As I'm sitting down in Ubisoft's San Francisco office for a two hour presentation on the recently announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rainbow-6-patriots"><em>Rainbow 6: Patriots</em></a>, there's one thought running through my mind before it even starts:<br />
<br />
What the hell is Ubisoft thinking?<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/">Rainbow 6: Patriots (11/28/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/#4639561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/r6pmpca09sandtabletacticalplanning_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/#4639562"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/r6prender02r6team_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/#4639563"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/r6pspca01ceilingbreach_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/#4639564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/r6psps04hdrappelfromtopofbrooklynbridge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-6-patriots-11-28-11/#4639565"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/r6psps05hdteamechomovinginbrooklynbridge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/28/the-darker-gray-of-rainbow-6-patriots/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The darker gray of Rainbow 6: Patriots</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/28/the-darker-gray-of-rainbow-6-patriots/">The darker gray of Rainbow 6: Patriots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Nov 2011 15:10:00 EST. Both the reports of an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/report-ubisofts-next-rainbow-six-to-focus-on-moral-dilemmas/">early concept video</a> leaked this past June and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/the-next-rainbow-six-game-is-probably-titled-patriots/">web domain acquisitions</a> which pointed at Ubisoft's next installment in the Rainbow Six franchise have proven authentic: <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/11/03/december-cover-revealed-rainbow-6-patriots.aspx">Game Informer</a> just announced its December issue will focus on <em>Rainbow 6: Patriots</em>. The title, which is tentatively scheduled to launch on 360, PS3 and PC in 2013, prominently features the compelling (and presumably controversial) moral dilemmas seen in the video from earlier this year.<br />
<br />
Creative director David Sears told Game Informer that in addition to that new "narrative direction," the game will feature "all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love." You can watch an <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/11/03/introducing-rainbow-6-patriots.aspx">expanded version of that video from June</a> on Game Informer -- just be forewarned, it's kind of upsetting. Terrorists are <em>mean</em>, you guys.<br />

<a href="http://fusible.com/2011/10/domain-registrations-point-to-sequel-being-called-rainbox-six-patriots/">Fusible</a> spotted Ubisoft's domain-name registration for <a href="http://whois.domaintools.com/rainbowsixpatriots.com">rainbowsixpatriots.com</a> and <a href="http://whois.domaintools.com/rainbow6patriots.com">rainbow6patriots.com</a>, and the title has been corroborated by NeoGAF user <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=450155">-BLITZ-</a>, with additional information expected to hit Xbox World Magazine next month. Previous reports said <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/report-ubisofts-next-rainbow-six-to-focus-on-moral-dilemmas/"><em>Rainbow Six: Patriots</em></a> will be a lesson in the morality behind terrorism and those attempting to thwart it, which fits the title quite well. It would be awkward if it were called <em>Rainbow Six: That Was Probably Just A Car Backfiring; Go Back To Bed</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/the-next-rainbow-six-game-is-probably-titled-patriots/">The next Rainbow Six game is probably titled 'Patriots'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Oct 2011 16:30:00 EST. <a href="http://kotaku.com/5814871/source-new-rainbow-6-might-be-the-most-innovative-shooter-in-years">Kotaku</a> reports that it recently checked out an early video demonstration for an upcoming entry in Ubisoft's long-dormant tactical shooter franchise, <em>Rainbow Six</em> -- from which the image above was supposedly culled. According to the report, the game tasks the elite unit with stopping the threat of a homegrown terrorist cell from visiting destruction upon New York City; a goal which will present the player with a multitude of frequent moral dilemmas.<br />
<br />
One sequence of the demo apparently puts players in the shoes of a kidnapping victim who must hold down a trigger to keep an explosive vest from detonating. Later in the demo, the player shoots his way to the victim (either killing or incapacitating his enemies), and then must decide between risking the lives of everyone else on the bridge, or tossing the poor sod into the river below. It sounds interesting -- but according to Kotaku, Ubisoft is still on the fence about whether these moral decisions will make it into the final cut of the game.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Ubisoft about the report, and will keep our eyes peeled for the reported video. We're also going to go play a few rounds of Terrorist Hunt, because man, we've got <em>the itch</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/report-ubisofts-next-rainbow-six-to-focus-on-moral-dilemmas/">Report: Ubisoft's next Rainbow Six to focus on moral dilemmas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jun 2011 17:35:00 EST. If you're looking to spend your long weekend in a quiet, relaxing way, you could do worse than to check out <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/nightsky">NightSky</a></em>, the meditative rolling-ball platformer by <em>Knytt</em> creator Nifflas. And now's a good day for it, because Steam has reduced the price to five bucks through 1PM tomorrow. <br />
