As with the PSN, XBLA and Steam versions, <em>Beat Hazard Ultra</em> uses music stored on your device to generate its levels. The game can also use streaming radio apps as its musical muse, a feature which is unique to this version.<br /><br /><em>Beat Hazard Ultra</em> supports Game Center leader boards and achievements, although the PSN version's online multiplayer fails to make the jump to iOS. Between Survival, Boss Rush and Chill Out modes, though, it certainly sounds like you'll get your dollar's worth out of the title, which happens to be the app's limited introductory price.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/">Beat Hazard Ultra (iPad)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/#4812161"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/bhu-ipad-shot-27_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/#4812162"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/bhu-ipad-shot-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/#4812163"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/bhu-ipad-shot-25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/#4812164"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/bhu-ipad-shot-24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beat-hazard-ultra-ipad/#4812165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/bhu-ipad-shot-23_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/11/beat-hazard-ultra-now-on-ios/">Beat Hazard Ultra now on iOS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Feb 2012 11:30:00 EST. Examples include "poke an otter with a stick", "deliver my pudding on a toy train", and "smile at some ladies (but not at the badgers!)" As all minigame collections do, this uses all of the Vita's control features.<br /><br />T@g is an AR app that lets you leave graffiti in real-world locations, which other Vita users can view through the app. Doing so earns you -- we can't believe we're about to type this -- currency called "t@ggits."<br /><br />Frobisher will be a free download for European pre-orderers this month, and be available for everyone else (in Europe) in May. T@g will be on PSN in Europe in May and can only be used with the 3G Vita (because of its GPS use).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/10/vitas-frobisher-says-and-t-g-detailed-free-in-europe/">Vita's Frobisher Says and T@g detailed, free in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Feb 2012 09:30:00 EST. According to posts on the <em>Gotham City Impostors</em> forums, some PS3 users are unable to unlock the full version of the game. Even after paying for the title, some find themselves stuck with the trial version.<br /><br />A forum administrator notes that Warner Bros. is working on the issue with Sony and asks that users experiencing the problem respond to <a href="http://www.gothamcityimpostors.com/forums/showthread.php/4373-Problems-with-PS3-Unlocking-Full-Game/">this thread</a> with their PSN ID and the country from which they are playing. In the meantime, if you haven't already purchased <em>Gotham City Impostors</em>, we'd recommend waiting until the issue is resolved.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/09/gotham-city-impostors-fails-to-unlock-for-some-ps3-players/">Gotham City Impostors fails to unlock for some PS3 players</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 17:55:00 EST. Obviously, it's a pretty hefty lineup, though some favorites are certainly missing, including <em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em>, <em>Valkyria Chronicles 2</em>, <em>Lumines</em> and others.<br /><br />That said, Sony promises more titles will be added in "the coming weeks." Head over to the US PlayStation Blog for the current list. And, before you ask, yes, <em>of course</em> <em>Dragon's Lair</em> is compatible.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> A couple of industry tweets reveal that some games not mentioned on the official list are already compatible with the Vita, notably <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/uncyrus/status/167699282227511297"><em>Valkyria Chronicles 2</em></a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/dylancuthbert/status/147850180585193472/photo/1"><em>PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe</em></a>. It would appear that Sony's official list may not be entirely comprehensive. Then again, the public won't actually get its hands on the Vita for another week, so maybe there's still some tweaking going on.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/09/here-are-the-psp-games-that-will-work-on-vita-at-launch/">Here are the PSP games that will work on Vita at launch [update: more compatible games spotted]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:30:00 EST. The available Vita games mirror those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/08/first-party-vita-games-now-available-at-gamestop/">already available in meatspace</a> from GameStop and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/08/some-vita-games-already-available-through-ps3-in-us/">online via PS3</a> (<em>Hot Shots Golf, ModNation Racers, Super Stardust, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048</em>), while the PSP games and video content mirror the other PS Store content.