<div style="text-align: left;"><strong>Update:</strong> As some commenters have pointed out, it looks like the deals are no longer available. We hope you managed to snag one.<br />
 </div>
We bet you were really hoping to not spend an extra five dollars today. We're sure you thought to yourself that you've got plenty of games to play and, honestly, what could you buy with five bucks anyway? The answer: <em>Worms 2: Armageddon</em> on Xbox Live Arcade. The good people at <a href="http://www.cheapcollegegamers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4881">CheapCollegeGamers</a> have uncovered a pair of great deals on Amazon. First and foremost, <em>Worms 2</em> is available for a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002EAYCIA/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">paltry $5</a>, fifty percent off the usual $10 price tag. If you don't have it already, it would be crazy <em>not</em> to buy it at that price.<br />
<br />
Amazon is also offering <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em> at a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0021L8MDS/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">discounted price of $10</a>, half of the normal $20 cost. Granted, it's not quite as easy to recommend <em>Galactrix</em> as <em>Worms 2</em>, but $10 is a <em>much</em> more palatable price. Now go buy <em>Worms 2</em>.<br />

As exciting as the prospect of <em>Puzzle Quest in Space</em> might have been, the excitement offered by <em>Galactrix</em> was completely derailed by the game's <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">outrageously lengthy load times</a>. However, in <a href="http://kotaku.com/5416076/no-loading-time-problems-for-ds-sequel?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+kotaku%2Ffull+%28Kotaku%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader"><a href="http://kotaku.com/5416076/no-loading-time-problems-for-ds-sequel?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+kotaku%2Ffull+%28Kotaku%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">a recent interview with Kotaku</a></a>, D3 Publisher's Michael Cerven claimed that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/puzzle-quest-2-coming-to-ds-xbla-in-spring-2010/">recently announced <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em></a> won't be plagued by the frequent intermissions, as developer Infinite Interactive "rebuilt the DS engine from the ground up to be fast and perform smoothly with very quick load times as opposed to retrofitting the lead SKU code for the DS."<br />
<br />
If Cerven's claims are true, we suppose this is good news for the impatient puzzle-solvers out there. However, we got <em>so much stuff</em> done during <em>Galactrix</em>'s near-constant loading screens. We even learned to speak Esperanto! <em>Ĉi tiu estas rakonto pri videoludoj!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/d3-publisher-puzzle-quest-2-wont-have-galactrixs-load-time-is/">D3 Publisher: Puzzle Quest 2 won't have Galactrix's load time issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 15:40:00 EST. RPG story-telling meets space combat ... meets Trophies. However, although the game is $20, don't expect a Platinum out of this one.<br /><br />

<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</a> </span>makes its PSN debut this week in the US, no doubt intending to feed off the free publicity from the new <span style="font-style: italic;">Star Trek </span>movie. Other than that, there's a <span style="font-style: italic;">lot</span> of new DLC for many different titles, as well as three new PS1 games and even a few full PSP games. What is this, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/05/07/european-psn-releases-for-may-7">Europe</a>?<br /></div>

The <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/05/05/puzzle-quest-galactrix-hits-psn-this-thursday-may-7th/">PlayStation Blog</a> has sent a sub-space transmission that <em>Puzzle Quest: </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/galactrix"><em>Galactrix</em></a> will materialize on the service this Thursday, May 7, for $20. The <em>Puzzle Quest</em> sequel arrived earlier this year on other platforms to <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/search/process?sb=0&amp;tfs=all&amp;ts=galactrix&amp;ty=0&amp;x=15&amp;y=8">mixed reviews</a> -- with the DS version having its own <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">special loading issues</a>.<br /><br />So, take a spin around the galaxy this Thursday, and hopefully the jumpgate hacking missions won't make you experience <em>Galactrix</em>'s patented brand of frustration.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/puzzle-quest-galactrix-jumps-onto-psn-this-week/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix jumps onto PSN this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 17:45:00 EST. For those of you out there that decided to pick up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em></a> this week, you might be interested to know that you can square off with the developers tonight on Xbox Live. For your chance to play, simply send a friend request to one or all of the gamertags below. The developers will be on Xbox Live starting at 8:00pm Eastern Time and will be playing until 10:00pm. According to the event details on the 360 dashboard, you should be ready to play within half an hour of the event. All that's left is to hope you get an invite from one of the developers.<br /><br />If you <em>do</em> get to play with a developer, do us a favor and ask what's up with the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">load times on the DS version</a>.<br />