<br />
If you're in the mood for less tranquility and more Tom Clancity, the ongoing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ubisoft,steam">Ubisoft sale</a> continues today, with 66% <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sale/ubisoft_week">discounts</a> on pretty much every Tom Clancy game ever, including various <em>Splinter Cells, Ghost Recons, Rainbow Sixes</em>, and <em>HAWX</em> ... es.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/29/steam-discounts-nightsky-tom-clancy-games/">Steam discounts NightSky, Tom Clancy games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 May 2011 22:30:00 EST. In a recent interview with <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=nl&amp;u=http://control-online.nl/gamesindustrie/2010/04/28/nederlander-waakt-over-tom-clancy-ip/&amp;ei=da7YS53fK4H_8AbDvqHDBQ&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=translate&amp;ct=result&amp;resnum=1&amp;ved=0CAkQ7gEwAA&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://control-online.nl/gamesindustrie/2010/04/28/nederlander-waakt-over-tom-clancy-ip/%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3D48u%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official">Dutch gaming news site Control Online</a> (that is to say, the site itself is Dutch -- it doesn't exclusively cover the booming Dutch video game industry), Ubisoft's Tom Clancy brand manager Michel Verheijdt explained "at this moment I'm working on two <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tom-clancy">Tom Clancy</a> games which have just gone in development." He remained tight lipped about the identities of the two franchises, warning that if he exposes any more info, he'll "have to send Sam Fisher after you."<br />
<br />
Fortunately, Joystiq was able to get the scoop on these two games, and you'll <em>never</em> believe what they are. For the first time in ... hold on a second. Someone's at the door. Hello? Who are you, and -- hey, why are you grabbing our neck? This doesn't seem very safe, begoggled, gruff-voiced stranger.<br />

The fine purveyors of DRM-free classics at <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/">GoG.com</a> have announced an agreement with Ubisoft, which sees good old(ish) games like <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em> and <em>Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time</em> added to the downloadable lineup. Joining action journalist Jade and the time-swindling prince are ... the aeroplanes of <em>IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946</em>! We guess they weren't really going for much of a theme outside of all three costing $9.99 each.<br /><br />Other Ubisoft titles slated to hit the PC service "in the coming weeks" include <em>Heroes of Might and Magic</em>, <em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon</em>, <em>Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six</em> and <em>Not Tom Clancy's</em> <em>Far Cry</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/26/beyond-good-and-evil-pop-sands-of-time-added-to-gogs-lineup/">Beyond Good &amp; Evil, PoP: Sands of Time added to GOG's lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 21:25:00 EST. Sources close to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=205377">CVG</a> have said that Ubisoft is poised to announce new installments of its popular <em>Ghost Recon</em> and <em>Rainbow Six</em> franchises later this year. According to the source <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ubisoft/">Ubisoft</a>, which released <em>Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainbow-six-vegas-2">March 2008</a> and has had <em>Ghost Recon</em> on the shelf since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/graw2/">mid 2007</a>, could have both titles ready for the 2009 holiday rush. Unfortunately details for either title are scarce but the general school of thought is both franchises would see a reboot away from current story lines and settings. So, the rumor is Ubi is hitting up new a <em>Ghost Recon</em> and <em>Rainbow Six</em>? In other news the sky is blue and the sun is hot.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/rumor-ubi-readies-new-ghost-recon-rainbow-six/">Rumor: Ubi readies new Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 15:45:00 EST. Despite vowing to "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/rainbow-six-dev-we-will-never-go-back-to-vegas/">never go back to Vegas</a>," Ubisoft is still more than willing to expand the gambler's paradise from afar via downloadable content. Terrorists vs. bandits (some one-armed, others well-armed) showdown, <em>Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em>, will be getting a free "Fan Pack" on Xbox Live, PSN and Ubisoft's website in July, sure to bring a smile to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/rainbow-six-vegas-2-sells-two-million-worldwide-ubi-raising-fis/">two million</a> or so people who purchased the game.