<br /><br />We also managed to get an online game going with <em>Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3</em>, so it looks like at least some of the online infrastructure is now live (the game was directly between two Vitas over the internet, but we had issues searching for public lobbies). If you're one of the lucky few within the US who already has a Vita, now would be a good time to claim an extremely limited opportunity at topping the leaderboards, not to mention beating us handily at <em>UMvC3</em>.<br /><br />[Image above features Japanese PS Vita Store]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/09/us-playstation-vita-now-able-to-access-playstation-store-if-you/">US PlayStation Vita now able to access PlayStation Store (if you have one)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 11:30:00 EST. For starters, HD remasters of the first three games in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/jak-and-daxter-collection-hits-na-feb-7-europe-feb-22/">Jak and Daxter series</a> are now available at $15 each, or you can grab the whole collection for $40. <em>The Simpsons Arcade Game</em> also makes its long-awaited debut. It's currently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/31/the-simpsons-arcade-is-free-in-february-for-ps-plusers-feel-the/">free for PlayStation Plus subscribers</a> and $10 for everyone else. <em>Gotham City Impostors</em> also makes its debut, including both a free demo and the full version for $15.<br /><br />Other noteworthy additions include a full game download of <em>Catherine</em> and some new DLC for <em>Uncharted 3</em>, <em>Final Fantasy XIII-2</em> and <em>Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3</em>. Oh, there's also quite a bit of DLC for <em>UFC Undisputed 3</em>, just in case you'd like to load up on that before the game actually comes out <em>next week</em>. The selection of early, hidden releases includes <em>Uncharted: Golden Abyss</em> (which is not discounted at all at $49.99), <em>Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational</em> for $35.99, <em>Wipeout 2048</em> for $35.99, <em>ModNation Racers Road Trip</em> for $26.99, and the PSN-only <em>Super Stardust Delta</em> for $9.99.<br /><br />Sure, you probably don't have a Vita yet, but don't let that stop you from building up a library. Then, when the system does arrive (or if you have one right now!) you can use the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/23/gallery-how-the-ps-vita-and-ps3-connect-to-transfer-data/">Content Manager Assistant</a> to transfer the games to that huge memory card you'd better buy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/08/some-vita-games-already-available-through-ps3-in-us/">Some Vita games already available through PS3 in US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Feb 2012 10:00:00 EST. Just in time for you and your sweetheart to blow apart a few zombie heads, the game will be available for $6.99. For the next two weeks following its release, a free avatar will be included with purchase, making it a little like getting a Kit Kat bar with your very own Whitman's Sampler.<br /><br />PlayStation Plus members have an even better deal: They'll be able to get <em>House of the Dead 3</em> for 30% off until February 28, and will also get an exclusive theme and a few more avatars with the title. And starting today, PS Plus members can download the demo of the game, an exclusive that lasts until February 21.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/07/house-of-the-dead-3-on-psn-next-week-demo-out-now-for-ps-plus/">House of the Dead 3 on PSN next week, demo out now for PS Plus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Feb 2012 23:00:00 EST. If you meet all three conditions, a special "Valentines Day Demo" of the pheromone shooter <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/gal-gun"><em>Gal Gun</em></a> awaits you on February 14. Take advantage of the PS3's region free gameplay and easy downloading of import demos! The first <em>Sanctum</em>, which has sold over 300,000 units on Steam, was a PC-exclusive title. The sequel is planned for PC and "digital console platforms," with Xbox Live and PSN specifically mentioned.<br /><br />"<em>Sanctum</em> has been a huge success on Steam for Coffee Stain Studios, and bringing the next version to console players as well as the PC market is a great next step to share this unique experience," said Ted Lange, executive producer for Reverb Publishing. "We all have logged quite a few hours with <em>Sanctum</em> and can definitively say that what Coffee Stain has in store for <em>Sanctum 2</em> will blow the minds of <em>Sanctum</em> fans and new gamers alike."<br /><br />Beyond revealing the title to us, along with a release year, details are still tight on <em>Sanctum 2</em>. Doug Kennedy, CEO of Reverb Publishing, told us, "The team is diligently working to get the title ready."<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: After receiving updated information, altered 2012 launch window to 2013.