Those who participated in the Rise of the Warrior social game and were on the winning Spartan team for the game's first team challenge can check out the beta starting today. Losers on the Trojan team can check out the beta starting on December 16.

The multiplayer beta for God of War: Ascension is composed of two modes: team Favor of the Gods and free-for-all Favor of the Gods. These modes task teams and individuals with reaching a certain requisite number of points, "earning points via kills, bonus brutal kills, opening chests, capturing domination points, and, if you're skillful enough, performing executions using the Spear of Olympus," the PlayStation Blog reports. The map featured in the beta will be the Desert of Lost Souls, seen above.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, while initially fairly broken at launch, has since been patched to be a more balanced fighting experience.

The Vita PS Plus rollout will include access to an Instant Game Collection, a series of AAA titles available for download via the PlayStation Store. The Instant Game Collection will be accessible on November 20, when the PlayStation Store publishes.

Plus members will receive six games for the Vita: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! and PSP's Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.

Plus costs $18 for three months or $50 for a year, and those with a PS3 Plus membership automatically can use that on Vita, and vice versa. Plus also provides 1GB of cloud storage on PS3 and 1GB of cloud storage on the Vita.

We first heard that PS Plus would come to Vita this month during Tokyo Game Show in September.

Update: A press release from Sony confirms existing PS Plus subscribers on PS3 will get PS Vita membership gratis and new PS Plus subscribers on PS Vita will be able to access the PS3 bonuses. In addition to the savings, PS Plus members on Vita can send their saved game data to the cloud - 1GB total for PS3 saves and 1GB total for PS Vita saves.

No information was given regarding when the service would make the jump from console to handheld, or what offers will be used to entice new subscribers.

Additionally, it was announced that Plus' cloud storage limit will be increased from 150MB to 1GB. The increase will take place sometime before the end of the year in September, according to the PlayStation Blog.

It was also announced that Red Dead Redemption would be Europe's free PlayStation Plus game for the month for September, though it does not appear that North America will get the same deal.

Joining Sound Shapes are Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 ($50) and The King of Fighters XIII ($30). Payday: The Heist's Wolfpack DLC is out this week for $10 as well, and can be purchased with the game in a bundle for $20. Sound Shapes launches as part of the PSN Play promotion, which includes a bonus theme for those that pre-order Papo & Yo ($15), next week's PSN Play game. What's more, PS Plus members can do just that for 20% off.

The new version will supposedly offer free top-tier titles to subscribers in addition to PS Vita functionality. PS Vita users will also get platform-specific perks, apparently - exclusive games, DLC and cloud functionality. Sony's press conference kicks off on Monday, June 4 at 9pm ET.

Sony is focused on fixing this. "We are aware of the issue, and will resolve it as quickly as possible," a Sony spokesperson told Edge.

It appears Minis purchased outside from the PS Plus free-game deal work fine on the Vita, according to the thread. So, uh, take that, PS Plus members. We bet you're really regretting buying into that awesome exclusivity deal with Sony right about now, because you can't play your Minis and the problem will probably be fixed really soon. Yeah.

Sony is handing out a special Valentine's Day present for Plus members as well, with a free download of the complete Far Cry 2 game, the week of February 14.

The Simpsons Arcade will include four-player online co-op and will be available at no cost to Plus members from February 7-29 -- and yes, that's a whole extra day this year, probably to contain all of our nostalgic Simpsons love.

Sony's EU blog announced as much this morning, detailing the "Multiplayer Experience" as a chance for gamers in "Europe, South Africa, The Middle East, Australia and New Zealand" to check out U3's multiplayer -- post-beta -- for a full month before the game's early November launch. Don't fret, frugal non-PS Plus subscriber, as the announce additionally teases "other ways to gain access" to the multiplayer... thing via the PS blog and community forums.

Like the US version, participants will be able to carry over "key aspects" of their multiplayer experience to the retail version, such as XP. Other details are unfortunately scant, but Sony promises more soon.