<br /><br />The download not only adds three new maps -- the re-lit "Murdertown" and "CQB Training," as well as "Calypso Casino" -- but new multiplayer ranks and several tweaks to weapons, gadgets and other aspects of the game. Read up on all the changes over at <a href="http://rainbowsixgame.us.ubi.com/article.php?news_id=7957">the official site</a>. <br /><br />[Thanks, MisfitToy]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/27/rainbow-six-vegas-2-getting-free-multiplayer-maps-in-july/">Rainbow Six Vegas 2 getting free multiplayer maps in July</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Jun 2008 19:00:00 EST. We've seen a veritable gaggle of promotional material for the controversial title as of late, including <a href="http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=151824">two recent trailers which clown on some other popular shooters</a>. The first of which, seen above, parodies the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/mad-world-gears-ad-propels-song-to-1-on-itunes/">unforgettable <em>Gears of War</em> trailer</a>, and features an unnamed infantryman butchering Gary Jules' cover of the Tears for Fears classic downer "Mad World". The other (available after the break) somewhat mocks <em>Rainbow Six</em>'s stealth tactics. It's not exactly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/17/leisure-suit-larry-box-office-bust-trailer-riffs-on-gears-of-wa/">uncharted territory</a>, but we can always appreciate such <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic">Yankovician</a> displays of friendly competition between developers.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/battlefield-bad-company-trailers-parody-gears-of-war-rainbow-s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlefield: Bad Company trailers parody Gears of War, Rainbow Six</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/battlefield-bad-company-trailers-parody-gears-of-war-rainbow-s/">Battlefield: Bad Company trailers parody Gears of War, Rainbow Six</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. Stay tuned until we get a confirmation on what exactly is happening.<br /><br /><strong>Update 2: </strong>The timer now states the <a href="http://ghostrecon.uk.ubi.com">countdown</a> will end at 5:50PM EST.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Apparently the decrypter on the <em>Ghost Recon</em> site went on a lunch break. The new countdown, set to expire at 1:50PM, has just added an additional 2 hours. The new countdown now ends at 3:50PM EST.<br /><br />Last week we reported an interesting development occurring across all of <a href="http://www.ubisoft.com">Ubisoft's</a> <em>Tom Clancy</em> branded websites. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/27/ghost-recons-smoking-file/">First</a>, a flash overlay of a smoking dossier (or black box) appeared over the official <em>Ghost Recon</em> website that provided users with no functions or information. The next morning a menu appeared allowing site visitors to click into an alternate reality game called <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/28/ghost-recon-site-countdowns-to-april-2/">MACSAT7 Recovery</a> which expanded the flash window and revealed five audio and video files in the early stages of decoding. Soon reports flew in that other overlays, with what appeared to be wreckage from a downed helicopter, began appearing on the official sites for <em>Splinter Cell</em>, <em>Rainbow Six</em> and the upcoming <em>End War</em> that all pointed to the original <em>Ghost Recon</em> site.<br /><br />After carefully conducting mathematics we realized that each of the five files were counting down to the date and time they would be decrypted, and thus available to analyze for information, but we also noticed an overall timer that was counting down to around noon on April 2. Moments ago the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_reality_game">ARG</a> came to an end and we were surprised to see a new countdown has emerged for <strike>1:50PM</strike> <a href="http://ghostrecon.uk.ubi.com">3:50PM EST</a>.<br /><br />Could this be the rumored <em>Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3</em>, which is said to end the trilogy's stay in Mexico, or the highly expected <em>Firehawk</em>? Only time will tell. </p>