The good news: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/flock">Flock</a> </em>and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em></a> are both headed to Xbox Live Arcade this week. The bad news: They will cost you not only an arm, but also a leg to obtain. <em>Flock </em>clocks in at 1200<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />, while <em>Galactrix </em>will set you back two <a href="http://www.hulu.com/watch/1397/saturday-night-live-snl-digital-short-lazy-sunday#s-p1-sa-i1">Hamiltons</a> (aka 1600<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />). If you can live without a couple appendages -- what with computers doing everything these days, you probably can -- you can enjoy the space-faring successor to <em>Puzzle Quest</em> and ... erm ... a UFO-enabled herding sim. Herding is more fun than it sounds, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/ps3-fanboy-hands-on-flock/">trust us</a>.<br />

We take no pleasure in admitting that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</a> </em>on the DS was a poorly designed, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">loading-time-riddled</a> heart breaker. So, it's with no small amount of trepidation and a modicum of hope that we report the XBLA version of the game will arrive on April 8 for <strike>an undisclosed price</strike>. [<strong>Update: </strong>Just heard back from D3. <em>Galactrix </em>will run you 1600 points, or $20.]<br /><br />Though its DS counterpart hurt us and hurt us badly, we're hoping that the XBLA version fares much, much better. We're not sure all the problems can be fixed by porting the game to a different box, but we'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 10:14:00 EST. Xbox Live figurehead Major Nelson recently updated his blog with the titillating <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/03/05/the-days-of-arcade-are-coming.aspx">announcement</a> of a six-week long promotion titled the "Days of Arcade." Similar to last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/summer-of-arcade-behind-xblas-best-month-yet/">"Summer of Arcade" event</a>, the promotion will kick off March 18 with the release of <em>Hasbro Family Game Night</em>, with the following five weeks bringing a number of highly anticipated titles to the Marketplace, including <em>The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai</em>, <em>Flock</em>, <em>Outrun Online Arcade</em>, <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em>, <em>UNO Rush</em> and Tozai Games' remake of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/21/gc-2008-lode-runner-xbla-remake-coming-soon/"><em>Lode Runner</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Aside from <em>Game Night</em>, we won't know which games are coming which weeks until Major Nelson announces them on the Mondays preceeding their Wednesday releases. However, as the keen-eyed mathmaticians among you have already noticed, with seven titles dropping in six weeks, one <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA Wednesday</a> will bring us a double dose of downloadable distractions. We've already canceled our Spring Break excursion to Cabo San Lucas in a fit of breathless anticipation.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/days-of-arcade-promotion-coming-to-xbla-march-18-lode-runner-s/">Days of Arcade promotion coming to XBLA March 18; Lode Runner, six other titles coming soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 12:35:00 EST. Considering our outrageous, unslakable handheld lust for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Puzzle%20Quest%3A%20Challenge%20of%20the%20Warlords">Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</a></em>, we didn't think anything could keep us from diving back into our dual-screened device for a go at <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Galactrix/">Galactrix</a></em> -- though a report from MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo is giving us slight cause for concern. According to Totes, <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/02/27/game-diary-february-27-2009-bad-puzzle-quest-news/">the DS version of the game suffers from "surprisingly long load times."</a> Yes, he said the DS version -- not the Commodore 64 version. We were confused at first as well.<br /><br />Totilo said that the four to five-second load times occur before each puzzle, during mission selection and when checking inventory. Doesn't sound like much, but as he assures us, "it adds up." Anyone else notice their precious seconds being squandered whilst participating in some interplanetary gem-swapping?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">MTV's Totilo: DS version of Galactrix plagued by load times</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 16:30:00 EST. Much like Xbox.com's fiction about an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/also-this-wednesday-exit-2-escapes-to-xbla/"><em>Exit 2</em></a> release today, it was apparently also being a lying liar telling fibs about <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix"><em>Galactrix</em></a>'s release next week. <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/02/18/puzzle-quest-galactrix-not-confirmed-for-xbox-live-arcade-next-week/">Siliconera</a> spoke to a representative for redundant publisher, D3 Publisher, which informed the site it had "not confirmed" a date for the XBLA version of the crack-infused RPG puzzler.