konami producer: 'we gave up the Konami ID system'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Sep 2009 15:40:00 EST.