<br /><br /><strong>Update 2</strong>: <em>Sanctum</em> is <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/91600/">$3.39 on Steam today</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/06/sanctum-2-defends-pc-consoles-in-2012/">Sanctum 2 defends PC, consoles in 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 09:00:00 EST. Your account will still function in an identical fashion and it will not be necessary to change your username or password; the PSN itself remains unaltered.<br /><br />"The goal is for there to be one networked log-in for all Sony services," a Sony spokesperson told us after news of the switch made its way to <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=461878">neoGAF</a>. "Changing the name 'PlayStation Network account' to 'Sony Entertainment Network account' helps clarify the unity between PSN and other Sony Entertainment Network services." The change does not apply to the PSP, so users will still see "PlayStation Network account" when logging on with that device.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/04/psa-psn-accounts-changing-to-sony-entertainment-network-account/">PSA: PSN accounts changing to Sony Entertainment Network accounts Feb. 8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Feb 2012 20:30:00 EST. If the maintenance carries over to the US (and it usually does), it'll start at 6AM PST Thursday until midnight PST, or 9AM to 3AM for those of you on the East Coast.<br /><br />Fortunately, the outage doesn't seem to include gameplay -- Sony says that it will only affect the PS Store, Customer Account Management and Registration services. PlayStation Home, however, will be offline the entire time. So ... that doesn't sound so bad! Just pour yourself a cup of tea, grab something good to read and wrap yourself in a warm blanket, and the outage will be over before you know it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/01/psn-maintenance-starts-this-thursday-at-9am-est-through-friday/">PSN maintenance starts this Thursday at 9am EST, through Friday morning</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. Or ... not really combat with <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/puddle"><em>Puddle</em></a>.<br /><br />You can also download <em>Madden NFL 12</em> -- just in time for the Super Bowl! That's about all the detail we have on that project, other than that Chan is working as lead designer -- as this information is straight from Chan's resume. Of course, judging by Harmonix's history, it'll either be a music game or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EyeToy:_AntiGrav">motion-controlled hoverboarding</a>.<br /><br />Harmonix was reticent about the project when we asked, unable to give us a clear answer due to the positioning of tongue in cheek. "As we've stated before," a representative told Joystiq, "our studio is growing and hard at work on a variety of titles. In a storied Harmonix tradition, our designers start working on those games before they're publicly announced." Harmonix will have more information "in the coming months, probably via a LinkedIn update or something - we haven't decided."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/30/harmonix-working-on-unannounced-xbla-psn-and-facebook-game/">Harmonix working on unannounced XBLA, PSN and Facebook game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jan 2012 16:30:00 EST. Since then, PSN has garnered more than 77 million users worldwide, introduced PlayStation Plus, and now offers original content, TV shows, movies and even <em>games</em>.<br /><br />Panico oversaw the implementation of all these features, consistently emphasizing the larger entertainment scope of PSN and attempting to expand its audience base with original programming such as PULSE and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-tester">The Tester</a>.<br /><br />Panico also ran damage control during 2011's PSN hack, after which Sony gave away free games and a massive amount of apologies.<br /><br />Sony Computer Entertainment America's Patrick Seybold confirmed Panico's departure, but there is no word yet on a replacement or Panico's own future plans.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/30/psn-north-american-senior-director-susan-panico-leaves-sony/">PSN North American Senior Director Susan Panico leaves Sony</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jan 2012 14:30:00 EST. The unit now ships with a crucial 8GB memory card, a free month of "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/22/vitas-atandt-data-plan-pricing-structure-pulls-a-switcheroo/">DataConnect</a>" 3G access (or 250MB, whichever comes first, a $15 value) and, as part of signing up for the DataConnect service, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/playstation-vita-data-plans-for-us-revealed/">free PSN game</a>.<br /><br />Right now, Amazon is the only place we've seen this specific offer. We're checking in with Sony to determine whether this offer applies to 3G/wi-fi Vitas sold elsewhere. However, it's a sticker on the box art shown on Amazon (above). That doesn't look retailer-specific.