<br /><br />Sure enough, changing from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/xbox-com-lists-puzzle-quest-galactrix-for-feb-25/">yesterday</a>, the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">Xbox.com page</a> now notes that <em>Galactrix</em>'s release is T and B to the D (i.e. to be determined). Xbox.com has <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">updated</a> its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">previous listing</a> of <em>Puzzle Quest <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix">Galactrix</a></em> to note a February 25 release date. If this date holds, it means the XBLA version will not require a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/this-wednesday-puzzle-quest-and-toyota-advergame-hit-xbla/">six-month wait</a> again, arriving in XBLA's virtual retail space around the same time as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">DS</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">PC</a> versions.<br /><br />We contacted publisher D3 and the company could not confirm the date nor pricing at this time. For those who still haven't tried <em>Galactrix</em>, the follow-up to multi-platform sleeper hit <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a></em>, there's always the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Flash-based demo</a> available. However, we recommend anyone with addictive personality traits not come within a parsec of the title.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/02/puzzle_quest_galactrix_confirm.php">GameBytes</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/xbox-com-lists-puzzle-quest-galactrix-for-feb-25/">Xbox.com lists Puzzle Quest Galactrix for Feb. 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 14:45:00 EST. <div align="left">What? The public being allowed into a game's launch event? We've never heard of such a thing. Okay, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/psa-street-fighter-iv-launch-party-open-to-the-public/">maybe we have</a>. So has D3 Publisher, who is going to let the first 100 Joystiq readers that RSVP to <a href="mailto:PQGalactrixRSVP@d3p.us">PQGalactrixRSVP@d3p.us</a> celebrate the release of its latest <strike>controlled substance</strike> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em></a>.<br /><br />The event is being held in <strong>Los Angeles </strong>on Thursday, February 19 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. -- so bear that in mind before emailing. The stars are pointing to an almost simultaneous release of <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> on DS, PC and XBLA; currently, the Xbox 360 version is the only one not "officially" confirmed. <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/02/puzzle_quest_galactrix_coming.php">GamerBytes</a> noticed earlier today that Xbox.com listed a February 24 release date for the RPG puzzle title. The page is, as of this writing, still <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">live with the date</a>. Of course, a problem with that release date is that it marks a Tuesday ... which doesn't really fit in with that whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblawednesday/">Xbox Live Arcade <em>Wednesday</em></a> thing. Oh yeah, also, it says "2/24/2008," which would be last year.<br /><br />Publisher Aspyr has <a href="http://www.aspyr.com/software/news/104/258">confirmed</a> the Feb. 24 PC release date, which follows the confirmation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">DS</a> date a couple of weeks ago. By Grabthar's hammer, we hope <em>Galactrix</em> hits that Wednesday. We'd rather avoid another <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/this-wednesday-puzzle-quest-and-toyota-advergame-hit-xbla/">six-month wait</a> like we endured with the original <em>Puzzle Quest</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">Galactrix coming to PC on Feb. 24, XBLA date unconfirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 15:55:00 EST. D3Publisher announced today that <em>Puzzle Quest: <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix">Galactrix</a></em> will jump into retail on stardate 62402.24 (February 24, 2009). Demos are currently playable on PC in both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Flash-based</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-pc-demo-at-big-download/">downloadable</a> form. Versions for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC are planned for "early 2009." <br /><br />We've sent Bothans to gather more intel on a specific release date for our home systems, because like our obsession with <em>The Real Housewives of Orange County</em>, we prefer to keep our gem-shifting vice behind-closed-doors.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix warps onto DS Feb. 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 19:06:00 EST. Forget that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Flash demo</a>. The real demo of D3Publisher's space-ified <em>Puzzle Quest</em> follow-up, <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em>, is available exclusively at our PC-crazed sister-site, Big Download. The 132MB download excludes fancy features like "saving" and "having more than five levels" but at $0, the price is certainly right. If the taste is to your liking, look to the stars for the full meal in February. <br /><br />

