It's times like these that we wish we had $250 to burn on a quilt.<br /><br />Even if we can't buy this, though, we can sure admire it (along with many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-space-invaders-extreme-but-w/">other <span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders</span></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/space-invaders-on-your-neck-ears-and-waist/">themed items</a>). The quilt might not have the same explosive color as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/ds-fanboy-review-space-invaders-extreme/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders Extreme</span></a>, but it sure makes the classic icons look all warm and cozy. Who wouldn't want to snuggle with these alienoids?<br /><br />Made by Emily from the Etsy shop CarolinaPatchworks (who you might remember as the craftster behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/">this 8-bit <span style="font-style: italic;">Zelda </span>quilt</a>), you can buy this blanket if you have some extra green lying around. You also might want to check out her <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5262675">other gaming items</a> -- she even takes recommendations.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/07/22/space-invaders-quilt-lands-on-planet-earth/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/22/sleeping-with-space-invaders/">Sleeping with Space Invaders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jul 2008 22:00:00 EST. <div align="left"><br />It's official: not only is Wii Fanboy the web's leading resource for all things Wii, we're also the number one online source of <em>Zelda bedding</em>. This is the third <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/"><em>Zelda</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">quilt</a> we've featured on the site, and it also happens to be the cheapest so far -- a mere $135 will buy you this queen-sized duvet, as stitched from 2" squares of <strike>real Octorok skin</strike> cotton. For an extra $30, you can even have matching pillowcases: just make sure you pack it all away when any would-be lovers arrive in your room after a particularly successful first date.<br /><br />If you fancy spending $165 on some of the most awesome bedding in the universe, contact Etsy user <a href="http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5219875">punzie</a> and show her the color of your money. Explore past the break for a close-up of the quilt.<br /><br />Read: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&amp;listing_id=13034011">The Quilt of Courage</a><br />Read: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=cat2_galley_5&amp;listing_id=13086606">The Pillows of Wisdom</a><br /></div>

It's been a while since we lavished some love on our favorite inanimate game character. We are, of course, talking about the Weighted Companion Cube from the best game <em>evar</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/portal"><em>Portal</em></a>. So, check out this completely awesome Weighted Companion Cube quilt. Don't go looking to snap up one for yourself just yet though, as it appears to be one of a kind. It was purchased by blogger <a href="http://thatgirlssite.com/?p=1528">That Girl</a>, who bought it from a very gifted crafter known as <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5219875">Punzie</a>. It's worth noting that Punzie does have quite a few other products featuring video game themes and characters (we're particularly fond of the Triforce pillow). Who knows, maybe if you ask nicely enough, you might get a Companion Quilt of your very own.<br /><br />[Thanks, Simca]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/behold-the-unweighted-companion-quilt/">Behold, the unweighted Companion Quilt!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 18:30:00 EST. <br />As we have seen on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">previous</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/">occasions</a>, patchwork quilts are <em>perfect</em> for recreating scenes from NES-era games. However, the Mario depicted on this quilt is a little more modern, and the results are no less spectacular.<br /><br />Crafted by the wife of BoingBoing reader Brian (a.k.a <a href="http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g168/bishmasterb/Mario%20Quilt/">bishmasterb</a>), this work of art uses sixteen types of fabric, and is 36 columns by 44 rows tall (six feet by eight feet). Oh, and it's hung on that wall for the last <em>five years</em>, hidden from an appreciative world! For the record, we fully support the decision to show it off on its own wall. You can't actually <em>use</em> things that are this beautiful. That would be <em>madness</em>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/">Bishmasterb's Mario quilt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/#662155"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/mario-quilt-hjgjhgj-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/#662154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/mario-quilt-hjgjhgj-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/#662153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/mario-quilt-hjgjhgj-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/#662152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/mario-quilt-hjgjhgj-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bishmasterbs-mario-quilt/#662151"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/mario-quilt-hjgjhgj-005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/mama-mia-mario-gets-stitched-up/">Mama Mia! Every time we go to Craftster to look at this latest Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quilt/">quilt</a>, we temporarily get distracted by the creator's choice of username: "iddosteveperry." How great is that? You'd have to make a hell of a quilt to outshine a username like that.<br /><br />We don't know if this Bowser-centric quilt manages to be more awesome than a pseudonymous admission of casual attraction to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Perry_(musician)">ex-Journey frontman</a>, but it's a pretty neat quilt. It's well-done, especially for a first quilt, very colorful, and features the <em>Super Mario Bros.</em>-era Bowser sprite! Quilt: <em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__eI4u_tQD8">we kinda like you, baby</a>.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/marios-cryin-now-because-of-this-great-quilt/">Mario's Cryin' Now because of this great quilt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jan 2008 18:00:00 EST. <br /><em>Look</em>, it's all well and good stomping off to rescue princesses and reassemble <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/triforce">golden triangular relics</a>, but at least remember that it's a <em>cold, unforgiving world</em> out there, and you'll need something warm to wrap around yourself at some point. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">the only other Zelda quilt</a> we've posted about was never put up for sale, this one should do the trick, even if it is ... <em>$475</em>?! StephaniePrice, the Craftster who created the beautiful <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/10/take-mushrooms-to-bed-with-you/">Mario mushroom quilt</a>, is at it again. Or, more precisely, she <em>was at it</em> twice simultaneously and has just now gotten around to posting the second quilt. This time, it's a <em>Final Fantasy-</em>themed creation featuring the iconic Black Mage. <br /><br />We love <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/use-this-to-defeat-slight-draft-man/">gamer quilts</a> for the obvious reasons: we like games, and sometimes we get cold. Big pixels translate perfectly to squares of fabric, as well. We would be happy to pack something like this to keep us warm on some kind of <em>major quest</em> we were undertaking, although about the most <em>epic</em> quest we ever have is navigating the bedroom in the dark without busting our feet.<br /><br />[Thanks, Mary!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/crafter-casts-quiltaga-creates-comfy-tribute/">Crafter casts Quiltaga, creates comfy tribute</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Dec 2007 19:00:00 EST. If, like us, you're getting ready for bed, you'll probably wish you had one of these nifty quilts to snuggle with. Hey, no one can make fun of your fandom if you only pull it out at night, after all. This quilt was posted on craftster, and the genius in question made it for a friend's son. Clearly, we need to pose as someone's child so we can get in on this kind of gifting. Any takers?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/10/take-mushrooms-to-bed-with-you/">Take mushrooms to bed with you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Dec 2007 23:00:00 EST. MAKE magazine has a <a href="http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2007/08/how_to_quiltbert_qbert_vi.html">link</a> to instructions on how you can make this ultra-retro video game quilt. Ever think you'd have a giant <em>Q*bert</em> keeping you warm at night? Now your dreams can come true ... or your nightmares.<br /><br />Follow along and try your hand at making your own, or try something even more retro and let us know about it. At the very least, you'll have a new bed for the cat to sleep on. Where's the <em>Pong</em> quilt when you need one?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/16/q-bert-quilt-keeps-you-warm-and-snuggly-at-night/">Q*bert quilt keeps you warm and snuggly at night</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Aug 2007 21:01:00 EST. We aren't sure how we'd rank those two things. <br /><br />Maybe we should start quilting, so we can have our own enormous pixel-perfect Link holding a very <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziggurat">ziggurat</a>-esque Triforce. But we aren't sure we're up to the challenge of cutting and sewing together over 400 squares. In fact, we know we aren't. We're exhausted from reaching up to the number keys just now.<br /><br />Seen any amazing game-related <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/craft">crafts</a> lately?