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/27/ps-vita-3g-purchases-include-free-data-8gb-memory-card-at-amazo/">PS Vita 3G purchases include free data, 8GB memory card at Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Jan 2012 14:30:00 EST. That's the premise of <em>Warp</em>, though that wasn't the case from the beginning.<br /> <br /> "The inception point had nothing to do with stealth," Trapdoor founder Ken Schacter told me during the demo. So here we are, with a list of 2011's top sellers on the PlayStation Network ... and we've got two lists dominated by one game from 1985, and one from 2010.<br /><br />Speaking only in terms of <em>full games</em>, not "paid downloads" (like DLC packs for <em>Black Ops</em>) and PS Minis, the list is a hodgepodge of nostalgia-fueled favorites from yesteryear (like <em>Tetris</em> in its curiously lofty number one spot<em>)</em>, and digitally distributed future-classics like <em>Castle Crashers</em> and <em>Limbo</em>, which ranked in at six and seven respectively. There's on important thread tying those together: none of those games launched in 2011.<br /><br />When <em>all</em> digital sales are taken into account, however, the list becomes an entirely different beast, and the only actual game present within the top 10 is <em>Angry Birds</em>, of all things (a PS Mini). In fact, the three best-selling anythings on the PlayStation Network in 2011 were <em>Black Ops</em> DLC packs, followed closely by a cavalcade of <em>FIFA Soccer 12</em> and <em>MLB 11</em> sundries. At least the DLC came out in 2011! Hop past the break for the full breakdown of both lists, care of <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/01/23/the-best-selling-psn-games-of-2011.aspx">Game Informer</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/psns-best-selling-games-of-2011-list-dominated-by-games-not-fro/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSN's best selling games of 2011 list dominated by games not from 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/psns-best-selling-games-of-2011-list-dominated-by-games-not-fro/">PSN's best selling games of 2011 list dominated by games not from 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Jan 2012 15:30:00 EST. There's a simple way to settle that dispute: by downloading the free demo, available now on Xbox Live and later today on PSN.<br /><br />The demo allows you to experience "a fantasy UFC matchup between current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva," along with a "classic" PRIDE Mode match between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (otherwise known as B.A. Baracus from the recent <em>A-Team</em> movie) and Wanderlei Silva.<br /><br />If Undisputed turns out to be a "fantasy matchup" with you, you can get the full version on February 14.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/ufc-undisputed-3-demo-on-xbox-now-ps3-today/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>UFC Undisputed 3 demo on Xbox now, PS3 today</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/ufc-undisputed-3-demo-on-xbox-now-ps3-today/">UFC Undisputed 3 demo on Xbox now, PS3 today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Jan 2012 10:00:00 EST. Considering the blockbuster third entry in the series is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/15/psa-grand-theft-auto-3-now-available-on-ios-android/">available on iOS and Android</a>, word of it coming to the PS3 isn't the craziest news we've heard about the classic title in recent memory.<br /><br />The third entry in the <em>GTA3</em> series, <em>Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas</em>, still doesn't have a PS3 listing from the ESRB, so we aren't sure if it's just cruisin' in later for a drive-by or part of what's likely Rockstar adding the two other games to PSN for digital distribution. Of course, if you own a first-gen PS3, your system is backwards-compatible and should have no issue playing the original PlayStation 2 discs (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/gta-iv-surpasses-22m-shipped-franchise-at-114m-total/">chances are you already own them</a>).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/23/grand-theft-auto-3-and-gta-vice-city-rated-by-esrb-for-ps3/">Grand Theft Auto 3 and GTA: Vice City rated by ESRB for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jan 2012 08:53:00 EST. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, friends.<br /><br />Well, the fact that <em>Sonic CD</em> is arguably the best 2D Sonic game of all time probably has something to do with it too, but we all know most of us bought it just to hear <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPyOLV_rGo8">Sonic Boom</a> again. Konami announced plans to release the XBLA version in North America on that date, followed by PSN one week later.<br /><br /><em>Puddle</em> involves tilting the environment -- a human body, a blueprint, etc. -- to guide a small amount of liquid, such as water or rocket fuel, to its destination. It features a nice bit of real-world integration and a sort of augmented reality, in that talking about it totally makes you have to pee.