Our <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rsv2">Rainbow Six Vegas 2</a></em> coverage has been lacking a bit, so when we came across a brand new <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31809.html">Thermal Scanning video</a> today we felt obligated to share. So, embedded above is the latest video, showcasing some hot <em>RSV2</em> thermal scanning, shooting, covering, dodging and dancing (all minus the dancing). In all honesty though, team Ubisoft looks to have polished and built upon <em>Rainbow Six Vegas</em> adding a few new bells and whistles that makes <em>Vegas 2</em> shine. But if a few additions and tweaks doesn't constitute a full fledged sequel in your mind, well then good sir, <em>RSV2</em> may not be your bag. To us, it's a solid enough looking shooter and we may just have to jump in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/rainbow-six-vegas-2-set-for-a-march-21st-release/">next Friday</a> to pew, pew, pew some baddies.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/video-rainbow-six-vegas-2-thermal-scanning/">Video: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 thermal scanning</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 15:00:00 EST. MLG and Ubi Soft worked closely on the development of the map which was designed with competitive gaming in mind, wonder why that is.<br /><br />With news of the new map comes word that MLG will include <em>Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em> in its 2008 Pro Circuit, including a special release event for the game in April. The MLG Pro Circuit 2008 kicks off on April 11 and will be covered by ESPN.com. Hopefully that means we'll be able to catch reruns of the event on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50jVa25gmWs">ESPN 8: The Ocho</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-six-vegas-2/">Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - MLG Map</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-six-vegas-2/#662159"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/rsv2_ng_mlg_environment_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-six-vegas-2/#662158"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/rsv2_ng_mlg_conquest_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rainbow-six-vegas-2/#662157"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/rsv2_ng_mlg_conquest_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/rainbow-six-vegas-2-shoots-up-mlg-inspired-map/">Rainbow Six Vegas 2 shoots up MLG inspired map</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 16:00:00 EST. With varying levels of kickback, damage, ammo capacity, and accuracy, each weapon felt like a unique character, and diehard followings sprung up behind many of the game's realistic firearms.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30991.html?r=1&amp;type=wmv">above trailer shows a few new "characters"</a> we'll be introduced to in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Rainbow%20Six%3A%20Vegas%202">Rainbow Six: Vegas 2</a></em>; like Mr. Shoots Through Walls, SMG Jr., and a sniper rifle that's bigger than the <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=K0SKf0K3bxg">Juno</a><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juno_I"> I satellite launcher</a>. This one addresses the topics of Multi-Player and Co-op, dropping nuggets such as drop-in-drop-out co-op and a story explanation for the Co-op players a la <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> (1P is the Master Chief/Bishop, 2P is the Arbiter/Knight). The main of the interview is a voiceover from the Lead Multi-Player Designer, Jason Cambiotti, and he goes over the bullet points for us. He mentions the PEC system of character creation, which was talked about in <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13n7OGN5Fm8">a previous Dev Diary</a>, and will be similar class-wise to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cod4"><em>COD4</em></a> system. This video also shows off<em> Vegas'</em> new competitive multilayer modes: Demolition, which is similar to Assault and Team Leader which is similar to VIP. The rest is about revisions to the Territories-like Total Conquest mode, and the Matchmaking system which will (supposedly) be improved, with games easier to create, find, and join. The first game was well received, so hopefully Ubisoft will be able to build on the success of the first game and shoot for the top of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/with-m-16-in-hand-cod4-regains-xbox-live-crown/">Xbox Live most-played charts.</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/09/rainbow-six-vegas-2-developer-diary/">Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Developer Diary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Feb 2008 14:30:00 EST. "We really feel that the story of Vegas is done. We've explored as much of Vegas as we wanted. For now, we're pretty much covered with Vegas," said Therien. Therien added that having <em>Rainbow Six</em> focus on a single city worked well, but that the team is unsure if future installments will be based on a similar concept. So, if you want more <em>Vegas</em>, your last shot hits shelves on March 21. Next stop, <em>Rainbow Six <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stringtown%2C_Oklahoma">Stringtown</a></em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/rainbow-six-dev-we-will-never-go-back-to-vegas/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/rainbow-six-wont-see-vegas-again/">Rainbow Six won't see Vegas again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 17:30:00 EST. Don't expect a <em>Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 3</em> anytime soon. Speaking to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92317">Eurogamer</a>, designer Philippe Therien said, "We will never go back to Vegas - at least, not in the foreseeable future." So much for the "rescue four hooker witnesses from a back alley full of out-of-town drunkards" mission we've been dying to play.