As hinted by the official <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> <a href="http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/">flash demo</a>, the game has been confirmed by D3Publisher (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/puzzle-quest-galactrix-heading-to-psn">Eurogamer</a>) to have a planned release on the PSN. <em>Galactrix</em> will be similar to the original <em>Challenge Of The Warlords</em> in terms of gameplay, but will feature a science fiction setting, rather than a fantasy one. If you haven't played <em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em> yet, be sure to give it a go. You've no excuse really, it's on practically every system available.<br /><br />Currently price and release date info is a mystery, but <em>Galactrix</em> is supposed to release around March.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-boldly-going-to-psn/">Puzzle Quest Galactrix boldly going to PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 11:15:00 EST. This Flash demo will give you a pretty good idea of what playing the DS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/10/puzzle-quest-galactrailer/"><em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em></a> will be like, except that the DS one will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/ds-version-of-galactrix-missing-online-play/">look different</a>, cost money, and last longer. <em>Playing </em>the thing will explain the concepts of the game a lot better than we can. Even the pre-demo instructions seemed complicated (and we've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/gdc08-hands-almost-on-with-puzzle-quest-galactrix/"><em>seen the game before</em></a>), until we started playing, at which point we just got it immediately.<br /><br />We wanted to complete the demo, so we could take in the entirety of the presentation before reporting it for you, but that's just not going to happen right now. In fact, we're going to go ahead and proclaim that it's impossible to beat General Tarn or whatever, and also that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/01/puzzle-quests-ai-doesnt-cheat-but-you-can/">game is cheating</a> and it's totally not fair.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/you-should-probably-play-this-galactrix-demo/">You should probably play this Galactrix demo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 11:30:00 EST. A Flash demo is <a href="http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/">available now</a> for those looking to try <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s sci-fi follow-up, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix"><em>Galactrix</em></a>. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/20/joystiq-e3-hands-on-puzzle-quest-galactrix/">rules may be slightly different</a> (the no extra turn for 4-of-a-kind is a doozy), but be warned, star gazing gem shifters: the refined spice which made the fantasy realm of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> so addictive is still quite potent in this new form. <br /><br /><em>Galactrix</em> is expected to arrive the relatively near future for Nintendo DS, PC, XBLA and PSN. The demo doesn't seem to take prisoners, so hit the enemy with lasers and use shields when opportunity allows.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2009/01/19/puzzle-quest-galactrix-demo-trialable-online/">X3F</a>, <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74956">Evil Avatar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Resistance is futile: Puzzle Quest Galactrix launches Flash demo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 18:59:00 EST. <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> takes the fantasy world of the original <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> and injects it with a healthy dose of sci-fi. The "match three" gameplay is still present, as are the RPG elements, and it all comes together in a <em>Puzzle Quest </em>experience for those who prefer interstellar drama over orcs and goblins.<br /><br />We're going to write the rest of this hands-on with the idea that the reader has played the original <em>Puzzle Quest</em>, because if they haven't, they should go out and rent/buy it right now. For those who played the first <em>Puzzle Quest</em> and didn't like it, <em>Galactrix</em> won't convert them, unless the sci-fi concept is the only thing they felt was missing from the original.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/20/joystiq-e3-hands-on-puzzle-quest-galactrix/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq E3 hands-on: Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/20/joystiq-e3-hands-on-puzzle-quest-galactrix/">Joystiq E3 hands-on: Puzzle Quest Galactrix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Jul 2008 13:30:00 EST. With very few explosions, no dialogue, and the repetitive swapping of multi-hued bricks, the odds are somewhat against them. If you never played the first <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Puzzle%20Quest">Puzzle Quest</a></em>, the above trailer will probably look as bland as eating toast at a Kenny G concert -- however, those who have gemswapped their way through the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puzzle_Quest:_Challenge_of_the_Warlords"><em>Challenge of the Warlords</em></a> understand the fancy-tickling capacity of <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/13/puzzle-quest-galactrix-video-release-q109/">this debut <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em> trailer</a>. With looks at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/gdc08-hands-almost-on-with-puzzle-quest-galactrix/">the new hex-based gameplay</a>, the massive galaxy the game takes