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/">Puddle (1/20/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/#4766839"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/puddlehumanbody1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/#4766840"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/puddlelaboratory5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/#4766841"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/puddlenuclearpowerplant8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/#4766842"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/puddlenuclearpowerplant12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puddle-1-20-12/#4766843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/puddlerocket2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/konami-decants-puddle-onto-xbla-and-psn-this-january/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Konami decants Puddle onto XBLA and PSN this January</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/konami-decants-puddle-onto-xbla-and-psn-this-january/">Konami decants Puddle onto XBLA and PSN this January</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jan 2012 20:00:00 EST. Aware that the main knock against the first game was its repetition, Cheng and the rest of the development team decided to rethink their approach to the design.<br /><br />"When we started work on <em>Shank</em>, we had never built a brawler or fighting game before," Cheng told me. "We tried to provide the best scenario possible, but when we looked at the game as a whole, we realized that a lot of the scenarios tended to repeat themselves."<br /><br />As a result, Cheng said, the team decided to take a more holistic approach to the design of <em>Shank 2</em>. Enemies have been designed in such a way that they can't be defeated using the same tactics, and the mechanics have been tweaked. Blocking, meanwhile, has been removed entirely, which makes the combat flow even better and helps emphasize dodge rolls and the new counters.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/shank-2-building-a-better-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Building a better game in Shank 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/shank-2-building-a-better-game/">Building a better game in Shank 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jan 2012 18:00:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/shank-2"><em>Shank 2</em></a> will leap onto, shoot, stab, stab, shoot, slice, throw a grenade at, and shoot digital platforms starting February 7, when it arrives on PSN and PC in North America. The worldwide XBLA release, along with the European PSN version, will follow on February 8. The price is set for $10, &euro; 9.99, or 800 Microsoft Points, depending on your choice of platform and continent.<br />
<br />
<em>Shank 2's</em> marquee feature is a new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/29/shank-2-back-for-more/">co-op survival mode</a> that pits two players against a never-ending supply of enemies, so start looking for a friend with the same violent predilections you have.<br />
<br />
... Actually, when we put it that way, that sounds like a bad idea.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/19/shank-2-cuts-in-on-february-7-in-north-america-february-8-in-eu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Shank 2 cuts in on February 7 in North America, February 8 in Europe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/19/shank-2-cuts-in-on-february-7-in-north-america-february-8-in-eu/">Shank 2 cuts in on February 7 in North America, February 8 in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jan 2012 10:30:00 EST. <em>Rocksmith</em></a> DLC takes a trip through time this week, with a trio of songs from the 60s and 70s. David Bowie's "Space Oddity," Heart's "Barracuda," and Blue Oyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) the Reaper" have all been released as new downloadable content. The songs can be had for $3 apiece on either PSN or Xbox Live.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/rocksmith-dlc-dont-fear-the-barracuda-swimming-through-the-spa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rocksmith DLC: Don't Fear the Barracuda swimming through the Space Oddity</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/rocksmith-dlc-dont-fear-the-barracuda-swimming-through-the-spa/">Rocksmith DLC: Don't Fear the Barracuda swimming through the Space Oddity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. Video games, in general, require that we suspend our disbelief to some degree. We can forgive the unbelievable or the improbable so long as the experience remains entertaining. Games are full of trivial details that make no sense -- eating food magically heals wounds, a three-foot tall wall is insurmountable by a grown adult, etc. -- but we overlook these small annoyances for the sake of enjoyment.<br />
<br />