<br /><br />Therien also noted that, although the single location worked well for the story of the previous two games, he's not sure if they'll return to that format for the next <em>Rainbow Six</em> installment. (Make no mistake, no one expects this to be the last <em>Rainbow Six</em> title.) The glamorous, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/new-rainbow-six-vegas-2-teaser-now-glam-free-time-paradoxical/">time-paradoxical</a> <em>Rainbow Six: Vegas 2</em> is due out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/rainbow-six-vegas-2-cashes-in-march-21/">March 21</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/rainbow-six-dev-we-will-never-go-back-to-vegas/">Rainbow Six dev: 'We will never go back to Vegas'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 15:10:00 EST. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92057">Eurogamer reports</a> that <em>Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em> will be shooting up casinos and terrorists before you know it, as Ubisoft has confirmed a March 21st release date for the game.<br /><br /><em>Vegas 2</em> will feature numerous improvements over the first Nevada-centric <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainbowsix">Rainbow Six</a> </em>game, including an improved reward system, online co-op, sprinting, and destructible cover. "Talk to the hand!" has been the sentiment of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/rainbow-six-vegas-2-teaser-has-glam-forgets-gameplay-footage-v/" target="_blank">the</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/new-rainbow-six-vegas-2-teaser-now-glam-free-time-paradoxical/" target="_blank">two</a> <em>Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em> teaser trailers released thus far, and while Ubisoft still isn't ready to <em>show us</em> the game, the publisher is ready to talk. A smattering of gameplay details was disclosed today, confirming what the game title already reveals: we're in for more <em>Rainbow Six Vegas</em>. More weapons, more armor, mo' better AI, more multiplayer and, of course, "more Vegas."<br /><br />As the Tom Clancy franchises continue along the 'EA Sports trajectory,' <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainbow-six-vegas-2/">Vegas 2</a></em> will see its most ambitious seasonal tweaks in the form of <strike>improved</strike> "vastly improved" co-op play (a jump-in/jump-out campaign) and single-player expansion of the first game's multiplayer progression system (offline experience points). Anyone else convinced that the Ubisoft Montreal devs could code this game in their sleep?<br /><br /><em>Rainbow Six Vegas 2</em> is being developed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows, and is currently scheduled for a March 2008 release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/rainbow-six-vegas-2-to-feature-more-vegas/">Rainbow Six Vegas 2 to feature 'more Vegas'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2007 15:25:00 EST. This teaser offers even less of the game than <em>Duke Nukem Forever's</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/duke-nukem-forever-teaser-perpetuates-cycle-of-non-delivery/">recent sighting</a>, opting instead to show a few seconds of operatives hopping out of a helicopter.<br /><br />There is one pesky problem, and that is with time itself: if you notice the first shot of the helicopter it displays 6:52:12 and the chopper isn't close to the building. When the camera cuts back to the helicopter next to the building, time is again 6:52:12. There are two (and <em>only</em> two) logical conclusions: either we are to assume two helicopters, with shots from two separate buildings, or <em>Vegas 2</em> has a time travel component. Hopefully Ubisoft will come clean on its temporal experiments sometime in the near-distant past-future.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.megatonik.com/2007/12/20/new-rainbow-six-vegas-2-teaser-still-disappointing/">Megatonik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/new-rainbow-six-vegas-2-teaser-now-glam-free-time-paradoxical/">New Rainbow Six Vegas 2 teaser now glam-free, time paradoxical</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2007 09:59:00 EST. If you're wondering what <span style="font-style: italic;">Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2</span> will look like in-game, close your eyes and wish really hard for a new trailer. However, if you want to see what operatives do when not scaling walls or killing people (hint: it involves bountiful, big-breasted, brunette bimbos bumped briskly by brazen bodies), boy do we have a teaser for you.<br /><br />The original video was posted and later pulled by GameTrailers, only to be re-uploaded to the site via a user -- if the video is pulled again, you can also find a copy at <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3pxya_trailer-de-rainbow-six-vegas-2_videogames">DailyMotion</a> (via <a href="http://www.megatonik.com/2007/12/10/rainbow-six-vegas-2-trailer-is-here-to-disappoint/">Megatonik</a>). Other facts: <span style="font-style: italic;"></span> it's still in Las Vegas and that's the logo above. Did you want to know anything else?