place in, and the new visual aesthetic, this one video should be enough to cause visions of hexagons to dance in your head until the game's Q1 '09 release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/13/first-puzzle-quest-galactrix-trailer-is-rather-hexy/">First Puzzle Quest: Galactrix trailer is rather hexy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 13 Jul 2008 13:30:00 EST. If you haven't tried the original yet <em>Puzzle Quest</em> yet, now would be a great time what with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/e3-xbla-release-is-coffeetime-crosswords/">that price drop</a>. As for the sequel (which we <em>still</em> can't believe is actually being made), <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> had <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/899340/galactrix/videos/PQGX_LiveArcade_070808.html">its first bit of gameplay </a>released which shows off some of the changed game mechanics.<br /><br />Changing over from a grid based system to a hex-based system would mean of course that gems wouldn't fall when those beneath them were removed, so the play field has been moved into zero gravity. Now, the gems will "fall" in the direction that they were swapped. Move a gem diagonally up and to the right and the gems from diagonally down and to the left will move to fill the space. <br /><br />If that sounds confusing check the gameplay video after the break. And the current release window is the first quarter of 2009.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/13/puzzle-quest-galactrix-video-release-q109/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix video; release Q109</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/13/puzzle-quest-galactrix-video-release-q109/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix video; release Q109</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 13 Jul 2008 00:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/d3"> D3 Publisher</a>'s big surprise at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gdc08">GDC</a> this year was the newly rebranded <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/23/puzzle-quest-galactrix-re-announced/"><em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em></a><em>, </em>the sci-fi spiritual sequel to the hit <em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.</em> We weren't able to play the game -- we were forced to sit <em>tantalizingly</em> close as we watched the PC version of the game (also coming to DS and Xbox Live Arcade) being demonstrated. The new game explores the question "What if people didn't have souls?" in the medium of match-three puzzle games. No, we don't know what that means either.<br /><br />Enjoy our gallery of spaceship concept art, screenshots, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/662450/">this thing</a>, and continue past the break for what gameplay details we could glean from the demo.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/gdc08-hands-almost-on-with-puzzle-quest-galactrix/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GDC08: Hands almost-on with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/gdc08-hands-almost-on-with-puzzle-quest-galactrix/">GDC08: Hands almost-on with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 20:01:00 EST. Details are light, but D3Publisher revealed that <em>Galactrix</em> will take the franchise into the sci-fi genre, nearly opposite of its older brother <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/puzzlequestchallengexboxlivearcade/">Puzzle Quest: CotW</a></em>. D3Publisher also promise to include a "rich and detailed storyline and fresh gameplay elements" into the mix. Which is a good thing, we wouldn't want <em>Galactrix</em> to have a non-existent storyline or stale gameplay elements ... that gets a thumbs up from us. Feel free to browse the <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em> concept art, renders and screenshots in the super awesome <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix/">gallery</a> below.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/sci-fi-puzzle-quest-galactrix-is-headed-to-xbla/">Sci-fi Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is headed to XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 16:45:00 EST. We've known a <em>Puzzle Quest </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/puzzle-quest-sequel-cited-in-d3-press-release-coming-2008/">sequel was coming</a> out for some time -- turns out, we've known longer than we thought. In <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/04/11/puzzle-quest-creators-go-sci-fi-for-successor/">April 2007</a>, D3 Publishers announced <em>Galactrix</em>, a "blend of puzzle, RPG, and strategy games" with sci-fi twist. This week at GDC, D3 announced it again (via <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/ds/puzzle/galactrix/news.html?page=1&amp;sid=6186597">Gamespot</a>), only this time re-branded as <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em>. (You can view the old screenshots <a href="http://www.infinite-interactive.com/galactrix.php">here</a>.)<br /><br />The obvious gameplay difference from <em>Puzzle Quest</em> is the hexagonal board, adding to the board's complexity. <em>Galactrix</em> is due out this year for DS, Xbox Live Arcade and PC; a PSP version could not be confirmed.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/23/puzzle-quest-galactrix-re-announced/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (re)announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Feb 2008 00:00:00 EST.