The thesis of <em>Amy</em>, based on my experience, is very simple: Take every one of those annoyances and build an entire game out of them.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/amy-8-22-11/">Amy (8/22/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/amy-8-22-11/#4385209"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/amypublic11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/amy-8-22-11/#4385210"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/amypublic12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/amy-8-22-11/#4385211"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/amypublic13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/amy-8-22-11/#4385212"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/amypublic151_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/amy-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Amy review: Survival boredom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/amy-review/">Amy review: Survival boredom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Jan 2012 13:30:00 EST. <br />
Indian studio Version 2 Games will bring a new PSN title to PS3 on February 9: <em>Smash 'n' Survive</em>, a game based on the life of comedian Gallagher. Oh, no, sorry, it's actually a car combat game.<br />
<br />
Players choose one of 30 "brutal concept cars, including muscle, agile, monster, buggy and SUV vehicles," and race across a selection of ten maps, attempting to destroy one another with flamethrowers, "magneto pulsars," and other exotic implements. Game modes like group derby, "plant the bomb," and team modes will help vary the gameplay, though we assume it'll still be about smashing other cars.<br />
<br />
Smash 'n' Survive will include single-player and two-player split screen modes at launch; online play for six players will be smashed into it in a free update this April.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/">Smash 'n Survive (PS3)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/#4760241"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/snscars-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/#4760242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/snscars-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/#4760244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/snscars-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/#4760245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/snscars-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/smash-n-survive-ps3/#4760246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/snsdes-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/smash-n-survive-collides-with-psn-this-february/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Smash 'N' Survive collides with PSN this February</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/18/smash-n-survive-collides-with-psn-this-february/">Smash 'N' Survive collides with PSN this February</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Jan 2012 12:30:00 EST. <div>
	Sorry, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/disney-universe"><em>Disney Universe</em></a> Jungle Book costume DLC pack, but what are you doing? <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TaleSpin">TaleSpin</a></em> is still the coolest thing to come out of the Jungle Book setting. Yes, the little costumes in this three-buck pack -- featuring man-cub Mowgli, Shere Khan the tiger, Louie the ape, Bagheera the panther and a baby elephant -- are cute, and kids will probably love them.<br />
	<br />
	But nothing compares to the classic early '90s cartoon series that re-imagined the lovable Baloo as a down-on-his-luck seaplane pilot, Louie as the owner of his favorite watering hole (get it?), and Shere Khan as a sharply-dressed and golden-voiced <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTOUe9pI4kk&amp;feature=related">business cat</a>. Until you've got elements that play on <em>Cheers</em>, old adventure movies, and an alternate postware timeline, you just enjoy your lower place on the list of cool Jungle Book tie-ins.</div>

OK, let's see if we can encapsulate all the stuff on PSN today. Retail games <em>Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Crysis 2, Rainbow Six: Vegas</em>, and <em>Splinter Cell: Double Agent</em> are now downloadable. <em>Amy</em> and PSN-exclusive <em>Zack Zero</em> launched. <em>Uncharted 3 </em>DLC brings four additional multiplayer maps.<br />
<br />
Discounts on existing PSN content include the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/16/12-for-12-sale-offers-30-50-off-great-psn-titles/">12 for 12 sale</a> and half off all of the "Neo Geo Station" content -- including the bundle pack containing <em>all of it</em>.<br />
<br />
In the world of free content, a timely demo for <em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em> joins an oddly timed demo for <em>Castlevania: Harmony of Despair</em>. You can check the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/01/17/playstation-store-update-222/">PlayStation Blog</a> for the expansive list of PSN content this week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/17/psn-tuesday-ico-shadow-of-the-colossus-uncharted-3-dlc/">PSN Tuesday: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted 3 DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jan 2012 20:00:00 EST.
